Photos are absolutely the best souvenir from any trip. I'm 100% with you on that fact ... but I still like going into the trinket shops. But our fridge is covered in magnets with no real estate for new ones really. And I've got so many coffee mugs its absolutely crazy. But you will appreciate this ... I just bought a new coffee mug at Disney and when I did I made myself promise that when I arrived home I would get ride of TWO coffee mugs. And I did. And that felt good. So my new rule with coffee mugs in 1 in 2 out. Which makes me have to really really love the new mug!
Good job on the mugs! Yes, that's exactly the kind of thinking I mean - just be intentional with what you (I) bring in the house. I bet that new one is great!
@@sierralovesdogs It was very ironic timing that I allowed myself to buy another mug with this promise to myself (something I've never done before) and then you are talking about this exact same strategy in your video. It kinda made my jaw drop! Another "challenge" I've been doing with my overstuffed closet (which is teeny tiny by the way) is to grab something that I haven't worn in a while that is weather and occasion appropriate for whatever I'm doing that day and put on the item and if I'm not willing to wear it on that specific challenge day it goes in the Salvation Army box. This too has been a good exercise for me. "Wear it now, or wear it never!" is what I call this challenge. I need to declutter so badly. I can't wait to watch your next video ... after I finish editing and posting the next long overdue Teslucky video!
@@TesLUCKY OHOHOHOH! I am doing this RIGHT now! I have all my blouses/blazers that I don't wear as much now that I'm not in office full time and in the month of January I'm forcing myself to wear or donate all of them! I agree - If I can't wear it that day, it's out! So funny we are doing the same thing!
One of my favorite places to go get souvenirs is a local flea market. I stay away from getting something that says the name of the place though. I recently went to Japan and got vintage clothes and art and have zero regrets!
Oh yes, I love shopping local finds. And kind of the same for me - I'm not going to not buy ANYTHING, just not a traditional souvenir with the name of the place on it. Those clothes and art from Japan sound amazing!
Hello Karen, neighbor up north! Yes, they are so hard. I actually just came home with some of our book club reads for the year so I need to pick 5 books to say goodbye to now. 😭 Wahhhh
Thank you for the video, you're an inspiration. I committ to not buying candles & perfumes. I can't committ to not buy books 🙈 I'll have to go through my stuff to see what else can I add. New subscriber here 🙌
Hi Tanya! Thanks so much for commenting and also subscribing! I appreciate it so much! Yay to you for committing not to buying candles and perfume - we're on the same path there! (Until I use up what I have, which will probably take me 5 years!). Yeah, books is hard. I just have too many already!
Happy New Year, Sierra! I'm just now getting to your latest video because our life has been crazy busy! I'm already loving the no-buy challenge concept (which is truthfully something I've never heard about before) but I am right there with you in terms of having way too many candles!!! So I'm going to take on the no-buy candle challenge myself for 2025. And truth be told I probably have enough candles in our house to burn until 2030. But in my defense, they are considered essential hurricane supplies here in Florida.
Ha ha! I love the justification for candles! Yes, I need them too for our PGE power outages! Especially "Mimosa Sunrise" and "Fall Leaves" right? Right there with you - think I would need to burn a candle a week to get through what I have! Love that you are taking on the challenge!
@@sierralovesdogs Yes a "Mimosa Sunrise" candle could help someone get through a natural disaster! And if you start mailing out candles to your viewers I'll take that one, please! 🤣🤣🤣
Don't be embarrassed! I'm so impressed with your progress. I'm doing a no buy on makeup for Q1, then re evaluating. I'm also doing some specific projects to help me use what I have so when I do buy something new, it has a better chance of getting used. But also, I'm staying off the Amazon deal groups on fb! I buy a lot if random stuff I don't need because it's on a great deal.
Ugh! I'm such a sucker for a deal too! Are you posting videos about how you are planning to use up your makeup? I would love to hear more. Sometimes I just put the thing I want to start using on my bathroom counter as a reminder (the counter is 'mostly' clear otherwise) but I'd love to hear other suggestions!
That's wonderful of being mindful of what your purchasing. For me body spray and perfume. Not buying one until I've used one.I also need to limit buying dresses to maybe 5 a season and then donate ones I no longer wear still working on that one. Great video!
Hi Tanya! Yes body spray and perfume for sure. I LOVE the Bath & Body Works one and just sucked into the smell! And then they always have deals - I can't reisist. Oh dresses is one for me, too. I do have to add as a P.S. ... last year we went to Ireland and I bought these adorable sheep socks and every time I put them on my feet they make me so happy and these socks take me back to Ireland. So if you ever do go back to buying souvenirs I would recommend socks.
@@sierralovesdogs We had an amazing time in Ireland. We spent a full week there. 3 days in Dublin (for the Taylor Swift Eras Tour concert!!!) and then 4 days driving around the northern half of Ireland. I'm from Michigan. I'm a sucker for souveniers! I like to find unique items, that are linked to the city you're at. Also like magnets, postcards and those crystal blocks, with the city/picture etched inside.
Hi Melanie in Michigan! I LOVE souvenirs which is why that part of the challenge was so hard! Oh yes - those crystal blocks are so pretty. I know exactly what you are talking about. Do you collect those?
I have a clutter issue as well that I am currently working on. Which made me enjoy this new video of yours that much more. But I don't think you can have too many promotional lip balms in the house. They don't take up a lot of space and I use them 10X a day. Just saying. 🤣 Thanks for a super fun and inspirational video! I hope you hit 10K subs soon. I wish I could subscribe twice.
