Finished the entire video... in short, do what you like. I get it. Some parts of certain EV cars just try too hard and make things look like a gimmick which is great for that initial sense of fulfillment but I ponder how they would fare after a year... that's when I hand it over to the likes of a Mazda. ( not the base spec ). Certain things like door handles, emergency release etc are something they should always keep it as a mechanical unit. I got locked inside my 1997 Boxster due to it's electrical door lock and had to climb out the window... just saying. LOL

To be able to say something is good whether you yourself want to own it or not is the hallmark of a good reviewer. Many people confuse judgement of good or bad with like it or don't like it. I like and buy cars that I myself think it's a bad choice for others 😅

if u have 200k to buy yr only daily driver.. would u go for an EV or ICE? and if u can afford an EV as an daily + an ICE car, its gonna be at the 350k (assuming u would get an SUV at 150k)
and we do have little accidents once in a while be it small or major.. EV repair is gonna cost exponentially higher than ICE cars in general.. not to say resale value when u wanna change your car..
my advice is always like this.. if u can afford an EV as a 2nd car.. by all means go ahead..
for the rest of us like me, just buy the one that makes the most economical sense to our wallet..

They propose such a bill just to appeal to young voters who are environmentally conscious. And then set the dates in 2030 which means it's actually a problem for other politicians by then

I plan to wait for the next five years before considering an EV. In the meantime, if needed, I’ll opt for a hybrid or plug in hybrid. I prefer to let others be the early adopters and work out any potential issues…which will definitely arise within that timeline…

This viewpoint is perhaps a car lover's perspective that's progressive and in with the times. And also from someone who has the means to pursue that dream. Hopefully, that's a fair thing to say. However, if your finances are not in a real great place, you don't have the luxury to think about what's good for the planet, nor the economic realities of owning an EV. Malaysian government's marvellous EV incentive aside, it doesn't change the realities of EV.

Watching one hour of unedited rambling, I'm appal to say the least. As an EV lover myself, I rented EVs for a fun weekend drives more times I can count, but the reality is, unless you're living in a western country, you'll have to content with the current limitations of EVs - limited range for long road trips, long charge time, less than stellar EV infrastructure, potentially abysmal resale value, and high repair costs. If you're born with money, a world of excitement awaits you - you could buy one, have fun with it, and write it off. Otherwise, you can lease or rent one. For most intents and purposes, I do not recommend buying one, especially if you do not lived in a landed house, and that's the only car you can afford. You have no idea how much that pains me to say that, but it's the truth.

Beginner or kids version always use battery..
But for pro usually have small engine..
Everyone will start with battery powered RC and along the road they either lose interest or upgrade to the engine version..
same concept just bigger scale, so which one are you?

First of all, most malaysians can't afford to own more than 1 car all by oneself. Furthermore, EVs in Malaysia starts from RM100k onwards. I believe you would agree with me that those sub 100k EVs would not be considered a good car. By comparison, an ICE car in Malaysia could be had for RM37k and above. That's at least a RM78k surplus. Unlike America, Malaysian currency is substantially weaker, and our high car tax meant that cars are considerably more expensive to us dollar to dollar - RM63k is close to the average Malaysian's annual salary. In Australia, a graduate (average annual salary AUD75k) could buy a used Mazda 3 (Model BP, 150k km mileage) for AUD 21k. Thus, one of the criteria Malaysians would look for before buying a new car, is the resale value. An ICE car's resale value is a known quantity, especially if you go for a popular model. On the other hand, an EV's resale value in 8 years time is very much up in the air. Most reputable EV companies such as Smart and Tesla offers 8 year high-voltage battery warranty. What if you sell your car in 6 years, or god forbid, after 8 years? I think it probably won't be an exaggeration to say that your used EV would have depreciated by 70%, given that we've heard stories about a brand new Tesla Model S Plaid had its value diminished by 50% in a single year. We do not have the luxury of worrying about climate change, when a car could cost at least 100k and more likely than not, the EV you wanted would cost at least double that. Yes, EV have a lot of benefits - you can kiss goodbye to the dreaded petrol fume. However, EV penetration in KL right now is still low, and in a highly polluted city like KL, you're nevertheless going to have them seep in to your car just as an innocent bystander. To fix that you'll need an EV that have built-in HEPA air filter, but that would mean getting at least a Tesla Model Y or an Mercedes EQS - a RM199k car or a RM650k car. Pick your poison.
By the same virtue, the low EV market share is a luxury now to the early adopters, given that you can charge while you shop. However, in the inevitable future when more people drives an EV, the situation will most likely turns to pain without significant EV chargers investment - I once have to wait in line for almost 40 minutes to charge my rented Tesla in Sydney during rush hour - a country with significantly more EVs on the road, with considerably fewer EV chargers per capita than United States. If you have a landed house and your own charger, you'll have far better time, but like you so eloquently pointed out, you'll still have to content with long charge time, if you can charge at all, when you go for long road trips. This ties back to the point you brought up with having multiple cars - preferably a popular, practical ICE SUV and a daily-driver EV. That is ideal, however, how many of us can afford that kind of luxury? I certainly don't. I owned a 2013 Honda Jazz Hybrid and it's still rocking and kicking and I'm determined to drive it until it meets its fiery doom, which had it been an EV instead, it would most likely already be in one, figuratively speaking. By all accounts, as a progressive myself, I'm not at all anti-EV, as I have been renting EVs often these days as it's god damn fun to drive, and I've even rented an EV for my holidays, which is more than what I can say for most people. However, I would most likely not put down my hard-earned money to own an EV - given that the current price, range, charging speed, EV infrastructure and resale value is less than ideal. I've no issues leasing/renting it, if you could afford it and you like the experience of driving an EV - I recommend renting one first and giving it a try. If you're like me, you'll most likely have your mind blown.

EV cars are great but from battery technologies perspective, I don't want to spend my 200k on a say 400KM range EV but recommended to charge and use within 30%-80% range and deal with the degrading battery over the years to the extend whereby not eligible for car manufacturer warranty but still have to suck it up with the degraded battery with shorter range. In conclusion, will only buy when battery technologies has improved without having to worry about the charging and usage percentage.
    80% of 400KM range - 320KM on paper, maybe 300 in actual
20% battery efficiency degraded - 240KM range in actual lol bye

I totally agree with you on this especially when ICE SUVs now are at the range of about 200K, I will think that EVs are expensive when ICE SUVs are about 150K. But with CRVs and CX5s now fully spec at 190K+ I would rather get a Tesla Model 3. Tesla Model 3 also have better suspension, and quieter cabin. I personally saw many Model 3s on the road even on highways while I'm on my way back and forth from Penang to KL.

I think, in terms of air pollution in the city, ev should be the way to go, until hydrogen is more viable. ICE engine already reach saturation point in term of reduction air pollution. Our city air is highly polluted now becoz of exhaust from ICE engine, just look at the rain water after raining, it is dark colour. Just like smoking causing serious health problem, ICE exhaust also cause major health problems, especially respiratory disease. Standing next to refuelling petrol also increase risk of cancer. Hence i think banning ice engine car in dense populated city, sound like a common sense to me. Just like banning smoking in public space like hospital, restaurants etc. Just face it, ICE exhaust is the most contributor factor in air pollution in city and its time to make to switch for better health.

This is another face of the problem. It's always the wrong crowd of people who got the wrong kind of information. The rich crowd saw this video and concluded that EV is not a good investment, probably because the rich are very careful with their money, and proceed to buy a gas-guzzling 4.0 Liter V6 Porsche 911 instead of a BMW iX M60. But the middle class crowd sees this and thought to himself I must get an EV because it's tax-free now and most likely get burned because people like Bobby doesn't tell you the dark sides of owning an EV.

Imaging gasoline are no more needed but diesel still on demand for those heavy vehicles, will those giant oil company going to get profit just by producing and selling diesel?
