Alex Gladstein is still my favourite Bitcoiner, Freedom Fighter and Thinker. I know, you shouldn’t have heroes, they always disappoint, but if I have to choose a hero, it will be Alex.
Another great show. Bitcoin is by far the most practical solution I can see for making the world a better and more sustainable place. The IPCC report was released yesterday about the environment and it proves we still have a long way to go before people begin to understand this or even enter into an honest discourse, free of the usual nonsense FUD.
Dan Carlin's Hardcore History podcast on WWI had a good point about Keynes and the war. Keynes believed economic factors would force the war to end and not continue to spiral out of control. He didn't anticipate all the belligerents issuing debt and debasing their currencies to continue fighting at the expense of their economies. Keynesians have been getting it wrong for over a hundred years.
I appreciate what you do. A previous interview resulted in me listening to the 7th Property. The concept of "moral hazard" repeatedly attracted my attention. I was hoping the concept of "moral hazard" would be present in this interview. HAVE you or CAN you conduct an interview(s) on the subject of "bitcoin and "moral hazard"" ????
Brilliant! Supports my proposition of the state, if we have to have it, having all spending needs being on a transparent blockchain!!. Money is given by citizens for specific’as needed ‘ basis, and the spending is used as directed by the polio.
Request to have Lyn Alden & Lawrence Lepard, Greg Foss, Preston Pysh on to both steelman Keynesianism & MMT and then give their Bitcoin/Austrian perspective on those theories
Continual discussion of "democracy" without defining what they mean. Suggest getting hold of Democracy Defined - The Manifesto. Might suggest a better form of government accountability to the people they are meant to serve. By the way this is not a criticism of BTC.
I like the idea of functional democracy. Bitcoin is just a part of that equation. Checks and balances need to be identified, developed and enforced. Many are the same. many are currently advocated and Bitcoin is an essential tool for implementing better fiscal and monetary policy.
19:49 You don't need to raise the interest for people to buy your bond. Buyers bid lower, leading to a higher interest rate. That's the order of things, not the other way around! Greg would agree!
33:52 Debt to GDP ratio is bullshit metric. Not only does it show the lack of basic understanding of economics by the guest, but also by listeners who dont question this metric. Adam Smith didn't name his book 'GDP' of Nations for a reason. If you want to express GDP as a ratio of anything, first express it as a ratio of 'Wealth'. Almost everyone on this earth borrows 400% of their salary when they buy a house, and salary is the GDP of the individual/household. Nothing catastrophic happens to most of these borrowers inspite of their 400% debt to GDP ratio, even with an average global interest rate of 6% that they pay on it each year. In comparison USA's debt to GDP ratio with average interest rate below 1% looks objectively benign.
Well guys, thats what the original Hippy is and was... We don't pay taxes because we do not want to support the war... Seems to be lost to hair styles and concerts. Glad Alex explains the truth about taxes... thank you.
😎 I'm talking about the Russia Ukraine war and bitcoin. Just started. Short format 8-12 minute rants from a ruthless orange pilling, short tempered pleb. The war triggered me to start. People who inspired it are Andreas Antonop, Saife Ammous, Peter 😁, and Gigi just to list a few.
I’m disappointed in people like Alex who quote former President Barrack Obama for saying something truly significant and important and then go on to suggest for the listener that he was disappointed in him. It show me Alex’s ideology clouding his judgement, a disease the right wing in America are struggling with.
I hate to pick a bone with poor analysis of military history when it’s so important to the imaginary narrative here, but 2/3 of Vietnam vets were volunteers and about 2-3 million served in Iraq and Afghanistan, almost the same numbers as in Vietnam. Vietnam was a very popular and very supported war by the voting public.
Whatever this guy was saying may have been important and profound. Unfortunately, the level of verbal tics made it impossible focus on the content of his remarks. Count the number of "like," "uhhhm," you know," lip smacks, and the pathetic, approval-seeking "right?" Absolutely unlistenable. Sad.
I love you, Peter. You do such important work and with such intellectual integrity. Please don’t ever stop what you’re doing
Agreed. He is one of my favorites. Inspired the name of my show. 😂😂😂
@@RenegadeAcre 😂

Thank you for this show specifically. I don't always agree with you, but this needed to be said!
Thanks for all the work you do Peter, Danny, and the crew. The guest and production quality has been excellent lately. Keep up the great work 👍
Thank you 🙏
Alex and Peter, you two are awesome!
Wow. This episode really moved me. Thank you Alex! Amazing work
Great job guys! Alex, great points…thanks
Oustanding conversation. Thanks Peter. Keep doing what you're doing. It's contributing to the betterment of humanity. Major props.
Damn, crazy to watch conversations now. The world has changed.
God bless this show!
Thanks for getting this interview out. Very relevant!
Peter you’re the best! I’m your biggest fan! and I’m a New Yorker-:)
Dam this guy has some impressive insight! I didn't think of war like this.

Brilliant talk, learned a lot, thanks!
Great episode

The beginning quote from Taxing Wars was the most interesting part. MMT ignoring war budgets was a good highlight as well
Alex is the man.
Best Bitcoin show. Period.

Informative as usual.
Any chance of adding books and doco mentioned to show notes?

Thanks for your MMT references. It’s so bizarre it’s hard to understand their arguments.

Love the shows... Question... You're 5 feet away from each other. Why are you wearing headphones?
I wish the shownotes had all the books he mentioned

Unless you are out of buyers at a specific interest rate, in which case you need to raise the interest rate

MMTER's - no definition ?
modern monetary theorists.
not modern

After listening to this podcast, my conclusion: Demonetize War.

It’s all unraveling. Buy Bitcoin if you value what you have worked for all your life.

What an american problem to have...
Bitcoin isn't only digital money with a hard cap supply. litecoin LTC , Zcash ZEC. both have limits and privacy, which makes them better than BTC
