Totally agree with the model quality being a huge factor. I used cheap models for a while until investing into more high quality models. Made a night and day difference.
A couple of things to note here: Iray is exclusive to Nvidia graphics cards so, if you’re running something else, Iray simply won’t be available. This is the primary reason one may want to look at Octane. Octane also renders decidedly faster but, as you mentioned, unless you’re quite skilled with it (I came to Daz from Cinema 4D where I used Octane and it’s still difficult here),stick with Iray where you can.
13:00 The easiest way I found to fix eyes that go dark (like where using Face Transfer) is to load G8F default character and just right-click copy paste the surface for each of the eye textures. Once done, you can just set a new texture using the GUi as normal.
Hey i've been wondering about standard license and interactive license, wanna bought a bundle and stumble upon a discussion about license which tbh making me more confuse instead clearing things up. Say, i make a scene but i need the figure to be in a specific pose, i do have the pose but i need to move lets say the the arm a bit higher, then i want to use the render of said scene on my game (VN) which i will post in a website for people to download and play for free. Do i need interactive license or standard license will do? Dont want someone to sue me for something i clearly lack knowledge of
That's a good question, and I'm not 100% sure. I've researched this topic a bit and haven't found anything official, but from what I understand... ***This is 100% not legal advice. I'm just an idiot on the internet repeating some things that I heard from some other idiots on the internet*** ...I believe the interactive license is only for fully animated characters. Like, if you exported assets to a game engine such as Unity or Unreal to use in an action game or something similar. If you are rendering still images to use in a VN, I *think* you are pretty safe.
hello thank you for nice tutorial. i would like to ask, that my iray render is so grainy.. especially the hair get grain with blur. is this the graphic card problem? ur render seems nicer. my graphic card is geforece 950. what kind of graphiccard will support better resolution for rendering.also, do u have any tips for making the grain dissappear?
Thank you for the comment! If your render is grainy it's probably because you aren't rendering long enough. Try raising your render time and your convergence ratio. The longer you let the image render, the more the grain will disappear. As far as your graphics card, you should stick with an Nvidia card, as Daz Studio's Iray rendering engine was written by Nvidia. As far as the specific model, I started with a 950 like you, but I upgraded as quickly as possible. You should use the best graphics card that you can afford, depending upon your commitment level. I upgraded to a GTX 1080 ti which, looking back, was very irresponsible as I was barely making any money off of Daz yet, lol. I still use the same video card and, while it's starting to show it's age, it still serves my purposes pretty well. Right now is a VERY bad time to buy a video card, as there is a worldwide microprocessor shortage, and the few people that are able to get a video card are selling them for far more than they're worth. My advice to you is to wait until the shortage is over (hopefully by autumn...hopefully) and pick up a used 1070 or 1080 ti. If you get more serious, look into upgrading to a 3000 series card. Thanks again for the question, and good luck!
Definitely need a more powerful gpu especially for iray, i used to use a GTX 980 and it was an absolute slog to try and render anything, now i just use my 3080 gaming rig to render
Another great video. Can You make video about dForce; especially about the case when for example I want to wrap a standing model with dForce flag or cape ect. You know like that Batman posters when he is standing straight with cape in both his hands. Tnx You in advance.
Thank you! And thanks for the suggestion! I've been planning on doing a Dforce video for awhile. I need to do a little more research before I'm ready with that one, but it's definitely coming!
I'm not sure if the free version of octane has changed it's limits since the time of this video, but i'm using the free version and it allows renders up to 8192x8192
Hello Steven, interesting topic and exactly what I need right now . I currently working in Poser, but i want to give Daz studio a try. Yesterday I installed Daz Studio and I noticed there is a new version of genesis 8 included. I learned from earlier experiences with DS that you have to have the genesis platform, a Victoria 7 or whatever and on top of this, you load the character, you purchased on DS or Renderosity. It would be helpful, especially for newbies like myself if you could make a tutorial about this. Anyways, thanks for your tutorial and have a good one.
I have been quite haphazard on whether to use noise degraning filter or not. I don't quite know what are the significancese of using this and it's possible differences with post denoiser. Can this have a positive effect on one's work in helping them remove grainy particles more officiant?
i think you included some misinformation about octane, there are 3 free versions, the demo version has a limited resolution but the free prime version is not limited. The difference between the free and paid is that free can only use 1 gpu, is only the plugin version not standalone, and can only use with 4 programs (Blender, daz, unity, unreal)
Hi Steven, nice work on your tutorial, good stuff.....on a different subject, how can I get stuff FROM my content library to go INTO my smart content? I've tried before, to no avail. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you sir.
Simply put, you can’t. Smart content is triggered only with items purchased directly from the Daz3D store. However, it is all segregated out on your content library tab as 3rd party items are found under a sub folder of the same name, while Daz Store items are stored in the folder above it.
Hello, I have the following question: I bought this outfit for DAZ3D and installed "FWSA Gillian HD for Victoria 7 and LF Sorbet Swimwear". Unfortunately only the one in RED/BLACK works and the others don't. What do I have to do to be able to use all the outfits? Thanks and greetings Daniel

Use micro displacement maps on characters to make them realistic

How did you get a renderosity character into your smart content pane? Great tutorials by the way, really helpful.
its not in smart content library

Youll be better off using better lighting and letting it render lonfer. Render at a Much larger size then downsize with quality software

Where did Steven and David go?

Maybe the others are templates and must fix in the same folder than the test.
is it possible to get free high quality models?
There are some people who upload free good quality models onto deviantart, but for the most part the answer is not legally
ok coomer
