Went to see Cannibal Corpse and Hate Eternal in Buffalo back in 2000. Went to Burger King before the show and these metal heads with accents were there enjoying some whoppers. Got to the show for the opening band and low and behold it’s God Dethroned, the Burger King guys.
Necrotic Nick- The Toxic Touch is a pretty solid melodeath album. Definitely a lot of At the Gates-ish material on that one. This is a bit heavier for the most part but it's still got it's melodeath-ish parts.
well to each their own i guess. God Dethroned is one of my best band ever, i discovered them with bloody blasphemy, i know their golden age is behind like every other band but they still put out awesome music, did not listen to the new album but i know i am gonna love it cause i love every album.
Necrotic Nick- I've enjoyed pretty much all their albums but to me these last 2 have been a bit of a drop off. They have their moments but they just feel phoned in. If you loved the last one then there's a good chance you'll dig this one.
@@thrallsofmetal yeah i really liked the last one, pretty sure i'll like this one as well, from what i heard so far Henry sounds a bit like Brett Hoffman from malevolent creation wich is a GOOD thing to me! And btw Nick thx for the quick replies on posts, you guys interact a lot with us and it's awesome, have a wonderful night!
Necrotic Nick- I honestly have a lot of favorites from this band. The Christhunt, In the Sign on the Iron Cross, Passiondale are all up there too but their more recent output has been kinda lacking in my opinion.
God Dethroned are one of those bands I've heard about but never delved that deep into them. In fact, the only album of theirs that I own is Bloody Blasphemy. It was a blisteringly awesome album IMO. Solid, honest review on God Dethroned's The Judas Paradox.
Necrotic Nick- Bloody Blasphemy is a banger of an album and honestly most of their discography is badass but here lately, or at least on these last 2, the energy just seems to have waned. This still has it's moments but just not enough of them.
Probably shouldn’t check out Vestige or A Swarm of the Sun then either. Not that they are boring per se but in the aspect that their atmospheric and the expansiveness of them.
I believe that, they chose the wrong time to release the album.Among all these chunk of excellent albums being brought out by juggernaut bands the change this album to falling into the abyss to be forsaken by public in general or not receiving the attention that the band could await for.Elsewhere,it will be overshadowed by other albums released.
Necrotic Nick- Possibly. I did think it was odd that they chose to release this the same day as the new Wolfheart which is on the same label. That's more common in larger labels but Reign Phoenix doesn't have a huge roster at this point. Granted this week was a bit slow as in it didn't have too much competition but still I think I agree here.
Necrotic Nick- It was just OK for me. I feel like the first half was a bit of chore to get through at times and because it really didn't find it's footing until the second half really hurt this album for me.
Always loved this band, especially the WWI trilogy of albums. New album is pretty good after a couple spins, always a reliable melodic death metal band. And I agree the second half is the best.
Necrotic Nick- I've been a fan for awhile too and that WWI trilogy is pretty cool though I'd say Passiondale and Under the Sign of the Iron Cross are the stronger parts of that trilogy. These last 2 have been really lacking in energy though. They both still have their bright spots but they're really inconsistent.
Necrotic Nick- A little bit. I got more Insomnium but neither is a bad comparison in the least. This one to me is just OK. I kinda miss the energy on the earlier material.
@@thrallsofmetal I hear ya. The Grand Grimoire is a 10/10 album. Bloody Blasphemy is a 9/10. Ravenous is a 9/10. Passiondale and, Under The Sign Of The Iron Cross, are the shit too! 😁🤘
I don't mind the album but these last 3 albums haven't been that memorable. I unfortunately feel that way with alot of albums by many bands these last several years. The Grand Grimoire is my favorite album. That was the newest album when i first heard them. The title track is my favorite song of theirs along with Coliseum Serenades.
God Dethroned is one of the best at melodic blackened death metal. They take lots of influence from Carcass, Dissection, and Bolt Thrower. Albums such as the Christhunt, the Grand Grimoire, Ravenous, In the Lair of the White Worm, and the Toxic Touch are great albums. This new album is decent. The first half is okay but kind of cheesy but the second half is a stronger. I do think it’s better than their last album Illuminati but it’s not as good as the World Ablaze. It’s a decent yet flawed album.
Necrotic Nick- They've had an incredible run of album in the past for sure but I feel like these last 2 have just been lacking the fire they had on earlier albums. The second half does feature some solid tracks but kicking off with a clunky first half really hurt this one for me.
Its a great album better than illuminati i think .. God dethroned were never just about full on assault and i think it brews up nicely as a full listen .. the wallet opens again ffs lol😂..
Necrotic Nick- I have to disagree. I think it's OK but despite being kinda lackluster I still think Illuminati was a bit more cohesive. I really didn't like the pacing of the album too. The front half kinda got off to lackluster start. Either way, I'm glad you dug it though. We all hear music differently.

Necrotic Nick- Dude! That's awesome! I haven't got a chance to check them out live yet but I'd still love too.
Good band haven't listened in 15 years
Only own The Toxic Touch and I like it a lot. Have heard the war trilogy and dig those also. Will check this out.

I have known these guys since 2010
I enjoyed Lair Of The White Worm.. That was the last album i heard from them.
Necrotic Nick- There's some bangers after that like Passiondale and Under the Sign of the Iron Cross. After that, it's a bit of a mixed bag honestly.
Ravenous is when i got into them .
Necrotic Nick- Solid album.
Probably shouldn’t check out Vestige or A Swarm of the Sun then either. Not that they are boring per se but in the aspect that their atmospheric and the expansiveness of them.
Necrotic Nick- I'm not familiar with either but I might check them out now that you brought them up.

Check out the new Korrosive album. Cheers dudes
Necrotic Nick- That album was a beast!
Great album 4 of 5! See y'all in a bit!🤘
thnx
I enjoyed this album. It's not outstanding, and there's some moments where it drags, but I dig most of these songs. 3.5/5 from me.

First song reminds me of Hypocrisy. Good album, I dig it.

A real rollercoaster of an album 😂
Necrotic Nick- Except it was like being stuck on a slow lift hill for most of it.

After watching Henri on Heavy Metal Philosophy it was clear Henri was far more focused on the historical and theological aspects of the album
Necrotic Nick- I love lavish themes and concepts in lyrics but it's kinda lost here in lackluster songwriting and bad production sadly.
@@thrallsofmetal I was interested in the record after listening to him talk but now I’m not sure
It has a couple decent tunes, but mostly a borefest.
Necrotic Nick- Yeah, that's pretty much exactly where I stand here.
I think people dont want to admit that god dethroned became very boring
