    Incredibly important and helpful. Just observed yesterday a video where an experienced Corvette technician did not initially understand that the oblong holes not the round holes were to be used for jacking locations. Great job and appreciated you illustrating the reference in the Corvette Owners Manual.

    Thank yo for this video. I am taking my 2020 C8 in to replace a damaged alloy wheel and now I will point out the lifting points to the service people so I do not end up with a trashed car. Have a great day.

    Great video I’m getting jacking pucks that stay on the car so you always know the right place to lift the car no mistakes

    SUPER helpful video! Thanks for citing the owners manual too. If using a two post lift with asymmetric arms, should I back the car in (so the engine is over the short arms )?? In other words, position the car opposite to a front engine car since the weight distribution is so different.

      Thank you! That wouldn't hurt, just be sure you use the proper lift points and you'll be fine.

    Jeremy, regarding the HTC should the top be down or up before lifting on a two pole system, What about windows and doors should they be slightly open also. On myyC8 coupe we would always unclasp the three clamps first!

    Thanks for the info Jeremy. I transport my C5 and C6 to the track using J hooks and straps in the jacking slots. I see in your video that there are transport (round holes) in addition to the jacking slots. Is there a different process for strap down in a C8? Hope to be picking up my C8 soon and what to make sure its transported correctly. Great site, lot of good information.

      I hope you get your C8 soon! You can use the oval holes or the round holes for your J hooks. All of these are in the frame rails, so they are all okay for strap use.

    Thanks Jeremy - I'm wondering how you put the car up on Jackstands though?

    What happened to the other video? Same comment as before, the owner's manual has quite a bit of generic language, "Set the parking brake firmly", well the parking brake is just a button push, you have no control over how firmly it sets.

    Pardon the stupid question but after I lift the c8 from my jack pucks with my jack, Where is a safe place for the jack stands to hold up the car?

    • @etdcorvettes
      @etdcorvettes  4 роки тому

      I suggest doing so as close to the lift points as possible. It's a little tricky with the flat undercarriage.

    Does anyone know the distance between (driver and passenger side) of the lifting points? I’m looking at a four point lift with a lift jack that extends to 64 3/4”. Will 64 3/4” reach the lift points on the driver and passenger side of the front and rear?

    • @etdcorvettes
      @etdcorvettes  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, the distance between the center of the front puck holes is 55 inches and the distance from the center of the rears is 53 inches.

      Sorry for the delay. It's 55" between the centers of the front and 53" between the rears.

    Where do I place the jack stands?

    • @etdcorvettes
      @etdcorvettes  4 роки тому

      I've been told to put them on the frame next to the jacking locations, but to do that, you have to remove some of the underbody shielding.

    Jeez, what a terrible design. Those circle holes shouldn't be there. Lift points should be glaringly obvious when you peak under the car, not something somebody has to know before-hand or refer to the user manual to figure out. I don't get why they couldn't re-use the lift point holes as the strap tie-downs.
    .
    I reckon in 10 years when there's plenty of these on the used market a solid 30% of them will have frame damage under there from people using those holes to jack it up and change a flat tire or whatever. Stupid.
    .
    Do they have/sell a jackpoint adapter like Porsche uses to slide into that oblong hole? That's why I imagine it's oblong.

      100% Agree. Coming from owning BMW's, i'm surprised they don't have jacking pucks that make it easy to put the lift onto. I can easily see confusion with even jack stands happening here in the future where they slide off the tie down strap points.
      They should improve this design.

    • @etdcorvettes

      If you're jacking up the car one side at a time, jack the car on the frame next to the lift point and put your jack stands on the lift points.
