This is maybe one of the best and certainly the most ICONIC song by Florence
The videos from the lungs album are very abstract. I think You would really enjoy the "how Big how blue how beautiful" era especially "what kind of man" "ship to wreck" and "st jude"

@@iTeacupPanda how do you figure she's the "worst person in the music industry"??

    • @iTeacupPanda
      @iTeacupPanda 4 роки тому

      @@wakingribbons That's a huge laundry list . . .
I'll put it as short as I can, if you want details I'll provide them.
      1. She sold out just by becoming Gaga. - She was a failed musician who's first album flopped and changed her entire being as an artist including an appearance. The appearance is fine, everyone changes looks but she copied the hair, fashion and didn't even change the poses paired with these looks stealing the entire image someone else relied on for fame well over a dozen times.
      2. her music is plagiarized. People think because a lawsuit isn't made, it's not plagiarized and no, I'm not talking about inspiration. You can't an exact song, slap new lyrics on it and a few sound effects and pretend it's a new song. If you do that it's still classified as a cover or if it's humorous a parody Covers pay royalties. If you use a bit of it, it's a sample and you still pay to use that. She doesn't and we've seen how inconsistantly music lawsuits have been recently including with the Katy Perry DarkHorse scandal where Todd Decker, a chair of music made a claim that can be debunked by his own book he just published four years prior!
      " Fashion of his Love " --- Whitney's" I wanna Dance With Somebody "
      " Dance In The Dark " - Depeche Mode's " Strangelove "
      "Alejandro " - Ace of Base's " Don't Turn Around "
The list goes on and on and on. I could list a dozen more but you see how long this has already gotten.
The final being her willingness to cross the line with shock value. She has no morals or standards with it. Being tacky and doing costume changes at inappropriate times is one thing, but having people vomit paint on her in public? Okay, whatever. But where she crossed the line was when she put THOUSANDS of fans in danger.
Yes, Lady Gaga deemed shock value so worth it that she as she claims, an alleged sex victim decided to pull the world's most famous sex offender(proven sex offender who got away with it until recent years) out of retirement, line his pockets with cash and do a little song called " DO WHAT U WANT WITH MY BODY " and take him on tour.
Yes R. Kelly, " DO WHAT U WANT WITH MY BODY " but next year rape isn't cool because I gotta be there for KeSha in time to win Woman of the Year.
      Gaga is a joke.

So no more hiding, no more cry. Florece talk abou feelings in an epic way. My favourite is "big god". Looks inpired in caravaggio's painting

It's about a girl falling in love, being so happy she is in the clouds. The relationship goes south and they start to be abusive, her family are terrified the relationship will kill her so she needs to leave everything behind and run to survive. Dog Days Are Over, she is out of the relationship and is ecstatic to have her life back, that's why the video is crazy because of the feelings she has to be alive to tell her story.

You hit the nail on the head. For the past 10 years I have been in and out of hospitals each trip spending weeks if not months stuck in there with surgeries and tests and absolutley miserable. Every time I get discharged from there on the drive home I always, ALWAYS listen to this song. It reminds me to be grateful, to love every second I have in living the life I do. Your happiness and your destiny are what you make of it. Grab it by the reins, society and propriety be damned.

This was one of their breakthrough songs along with their cover of YOU'VE GOT THE LOVE. as others have mentioned their next album Ceremonials (2011) has a few other hits like SHAKE IT OUT, NEVER LET ME GO & SPECTRUM (SAY MY NAME). The latter was remixed in 2012 by Calvin Harris, leading Florence to appear on his song SWEET NOTHING. Again as others note since you like Gaga, Florence did a song with her on Joanne called HEY GIRL. Also a song I enjoy is OVER THE LOVE from the Great Gatsby Soundtrack (2013) - Lana Del Rey also did a song there called YOUNG & BEAUTIFUL, which was a single from it. WHAT KIND OF MAN is also has a bit of a rockier tinged sound in parts.

Please please please continue your Florence reactions!
The 2nd album Ceremonials has a lot of cinematic and epic songs, biblical references galore and a choir to go with it. Very sad, sexy, mesmerizing.
The 3rd How Big How Blue How Beautiful is cathartic - the Odyssey film everyone asks you to react to is made up of the songs from this album. It's about breakups, relationships, finding your way out of pain.
The 4th album High as Hope is about healing. It's about finding your place, reminiscing, reevaluating life and admitting you've fucked up.
To keep it short, Florence is a freaking good lyricist, so you wont be bored :D

it's art! videos don't need to make sense lol the original bandies (harpist, gat & keys still with her now) are her guitarist who was a friend & science student i think, who played in his bedroom mainly. he brought in his friend & original drummer, the keyboardist was her little siblings baby-sitter who had her own little studio the size of a walk-in wardrobe, & she was an art student, when they all got together. they saw the harpist walking round the studio halls where they were laying tracks & asked him to join, too. she & they were happy to be raw. not to be so prolific, & just polished enough to do gig's. keep their wonderment about they're music, & have fun. they're incredible all these years later; especially live. amazing woman & band, & very unique. Flo is such an amazing song-writer, as well as vocalist & performer
