You're welcome Ryan. The vertical bars should be meeting the bottom of the top horizontal piece...but it only takes one goof and the whole thing is off.
When you explode the array you are able to edit the pieces independently. Until you do that, the legs are an 'array object.' That's actually a good thing, and cad allows you to go in and make edits to the array after it's created.

Thanks Brooke, that was great and easy to follow. My only comment is the vertical bars of the chair back don't seem to connect to anything at the top... also I'm a beginner and not sure exactly what happens when we "exploded" the array of legs? Thanks again.

You just go into the View tab and pick a multi-viewport configuration, like two vertical, two horizontal, etc.
