I find a good way of trimming is hitting tr, then spacebar twice (or enter twice). This means you dont need to select any lines and you can trim any lines in the drawing, or by holding shift before clicking, extendeding any line. But thank you for that j join command, i've been using pedit the whole time...
I JUST saw this message. I'm so sorry that I missed it!!! Ok. For the first question - there aren't any duplicate lines. When you use Object Snap Tracking, you are creating a line a certain distance away, so you don't have duplicates. If you didn't do that, delete the extra line. Second question - It isn't a 3D polyline, it's a 2D polyline. When you create something with individual lines and join it , it's 2D. You can also select it from the draw panel or type in "pline." :)
You need to use the "trim" command from the modify panel - or you can type in "trim" or "tr." Once you do that, you select the lines, hit enter, and click on the parts you want to remove. That should do it! :)
1. Did you combine the duplicate lines before you trim the bottom edges (1:22)? 2. How do you offset 3D polyline (2:08)? I thought autocad doesnt do that, and I got the message 'cannot offset that object' when I tried to do the same thing. Thank you :)
I've been using AutoCAD and other 3D programs for several years, but I think that you can get really good at it in a few months if you stick with it. :)
I suspect you're view just isn't zoomed properly. Do a Zoom Extents in each window, or a Zoom All and you should be 'centered' and able to see in both views. I hope...
Because the ViewCube is not the same as the Viewport! Look at the windrose under the Viewcube. It have a different orientation. If you change the view on Viewcube it change only the view. If you change the Viewport (left top corner) it changes the view and the UCS (important for drawing). So you have left or right view in Viewport but for the ViewCube is this the "new" Topview. I hope it helps you.
Great job on the video! You go slowly enough and explain your steps thoroughly, but quickly enough so that there's no time wasted. Keep it up!

Do you mean just the lines? You can either use the PEDIT command or JOIN if you have a recent version of AutoCAD.
That is an awesome tip! Thank you so much!
I used pedit forever too. ;)
The way of explanation is very good, very useful for the beginners. Thanks and keep it up
