Hey Jason I loved your video! Quick question. I am using Mac for davinci and I can't seem to get the 'add keyframe' shortcut to work. Any recommendations? I just want to be able to quickly add zoom in and zoom out keyframes, but it doesn't seem to be working for me.
appreciate teh video...is there a shortcut that when i am in the entering text into the inspector text box that will take me right back to the timeline so i dont have to grab the mouse?
Nice, I didn't know about the J, K, L keys. One thing I've come across when using the delete key (ripple delete) is sometimes it will effect audio tracks or other video tracks. I find that locking the tracks makes it easier, at least for me, when I use the delete key (ripple delete). When the ripple delete does too much ripple deleting Ctrl-Z is my best friend.
I hear that! For me are usually turn off the auto track selectors on the audio tracks so I don’t ripple delete them an accident. But like in the track works just as well. I do love some Ctrl Z as well. 😜

Wow the track selector... Before this video, I was pasting on wherever it chose to paste, then moving to the track I want, then cutting it again and pasting it where I want... I think you just saved me some time in the future.

@@JasonYadlovski Thank you for the answer. I understood why. My keyboard is different from Davinci Resolve. The mapping or layout is different. In fact, when I open the keyboard configuration and try the key combination, I don't see evidence of which key I pressed because the keyboard layout is different. I have to change the shortcut configuration.
Jason, thank you for this great video. I was trying to make the changes (personalizing some shortcuts) today, but I couldn't find "Start to Playhead (Ripple Delete Left)" or its partner. I'm in DR18. That's the version you used for the tutorial, right?

Hey! I loved all the shortcuts, but one thing I'm interested about is at 1:12 you made the screen dark and a certain bit of the screen is bright (the important bit) do you have a tutorial on this?
I would just search it And I’m sure you’ll find something, but if you look at people like Casey Faris, Mr. Alex tech, my channel, and a lot of us other Davinci resolve UA-camrs, you’ll find everything you need to know. 😁👍 welcome to Resolve!
Absolutely fantastic!! I knew about most of these but some were a revelation. This is especially helpful because I live and die by the keyboard. I don't even have a mouse. I have a touchpad, but prefer the precision of the keys. My current project is 1.25 hrs long, so alt-Y is my best friend. :-) By the way, I like the idea of reassigning keys but haven't tried it. Maybe a future QTT opportunity? Awesome QTT, Jay! Keep'em coming!
What's the difference between the "Razor" shortcut and "Split clip". Some people recommend the Razor (not Blade) and others the "Split clip" command. I did't see a difference, but on the other hand: Why would there be two different commands for the same thing, there must be something different, right?
Great question, I never thought about it. I don’t think it really matters, in my mind they do the same thing. 😜 I have a keyboard shortcut mapped to the razor tool, and it just makes the cut.
Can you disable auto track selector completely? Ive been working on a project with like 10 video layers and its driving me insane.. its always screwing things up by selecting other layers for what seems no reason
@@JasonYadlovski is there a reason why it turns itself back on even after disabling it? You can disable it entirely? Is it a setting in the options or a keyboard shortcut ? ... unless by turning off you meant clicking the symbol within the panel
Any way of making a keystroke to automatic reduce speed to 40% ??? Please tell me there is, I hate haveing to right click, click retime and choosing some no normal % or dragging out my clip to 40%. I cannot believe this is not an option, specially when the proper % to slow down 60p clips is 40% and not the options like 50% in that drop down.. WTH? And how about removing all attributes from a Clip like in FCPX Shift command X? And in FCPX if I option click a whole category Like color or transform it select all this attributes I want. Not having to individually click each box in a section. Is that possible? Thanks!!
@@JasonYadlovski I just want to slow my 60p down to 40% quickly. Which is the normal % to slow down 60p clips. But why should I have to control click then choose a drop down when I do that 100's of times a day... Hope that makes sense. I switch between making my clips normal or 40% slow down quite often. Thanks anyways..
@ekphotography did you try changing it in the media pool by right clicking on the clip, going to clip attributes and changing the frame rate? Then every other clip you bring into the timeline will already be set.
@@JasonYadlovski Thanks, I figure it out, and now have set up Alt R on Mac set up and it brings up the retime with Custom % I can type in... Thanks buddy!!
nice, these are all helpful. I actually only used resolve for around a month after using Adobe AE for nearly 20 years... I already use all of these shortcuts - and I don't think I'm going back to Adobe AE unless it becomes significantly better.

You can find them if you go to the timeline menu, there are several of them, called the following: Timeline Menu --> Select Clips Backwards/Select Clips Forwards: Select Clips Backwards on this Track Select Clips Backwards on All Tracks Select Clips Forward on this Track Select Clips Forward on All Tracks

@@JasonYadlovski Ohh, no worries!
J,K,L were the Best !!!! & Pressing P Turns on the Full Screen to watch all the edit on the 2nd Final Screen .
Nice! Thanks for sharing!

Do you have plans to cover Black Magic's speed editor?
No, I don't have the speed editor. I purchased Studio before they had that deal. Bummer I missed it! 😜
@@JasonYadlovski are you referring to the deal of studio + speed editor for $290? I know that's still active
Yeah, The speed editor deal. When I purchased Resolve, they didn’t have the speed editor yet.
Ive just recently made the move from sony vegas to davinci, does anyone know a good guide channel for that specific move??
I would just search it And I’m sure you’ll find something, but if you look at people like Casey Faris, Mr. Alex tech, my channel, and a lot of us other Davinci resolve UA-camrs, you’ll find everything you need to know. 😁👍 welcome to Resolve!
@@JasonYadlovski thank you so much for the reply, i subbed 😇❤️
Thanks for the sub, welcome to the community!
By the way, I like the idea of reassigning keys but haven't tried it. Maybe a future QTT opportunity?
Awesome QTT, Jay! Keep'em coming!
Thanks! 😁👍 I might have to make a quick tip Tuesday about reassigning key.
Yes, you can turn it off. You can also Lock the track, then you can't change the track. I might go for locking the track in your situation.
@@JasonYadlovski is there a reason why it turns itself back on even after disabling it? You can disable it entirely? Is it a setting in the options or a keyboard shortcut ? ... unless by turning off you meant clicking the symbol within the panel
Strange, it should not turn itself back on as far as I know.
thank you
You're welcome
thx for video u r amazing GOD blessssss!!!!!PEACE!!!!!!!

Is there any shorcut for media pool, effects tabs to open?
Not sure there might be. I just click it to open it.
@@JasonYadlovski found it... Ctrl 6 and so on...
Thanks!!
I'm not sure about making a keystroke, but you can just copy/paste attributes.....🤔
Awesome, welcome to the Resolve train! 😁
Use these shortcuts for easier and faster cuts

Hey Jason does Copying Attributes using Alt+V does not work on text tile ?? For me it didn't. Does it for you ?
Which attributes are you trying to paste?
@@JasonYadlovski I Clicked All Attributes in which only Font was Changed in the Previous One, but I Clicked all Attributes
I have to give it a try and see how it works.
So whats #10 shortcut name? trying to have one button for it :)
You can find them if you go to the timeline menu, there are several of them, called the following:
Timeline Menu --> Select Clips Backwards/Select Clips Forwards:
Select Clips Backwards on this Track
Select Clips Backwards on All Tracks
Select Clips Forward on this Track
Select Clips Forward on All Tracks
thanks
