Thank you so much for this! I've had anxiety most of my life so chest breathing is definitely not new for me, but it's never lasted this long before. This past week, I feel like I couldn't regulate my breathing at all. It's gotten to the point where I almost do it subconsciously and then only start to notice when I realise how much my chest is aching. So yeah, I found this such a helpful video because it's actually given me hope that I can get my breathing under control again

I was taught this by my chorus teacher in 8th grade and It would help us hold our notes better and it stood with me as an adult & is now the only way I know how to breathe & I’ve had so many people even doctors tell me that I am breathing incorrectly and I should fix it, but I physically cannot breathe through my chest lol it’s extremely!! hard for me so this helps me feel human again ❤️❤️

I had to go live somewhere else and i had my pc with me but there wasnt any desk so i had to be all the time in an very bad posture to acces it and after 2 months of that i have now difficult breathing because of that , i fell that i dont get enought air so i want to deep breath but i cant . You must exahale all the air out of your lungs. I felt like that at first too. If you breathe through chezt, you won't exhale all the air, so you must try to do it becuse then you can breathe in more "new" air.

    • @justinschouten6474
      @justinschouten6474 4 роки тому +2

N M Yeah right, because when you exhale through your belly, your diaphragm lifts up again and presses more air out of your lungs.

When you’re used to breathing through your chest, belly breathing is likely to give you a stuffy feeling at first, but actually, if you practice belly breathing more and you’re able to fully breathe with your belly at one point, you’ll feel that you get a lot more air than by chest breathing. Happy breathing!😉

Breathing should be easy. Learn the basic technique, can be difficult as the way we breathe is locked into our habit. It took me 10 weeks to relax enough to breathe out properly. The benefits of nose breathing using the diaphragm are miraculous. (Add cold showers and you will have a completely new you). Lockdown gave me the time to improve my health

I have asthma. And I definitely breath through my chest more than my diaphragm. When I try to breath through my diaphram I feel like I'm only getting 1/3 of the air I get when breathing from my chest. It's supposed to give more air...but I feel worse. Any suggestions as to the cause?
Do I just need to work on diphram breathing more?

asia g try taking deeper breaths while doing diaphragm breathing. One breathing exercise I recommend is to lay down and put a book on your belly button. Once you start breathing, make sure the book rises and falls by expanding your belly while you inhale, and shrinking it while you exhale. Other than that you should probably just do breathing exercises daily. I hope this helps!

after watching this I just learned that I naturally breathe from my diaphragm, and can switch to "chest breathing" on command, It just feels more normal to breathe from my diaphragm...

It’s so hard to breathe like this. I fell like my lungs aren’t fully filled in each breathe.
Also, does not sitting straight affect breathing capacity? Like, does the lung bends from not sitting straight and cause breathing capacity to decrease?
Also, does laying front-down for a long time affect breathing capacity? Like, does it push the ribs in and decrease space for lungs?
Also, is it possible that it’s because the air in the room is not enough? I’m in a medium room with no passage of air, only air conditioner, and I keep it off almost all the time. And the outside of my room is another no passage of air. (Only very small gaps from doors and bathrooms.)
Also is it possible that it’s because I alway wear mask when going outside? Like, never take it off when outside. Does that cause my breathing to change?
Will it get better if I keep doing the correct way?
I can’t breathe fully. It feels like I only get 1/4 of what I want each breathe.
If you see this, please provide me some suggestions, that would be great, thank you!

You're not supposed to tense your abs like you're showing off your 6 pack, you're pushing air upwards through your lungs with the diaphragm. Look up an image of where the diaphragm is in the body so you can see how it moves, and work on pulling in and pushing out the belly as naturally and low effort as possible, staying relaxed.

So, I've been practicing abdominal breathing for years, and my stomach is pretty big... You can see my abs, and I don't have much fat anywhere else on my body, but my stomach still balloons a little. Does diaphragmatic breathing lead to a larger belly, or do I just have unusual fat distribution (internal stomach fat)? I practically can't pinch any fat on the sides of my stomach (no "love-handles").
If it's the breathing, I don't mind; it's definitely worth it. If I somehow have harmful, internal stomach fat, though, I'd like to know so I can address it. It's odd, can I really have a subtle six-pack yet somewhat large belly? And no fat to mention, elsewhere?

@@hannah-dj3tu Thanks for the tip. Yeah, like most, I had anterior tilt, but I fixed it some years ago. Still ballooning. It seems to just be a symptom of 15 years of abdominal breathing. I suppose I should be happy that my stomach has learned to relax.

I feel like my (weak) abs are stretching so much and will tear when breathing like this. Should my abs be contracting? Or do they stretch and tighten as my gut sticks out giving a firm stomach? Or am I too anxious to even do this right? My anxiety is 📈📈📈. 🥴

Close of your mouth; inhale and exhale form only through your nose; while your breathe make sure you cannot hear the sound of your breath and slowly reach your diaphragm; try not to strain or go above your breathing capacity.
