For pancakes, I melt butter in the pan after the cake is cooked so that I can set the cake down in an even layer of butter, then set the other side of the cake on a plate that has maple syrup on it. It makes for an even distribution of butter and syrup over the entire pancake.

As for the use of baking soda to remove coffee stains, I remember using it to clean thermos flasks back when I worked in commercial kitchens. We simply poured in baking soda and then boiling/hot water, let it sit for a short while and finally rinsed the thermos out with clean water.
Did wonders (damn there was a lot of coffee gunk in some of those thermoses) for the taste of the coffee being kept in those thermos flasks afterwards.

I tried to reproduce what I remember, and cannot. I will give this a try. Do you think I can use avocado oil? I don’t consume canola oil because it’s unhealthy. Very close to mine, except I put a tblsp of cinnamon, a tsp vanilla, and a tsp of almond extract into the batter. Sometimes I'll add 1/2 a tsp of nutmeg into the batter as well. I'll use buttermilk when I think to buy any., sometimes, for flavored pancakes I'll replace some of the milk, the cinnamon, and almond extract with a flavored yogurt. I also make a chocolate gravy for my pancakes for "special occasions", like it's a Tuesday, or family is visiting :)

I add up to one cup okara for every 2 cups of flour in a pancake recipe. My family loves them. My husband said they were the best pancakes ever.
So, if you make your own soy milk, or tofu, the leftover okara can add an amazing lightness to pancakes. We all thought it would make them heavier, but you don't notice the okara, just a good pancake. You can add it to a pancake mix, too.
    Blessed be, everyone.

my favorite way to make scrambled eggs is what I call country scrambled - into the pan where I've cooked the bacon with all the brown bits still in there but I've poured off most of the fat, I just crack the two eggs, lil salt and pepper and immediately start stirring so you get little bits of white, little bits of yolk, cook and stir til just set and serve with hot sauce. yum!

Ever since my Grandma left me her BH&G cookbook back in the early 90s, I have not used a boxed pancake mix. This pancake recipe is similar to my grandma’s, and my two daughters and my friends have asked me for the recipe, which I’m happy to share as the recipe is perfect. My bff/roommate will buy box mix and I’ll find it months later with mealy bugs in it. The scrambled eggs look like they’re raw, and my eggs have to be firm. Besides the pancake being set, another tip for knowing when to flip the pancakes is that a pancake has little air bubbles that will appear to be ready to pop. My bff/roommate will buy box mix and I’ll find it months later with mealy bugs in it.

If you use buttermilk, it reacts with the baking soda so the sitting time may give different result. The basic rule (I think) with buttermilk + baking soda is when they mixed together they start to make carbon dioxide bubbles right away so you should bake the batter as soon as it's mixed. But it's worth trying.

Terri Z just think of it this way. The eggs are fully cooked. They aren’t like the quick scrambled eggs that you either like to have very done or dry OR the soft scrambled eggs, my mother made to taste amazing. The French remember, take the time to do things slowly and deliberately. They wouldn’t think of dry scrambled eggs but they would think of cooking them thoroughly with a luxurious finish. You really might like them if you just take what you know about eggs and relearn the French way... don’t be 🐓 try the French Scrambled Eggs. It’s ok to like the old and the new way of doing a thing. 💗😄

I have made butter eggs which isn't about butter. You scramble them over a double boiler slowly and you can leave the room and check on them and do other things. They come out looking like these eggs and they are the best scrambled eggs I have ever had in my life! Now I'm going to try this.

In "Home Cooking: A Writer in the Kitchen," Laurie Colwin's recipe for these sort of eggs is to "stir as in a boiled custard until you think that your arm is going to fall off or until you feel you are about to start to scream uncontrollably," or words to that effect.

Clicked to watch how to make these eggs, they seem more runny, but probably because of no creme fresh or butter to ease the color. I wanted to learn how to make these eggs because I saw Gordon Ramsay make similar eggs, looked good, but with a ton of creme fresh and a ton of butter. Thanks ATK!

Why does everyone hate on turkey bacon? I like Turkey Bacon, I like it's flavor and it's chew. It's not a replacement for reg. Bacon to be sure, but it's good as it's own thing.

Oh yes, just made this for breakfast this Sunday morning. Absolutely delicious. I skipped the syrup and added a small handful of mini chocolate chips. My son had his pancakes with syrup. We both really enjoyed them. I also made an extra batch of dry ingredients for next time I want them, which will be again very soon. I'm on the lookout for a nice homemade swedish crepe recipe if anyone has one to share.... Thank you

Oscar Meyer turkey bacon is the winner in my house. We bake it until it turns from pale to a deeper color and then the secret to crisp it is about a minute in the microwave (1600 watts) for 4 peices. Adjust time to the amount and wattage of your microwave.

You all are making me hungry cooking all the breakfast and it is dinner time here too. I love the pancakes you made, Julia and they remind me of the ones at McDonald's. The turkey bacon don't look that great to me and I love pork instead and always have. The ones you all have here is great looking and must be very tasty though. Those scrambled eggs are looking so delicious too and that is a perfect breakfast with this cooked together and the only thing which would be great with this is some hash browned potatoes.
