- Do you struggle with clutter? I know the feeling! Last month I took on the ULTIMATE Decluttering Challenge where I committed to daily decluttering goals with a final item count of 496 items. It sounds impossible but if I can do it, so can YOU! In this video I share how it went for me and my advice for you!

I'm excited to start watching this video you posted 6 days ago because I'm in major purge and declutter mode myself. I call it "getting molecules out of the house" and every time I take even a small bag of molecules to the Salvatioin Army donation center it puts a smile on my face. The "number per calendar date" formula is a fun one, but I'm not sure I can start that on Feb. 1 because I already have momentum and done want to have a day with only one thing now. On Jan. 16 I got rid of 18 Madonna vinyl records. That felt good. But if I was doing your challenge I would have been 2 days too early! 🤣🤣🤣
Molecules out of the house - lol! Cracking me up! OH the Madonna Vinyl! Was that hard?
@@sierralovesdogs No the Madonna vinyl riddance was not hard. I used to be a HUGE fan but we had a bad breakup a few years ago when I had tickets to see her in concert on a weekday for the 6th time and that b*** went on stage 3 hours and 40 minutes past the time printed on the ticket. So I'm done with her. We are never, ever, ever getting back together. The only reason I didn't get rid of her vinyl sooner wasn't because I was keeping it for sentimental reasons but I just haven't gone through my vinyl for years. I have about 100 albums now that I don't think I will ever part with. At one point in my life I had over 1,000.
Great video! Thanks for all the ideas and the inspiration! Last comment for today with a little story. I have a box of homemade dollhouse furniture from the 1970's that I loved as a child. I saved it all for my child to play with, and guess what? She didn't. She played with American Girl doll stuff, which wasn't around (I don't think) when I was a little girl. I bet there's at least 500 individual pieces in this box so I could actually achieve the monthly challenge in a single day. But anyway, I recently got the idea to take it all out of the box and set it up on our kitchen counter and get one more time to touch and feel these sentimental items. And then take a video and pictures of it all so that in the future if I want to revisit these memories I could do so digitally. Of course I can't tell my mother about this plan because she would say "No! You Can't Do That!" But I am going to do it and just not tell her because my plan is for Carly to have less of this sort of stuff in the house to sort through after my husband and I are dead than what I know I'm going to have to deal with when my parents die. I'm curious, now that I have brought up the subject of death, if that ever crosses your mind while you are decluttering? The whole "less stuff for our kids to have to deal with when we die" concept.
OMG I still have my Cabbage Patch kid that I can't part with, but why? My kids don't want it! But she was so special to me.... ugh. I love that you videoed your toy doll set - that's beautiful and you'll always have that memory. YES - I do think of trying to prevent my kids having to sort through my things. Have you heard of Swedish Death Cleaning? That's kind of the idea behind that. It's not morbid at all - I think it's just helpful. I don't want to put all that on them.
@@sierralovesdogs I have never heard of the "Swedish Death Cleansing" but I just googled it and that's exactly what this mindset is all about. I agree with you that it is helpful and not morbid at all. And our kids will thank us someday and ultimately it will make our passing easier on them.
Still love your genuine freshness. Your wine video was so funny!
The wine video was the BEST!!!
Thanks so much Teia! I appreciate you watching and commenting!
Thank you, good time of the year, to try this challenge I'll start in February!😀
Oh you are? That's amazing! Please keep me posted on how it goes Tanya!
Happy Monday
Hello and Happy Sunday (I'm late to comments!) ShebaCat!
For us guys, it is tools! Just dumped 80% of my tools in the dumpster. Most of them were broke and rusty.
Oof - how did that feel? Was it hard to get rid of them? I guess it's easier if they aren't in good shape.
@ Good…but I turned around and spent $12,000 in new tools replacing everything? Does that count? 😉
@@KoolaBon oof! Well, you probably saved your life and that's worth the $12K. Rusty broken tools are dangerous! (See how I help you justify?)
@@sierralovesdogs ya! and we use tools all the time around our ranch.
See, look at you! You can totally declutter a lot. 😮
I can, but I still have SOOO much left! It's never ending!
OMG Columbia and BMG memberships!!! Join-Buy-Cancel-Renew like Rinse-Lather-Repeat!!! Now that brings back memories!!! I did this countless times with records and CD's. Why am I not surprised that we have this in comment too???
I think we shared a childhood - lol! Those were the best deals, right?
In October we bought a new (to us) condo. We move in 21 days. I have purged so many items, a lot crafting supplies and clothes. Our local thrift store must be very happy 😆 We still have more to move than I thought we would but we are not planning to move ever again. Yes, that’s what we said last time 😂
OMG a 21 day move! That is SO stressful! Good for you for purging! I bet the craft supplies were hard - hope someone can use them!
Sierra Leone🇸🇱
I have never been there! Maybe I should visit!
You were named after Sierra Leone 🇸🇱
You will visit it one day
@ I was named after the Sierra Nevada mts in California! ⛰️
There’s Sierra Nevada mts in California damn I didn’t know that I’m British so I don’t know anything about that
Was that 26-piece punch set a gift from someone?
I think it was my dad's mom's: Carnival Glass, but I don't think I ever used it!
