One of the best VR puzzle games ever. Glad that it came to PSVR2.
And Fireproof Games are supposed to be working on a new VR title!
Thank you for reviewing the tile. Sounds great!
Excellent review…. Again!. Not sure where you find the time to make so many videos of such quality!
Objective, yet with personality.
Please keep up the awesome work.
Based on your review this is on my list to have a go at.
I really liked the original back on iPad years back. I can’t think of a better medium for this game than VR.
Keep it up GT. 👊
Thank you dude. I’m dedicated to the vr cause. Currently running on 4 hours sleep though 😞
Excited to play this all over again. Thrilled it is a free upgrade!
I remember this. Definitely a solid VR title.
Wonderful review, GT :D Played this years ago, and I need to go back and play it again now that I’ve forgotten everything about it. The environments are some of the best I’ve ever seen, and the puzzles are incredible.
Thanks for the review GT. I am glad that the hint system is there. I do get frustrated from time to time in this puzzle escape-type game and it is nice to know I could still experience the game without quitting or needing to get out f VR and check UA-camnever to return.
Nice one mush! I usually wait for a sale on the escape room type games for that very reason that they are one and done. Cheers for the review.
Thanks for watching mush
I enjoyed this game a lot on PSVR 1. Awesome that it's a free upgrade.
I agree that having node teleportation can help players because it makes it clearer where you need to go and what can be manipulated. I still would have preferred the option of walking around the environments, and they could have an option to retain node markers so you could teleport to them if you want, or just know where they are for puzzle solving purposes.
Anyway good job with the review.
Thank you 🙏
Great review GT! Been meaning to come back to this one for a while, thanks for the reminder!
I'm crazy about puzzles and I have quite a collection. So it is logical that I love Room games. Played all of them and Dark Matter was the last of them as I purchased PSVR2 only a couple of months ago. I loved it. This was my second VR game, I bought a bundle with Horizon: Call of the mountain. Excellent as well. The two games have one thing in common. I experienced fear of heights. Playing sitting helped. With time it got better. On the other hand I consider myself lucky because the games like these are thanks to my fear more exciting. I'm sure of one thing, I will play Dark Matter again, just for the feeling of being there and watching things happen when you solve something.
A great escape room game. Completed it a while back (no hints). A few taxing puzzles, but nothing overly complex. On a difficulty scale, Id give it a 6/10. But like you said, it needs to be a VR to be played the way it was intended.
I enjoyed it when it first came out on PSVR. a year or two later I played it again, originally just for a bit, but ended up completing it again. Never really found any of the puzzles too challenging. Sad that the only update is the graphics, but definitely good for any who've not played it yet.
Great review man. Was curious does the game utilize any haptics , eye tracking, or any advantages the psvr2 has over PCVR?
Only haptics were the normal ruble from touching items & interacting with objects
Thanks for the review.
Looking forward to this as never played
Awesome review mate!! The graphics look amazing on the PSVR2 version. Cant wait to give this a try!
I did have a few side by side issues in a few games i've played. Both Drums rock and unplugged have done it a few times now. It's very disorientating. 😅
Thank you and yeah I’m seeing this in the comments too
Never played but it looks good and have heard good things on quest.
Good review, did enjoy this on q2 so maybe worth another play through
Yeah it’s great on Quest 2
@GAMERTAGVR haven't played it since it came out so I doubt I'd remember all the puzzles. Its a bit of a hidden gem so might be worth doing for my channel for the new psvr2 peeps.
I enjoyed this on PSVR1 and yes I did use a few hints. Had I not I may have lost interest and not finished the game. I did only use them after I was completely out of ideas. The only one puzzle I really hated was the music / ball one. Not sure if it was the controllers that made it so tough or just me. Glad it’s come over the PSVR2.
Played this game twice it’s absolutely fantastic you really have to work hard to work out the puzzles sometimes you think you’re totally baffled but eventually the penny will drop it’s so rewarding absolutely fantastic and it’s coming to PSVR two
I was a bit disappointed because it ended
Thanks GT.
Thanks GT, is there much of an upgrade from the Quest 2 version? I played it through on that headset and loved it. That side by side issue is interesting, I’ve had it happen quite often on various PSVR2 games but never on the PSVR1 or Quest/Quest2
Its funny you mention that side by side issue, i tried playing after the fall again last night and i kept getting something similar happening, where the world almost went 2d or flat for a moment. Massively disorienting.
Really? How often did that happen? I tested after the fall and it didn’t happen at all. How much gameplay did you do
@@GAMERTAGVR I've had quite a few hours in it now. It didn't happen when I first played it at the psvr2 launch, redownloaded it the other day because a friend has recently got a psvr2 and wanted something we could play co-op before Phasmophobia comes out. Happened a few times, more than once per level. Really awkward when it happened mid fight and you lose depth perception.
I think it's a known bug in the Unity game engine. I've heard about it happening in a few different games. Hopefully the developers (of the engine or the game) can sort it out.
@@GreyMatterShades hmm. I must admit I've only encountered it in after the fall, does the room use unity as well?
@@grimmcrag8715 I believe so, yes. Some quick googling seems to corroborate it.
GG GT! 👊😎
Is this roomscale only? I couldn't fire it up sitting
No use of PSVR2 features such as eye tracking, head haptics, or adaptive triggers?
Not really. Regular haptics
This game is great and the environments are mind-blowing. I played it on Quest 2 and I enjoyed every minute. Is it still missing a locomotion system other than roomscale 6dof + teleport to fixed positions? I hated that I wasn't able to explore the map freely. That was my only complaint about the game and I'm not alone, the last time I checked I saw this had been a feature request for years.
Yeah GT says in the review that it's still snap turning and teleportation. I'm with you, I'd love to be able to explore. Knowing where the nodes are would be useful as an option (as those are the locations where all the interaction happens), but the immersion would be greatly enhanced with full locomotion.
@@GreyMatterShades I heard the point about focusing the player's attention but there are examples of puzzle games out there with free locomotion that work quite well. For example, I quite enjoyed Pop Escape on VRChat
@@jadrankoVRCatalans Yeah there are definitely a lot of VR puzzle games that make full locomotion work. I'd say the majority of them at least have the option. I still enjoyed The Room VR a lot on PSVR 1, even with the lack of full locomotion, but it would be great if they'd give us the option.
Wow
does it use reprojection or not?
Tell me if I’m. Wrong I own a psvr2 myself but I feel like it’s better with a quest2 don’t know why the feeling
Its only roomscale😢
You teleport to an area and move within it yes
If you cant set up room scale you cant play game I haven't got 2m by2m
@@robertchant9627 I’ve never recommended less than 2mx2m play space and most developers follow this rule for guardians and safe boundaries. Hope you can find a new spot to play and if not yeah that’s no good
@@robertchant9627 You can get around this problem and play seated. Set your play area normally, and then edit the area to make it bigger so that it accepts the 2x2 test. Don't worry if the area goes through any furniture, in fact you want include your seated position inside your edited play area. After you confirm the area you just set, the game will ask if you want to play seated. Select seated, and now you can play the game in your seated position. You can also choose seated mode in the game's menu if it doesn't ask.
Cool - more Quest 2 ports with no real effort. PSVR2 is awesome!
Playing an entire game just for a review is an INSANE metric to try to live up to .
Best part about playing thousands of games is it gives some people the ability to know what a game is fairly quickly .
You KNOW your shit , no reason to let other questioning that effect what your doing .
The FEW that cannot understand that people have different tastes are NOT who you need to please .
Reviews about saving money . “ this best VR game “ has been said about MOST VR games ….
I LOVE VR , but I don’t like all games and neither does anyone else . VR so personal people can return a game over a simple game mechanic they don’t like .
One persons pro another’s con so even pro/ con lost has to be different then anything else lol
VR game reviews harder then flat 10 fold . On flat at least most have been playing long enough to know MOST content creators are ECHO CHAMBERS of what that particular creator likes … but state it all in “ fact” form and not what really is in an opinion.
So most flat game reviewers are useless and only keep subs through negativity and those are not even gamers …. Real gamer would never act like that .
They people that saw what one person did with a UA-cam channel and wanted it so they could do UA-cam for a living …… but barely ANY of them know how to actual review a game or understand different tastes .
I don’t even play flat pvp ever anymore it got flooded with so many “ non gamers “
Your an ACTUAL gamer in the middle of a bunch of posers … sucks I know , but you know what you’re doing . Promise , keep it up 😎😎😎
Thank dude. You're so encouraging of me. I really really appreciate you and everything bring to the community
first

This game is roomscale only so basically all they have done is completely ruin the game. Who the hell has 2x2 metres of space free in their room? Not many. Why change a game that was seated (which is should be) to room scale? Why when it’s teleport only? Or am I missing something here? Why would you not even give users the option? So basically now hardly anyone will play the game on psvr2 nor buy it. I waited all this time to play it on psvr2 via upgrade and now I can’t even after the release. Joke!
