    Is this heat wave OVER YET???? hahaha Hello my friends I am seriously over this heat and hope this was the last heat wave of the year. Thank goodness for my faithful Vinca, marigolds and petunias. Those poor plants held on for dear life. I hate to see my water bill!!! Hope you all are staying cool and having a beautiful day in your garden too. Lets all pray for an early fall! 😇

      @@GardenHappy aren’t Vincas just the best for our hot zones ! I never thought they were that special and my mom who was an expert Gardner always mentioned them to me and now I just love them because maybe they come in prettier colors . 🥰

      @@Treesa62 Honestly Treesa62 I can't believe more people aren't growing them. Not many plants can survive a heat wave and full sun. . . I think the vincas are so under rated! Mothers know best right? hahaha 😄

    My water bill will be atrocious for this past month or two as well but it is worth it to me for the joy our gardens bring us. I love Wave Petunias as well, one for their beauty and toughness but also for their habit of reseeding giving us free plants the next year. I noted this year with my Supertunias that they got budworm while my Wave Petunias did not and they are right next to each other. Next week it is to cool down. As for the barrel, why don't you make it a seasonal garden, plant loads of tulips in it for Spring, then swap those out as they fade for something that will bloom after, and so on. Having it change all season will keep it fresh and exciting for you. 🙂

    • @GardenHappy
      @GardenHappy  3 місяці тому +1

      Good morning Pam thank you for taking the time to comment. Yes I agree when I watch your channel U2 are a fan of those wave petunias. They are absolutely the best and I think they are more colorful too. I love your idea of planting seasonal flowers in the barrel. That is so awesome. I would never think to put tulips or daffodils in there, but that is an outstanding idea. I noticed that you also grow Gaura and yours looks just like mine right now. Always fun to watch your videos and compare things that are growing in my garden too. Thanks again for the seasonal barrel suggestion! 👍❤️🥰Liz

    Hi Liz everything looks so charming and welcoming. So glad you made it through the heat wave.
    I love the rusty gas can it's an awesome blast from the past. In rust we must trust.
    Those vinca are delightful and really a tough performer in the garden. They seem to be comfortable in the antique tub.
    Those tubs are the bomb what a great garden item.
    I bought a vinca last summer and it grew great in a pot in my courtyard and we had a frost and I forgot to bring it in. Well I cut it down and voila it grew back and is thriving. I was at Star Nursery this morning a go figure they had vinca's on sale for .48 cents. I scooped up a bunch of them. Excited to get planting, Keeping on gardening and have a blessed Funday Sunday.

      Hello there Kelly and thank you so much for an awesome comment. I love reading your messages and fun choice of words. That is so awesome. You have good luck with yourVinca too. I think the Vinca is such an underrated plant and I don’t see too many gardeners showing it on their channels. Perhaps we got very lucky with our locations and the vinca seems to be thriving for you as well. But again I don’t hear of too many other gardeners talking about it. I agree that Rusty can is definitely a blast from the past and some things fun I will be enjoying for many years to come. I think this year instead of pulling my van out of the ground I will just cut it way back during winter, maybe in spring. It will come back from the roots. I will definitely try that this year. Thanks for letting me know your experiences. Hope you have a fun Sunday as well Kelly! 👍❤️🥰Liz

    Good morning Liz, goodness your garden looks so beautiful. Your vinca is especially gorgeous. It’s my favorite too! I used to grow azaleas and hydrangeas successfully when I lived in Seattle. Since moving to Tucson I’ve tried and failed with those two and other favorites. But my roses, hibiscus and plumeria are thrilling me now. Thanks for a lovely garden tour.

      Good morning Barbara that’s good to know about your azaleas and hydrangeas not doing so well. Sorry they did not perform well for you in Arizona, but it helps me understand things more. I suppose they just don’t like the heat. I think I’m going to rip mine out. They’re taking up space without any rewards. Maybe I will try the hibiscus. Im always always scared to give that a try but since it grows so well for you, I think I might give that a try. They are selling those right now at Home Depot and they look beautiful. Do you keep your hibiscus in full sun or do you give it a little afternoon, relief? 🥰👍❤️ thanks for taking the time to comment. Liz

    Είναι θαυμάσιο το πόσο ζωντανά διατηρούνται τα φυτά σου παρόλο που κάνει τόση ζέστη!!! Τα λίγα λουλούδια που χωράνε στο μικρό μπαλκόνι μου, εδώ στην Αθήνα, δείχνουν να υποφέρουν κάπως από την μεγάλη και παρατεταμένη ζέστη που έχουμε εδώ. Αυτό που συμβαίνει φέτος, όχι μόνο εδώ, αλλά σε όλο το βόρειο ημισφαίριο, νομίζω πως δεν έχει ξανασυμβεί. Βλέπω τον κήπο σου και νιώθω μια ανάσα δροσιάς και μια αγαλλίαση στην ψυχή μου!😌😌😌 Να είσαι πάντα καλά!!!💕💕💕💕

All part of God‘s plan I suppose. I hope you are blessed with cooler weather soon, my friend. Hugs and kisses from California to Athens, Greece! ❤️👍🥰🙏😇Liz

    Hi Liz your garden looks so beautiful. Unfortunately my garden didn't survive the Las Vegas heat waves of nearly 120. Alot of my plants died and its looking so dry in my patio. Gonna put some more plants in but more desert type heat loving plants. TFS with us.

      Hello IrisFlentroy… so sorry to hear your plants did not survive the heat wave. It was a hot one this year that’s for sure. I can’t even imagine what you went through in Las Vegas. I think it’s a great idea that you’re going to replace some plants with some heat, loving desert plants that will thrive in your area and conditions. some of those agaves and Yuka’s are so beautiful. The foliage are so colorful. I planted more heat tolerant plants in my garden after the heat wave as well. Thank you for taking the time to comment.❤️🥰👍Liz

    I would take the plumbago out of the container and divide it up into several plants. You have probably divided other plants. Azaleas need an acid soil so you might want to change out the soil it is in and put it into this type for it to thrive.

    • @GardenHappy
      @GardenHappy  3 місяці тому +1

      Thank you so much silverdawnfox that is a GREAT idea. . . . the problem with keeping the plumbago is I don't have any space in my garden to accommodate it's size. The creeping jenny does it require being rooted first or can you literally break off a piece and just put it in dirt?

    • @GardenHappy
      @GardenHappy  3 місяці тому +1

      Hi Karen, thank you for taking the time to comment. I am very selective when I takeoff my pieces of creeping Jenny and stick them in the dirt. No, I do not root them first, however, the little pieces I pick usually do have a small roots on them. When creeping Jenny creeps it naturally wants to root in the ground so you’ll notice the parts toward the end already start making roots, and those are the parts that I snip off. Also, if you take pieces from the base of the plant that are already in the dirt and pull those out a lot of those have roots already. So in conclusion, the pieces I snip off, usually do have roots on them already established even if they are small, you only need a few. I hope that helps. 👍❤️🥰Liz
