REALLY Appreciate the support.
Love that you kept it short and sweet. So many people make videos like these and spend 10 minutes spewing bullshit about completely unrelated things and then they tell you "in this video I'm going to go over blah blah" over and over but don't actually tell you until 23 minutes into a 30 minute video 👀
It’s like when you want to look up a recipe and they spend the first 9 pages going over their life story… just give me the steps and ingredients 😭
They do that so they can run more ads
8 minutes is the golden YT # for monetization unfortunately.
This car is a superb example of what the platform is capable of. So raw so focused. Thanks for the videos
Really appreciate that feedback! Thank you!
Thanks for another video full of "inspiration" about things I could do. I'll be taking my 987.1 "poor mans Porsche" out for a run tomorrow. It's a little base 5spd with the sport chrono which really tightens the throttle response. I'll turn the PSM off and stop wearing the rear brakes out. 😉
Whenever I see the purple rear calipers on an S model it’s a classic sign of poor driving with PSM on :)
Enjoy it!!
This has now become a dream car of mine. Thanks for sharing
What a machine! Sounds so good! I didn't even know these existed until i found your channel
Had similar noise with the blistein coilovers on an r53 mini... And it was the coils hitting the frame just a bit. I had to reduce the negative camber a bit to avoid this noise.
I commented recently about getting an e85 z4 3.0i and I finally got one! First step towards something as incredible as this car
Congratulations on that! It's fun to finally get what we've worked so hard and sought for. All the best :)
This is how you Boxster 🤝
Whats up man, love your videos, especially the driving ones. Just picked up a 987.2 Cayman S. Keep up the great work.
will you make any type of driving tips video in the future? absolutely love your way of driving especially those crispy rev matches
Brakes! We need deets on brakes & brake pads. Love watching you drive! Can’t wait for the heel n toe vid. Been struggling with that
Stoked for the heel toe driving lesson, trying to learn how to do that properly this summer.
Saw an Aqua Blue 6MT that sold for a whopping $64,500 in 2019. What a steal back then... Then there's one on Rennlist asking way too much. Probably the same buyer hoping to double his money. Love the videos man! Keep it up.
Aqua blue on tan interior with LWB and 6psd with silver wheels and ceramics would be my dream configuration
And thank you for the support and kinds words!
Your videos are such a treat! This one’s to the point, which I like. Amazing upgrades and what a machine you have built!!🤯🤩 Keep it up bro💪🏼
Thank you for the kind words, the car is so much fun to drive... I had it out again last night and wish I had filmed... just really had the time of my life... Feeling very lucky to get to drive this thing on such good empty roads :)
you're building a really unique monster of a car
Great driving
this is sick, makes me want a boxster/cayman. the flywheel rev speed is hawt and that is coming from a s2000 owner lol
this in my eyes is the perfect setup for a boxster
It’s a little too stiff for daily use. But you will love the directness of the steering.
@@DasCayman haha for sure, i had a stock boxster 986, lowered and on 997 turbo wheels, miss it everyday, it drove like nothing else, will get another one one day
Hey man just wanted to say if you make 10+ min vids for your “average video” the Maintenance/mods and driving into one video you would do numbers man,I’m looking thru your channel and I see that you post multiple times per week, you could def make one vid a week that’s longer format keep it up tho👍
Hey! Thanks for the feedback, so rather than do multiples just make one long video?
Hey man.. love the car. I have a 15 cayman s (pse) with tune. I’m ordering fabspeed race headers tonight. Hello engine lights!
Would love to shoot you a link for that!
Haha I got the same control arms and the same creek but man that extra camber REALLY sharpened the steering up.
What alignment did you do? I’m -2.0 all 4 corners, 0° toe. And max caster. The suspension really helped give a ton of directness to the wheel
@@DasCayman 2.5 front, 2.2 rear, neutral toe front, toe in 4mm cumulative rear. I went a bit more aggressive, but my sway bars are setup identically to yours. How do you like Cup 2's over P4S?
Yeah that sounds like a good setup. I only use mine on backroads which is why I went -2.0. But I like the Cup2 year round tbh. Top of the line grip when they are fresh, and then as they age you do lost ultimate grip, but you get an extremely responsive tire, so you can slide it so easily and have fun. Since the Cup2 was only like and extra $200 for the set over a 4S I went with that. They work in the winter too, but just have to expect less grip, they aren't as bad as the internet will lead you to believe. Thanks for the feedback!
Ok, here’s a question. I like your text over the screen about how your new tires have too much grip. Where’s the sweet spot for you? Thanks.
Would you consider a 987.2 Boxter S, considering its identical drivetrain and similarity, if you're going to do the suspension work anyway? I much prefer the look of the Spyder, but it's hard to justify the price difference, especially now that they're more expensive in a nice spec like yours. It seems like I could get a nearly identical driving experience for less with an S that's modified
Yeah I have the same question. I even saw that you can adapt the rear trunk of the Spyder into the boxter s . I guess that's the only difference between the 2 if you are going to do this mods and the cars are of the same period
it's an identical chassis, different engine tune, you can get this same driving experience with a Boxster S. Or even a base Boxster if you're okay with less power. The LSD in the Spyder and R is probably the biggest difference. At the end of the day, all the same 987 underneath.
I'd like to know about this too, great point
@@Rockit181 even the Boxster S with the 3.4L still doesn't have the LSD ?
@@joaovilafranca4523 correct, nor the Cayman S. It's a rare option
Damn, the Porsche tax is real on some of those parts
It's very real... I remember when I owned a Fiesta ST and I did "full bolt ons" ...intake, tune, exhaust, and front mount intercooler and it all cost me like $1k... I laughed and said "free!" Porsche $/HP is probably one of the worst especially for their NA engines. BUT, rather rewarding when you drive it.
You are a legend!
Thank you bro 🙏🏻
987.2 Spyder is peak Porsche...crazy to think how a base 911 carrera is now 700lbs heavier than this
Isn’t the current base carrera about 500lbs heavier than this? Still a fattie no doubt
911 got mainstream and people want their amenities
@@acardinalconsideration824 2025 992.2
My local Porsche GM says of all the cars he wants, he always goes with a 987.2 Spyder :)
Whenever you get on it the captions say [music] and I couldn't agree more
Wait I love that lmao!
With a sports car, I’m a firm believer in removing all the rubber… rose joint everything and let the shocks/coilovers do their job
Yes! I think I need to make my dampening on the Spyder a bit more compliant though lol. It's rather stiff.
would you ever do a pov vid with the 997 cab?
Yes I would, but I call it the “wine cruiser” so it would be a chill video.
@@DasCayman would love that! tbh i'd watch you drive anything 😂 best povs on YT
Love your videos! Any good buys for a new manual driver? I learned a few years ago and haven’t driven much since (I have a DSG Audi). I am a younger guy in my 20s who’s considering getting either a bike or a manual Porsche (or something with a similar refinement) in the next few years. I’d love any tips on a good starter car to learn on and get as good at handling these cars as you are!
Thank you! Really can’t go wrong with a Miata or S2000 for cheap and good learning for driving. Bikes are such a cheat code because a $15k used bike will buy you basically the car equivalent of a Pagani. My Spyder is the only car that keeps me off my Aprilia Tuono I will say
Is the suspension compliant enough to give a comfy ride when chilling or too stiff for that?
watching these mod videos about a car i don’t own…yet
That creak is not from the spherical bushings and is not normal. Something has been installed incorrectly.
Had the entire suspension overlooked and checked by Porsche race tech. Says it’s all good / normal NVH for this setup. Has your experience been different?
@@DasCayman Yeah, I've had full spherical settings on 987, 964, 930, 997, and never heard that. I'd suspect your springs might be bunching up and not rotating freely at extreme steering lock.
Hmm. This is good feedback thank you. I'll inspect the spring perches / top hats. Usually the lower the car, the less pre-load on the springs so they should be able to rotate easily. I'll have to circle back on this.
Great video!! Do you find this car more fun than the GT4 RS?
On the backroads… 100%. GT4RS is just too fast in my opinion to be exploited and used. Instead of going 120, you’ll be going 150… speed isn’t the fun, it’s the exploitation of a platform and theater you get while doing so that is.
hey big fan of your stuff. im in the market for a 987.2. i was wondering how close a 2010 987.2 Boxster S comes to the spyder. i can get an S with 10k miles for under 30k and was wondering with a few choice mods how close i can get to the spyder in terms of handling and drivetrain performance.
nearly identical if you add the same mods, even the engine is the same. The hardest things to replicate would be the (expensive) carbon bucket seats and LSD. But you can put in some Recaro buckets instead. An S is a much better deal really
What are your alignment specs?
Great stuff, looking at all these mods. What part of the US are you based?
Depends on the season, but East Coast
Convert to 997.2 centerlocks. It’s possible… but I don’t believe anyone has done it, let alone to a spyder. It’s on my long term drawing board (having already done it my Carrera)
That would be a mega $$$ mod for not much performance gain imo… but would be cool!
You could do porsche experience in Atlanta.
That’s a pay to play deal :)
Those mods shouldn’t give you creaky steering though
I’ve heard the same noises on actual cup cars in parking lots being pushed around. My suspension shop says it’s part of the lunch too when going all spherical bearing
How did you decide on the billstein suspension? There’s tons of reputable brands out there for upgrading Porsche curious about your decision!
For me Bilstein was a name and trusted brand. I wanted adjustment but not too much adjustment since I don’t race this car on a track for money. A lot the of 3 way Moton or JRZ products can run into the $10k range. I’m very happy with the decision. I have the same setup on my Cayman S
Anything you can share with the mods done to the engine?

Do you have sport chrono on this model? Apologies if that is a standard feature on any 2011 Speedster
Yes I do have sport chrono, but it is not standard
do you get the parts purchased offline? If yes then why not online?
Yes online!
Any idea why the Tarrett front swaybar that you have (26mm) is twice the cost of the larger 28mm bar?
Could be just different R&D costs, where the parts are made, warranty, testing, etc
