if it was frozen I wouldn't trust it afterwards, I would use it as a practice canister after that. I try to be careful about storing canisters with temperature extremes. That said I have worn it on cold mornings below freezing and haven't worried too much because it wasn't stored below freezing and being in my chest rig it probably gets enough heat from my body to function ok.
I am considering using it as a deterrent while walking on a trail, as it is not safe as woman to do so. I even bought a practice canister. Not sure I can find someone to make me a storage pvc pipe, would it be ok to travel 4 miles in the car, wrapped in a towel, placed in a ziploc, and should I store my can upside down in my house? Thanks so much. PVC storage, who could make one for me? Plumber, hardware store?
Thanks for sharing your knowledge, Sir ! Your respect and love for the outdoors is inspiring. Greetingz from France
You're welcome
Thanks for the tips that’s a must have in spots I go to hear in Alberta!
Same here. The Yellowstone population is expanding in SW Montana and places I would have gone to by myself a few years ago I won't now.
@@406MountainBoys oh wow that bad eh? We also use bear bangers if your familiar with those. They make a loud noise and are supposed to help!
It's not good or bad necessarily, just is what it is and have to be more careful and pay attention.
@@406MountainBoys yeah I agree!
Does freezing affect bear spray when it thaws ?

CounterAssault makes a hard sided storage container with a screw on lid, that might be the better way to go if you can't DIY one.
@@406MountainBoys thanks so much
