Hey Freddy, the amazing Abarth, a very cool looking rally car and that MF-01X chassis, has quite a few bearings and a very talented chassis 😊😊. Enjoy the build 😊 best wishes to you and the family 😎😉😉

Thanks John. I’ve really been enjoying building a fully enclosed chassis. It’s such a cool design. I’ve almost finished it now so hopefully I’ll be ready for the speed run challenge in time. The body has yet to be painted but I’ve been happy with the progress so far. Flanged bearings!! That was a new one….you don’t see those in too many kits. All the best!!!😀

I have this as my spare parts kit in case I break anything on the speed run. If no damages, then it’ll get built. 😊

Is it fair to say that the heavy driveshaft will put extra stress on the plastic gears?

Great question! And my answer would be...maybe a little but not really. The most stress on the gears is really going to come from how hard you drive the car and the terrain you're driving it on. I have a full set of ball bearings in the kit now so the propeller shaft moves very easily and is well balanced. So as much as it might be heavier than most, it's held into the chassis nice and tight with direct contact with the gears inside both gearboxes. So...as much as there is a bit of extra weight, the overall design of the chassis means that the propeller shaft operates very smoothly. I believe you can get an aftermarket aluminum prop shaft, but not through Tamiya, if you want to reduce the overall weight of the car.
