- My first Stylized Open World Adventure Game | Devlog #1
With unreal engine 5, nanite and lumen.
I tried to recreate a graphic style that is close to studio ghibli.

This is beautiful. Kind of the games I dream of.
Looking forward to playing this game!
Thank you :)
art style looks sick
lose the AI voice though
thanks, yes the voice is AI, speaking in English is something I still can't do well, maybe in the future this will change :)
This is the kind of environment and art style I'd really like to implement. I look forward to hearing about your process some day.
thank you, it is my intention to explain in detail how to create this type of grass, trees and rocks. Stay tuned for upcoming videos tutorials :D
I like the video but I hate the AI script and voice
I know, ;) I'll try to improve in the future :)
Beep boop.. are you human?
Not so much, but only the voice ;P
It looks amazing, this inspires me to keep learning UE and make great project, well done and hope to see your game at store soon.
Thank you very much!
I absolutely love this art style and game idea, but I think that this game would be even more enjoyable in first person.
In theory it is already implemented but the movement system is designed for the third person, I will see in the future if I can also adapt it to the first person
I love the art style! This is definitely a journey I'll follow, hope you pull through with it :)
Thank you
Wish you luck with your passion project!
thanks :)
Good Luck with you project!
thx
Since you're new to unreal engine following this devlog will be super interesting!
Thanks :), we'll see :D
Good luck bro.
thanks :)
Its gorgeous
Thank you
Hey man! Your game's looking really good so far! I would love to get in touch to discuss how I can contribute to its growth and success of it as well as improve your online presence.
Keep up the good work! Cheers.
thanks, for now I'll continue on my own, maybe we'll talk in the future.
What tutorials did you watch can you share also please ?
clearly there are many aspects covered by different people and channels, mainly I followed: stylized station for the graphics part, William Faucher for the technical part and Matt Aspland and codelikeme for coding and mechanics
honestly the world looks amazing and inviting and you nailed your inspo from studio ghibli and breath of the wild!!, but please hire someone for the animations. those dont look good at all and if the goal is exploration it needs to feel like exploration and notlike floating on a rock
I specified in the video that the character was not definitive, not even his animations, they are just placeholders that are used to test the level design ;) I'm right now working on the definitive character, see you soon ;)
This looks super cosy
Thx
I am also a new learner at using unreal engine The rock material you have on the rocks is that stylized or realistic?
That's a step by step tutorial ;) ua-cam.com/video/E-hF3Fg3vVY/v-deo.html stylized BTW
Im inspired by this
I’m glad :) thx
The footage looked so good at first that I didn't believe it was done. By the way, I personally don’t see anything wrong with a synthesized voice, it’s normal to use it. I don't understand why anyone is upset 🤨
By the way, it seems to me that something like post-processing is missing. Maybe a blur in the distance or just a sort of gradient from afar, like in old games or even just bloom/blum. And.. I don’t know, as if something is wrong, something is missing.. Maybe it will look better for me if the grass is not so intense and “light”
Thank you so much, it's very motivating to hear opinions like this.
For the post processing missing effects, to record the gameplay I had to lower the shader and lighting effects to have a higher framerate, I was aiming for 60 fps for this demonstration. Clearly the optimization has not been done, and I had to make some compromises.
I just started my journey as a game dev and this honestly inspires me so much, could anyone point me in the direction of WHERE I START? I am learning coding and 3d modeling already but how on earth do I even begin to make a world like this ?
I'm making a new series that will help you in that way :) Stay tuned ;)
Good luck with the project, I think the new AI tools for generation will help a lot with all kind of assets soon (already do for textures for example)
Yes, the AI will change the industry, apart from the voice of this video I created everything by hand, because giving my touch in a project of this kind is very important.
good luck
thank you
Hey I absolutely love the narration of the video. The game itself looks terrible. Happy say the opposite day!
Well terrible it's better than nothing XD
You can speak in your own language! And put a subtitle to the video :)
hi thanks for the advice, I'm trying to speak in English directly in the new videos :)
Good vid but the soulless AI voice is a bit offputting
I know ;) I will try to use it less in the future ;) even if for now I already have some videos programmed with AI voice, I will try to remove it in the future
If you want people to get to know you, and follow your story, as a dad and a new programmer, you should use your own voice.
Sorry, I see this is 7 months old and that you did change it up. Great! I'll follow then...!
Thank you :)
AI voice.... bad looks good
I'll try to improve in the future :)
