I was at MEPs yesterday to take my ASVAB which I have to retake, originally got a 64 AFQT on my Picat but thanks to Covid they wouldn't allow me to take the verification since it was longer than 30 days.. when I took the actual test I bombed so badly aha. But overall we went to a hotel the day before, waited 2 hours outside in 90degree weather to get into the hotel, had a covid survey, took our temperature and than we went inside waited on another line to give our ID, SSC and Branch than they gave us a room key and we had to stay in our room till dinner. Thankfully we got there early because by dinner which was 5pm people were still on a line waiting to just get in- YIKES. We woke up at 3am and headed to MEPs after breakfast which they gave us a brown paper bag with an egg burrito, water, orange juice and yogurt. There were 3 buses, A, B, C. I got on the second A bus which was after the other buses left. I know Abby says sit in the front but if you're like me a bit lost in the stars *daydreamer* sit in the MIDDLE, that was you can follow the person in front of you out and copy what they do (if you learn that way at least) it's super helpful, if I was confused I asked the person in front of me so when I went up I did exactly what I was suppose to. They had us get off the bus and stand around for maybe an hour, Three lines, one for Test takers, second for Shippers and Physicals were in another. People taking Physicals were let in first, than test takes and finally shippers. We got processed went through a metal detector, emptied our pockets, left our bags in a bin in the backroom. You do not get patted or scanned unless you set off the detector. (TIMES HAVE CHANGED.) They don't have lockers anymore, just cameras in the room to make sure no one steals. After that we got our fingerprints done, took a federal ID photo, got a sticker with our info which we had to wear AT ALL TIMES. Headed down to the basement and took the test for about an hour, than we waited in the basement cafeteria with a tv that cuts off every few seconds to static, saying it has no connection. You had to sign in to get food, don't worry they have vegetarian options as well! (I ended up sitting for 6 hours 😫 ) If that's all clear you just wait for my recruiter to pick you up.. Some people get there score right after they take it, I had to wait. Edot: OH AND BRING A HOODIE, EVEN IF IT'S HOT THE BUILDING IS F R E E Z I NG. Sidenote: with the ASVAB you take two other tests, a personality test, and a job option test. Basically just the most bizarre and wild questions like, do you date multiple people for fun vs I was a class clown because I needed attention. Stuff like that- they'll explain it to you. And the other being like I prefer to work with numbers, or less people etc etc. Super easy, be honest, but don't screw yourself if you know what I mean *nudge nudge*

I just went through MEPS a few days ago. It wasn’t even as bad as I thought. Everyone else going through MEPS was chill for the most part. Only thing that caught me off guard was that there were people joining other branches there. Just stick to what you talked to your recruiter about (criminal/medical history, etc) and you’ll be fine.
My meps experience was totally different, due to the covid stuff they wouldn’t allow us to do anything besides sit in our rooms. And we did not have roommates, when we got our voucher for dinner and breakfast we where told to get our food and eat it in our rooms. During the examinations... vision, blood, pee test... etc.. we had to constantly wear a mask. Besides that it was somewhat normal .. I swore in 20200508.. 11X airborne my shipment date is July 26th.. fort benning. Wish me luck! And thank you for everyone that is serving or has! You all where my inspiration for me to want to join!!!
Babyridesolo williams download an app on the apple store called “Asvab” my recruiter suggested it and most of the test questions on that app where on the actual test. I scored decent even tho I picked a low score MOS. The app is legit just a star with “Asvab” on it.
I just got disqualified today. My liaison said that it would take 1-2 weeks to get my waiver, but I literally got it within an hour. I was waiting for my driver when I got a phone call to hurry up and talk to somebody in the liaison office so I could stay at the hotel tonight. I enlist tomorrow. I was so bummed bc I knew that my job wouldn’t be open in 1-2 weeks. Was it god? A miracle? Whatever it was, I’m hype as hell.
(2013) When I went to MEPS there was a girl that was supposed to ship to basic training that day. They did the usual urine test and it turned out she was pregnant. Instantly disqualified. Worst part was that I heard her say to them "I don't know who the father could be, there were so many guys". This girl was about 18 too...so sad. I also saw a lot of guys that couldn't pee because they just didn't have water in them or they had "stage fright". My tactic was to not pee at all that day until I had to do it in the cup (I usually have to go as soon as I wake up in the mornings, but held it in for a few hours so I could give them enough). Overall I'd say MEPS isn't a scary experience at all unless you're hiding a medical situation, they find about 78% of health issues at MEPS; however, I know guys that have been active for 3 years that had depression and such and they lied about not having it when they joined and no one found out because they can't access your medical records unless you give them permission to (usually only happens in an emergency). When I went they gave people a chance to go home without being disqualified for weed being in their system; they said to us "if you don't think you'll pass the urine test, go home now and you won't be disqualified, just come back in 2 months". Last piece of advice: make sure you get the job your recruiter said you could get. Make sure you get in writing why you can or can't have the job you want. They had me choose a job that wasn't the same as the one my recruiter said I could get because "they're not taking people right now". I could have said to them "that's fine, I'll just come back another time then when that job is available." Don't let them pressure you into taking a job you don't want, because you won't be able to get out of your contract once you sign it at MEPS!!
@@rae356 Correct, just don't have any anti-depressants and stuff like that in your system when you go to MEPS because the test literally checks for every type of drug imaginable. These are military urine tests, not the ones you get when you apply for a job. They caught something in a guy's system he didn't use for 6 months, so I saw how powerful these tests were. But yeah, if you check "no" on everything then it will be as if you don't have anything. They'll never know unless you tell them or if you get hurt later on in the service and they may access it that way.
I WAS ONE WHO HAD TO TAKE THE TEST OVER AGAIN!! It was so annoying and then after I was done my recruiter told me he didn’t know why I took it over again because I passed the confirmation 😭
(MEPS - Dallas, TX, Aug 1978) I love walking, and walk fast. The best comment that I got was that I'll make a great military member because of my walking....Joined the USAF in August 78, and retired July 31, 2000...Best career decision that I ever made....Funny side note: My step-dad told me that if the AF won't have me that he'd get me into the Army's artillery school....lol
Got randomly selected even though I matched my score on the verification test at MEPS. Sucked but Got the same score at the end of full test again so big waste of time!
Just to clarify.... The Acne part is only if you have a Dr. diagnosed Acne, not just regular Acne... apply that to everything. If it isn't with a Dr., don't bother mentioning it.
My MEPS experience was horrible. I had a horrible doctor. When I stumbled during the duck walk she said I failed, she picked up my file and gave me the biggest attitude. While she was checking my breasts, I didn’t understand what she wanted me to take off my robe and she yelled at me and asked my if I understood English😒......... I passed everything but the duck walk and have to come back in 2 weeks. Sorry guys I don’t mean to display all MEPS experiences look bad I just needed to rant😅. I really hope you guys have a better and more smooth experience.
Dang, I'm sorry you had such a tough time! I have definitely heard horror stories about how tough some of these doctors and attendants can be. Good luck on your next time around, it'll be worth it in the end!
Thanks for posting this. I just won a job with the Air Force bands and it was really nice to hear a fellow musician’s experience. I’m right under the weight standard too, so I’m hoping I won’t be too dehydrated for the pee test either. 😂 I just graduated with my master’s as well, and am so excited for this career. Hopefully things are still going well for you in the Army!
When I took the verification exam for the PiCAT. I had much harder questions. Fifty to sixty percent were exactly the same from the PiCAT but the rest were more complex multi step mathematical problems. At one point I had questions regarding physics in terms of finding weight of an object regarding its force using Newton’s law.

I was in a similar boat of being disqualified for different reasons. I went into a MEPS virigina center in 2014 and drove there myself. Got to the part with the doctor to weigh me on a scale. Found out for my height I was underweight for miminum requirement of the Coast guard. That was my branch and the Navy was the only one that didnt have this which he told me about. I still was upset my time was wasted and I was sent home to make a decision with my recruiter. He was pretty ignorant and naive when I told him what happened he said he didn't know that weight would be a problem and never saw that before. Could have wrote a waiver but I get why weight is important especially when you have to pull people out of the ocean and save lives. Ended up going to another career choice and never looked back.
I have my MEPS next week on January 21st, hope it goes well. Ill post an update when Its over! Update: When I got to the hotel and settled in, I texted my recruiter and told him that I'm there and ready for the AFOQT and physical the following day. He then replies that I was only taking the AFOQT. So I will probably have to come back and do this experience again for the actual full physical. Just a heads up if you take the AFOQT. it's a tough and fast paced exam. There may be sections like Math or Block Counting that you might not be able to answer the questions all in a timely manner; that is the goal of the test. Puts you in a time crunch to solve issues and challenges. Don't be discouraged but try the best you can. That's another goal of the test to see your weakness and strong points. I have to wait a week for my results, I might update again on the results.
@@GreatGuyVideos Didn't get high enough score on the math portions to get in as a Pilot. I realized later that the material I studied was ASVAB material. If I would have took the ASVAB I know I would have done well but that math got me on the AFOQT. I didn't take the second round of the test (6 months elapsed since first try) because I landed a job in corporate aviation as a pilot. So I'm happy where I'm at.
I forgot to mention that I barely read English but even so I think I will risk everything for that dream because if someone else who also stopped due to the same situation did it I think I can too.
Urinalysis was the worst. Same experience. They make u wait while u really have to go. Guys have the civilians watching them while they pee and talking to them. It’s crazy. Never had so much drama with peeing.
i failed because my body fat percentage was 26% and the max is 24%, however It’s been a week since I came back from meps and i’m at 25% body fat and I have a solid 2-3 weeks till they send me back up to redo my height and weight
All kidding aside, one of the questions on my ASVAB was a picture of a lion and a picture of a wrench; you are to identify which one of them is a "tool"... No joke. That was 35 years ago, but I'll never forget that.
im currently waiting for my shuttle back home from meps, 4 hour drive 😮💨 idk what i was so nervous about, everything went smooth & quick, wasnt even a thought about being naked in front of strangers lol
I went to MEPS in February when it was still “normal.” At the end they said all I need is a waiver. Okay cool. Well, COVID happened and my waiver is still in the air not accepted or denied..... and it is nearly October. I have been told there are other people waiting long times around here too. Not sure if anyone has waited as long as me, but yeah.

MEPS was a horrible experience! My first time there i went thru everything and they did my asvab last. Turns out my score wasn’t good enough for the limited jobs available. So after all that i was like wow i wasted my days off on this. I went in at 25 so i had brain dumped everything i ever learned in school. So i did a refresh course, went back to MEPS and did the whooooole experience again since i waited so long to go back and then scored well on the asvab and then shipped out to boot a couple months later. I did 5 years in the military with my 1 year extension and went home! Hearing the word MEPS makes me cringe every time!!!!!! It’s worse than nails on a chalk board
When I went to meps for the first time I failed because I couldn’t rotate my ankles.. I just didn’t have the muscle memory. I went back a month later and rotated my ankles and got past lol. Kinda funny.
Is the universe trying to tell me something, my doctor asked me if I had been to the er for anything else and I slipped and said I had pneumonia and now I got to get the medical records for that
I hate how some MEPS will literally treat you less than human. I'm sorry that happened to you, you should be able to request at least a female attendant.
I was literally the youngest at meps I went to the one in Jacksonville I was there a month after I turned 17 everyone was like omg your so young lol I’m going as an MP hopefully work up to a K-9 unit my meps experience wasn’t to bad there mixed up my paperwork a little but nothing to bad.

I love your video very much. I think you are able to be the Army band officer. You can try to apply to be an officer first when you are enlisted and see or you can just go to officer training school after the enlistment contract years.
What if I have scars I've never been to the hospital for? I have one on my eyebrow since I was really young and I have one on my arm from a heat blister I had drained w a needle and put a band-aid on and I've never been to the hospital for either.
If you’ve not been to the hospital to have the scar patched up when it was open then do not mention it to the doctor. Tbh unless you’ve had major surgery the doctors are not going to question your scars. I hope that helps
I went to Cleveland MEPS as well! Had to go through everything to be told I couldn't finish and had to go back the next week which is in 3 days due to too much earwax in my ears even though I passed my hearing test with flying colors!! Good luck to you and your future!
@@AbbyWeaver haha I go back to the hotel today. And tomorrow will be my second day of hell lmao. But hey at least after this it’s done and over with and don’t have to look back. Hi thank you for making this video. I watched another video that said when they went to the control room and had to leave their bag that can only use their glasses.. is this where you could ask to have your contact supplies with you or is that later? I think this is when they were checking in.
Hi, I'm not sure if this info will get to you on time, but definitely take all that with you, there was a girl who didn't have it and fortunately for her, the MEPS had contact solution for her to store them during the eye exam.
My recruiter and everyone warned me how unpleasant MEPS can be and I somehow got very lucky and only came in contact with amazing doctors and people who were all in great moods and were happy to be there (not sure if that’s as abnormal as they made it seem haha) but just remember everything you told your recruiter and what you put down on your medical forms & you’ll be fine! Like she said, they can’t pull your info unless you give them a reason to suspect something! Edit: the hearing test during COVID made it a little hard since you’re in a tiny box with headphones and a mask, sometimes I had to hold my breath so I could hear whatever quite sound was being made (instead of hearing myself breath under the mask LOL) Sorry edit #2: I ended up not getting a roommate, (I was the only girl at our hotel, and one of two at MEPS total) and did the Monday full day processing so I only stayed overnight for the one night! (& we were offered dessert lol) No earrings/piercings & I also had to take my toenail polish off as well. BUT YES 1000% LISTEN TO THE DIRECTIONS GIVEN AND FOLLOW THEM
So, my recruiter is having me go to meps this week before my picat expires, but I know that I won’t pass the physical yet since I’m still over weight as of now. Then what? Do I have to do it all again later when I’m actually ready to pass meps? Also, I want to be a 42R and I just got the music from the Midwest band recruiter, but I’m a senior in high school, and I know that this music is hard compared to much of the other stuff I’ve done. However, I do play the euphonium and I know that that instrument is not as competitive as most of the rest. I’m an all state player...without knowing me, I suppose, do you think I still have a good shot if I put forth my best? Or should I not even bother with that MOS because I don’t have a degree or prior professional experience like a lot of the rest?
I went 2 weeks ago and my body fat was 2% over but I did something called the Arms program which you can do to get into a different job that doesn’t have a weight requirement. I was going to the Army for culinary but since I didn’t pass the weight I’m going to be a Combat Engineer.
I passed was very nervous though. Through some story’s I heard. But all in all it wasn’t bad at all. I hope this makes y’all comfortable. I passed the ASVAB first was a great test environment no yelling. Then next day was the physical. Heard so many BS story’s they’re all lies or back in nam lol. The physical was very easy it went by extremely fast. Than after I swore in. And here I am waiting for ship date. To all you guys reading this MEPS is very easy just don’t lie to the doctor and make height and weight. You should be 👍

@@jewelgibson9499 I see what you mean. There will be plenty of culture shock. If you can already run 2 miles non-stop, that will make army boot camp easier to get through.
Hey! not Abby, but I passed the ASVAB with a 96 score out of 99. I used UA-cam and bought a book with practice tests. I believe the test differs depending on the branch, I'm enlisting with the navy. I hear ASVAB for Dummies is a good study guide as well. I would say to reinforce your knowledge of long division, fractions and percentages. Good luck!
It's fine, they won't ask you if you have a PCP. But it would be good for you to know your body and physical condition so there are no surprises. MEPS isn't as bad as the recruiters make it sound, it's mostly long and boring.
Yeah like I don’t have any medical conditions or anything. The only thing I’m worried about is my vision. Because when I was younger I got got into a lot of fights and long story short my left eye is weak and my right eye controls my vision. Like if I close my right eye it’s blurry not terrible but it’s blurry. I use to have contacts but stop buying them cause I couldn’t afford them. So I just hope they don’t disqualify me for that. My recruiter said if it’s something glasses can fix then I’ll be good but I just don’t wanna go there and turns out I can’t join because my stupid left eye 😔
What branch are you joining? And how blurry is it? I'm near sighted and use glasses and definitely need a new prescription, but that didn't get me disqualified, but like I said, you should know in what kind of condition you're in. Try to go to the eye doctor and find out what kind of condition your eye is in. You'll probably need glasses or get eye surgery. I hope you have health insurance that can cover your appointment
I'm joining the army. It's only blurry far away. Close up its not too bad. I actually don’t have insurance. I mean I have Medicare but that won’t cover any eye exams or surgery. I’m homeless living in my car so money, resources, everything is super limited right now.
What was the sections on the verification test & also was it really the same question ? because my recruiter tells me it going to be exact same questions on the verification test
lol my meps experience in 2002 age 17 turning 18 MEPS: Are you breathing ? Me: Yes... MEPS: You're good to go. Duty Station Schofield Barrack 4 months in : We're being deployed to Iraq. Me 2 years 7 months later in iraq : Screw this im out.
I have quite a few issues. I have many acne scars on my face and back, I have a lump in my breast, and I may be underweight. What does all of this mean for me??
i know this kid who got disqualified while i was at meps for his acne. doctor wrote mild acne for me though and it didnt hurt my process at all. the lump in your breast will get you disqualified and they will have you go to a doctor and pull all these kinds of records to see if it’s cancer or if it’s just a lump. and recruiters should weigh you before hand so you can make proper diet changes
No! Don’t do this, they will try to talk you into it. But if they don’t accept ur audition you’re stuck! Just wait until you find out the results of your audition
I gotta wait too! I got sent home for having one little blister on my foot from swimming so I can go to Special Forces.. now i gotta wait two weeks for a waiver smh
What is the difference between the medicals they do at MEPS and the one they do at reception. I was just wondering that I just did my physical exam and I will be going to Basic in 2 weeks
It is a lot of the same! Bloodwork, vision, dental. No duck walk! Haha. I have an entire video on my channel about my reception experience at Fort Jackson! Good luck, friend!
Malachi Smith that’s not why they might make you take the asvab anyway they randomly select people to take the asvab as part of a study to compare to the picat
Katelynn Caldwell if you have scars, it depends on how you explain it to them, if you want to pass say that they’re old and you haven’t cut in years, they constantly pressure you to admit things, if you don’t break you’ll be dine
How would yall ensure passing the first time I go to MEPs I'm a guy and also I took my asvab and passed but my recruiter said they will make me take a conformation test what if I fail the conformation test
Damari Brackett I had the same situation. They most likely will put you on a computer and make you do the confirmation. I forgot the exact number but they might throw in some ones you don’t know too. I failed the confirmation, if you do they quickly switch you to the real ASVAB. Take it there and you’ll get your score in an hour or so. Idk what happens if you fail the ASVAB the second time. I swore in a few weeks ago.
Are there religious waivers possible to not be immodest for the underwear olympics (like leggings and tee shirt instead)? Or possible to skip any naked physicals/"under the hood" checking? The "down under" is between God, myself and my husband. I am not comfortable being exposed in front of anyone, its also considered immoral for me to be indecent in front of others. Has anyone gotten a waiver for this?
In my experience of being there, no. For where I just had MEPS, though, we didn't have the group underwear olympics. It was one on one with the doctor who was a female (if it would've been a male, they allowed us to ask for a female chaperone). The naked physicals aren't too bad either, for me it was the same doctor that I did one on one screening 'underwear olympics with'. She had me put on a paper hospital gown, checked my breathing, did like a 3 second look at my chest, and like a glance 'down under' to make sure there were no rashes and that I am a female. It's honestly not that bad for MEPS, not sure about later on, but for MEPS I was fine. I wouldn't let this alone discourage you since it isn't overall that bad, but ultimately it is up to you. If you think you'll have an issue with the 'underwear olympics' with other ladies, you likely won't enjoy the fact that for basic training everyone showers together or the fact you have to get a pap smear every few years. Maybe look into careers for the State Department? I'm not sure their requirements, but it might be more lenient!
angelmushahf yes, bring them and I don’t know if this is too late lol but you will need them in basic until they give you a new prescription in basic if you’re joining the AirForce lol.

Gl. I wanna pass the asvab. What should I do
Babyridesolo williams download an app on the apple store called “Asvab” my recruiter suggested it and most of the test questions on that app where on the actual test.

Congratulations!!
Do you need to turn at the duck walk
@@erinmerrill102003 Yeah, they also have you speed walk diagonally
@@themaddog8144 Correct, that would be a HIPPA violation otherwise. As my recruiter told me "If you don't put yes, it doesn't exist"
@@kingcarlos7048 so if i put no on everything they cant check? Or just on the things that i put yes on?
@@rae356 Correct, just don't have any anti-depressants and stuff like that in your system when you go to MEPS because the test literally checks for every type of drug imaginable. These are military urine tests, not the ones you get when you apply for a job. They caught something in a guy's system he didn't use for 6 months, so I saw how powerful these tests were. But yeah, if you check "no" on everything then it will be as if you don't have anything. They'll never know unless you tell them or if you get hurt later on in the service and they may access it that way.

The best comment that I got was that I'll make a great military member because of my walking....Joined the USAF in August 78, and retired July 31, 2000...Best career decision that I ever made....Funny side note: My step-dad told me that if the AF won't have me that he'd get me into the Army's artillery school....lol
Wow! So much has changed from my experience from back in 2004. They practically rolled out the red carpet for us until we arrived at basic training.

When I took the verification exam for the PiCAT. I had much harder questions.
Update:
When I got to the hotel and settled in, I texted my recruiter and told him that I'm there and ready for the AFOQT and physical the following day.

Also, I want to be a 42R and I just got the music from the Midwest band recruiter, but I’m a senior in high school, and I know that this music is hard compared to much of the other stuff I’ve done. However, I do play the euphonium and I know that that instrument is not as competitive as most of the rest. Hey! not Abby, but I passed the ASVAB with a 96 score out of 99. I used UA-cam and bought a book with practice tests. I believe the test differs depending on the branch, I'm enlisting with the navy. Right!?
I’m homeless living in my car so money, resources, everything is super limited right now.

i know this kid who got disqualified while i was at meps for his acne. doctor wrote mild acne for me though and it didnt hurt my process at all. the lump in your breast will get you disqualified and they will have you go to a doctor and pull all these kinds of records to see if it’s cancer or if it’s just a lump. and recruiters should weigh you before hand so you can make proper diet changes
I have a lump in my breath but it's just a cyst
Did you have to sign your contract before you took your live audition?

@@katelynncaldwell2721 they will permantly disqualify you for that
How would yall ensure passing the first time I go to MEPs I'm a guy and also I took my asvab and passed but my recruiter said they will make me take a conformation test what if I fail the conformation test
I swore in a few weeks ago.
can you pee/ go to bathroom anytime while waiting?
If i had a Suicide attempt 2018 would that be on my record were maps could find it.?
Are there religious waivers possible to not be immodest for the underwear olympics (like leggings and tee shirt instead)? Or possible to skip any naked physicals/"under the hood" checking? The "down under" is between God, myself and my husband. I am not comfortable being exposed in front of anyone, its also considered immoral for me to be indecent in front of others. Has anyone gotten a waiver for this?
No, they have to check everything or you can’t get in.
I'm not sure their requirements, but it might be more lenient!
we had to stand next to eachother and take 1 big step back from the urinals and start to pee into a cup 😭
I did the practice test and I scored 55 , and I was recommended to take the PICAT.
I want to know after the PICAT there's more test to do?
When you take the PICAT, you’ll have to “confirm” your test score at the MEPS.
If you have glasses should you bring your prescription? Should you bring any medical records with you?
angelmushahf yes, bring them and I don’t know if this is too late lol but you will need them in basic until they give you a new prescription in basic if you’re joining the AirForce lol. I have buddies in almost every different branch and one of them that’s army brought his glasses and they gave him new ones later on
You don’t need your prescription but yes bring your glasses. I got my Army glasses in reception but some people didn’t get theirs for a week or so.
