Mickey Mania - Level 1 - Steamboat Willie

- Here starts my walkthrough of one of the hardest Sega Genesis/Megadrive games ever directed mainly to children (and adults that are into Disney).
This game was TOUGH! Didn't help at all that it's the first time I ever got past the fourth level.
I bet the developers didn't want anybody to ever see the end credits, it's so sickly misleading and challenging at times.
I used save states between levels (for editing purposes, the raw footage is counted in gigabytes and have to be edited fast) and every time I thought I needed a break.
Anyway, fun game that I will never play through again. Good thing I can still muster gaming power and confidence just by thinking of the dead Jigo. May he rest in that pile of crap for all eternity!
Oh, and this description mostly applies to the later levels. Movies 1, 2 and 3 are easier to finish than eating a warm piece of blueberry pie with cold milk on a rainy autumn evening.
And vist my site, damn it!

I'm actually genuinely frightened of this game.
It was so HARD!
Everything past the spider boss was fucking awfully rediculously hard
The one thing I love about this level is how it fades into color.
Falchion Of Eternity Lol, this was the most destruction that Mickey ever did in this game
I used to play this when I was about 6 and it was the hardest shit! I could never remember what the game was called though, so I'm glad I finally found it a decade later :D
dude fucking same i looked up mickey mouse boat game lol
Game was way too hard for little kids lol... same here
Still the hardest shit ever
one of my first games, makes me cry when I remember those good old times living at my parents house and playing this gem
I'm glad to know the music has a source origin, because it's been always used to his... creepypasta counterpart..
We know what we're here for, right?
Dude. Thankyou for this, really took me back, this was the first game I ever played.
Man this takes me back! The mad doctor actually scared me when i was 10
Mickey (Steamboat Willie) became public domain
aweso
This game came to me when i was 9 in mexico and for 1st time i can re watch again, it feels so good
I MISS MY CHILDHOOOOD
Holy shit hahah this game popped into my head randomly. What a throwback!! Game was fkn mega hard haha. Its weird how I can remember this level so specifically and it was 20+ years ago I played it! Great video man !
Thank you for bringing back memories from my youth!!
Amazing how they made a game like this despite the limitations of the mega drive.
MAAAAANNN. Now I feel stupid. Never thought to go up when I was a kid. Just keep getting bounced back to the dock from the water, lol.
Now that Steamboat Willie's in public domain, I don't know what to say.
Insanity pyschosis
I was born in 1984, I was 10 years old when this came out. I used to play it with Mortal Combat. Only 2 games I had because we were poor. Dude I used to clean my SEGA everyday lol. I was so thankful to have a video game to play with. All my friends used to come to my house to play :)))))))) good times, please never delete this video man
Suppressed memories comming back to me :)
I remember having a memory that this game looked exactly like the old timey Disney cartoons. Now we have Cuphead that blows this out of the water.
i remember i never used to know what to do at that rope at 1:54 and i would start crying
1:54
The feels, the momories.
How am I feeling nostalgic for a game I haven’t even played?
i still remember this game
I love the music:)
Happy b-day mickeymouse!!
Never passed the level in the forest as a kid (If i recall correctly you were suppose to avoid some moose ?) and with no save i played this level over and over and over again. The song is regulary stuck in my head, even almost 30 years later.
Oh, memories :3
:3
Are you still alive?
@brak I'm glad you pointed that out - I thought it was on my screen!
I can't believe they made a level based off a public domain cartoon. How lazy of Disney to do that
This game was merciless.
is no one gonna talk about the level 1 theme was used in really happy mouse?
Idk
Agree this game is tough, I played it as a kid and managed to complete all the levels. Sega Genesis's Lion King is another difficult game.
@clockwerk35
That's why I said "one of the hardest games targeted mainly to children".
This is such a fun game on Genesis
Using the boots for the flying things like bullets that do BONK to the flying things
The music is from really happy mouse
Omg!! I used to love this game 😍😍
I DREAMED ABOUT THIS GAME WHEN I WAS LIKE 7
oh my god i remember playing this game when i was like 5 years old
My beautiful childhood...
This game was evil. I could never get passed level 2 and I played this for hours. All these kids with infinite lives and saves have no idea how lucky they are.
Although I never had problems with this game, I have to agree with you!
What about Aladdin on the Sega Genesis? That game was a bit hard
Level 2 was difficult, but not too hard. I think the hardest part was when you have to ride the cart with all the saw blades everywhere. But once you get that part down, it's not too difficult. The hardest bit is the Prince and the Pauper level, which is also the last. Mickey and the Beanstalk was fairly hard as well. But a very fun game. I played it a lot as a kid. Still have it actually.
The SEGA CD version was the best, simply because of the brilliant sound quality, and musical soundtrack. Felt more like a Disney film on SEGA CD.
Memories :)
I'm back again after the 3 first shorts being public domain
is this game supposed to be about the present mickey going through all of his past selves?
I was unsure if this was the game I llayed until I heard the song at 1:35 lmao I was born in 1998 but I somehow remember playing this at one point during my childhood. I owned a Sega Genesis for a very brief (around the age of 4 ot 5) moments before owning the PS1 and N64, which I actually remember more well
Really Happy Mouse
My sister always told me to disturb old Mickey because he looked so happy.
It was soo hard back then.
I always got stuck with the barrels and water...and drowned.
travellers tales worked on EVERYTHING. damn.
i don't know if you understand this but know we get to choose this is mickey.
Isn't it funny when Mickey hit's the bird and when it goes down it sounds like Sub-Zero's move on MK1 for the Sega Genesis???
Christ man... As a child, i used to PISS through this whole game without any trouble. The current version of me would suck so damn hard at this now. Still... good times :)
OMG memories!!!
This first music reminds me of really happy mouse. So this is original song of this game?
yep.
i played this when i was 4, when in the ps2 was a super nintendo emulator i played it so much times, i played it too in my pc when i was 5, when my mom downloaded it for some reason.
this theme looks familiar 𝙐 𝙉 𝙃 𝘼 𝙋 𝙋 𝙔 𝙈 𝙊 𝙐 𝙎 𝙀
i loved this game it was the best!!!!
Im 12 and i had that game and i loved it
Idk if anyone knows this, I figured it out on accident with my siblings when we were younger, if you hit your Sega at just the right time, before you jump on the boat, you get unlimited lives and become invincible.
Well, they sure got the animal abuse in Steamboat Willie right. Too bad you can't use the goat as a phonograph or the cow's teeth as a xylophone.
1:14, I wonder why classic Mickey ran away, it's a mystery :?
when i first got this game alot of years ago i couldnt get past the elevator lvl.. i think its number 8 or something. now its the castle im having troubles with :s
One of David Jaffe's early games.
I love this game so much, and the song of this level brings back so many memories, so I decided to make a cover version of it, feel free to go check it out! ^^ soundcloud.com/bryanevert/mickey-mania-steamboat-willie-bryan-evert-cover
only the firts level is best and remind me my childhood
if u jump down at 03:13 and stick to the right u will land on a platform with some lives and those stars
The Genesis version was godly, with that hair on the film in the corner, over there. (The SNES version didn't have that effect, for whatever reason.)
*Continued* I still do remember playing The Lion King on the Genesis as a kid and could never get past the 2nd level (The I just can't wait to be King level) I once made it up to the final puzzle with the monkeys but got stuck there because I didn't know which ones to roar at in order to move on, I only knew about the Elephant Graveyard and Stampede levels due to the game demos after the title screen, and saw Simba's exile at a friend's home because his brother made it that far *2bcont.*
First game i ever had buti dont remember ever getting very far,i think the trama from that game made me atay away from games until i got a Nentendo duck hunt at a garage sale, but i think by then people had X box 1
I totally have this game on Sega Genisis. It's hard!
Isn't this the level where you can jump to the platform below the "boss" in the end?
I beat the SNES version as a kid. I don't know if it was any easier than the Sega version, though it was still extremely frustrating.
I had this game on playstation, and it was called "Mickey's wild adventure" instead. Strange...
*Continued* but I have to say this game is really tough for a Disney game, this Mickey game is just as tough as the Capcom Magical Quest Mickey games. The Mickey Mouse games actually made by Sega were a bit easier (minus Fantasia but that's only because it was unfinished and it sucked anyway) but were still fun, and I do know that most Disney video games back in the 16-bit era were hard but still fun, I still do remember playing the Lion King on the Genesis *2bcont.*
@JohnnyDFox
I can safely say that aged 10 I found this be really REALLY difficult after like, the third level. XD
you missed two hidden lives
I was 5 when i played this and never could beat the first level lol
1:54 shouldve jumped on the bird to gain an extra star
This game was tough but the toughest? thts hard to accept.
3:03 great graphics. this game is fucking sick.
It’s official. This is public domain.
Yes.
@@SRobotOG just happened yesterday.
@@ReddyToAnimate Me knows.
@@SRobotOG shame it got 2 horror releases. 2024 is the mouse’s darkest year.
@@ReddyToAnimate 3*
This was on PSX? i recognise it somehow
@JohnnyDFox
Fantasia was I believe.
I know the comment is a year old, but oh well. haha
1:13 Paradox of Time :D
I had the SNES version. I see the differences
3:04 as the crane goes 3D when this game came out / still O_______O
Yeah I never owned any version of Mickey Mania (played the Genesis and Sega CD versions on an emulator, I still have an actual Sega Genesis, which is called Megadrive for those of you outside the U.S., but I don't have the cables and stuff in order to get the thing to work again and most of the games I have for it are trapped in my Mother's water bed's drawers which are pressed up against the wall in her room so I won't be able to get to them until we move again) *2bcont.
Kingdom Hearts :D !
Happy mouse.exe
you can get this on the ps1 as well
I was 7 when i played the game i cannot win
i want it!!!!
