    I’m a pianist and I got the Yamaha P255 for a gift when I graduated high school a few years ago, and let me say its THE BEST digital piano I’ve ever had! I’ve been playing the piano for 12 years and I use this piano for all my music covers I have under my channel 😁 it feels great, sounds great, it’s sturdy, has an unlimited amount of effects and features, and has amazing quality. I give it a 5 star! ❤️

      People say the speakers are not so good compared to the usual speakers of the p series. Some say they're not that powerful but enough for home and some say the sound quality is bad on low frequencies. What do you say?

    The thing I remember about the P-255 is the key action feels fantastic. Great pianist, and very nice digital piano.

    • @YehPianoCovers

      how would the action compare to other digital pianos, uprights and grands? I'm looking for heavier keys, since I'm used to my upright and I find that keyboards are usually too light. any thoughts?

      No wayyyy
      That’s honestly my biggest fear
      I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to be an even more realistic feel than the p115

      @@YehPianoCovers hey uh I’ve noticed that u pretty good experience with a few pianos so I hv a question if u don’t mind me asking?
      Do u hv any piano options for me?
      I’m looking for pianos that shouldn’t be way too light but it shouldn’t be weighted keys either, it should be easier to work with too since I am a beginner, it should also hv a good sound quality, sorry for disturbing u btw, just wanted to say ur doing amaizng, keep doing what ur doing and tbh ur the reason I became so obsessed with pianos

    I love Yamaha's action. I've tried so many keyboards, but I always go back to Yamaha. I just tried this at a store, and this is amazing. Love the ivory color of the keys too. I wish they can make the exact same thing, and make it lighter even if on board speakers have to go.

      I hv a few questions about this certain keyboard if u don’t mind answering?
      -are the keys weighted?
      -is the sound quality good?
      -is it easy to use?
      -do u think this is the best piano u hv ever used or do u hv something better in mind? If so do u mind giving me a few options?

    Had it for almost 2 and a half years now. Speakers are decent, but you'll need external if you want the full potential. Keys are amazing, that is true. Pretty much everything this guy said is true. It's a really good Piano. I'm happy with it. Although I still miss my Kawai K8. That was a great instrument.

    I got my P-255 about 5 or 6 years ago and I'm still very happy with it. It was one of the first portable pianos that came bristling with useful extras, such as quality speakers, a great action, 2-track recorder linked to USB stick, several ways of tweaking the sounds/resonances, etc, and still only weighs 17.4kg. It's deal for home studio and light gigging.
    Does anyone know whether the four main piano patches are all just differently tweaked samples of the CFiii? Or is there another piano sample among them? Maybe of a C7? Notably, the GP3 patch. is a bit muted and less brilliant, so it gives my ears a break from the GP1 patch all the time, and mixes better with certain combinations of voices. Maybe it would please Kawai fans.
    It's hard to adjust split and layer sound levels on the fly. The bass and vibes always come out too quiet, particularly if they are recorded and then a piano patch is played over them. This is when I begin to wish I had a full stage piano, but for general use I'm very happy.
    My tip at gigs is to cut all onboard effects (including reverb) at least until you begin to get the right sound in the mix. It's always hard to match other amps/speakers to a digital piano. In many cases I increase the mids, both onboard and on any other mixer. If a mixer/amp has no mid on its EQ control, I might reduce both the bass and treble controls on it. I was about to give up on a certain powered speaker when I discovered these tricks.
    But in my home studio, I've been raising the onboard bass fader and reducing the treble fader, at least for the GP1 patch. Yamaha's don't have to be so "bright" particularly not when there are versatile controls, such as on the P-255.
    I'm practising a lot without any piano reverb added, so that I'll know my basic sound better when at gigs.

      @jonastreibel3237 7 років тому

      Andrey A I had to go through the same decision. But when playing both in comparison, the p255 feels more like a real piano than the fp 80. More realistic hammer action and piano sound. Nevertheless fp-80 is a great instrument. It's a question of what you're looking for.

    • @andy-an05
      @andy-an05 7 років тому +3

      Jonas T., thank you for reply. FP-80 is out of stock, Roland released FP-90 this year (or last year). I tried FP-90 in music store, but I didn't notice a huge difference between yamaha and roland. Probably cause I am a beginner. I decided not to pay 500-800€ extra for FP-90. I kept P-255 and as a beginner I am pretty happy with this instrument.

    The first electric piano sucks. It's so horrible. They used it for the P90, P140, P155...and for this P255. Such a lousy cheap electric piano sound. Not even close to anything of the 80s DX7 sound. That's why I never use it. I was shocked that the new P515 actually replicated the exact 1980s DX7 electric piano. It's incredible. It's about time the P series Incorporated that real DX7 sound.
