Maybe wait a bit. I'll be doing a review of the new Style 2 tenor (USA made) next weekend. I've also ordered a 2K tenor but that may take a couple of months to get. At that point, I will compare all three tenors. 8-)
I love going back to this review of yours, Petey. It is so helpful as a benchmark for getting focused in on the T1K tone for comparisons. Since my last post over a year ago here, I have moved back to the Tenor sizes for most of my playing, though I will not part with any Sopranos or Concerts that I already own, or may even add to in the future. I am now going to se if you did a specific review video on your Martin 2 Tenor... Best, Tiki Den
+Tiki Den : Thanks. I like making up songs and off-beat materials for my reviews. Many like that fact and have told me. I've been planning a review of my 2K tenor for awhile... Just haven't practiced the songs awhile... i.e. like a Brindisi from the opera La traviata. Love that old drinking song played on a 2k tenor.
Nice review. I have the same uke that I also bought "by accident". I went to the store to have the bass I just purchased adjusted but ended up returning it instead when I saw the T1K. I use it in most of my BEATLE-LELE videos.
The style 2 is better but it is too booming to accompany my voice. I don't have the 2K tenor yet. I'm waiting for my order to come in. I have a feeling I will prefer the sound of the 2K tenor the best. I only buy satin ukes now. They resonate great. There are probably just as good tenors from other brands but it's hard to find a place to try them out for comparison. You might consider a trip to Elderly instruments.
Dig the Martin's also. Is the 2k tenor worth the cash from the T1K? Also looking into the Kamaka tenor; it's all so confusing. Although I agree, most laminate ukes although pretty, don't resonate nearly as well as satin koa. What do you think?
I am primarily a guitar player, but have one of these and have the same questions concerning the action. Mine, particularly, is almost too low at the nut and too high as it goes up the neck. The gentleman who works on my guitars explained the setup to me, almost as if it was Martin setting up a guitar for bluegrass playing. It is shipped out with the nut slots cut low for someone who doesn’t spend much time past the fifth fret…. which I actually do quite often (I’m not a bluegrass player, obviously). If the saddle were to be sanded down, the action would be way too low because of the depth of the nut slots. Solution? Seemed like nuking an anthill, but I’m having him cut a new bone saddle and nut for it so it can be set up comfortable to me. Seems like a lot to do for a relatively inexpensive instrument, but I just want it to play well and sound good.
That's an interesting comment about below/above the 5th fret. On a tenor, I especially use it to play above as well since there is so much real estate to work with than on a soprano. That uke is still a great uke so going the extra mile to fix it to your needs is definitely worth it. Martin tenors (I have them all except for the IZ tenor) tend to have not that low action. My 2K tenor is a lot better than my T1K. It's action is a little high above the 7th but it doesn't need adjusting in my books.
Not too sure about the haircut. Probably just envious cause I don’t have any. Seriously though I really appreciate the work you do. You have helped me quite a bit.
Nope. Only like to use Martin strings. Low G was a plan of mine but you have to get a luthier to change the nut because the low G string is thicker and I was lazy so I never did it.
LOL! You're right! But best to leave behind the second bass drum if you're lugging around a serious set of drums! ;-) hehe Thanks for the comments. I hope you will keep going with the ukulele!
Great arrangement. Sounds great.
No problem. Martins are my favs. without a doubt!
Seems like a good idea. I have some on my shelf but haven't put them on yet. I still need that uke for a few songs with the high G. 8-)
thanks, great review and super playing. makes me want to get one

Petey, I'm not even into Martins, yet I find your playing and personality charming. Cheers, mate!
I think it has a very nice sound considering it is one of their budget models. Nice arrangement of La Cucaracha.
I LOVE your vids peter keep on rocking

+Tiki Den : Thanks. I did do the style 2 tenor review. I rather like how I flipped the uke in that review. hehe
+Peter Forrest I just watched it. Brilliant review!👍👍

So cool to see a Mainland there!
You're great on the uke. I could sit and listen to ur playing.
Thanks, man.
Great playing, Petey, and a fine review. Thanks for posting!

Thanks. Isn't it fun to find something good when you aren't expecting? Those are the best surprises.

I'm seriously considering it.
Nice ! Always wanted a Martin, maybe some day 🎶🎵👍.
They are worth it but you have to also put in the time!
Cheveux plus court ? (hihi)
merci pour cette vidéo Peter!
The hot chili uke! I'm glad you spotted it! I put it there on purpose. hehe

Great video and song, Petey!! I'd be interested in the tabs! :-)
Nice review! Vor allem aber: eine tolles Arrangement für "La Cucaracha!" Daumen hoch!

No drinkin' and playin'? Very thorough review. Tanks.
The pleasant aroma is from the “kerfling”. inside of the ukulele. The kerfling inside of the ukulele is made of Spanish cedar.
Thanks.
yes is Snape!!!
I'm jealous of your playing. Nice job....
Thanks.
There are no holes in the swiss cheese "gruyère" but in the french emmental yes !
Thanks. With your last name... I'm surprised you didn't get one already! ;-)
Not too sure about the haircut. Probably just envious cause I don’t have any. Seriously though I really appreciate the work you do. You have helped me quite a bit.
Thanks. I need to get back to doing videos.
Good stuff .. nice vids
Thanks.
Did you ever try this in a low G or other strings? What was the result? Thanks
Nope. Only like to use Martin strings. Low G was a plan of mine but you have to get a luthier to change the nut because the low G string is thicker and I was lazy so I never did it.
They come with some extra saddle there. Just lower the action at the saddle a tiny.
T'es doué mon gars !
What kind of strings do you have on that?
Regular Martin fluorocarbon strings. They came with the uke.
I play the drums so quit complaining about lugging the guitar... Lol great review. I'm really getting in to ukuleles and I really enjoy your videos.
LOL! You're right! But best to leave behind the second bass drum if you're lugging around a serious set of drums! ;-) hehe Thanks for the comments. I hope you will keep going with the ukulele!
Thanks! I just subscribed to you :)
Neon Kitten: Thanx. I look forward to your uke vids one day! 8-)
and pavarotti always spoke highly of you.
that JCD2 knockoff, deserved to come in a box.
LOL
Dude... lower the saddle to improve the play it’s a personal preference. Outta the box the action is usually high.
I got rid of that uke.
So this is what professor snape has been doing in the dungeon.
Yep. He needed a new job so he fell under the ukulele spell.
Snape?
Those fingers🙏
Lol I was just watching another demo.
I just got home from my Spanish class. It was difficult tonight and could drive a man to drink so I'm having now a chilled vodka. lol hehe
