    Cool to see one of the earliest smartphone game franchises be so successful that it ends up with a VR game as well.

    One of the best VR puzzle games ever. Really glad this is now on PSVR2.

    Kudos to the devs for making this a free upgrade for PSVR owners.
    I enjoyed this game on PSVR, despite the mandatory click turning and node teleportation. While they don't ruin the game, I definitely would've appreciated smooth turning and full locomotion options. While I agree that the teleportation nodes funnel you into just the spots that are relevant to puzzles, I think it would have worked just as well if you could optionally see the teleportation nodes when using full locomotion (and even teleport to them if you're feeling to lazy/impatient to walk).
    It's still a great game though. Good job with the review, both past and present 👍

    Someone came up with the idea of always showing you the nodes that are possible in the room and then having an option to turn it on/off as well as full locomotion. Then you could move freely but also see where you need to go.

      @Crazafon Рік тому +4

      Throw in a super secret puzzle that can only be solved outside the nodes and you got yourself a winner.

      and he's great at keeping his reviews spoiler free.... a hard thing to do!

  • @twitcherthesingleplayergamecat

    I agreed with you in 2020 and I agree with you now. Nothing wrong with node teleport and click-turn in this instance. Usually a big turn-off but here it just makes sense.
    So happy this awesome game got a new lease of life

    basically an escape room??? this is exactly what I was hoping for VR to do! well psvr2 to do ~
    I might wait for a slight sale despite its lower price due to the smaller game length... and Im waay behind on games

    Nice review Bryan, I never played this on PSVR1, instead opting for the Quest version of the game
    Just like you I’m not a fan of teleportation, but like you say the node teleportation works and stops you wandering around aimlessly, though oddly enough I’d still like that option
    I was waiting to see what your thoughts were on the upgrade, as for me it’s a £25 outlay seeing as I didn’t get the OG version, sounds like it’s worth another playthrough, especially as you say you didn’t remember the puzzle solutions only the environments, Shame there’s no platinum for it though

    Looks really good and I never picked it up for PSVR1 so I will be getting it for 2 eventually. I've got a bunch of other stuff in the queue first. Hopefully it will go on sale before I get to it.

    Awesome, I really enjoyed this game on PSVR and it's great to hear there is a free PSVR2 upgrade. Teleport movement never bothered me with this game, because the smartphone games all revolve around double tapping on locations and items to warp over to them. So the teleportation in The Room VR is a very analogous sort of movement that feels familiar and "right" for this game series.

    gonna wait for smooth turning and so many more horror i need more, like 7th guest, phasmophobia and madison

  • @SeanLumly
    @SeanLumly Рік тому

    Ack. I would much rather smooth locomotion and smooth turning, and perhaps a design language that made interactive sections obvious.
    This is like Cosmonious high. The lack of free movement kills immersion for me, and automatically takes a game from "must play" to "I may play it eventually". Obviously, this is a deeply personal preference.

  • @jorgvervaet
    @jorgvervaet Рік тому +1

    I also loved this game on PSVR1 and now wanted to play it again on PSVR2 but I need to scan for the 2 by 2 meters otherwise I can't play this. I don't understand why they did this cause the PSVR1 version I played perfectly seated.

    • @jorgvervaet
      @jorgvervaet Рік тому

      @@Boobmates yes you can choose how you want to play but it doesn’t accept it if you choose seated for this game and if you want to play you need to scan a space of at least 2 by 2 meters

    • @UKGeezer
      @UKGeezer Рік тому +1

      This stumped me completely, because it forces you to scan your room for 2x2 metre area, but then there's a seated option in the game menu, so why does it not let you choose a seated position when setting your play area? Very confusing, and it also means you can't adjust your seated area so objects in the game are too close making it a bit tricky to interact with some objects. Hope the devs can fix this oversight.

    I played this on the Quest 2 not too long ago.
    Shame that shorter puzzle games like this don't have a lot of replay value. Maybe sometime in the future I'll get it on PS5.
    I loved this game though.

  • @julien2231

    There is no full locomotion but can you physically move through the whole room??

  • @derschnuff8819
    @derschnuff8819 Рік тому

    i get your point......but there could be a simpler and more less anti imersive solution to make important things more noticeable except to teleport players faces right into them. Highlight them, give interactive things a glow effect when you push a button....whatever... Not sure if i should get it. Teleport VR usually has no place on my console. It feels too flat for me.

    I replayed this game while I waited for the psvr2 headset release, and while I'm happy they made it for psvr2, prettier graphics isn't enough to make me play it a 3rd time. IMO they could have removed clicked turning and teleportation.... at the very least

    I have plenty to play so it is hard to justify buying but it looks great. This is a game perfectly suited to ps plus next year. I've played a bunch of games on extra I never would have spent money on because there is no replay value and short length. Harsh but competition is high for our cash.

    What a shocker! crossfire sierra previews arent looking to great. Super short, no eye tracking utilized, crappy enemy a.i., the list goes on. What is the deal with this? These are the games SONY is using to sell the freakin system?! I had way more immersion and fun in blood and truth compared to basically ALL the psvr2 games so far besides RE village and GT. I dont quite count those because there amazing, generous ports done by insanely talented studios.

      I'm at a loss. It's only been 5 months since launch and the PSVR2 library has already surpassed the Quest 2's and we're about to enter an amazing month with nonstop killer releases. I guess some people thought the entire VR industry was going to change overnight but that's just unreasonable
