She explains it as if it’s so simple. Washing your cloths by hand is simple. A device with knobs and dials that you don’t know what they do, set it for a certain amount of time when you don’t know how long it needs to be. You have to separate the cloths too I to lights, colors (which that one isn’t that hard) and separate from light to heavy and delicate to normal. It’s just too much

It has nothing to do with weaponized incompetence though. I think it’s that because you have a vagina you must do the laundry. Or because you have a vagina you can’t use a car Jack. That’s the trad wife thing. Which I don’t even mind, that’s a preference. It’s when you say a woman MUST/MUST NOT that it’s a problem for me.

That's what the traditional wife and in turn traditional husband lifestyle is about.

As a scandinavian woman, I can confirm that these washing machines are not for the weak. Scandinavian washing machines are a central part of nordic tradition. When a young lady is come of age, she must defeat a polar bear while blindfolded, and then collect one of its fangs to present to our honorable Jarl. It is a rite of passage, to prove that we are capable of surviving on our own. Once the task is complete, we are gifted a brand new washing machine by our parents, and we leave home to find a mate.

Everything was PERFECT and exactly what I wanted out of life UNTIL I got medicated. Being young and good and trusting doctors whole heartedly at the time, I didn't question enough. I just took what they gave me. It ended up ultimately destroying my life. It took me down a path where I lost EVERYTHING and for YEARS I was in such a deep dark depression I couldn't even get myself to get out of bed or even bathe anymore often than I absolutely HAD TO. I just wanted to die. Tried a few times, but what I did either wasn't enough, or my husband would come home at some random time and save me. Though it didn't change my beliefs, it did change everything else. My energy levels, my brain chemistry, my life... I'm literally just now starting to try to get my life back together. And when I say "just now", I mean YESTERDAY was the first time I started feeling some sort of true HOPE again. I started vitamin supplements a few days ago ( curcumin, fish oil, milk thistle, and B - complexes. ) as well as having started the first couple chapters of an amazing bible study on the Signs of the End Times. It hasn't even been a full 24 hours yet since I feel like that spark has been relit, so I pray to God I can make myself strong enough to keep my spirits up and not also myself to once again fall prey to my own shameful past of sin and misery ( which all started bc I doctor medicated me ).

Its a stupid word that feminists created to "win arguments". Always using language to fight.
Its made up. It simply means the person doesnt care enough to learn. But most people have trouble learning things they simply dont care about.
That is how people become really good at some subjects and bad at others.
Its not weaponized, its simply that people are different. For example, there are women who are terrible at cooking. Men arent even allowed to expect her to learn how to cook. I guarantee no feminist is going to say the wife is using weaponized incompetence by refusing to learn how to cook well. After all, how dare he expect anything from his wife.
She simply doesnt have the inclination to learn how to cook, so he becomes the cook of the family or she does take out.
So Michael doesnt know how to operate those complex washing machines. He doesnt have an inclination for it, so he doesnt learn it. But its not like he knows it right now.
The problem with the word is its almost exclusively only used against men. Nobody ever gets mad at women for not learning things that men are typically expected to do.
Basically, the word itself was just made as a weapon, like mansplaining, manspreading, or any other number of words made to exclusively attack the male sex hypocritically.

Pro tip, you can use about fourth cup of white vinegar mixed with a fourth cup water in the fabric softener slot. It doesn't stick to the fibers and because it's a weak acid it kind of fluffs up the fibers making them cozy. Doesn't harm the machine, doesn't smell, and much cheaper!

Dang, yeah if that’s how it was then you dodged a bullet.
I take care of everything in our home, as my husband works full time. I am in school full time though, and care for our child full time. Really it would be better if he would help with a couple things, such as exercising our dog, caring for our garden, or doing the finances. I’m sure he’ll see that with time though.
I’m curious what you think about this (and it’s not as relevant in my life anymore, just asking for sanity's sake):
when I was pregnant, I was working three jobs (biking about a mile to work in the heat of summer), coming home, making dinner, then going to a second job for a few hours, and the third job was a couple times a week for a full day. All labor intensive jobs. My husband worked two jobs, one very labor intensive on a cattle farm, the other the same as me, the evening job on another farm.
What I found frustrating was that I was expected to cook 3 meals, clean, do the laundry & dishes, and take care of our dog, all while working (a little bit) more than him. He never decided to pick up the slack, it was just always my responsibility. That hasn’t really changed, but he does work outside of the home now while I do not, so I no longer consider it to be that situation.
All that being said, do you think it is a give and take depending on where people are devoting their energy, or is it simply the wife's responsibility to do all of the homemaking things?
Thank you in advance for your response!

@@faithofamustardseed8198 I think Jason is right, but this is why us traditional men dont want our wives working. Women didnt evolve to handle stress the same as men. First, you shouldnt be going to school. Mother and wife comes first. He already brings home the bacon. Now, if he is not working on ways to make more money and thats why you think you have to bring in money also, then he is failing as a husband. But if you are insisting on your career even when you dont need to, then you are failing as a mother and wife.
Roles work best and always have since the beginning of time in all societies. I get that you were raised to think that there is no pride in anything except working for a soulless corporation that doesnt care about you, so you just cant see anything else as fulfilling except a career. I feel bad for you in that regard. But it is you putting too much on your plate.
Now, as for him, he should be helping to walk the dog. So tell him, he needs to help with the dog more, or you will get rid of them. He cant be saying they are that important if they are 90% your responsibility. Give him an ultimatum of some kind. Men usually get it and can make it work if they have consequences, and those should be related to the dogs.
A traditional man already understands that he is to help with things, and usually outdoor or dirty things or animals. Yes, he should be helping.
As for the garden, is that something he even wanted? If its something mostly you want, then I dont see why he would help. If you have too much else on your plate and he doesnt care about it, then just let it languish.
If he cares about it, give him things to do and say I need your help with this or we just let it die.
      Again, ultimatum and consequences.
I want to get back to your past scenario. Roles are important but we dont mean that they need to be hard lined.
Just that generally men and women are different. Outside of the dogs, everything else would be your responsibility and the 3 jobs are your own choice, not something you needed to do, so that shouldnt be on him.
I am glad he is doing enough now that you dont need to work (at all I guess?) but is he doing any traditional household stuff? He may not have fixing skills, but is the yard taken care of by him? Do you feel safe with him around? Is he bumming around too much when not working or does he seem productive at home such as productive hobbies (not just video games where you sit around a lot)
Now, a guy should have his relaxation time, even if it needs to be scheduled, but I just find women seem to love picking the guys who are really loafers, then complain about it a lot. But sometimes its ok, if he is at least doing things you need him to do on his day(s) off.
There is so much I dont know, but generally I say he should be making your life easy. Housework is easy. The kids are stressful but they are more about how you manage them. Modern western women seem to hate motherhood so much, but you just dont see these struggles with Asian women (I lived in Asia for years) or South American women. Its such a western woman thing to think that motherhood is so much worse than what is typically mans work, and the cringe of men saying the same, especially when those men are doing dangerous or disgusting jobs. So dont get much sympathy from me there.
Reminds me when you look up single father stories compared to single mother stories and despite getting less support, single fathers are overall less stressed by still have good outcomes.
So the key is managing things and stop making a big deal out of things.
Well, there is one mans perspective. A lot of women hate it, but thats because men and women are different.
So in finish, if there is something he directly wants, like dogs, do what I said above. He has the time no matter how much he works. Not all of the time, but say you walk them on days he works, and he deals with them on his day off.
I dont care how long a man works, he can sleep half the day, and still needs to be productive the other half. We are getting too lazy these days.

So, for many years he "did his own laundry". Actually, he'd throw the clothes in the washer & walk away. Days later, I'd find them when I did a load.

We just don’t want you messing with it because you’ll undoubtedly screw it up. So when women say stuff like “oh so bad man can’t do laundry, it’s all an act.

I would even add dishes to this. I hate grabbing what is supposed to be a clean dish and it is still greasy or grimey. No one in my house washes the dishes as thoroughly as I do, so I'll just do it, thanks.

Also, Laundry girl scoffed at you for asking your wife for help with how to do laundry, and then insulted you for how dumb you are because of it...only to then do the same thing she scolded you for by showing you how to do it herself instead. ROFL.

Living with a controlling mother, she insisted on doing my laundry even when I was grown and still living at home. I on the other hand taught my boys around age 10 to do their own laundry and I also taught them how to cook. I did this so my boys would not have to depend on a woman!! They are both 25 now, they do their own laundry and sometimes cooks their own meals, unless I've cooked already. And YES I changed a LOT of flat tires when I was in college, also learned to break into my car since I had a bad habit of locking my keys in the car... Even when I was married my husband did most his laundry, I usually folded it for him. I also made his lunch every night. When married, it's never gonna be 50/50, but both partners have to help out around the house since we both worked outside the house.

I love how this "weaponized incompetency" is always one-sided. My boyfriend does all of the home improvement projects, tractor work, and animal care. I could watch him do these things and learn how to do them myself, but I don't have an interest in it. Yet I am never called manipulative for not helping him with those tasks...
When his laundry is dirty, I do it. When I need my car worked on, he does it. It's not weaponized incompetency, it's gender roles.
