Rik was such a comedic force. Have you seen any of the series Bottom? If not you need to, especially the live shows. His character is just as horny as Lord Flashhart but is a complete and utter loser and virgin. With him and Ade Edmondson it's absolute comedy gold. And you can find the full shows on UA-cam. At least you used to be able to. Another great vid, thanks guys. Random tidbit my local amateur theater did a take on Blackadder Goes Forth 3 years ago and I played Bob. Was such a fun time.
I was young British Army soldier watching this when it came out whilst on guard duties in early 90s. Ril May all clip as SAS Sgt in Whoops Apocalypse film is legendary. We had a Sgt just like him. We were watching it one stag duty in the Outer Hebs in 91. He was Orderly Sgt. He walked in exactly as Rik Mayalls part came up. The whole guard shift in the guard room in-between patrols never laughed so much. 😢😢
RIP Rik Mayall god blessed him with enormous talent. It was a shame he did not do so well in America though, but Drop Dead Fred did become a cult classic in the end. I am not knocking his time in America he was just to zany for American audiences at the time. People are still laying flowers at the lights in Hammersmith Broadway London. Thats where the opening scene for Bottom was made. Thats another Rabbit hole as well Bottom. The riot episode is my favourite one.

Rik Mayall... From my home town... Local hero... Always a genius of comedic lines and just... Anarchy. His various partnerships with Ade Edmondson are the stuff(s?) of paradise... Tragedy.
Fun fact: Lord Flash-heart was inspired by 'Flashman' from the books by George MacDonald Fraser, who in turn took the character from the classic book 'Tom Brown's School Days' where he's the dastardly school bully. Flashman is an anti-hero. His public image is a hero of the British Empire, brave, noble and the very essence of a victorian gentleman. In reality he's a cad, a bounder, a coward, a womaniser and all round rotter of the Terry Thomas variety. Unfortunately because everyone thinks he's a hero he's volunteered for every suicidal mission going and spends most of his time trying to wriggle out of it, but ends up jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire. That's when he's not trying to tumble some good looking filly with a cracking top-hamper.😆 The books are a combination of historical fiction, fast paced adventure and hilarious comedy. Some of the most enjoyable books I've ever read. George MacDonald Fraser also wrote a number of screenplays including the James Bond film Octopussy and several of the Muskateer films of the 70s starring Oliver Read.

You should react to the bit of Blackadder when they meet the Red Baron.... And under the humour a serious point. New pilots during world war 1 were expected to last 20 minutes in combat - Lest we forget...

There are some brilliant clips from the live stage play of Bottom with him and Adrian Edmonson going seriously and hilariously off-script - it's well worth hunting them down.

Glad you enjoy them as much as us Brits do... They're all fantastic!
Rik Mayall was a comedy genius, everything he did was funny.
The Young Ones, Blackadder, Bottom...even the Nintendo TV adverts he made were quality too.
Taken way too soon, forever missed.
Rik Mayall... From my home town... Local hero... Always a genius of comedic lines and just... Anarchy. His various partnerships with Ade Edmondson are the stuff(s?) of paradise... Tragedy.
Never gets old as you say. Pure genius..
Yes! One of my favourite clips of all time from Blackadder and Rik Mayalls performances 😁❤️
You have to watch The Young Ones if you like Rik Mayall .It was really groundbreaking .Watch a whole programme though .
you two should watch Bottom Live 1 featuring Rik Mayall & Ade Edmonson at their absolute crazy best. You would piss yourself laughing
Would be a good one for their new movie patreon. Going by the scenes they enjoy they would love it!
Love your videos guys, one of if not my favourite channels on UA-cam. Keep up the awesome work guys ❤️
Squadron Commander Flashheart is almost certainly based in part on real life RFC ace Edward 'Mick' Mannock
Oh man, hilarious!!! I was living over there when these first came out on VHS, I had them all!! So funny!!! Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
The series is over 30 years old but still feels fresh. Hasn't dated at all.
Rik was an absolute legend
That's when he's not trying to tumble some good looking filly with a cracking top-hamper.😆
The books are a combination of historical fiction, fast paced adventure and hilarious comedy. Some of the most enjoyable books I've ever read.
George MacDonald Fraser also wrote a number of screenplays including the James Bond film Octopussy and several of the Muskateer films of the 70s starring Oliver Read.
Flashman sounds like A Bad Egg..
You guys have to do full episodes of this season. Really, it's what we are all waiting for! Thanks for the reaction lads
Read the whole video title bud...
@@AD270479 I don't pay for things on youtube. But I still want to see it. I don't have a problem with telling the lads that. That sort it out for you BUD
My favourite British show, the whole show is brilliant!
Hugh Laurie is one of most underrated comedy actors ever. he is magnificent.
I really liked Blackadder and am glad you are watching it. I will warn you that the series ending is a major gut punch though...
Show me an American comedy that is genuinely THIS HILARIOUS
For some reason I can never picture House and Lt. George as being the same actor. Hugh Laurie is incredible.
It was scenes such as these that made it very difficult for me to take House seriously as a dramatic character. :D On top of that, I remembered seeing Jesse Spencer when he starting acting in 1994 in the Australian soap Neighbours. :P
I swear I've been laughing at this scene since as I was about 10yrs old though fully understood it more as I've got older and it funnier still. Never gets old. This series and the Queen 1 are my favourite!
Ps I've just turned 43!
I see Edmund and George are already sporting their wings! That is before they have had any flight trading. That's what you call fast tracking.
You should react to the bit of Blackadder when they meet the Red Baron....
And under the humour a serious point. New pilots during world war 1 were expected to last 20 minutes in combat - Lest we forget...
These are comedy legends and gold coming from the UK, You should have seen Rick Mayall in "the young ones"
House at his best 😂❤
Rik is my all time funniest person ever to have walked the board's...RIP RIK
Me too…nothing or no one has made me laugh more than Rik Mayall
You two guys need to check out 'Flash heart' in Blackadder II. He's hilarious. Blackadder II, set in the Elizabethan era.
Rik Mayall is like Billy Connolly in that everyone loves him unconditionally and he would call you a bastard for even suggesting it🤣
Should check out Man Down, the series where he plays Greg Davies's Dad. He did one series before he sadly passed but it is f**king hilarious!
Rim Mayall. Absolute legend. Kevin Turkey. Young Ones. Bottom. Blackadder. One of a kind. RIP Sir.
* Kevin Turvey
Great snippet fellas🫶🏽😂😂😂😂
Rik Mayall as Captain Flashheart was brilliant. A great talent gone too soon. He was in a string of British sitcoms including The Young Ones, Bottom, and The New Statesman. There are some brilliant clips from the live stage play of Bottom with him and Adrian Edmonson going seriously and hilariously off-script - it's well worth hunting them down.
Armistice day Sunday. Please please react to we’re here because we’re here. Volunteers take the part of men who died in WW1. Very moving 😢
You guys should go all the way back to the 1st Blackadder… they came on down through the centuries. I think series 2 or 3 had Queenie and Lord Melchett. Wonderful stuff!
Please please please do blackadder courtroom scene from the fourth series (season). My favourite scene out of the entire blackadder series. Absolutely genius and has all the main characters at their funniest.
If you like Blackadder, you guys should watch Bottom. Both the tv shows and live shows will have you in stitches. Watch episodes, 'Gas', 'Terror' and 'Hole' and you won't be disappointed. 🤣
Rik Mayall such a talent RIP
Hugh Laurie of house fame along with numerous Brit legends on this show
The young ones are a must.
If you like rick mail look for ‘the time machine’in the middle of it is where blackadder&baldrick meet Robin Hood (Rick mail)brilliant
