Does anyone notice that he's got the master cranked. That's where the magic is with this amp. Those el84s need some juice to open this amp up!!!?

YES YES YES!....it's amazing how many players do not understand how to use an amplifier! the master should always be approached as a way to turn an amp DOWN when it gets too loud...not the other way around! most amps sound like crap if the master is set too low and this is no exception...(unless you like that kind of sound) use it at stage volumes with the master wide open if it's too loud for the gig drop the output wattage....use the master as a LAST RESORT or you will never get the amp to really work the way it's intended...this guy get's it !!!
I use mine whit volume all the way and master as a volume

Worst amp I’ve ever owned!
It's a great amp. You can't expect a 6L6 power roar from a small EL84s but it has plenty of power and more gain that you'll ever need. EQX is a life saver, and after you spend some time with it, you can dial in awesome tones.
I don't expect it to, especially since I dont lean towards 6L6s anyway. I spent time with it and it's still the worst amp I've ever owned. Everything I've had in the following 5 years since my orginal comment confirms it for me. I dont think it's a coincidence that carvin aren't in production any more.
@@wannaberockgod9474 Curious as to why you found it wanting? I've got my eye on a used one and could benefit from some details before making a decision.
This is an old video and old comment thread, but for posterity: I own this amp and it loves humbuckers. Single coils do not sound that great on this amp.
