  • Where to begin lol. Here's my story:
    Now to begin with I had an exhaust leak before the turbo which means decrease in power. On top of that I had steering issues with the wheels rubbing (put smaller spacers in and didn't hammer out the fender wells) where it would hit my wheel which meant it didn't counter steer by itself so I had to try to do it myself. Also there were SOO many drifters. I only had 9 total runs.... So I picked my best run of the day which was bad lol but you can hear how AWESOME RB's sound.
    Got motor 5 days before the event, we quickly rushed to get the motor in before the event. Everything seemed to be going great. ALL parts came in time EXCEPT my driveshaft... Asked the company what's up 2 days before the event.. Said the guy got sick who makes the driveshafts. He told me theres another shop that can make one, but I had to overnight the driveshaft in the morning of the event. Quickly we put the driveshaft in, all good. Next thing, wouldnt go into gear. Fixed that. Coolant started leaking from bad hose. Fixed that. Yay off to the track I went, 4 hours late lol.

    Steering is a little angry - the RB made my s13 nose heavy too. Put the battery in the back and try to get a lighter hood and you know... :) -

  • @valera12345
    @valera12345  11 років тому

    The RB is heavier yes which lowered my front some which caused me to rub places. Also my steering rack rod that goes to the steering wheel is practically sitting on the turbo elbow lol so that's why the car isnt counter steering like it should. Like it suppose to counter steer by itself but it just kinda stops and I have to do it myself.

    my old sr motor sat for around 6 years and it ran like it was brand new i regret selling my s13 the car was a monster and your rb should be perfectly fine my only advise would be to change the rocker arms and get a cam with deeper lobes on it they help out a lot make it so you dont have to run such high boost id keep it around 12-14 my sr was on 17-18 and i bent a lot of rocker arms and chipped cams a bunch so they are with out a doubt worth it

    An RB30E Engine in a 1986 Nissan Skyline R31 or 1988 Holden Commodore VL (what i've got). The VLs are Australian and can come from factory with a turbo. There is a Wiki page on why the Nissan engine is in the Holden VL, but I can't remember by heart. Something to do with Unleaded fuel.

    Is the RB really better than the SR for drifting? I've heard mixed opinions, but mostly the SR is waaaaay lighter and seems better for drifting. Have you noticed any major difference in weight and handling?

  • @TheFormalGuy

    Is it more front end heavy now?

  • @tribaldrummergod
    @tribaldrummergod 11 років тому

    Looks as though you are experiencing some understeer now. Is the RB heavier than the SR? Or is the different spacing of the front tires now what effected it? Just seems like compared to all your other vids, you have to steer into the slide more to get it to slide out.

    Also the Series 2 Rb25 engines from the late model R33's and R34's have different intakes compared to the earlier Series 1 RB25 engines. I've already built 500+HP Skyline engines with my friend carlos whos in the D1NZ drift series.

    the motor swap changed your front end. the front ways alot more so its possible you need to change so suspension settings. but the swap will be well worth it the in man keep going.

    When you wire up an RB harness into an S-chassis sometimes the rpm's don't work.

  • @TheFormalGuy
    @TheFormalGuy 11 років тому

    Yes, I have seen one in a Toyota Cressida. 1JZ engines are reasonably affordable in Australia and there is a 1JZ engine swap into a cressida on mightycarmods, Mightycarmods bought a half-cut from japan and the cressy for a total build cost of $3000. Check it out on their channel.

  • @SERI0USB33F
    @SERI0USB33F 11 років тому

    1JZ's and it's running gear in 'prime' condition is probably worth more then the actual car itself. They're highly sort after because of it's tuning options and raw standard power peak ratios.
    If you find a 1JZ and it's going cheap then there's a problem with it, unless it's one of those '1 in a million' finds lol
    Amazing engines though, ever seen one planted into a Toyota Cressada?

  • @fman9210
    @fman9210 11 років тому

    ok, fair point, but alot of people tune them to way over the 450hp mark and dont even have to try! maybe you wont! but when youre underpowered and you finally drift a big ass turn like the v8 guy's can its far more rewarding! especially after weeks of tuning and adding bits and pieces!

    A 26 is a little harder to work with, being AWD you have to work around removing that, (some come with a sensor you pull out for the front diff) But the custom work that would have to be done is a lot for a guy on a budget, RB25=RWD, Smaller and still fun.,
