Another great video from Everest! Heat in indoor gardens is #1 source of crop failure, I believe switching to LED is the best way to lower any grow room temperature. Yes, some LED arrays pump out a lot of heat also but not Infared or UV in the harmful quantities of HPS. Our 7000+ watt MCOB LED grow room did not need any AC, hood ducting, chillers or room fans, just great air exchange.
Robbie Dang Hi Robbie. Thanks for your comment and positivity! :) HPS puts out a fair bit of IR but next to no UV. Actually UV-A and UV-B can be useful for protection from pests, pathogens and powdery mildew-and it stimulates essential oil production is some herbaceous species such as mint and basil. But, like I said, HPS doesn't have any! Lol. I'm really, really interested to get growing with LEDs in my next phase. (Just planning that now, out with the old and in with the new!) Oscillating fans inside a grow room are important no matter what type of lighting you are using. Great that you didn't have to spend money and energy on additional cooling. I guess your grow room is well-insulated (underground?) - whereabouts are you based? Thanks again for chiming in. Great to have your input. Peace and happy growing, Everest.
Thanks Everest. We are growing up in Vancouver, Canada and we face humidity and overheating issues all the time, just like you. My company is Growthstar Technologies, leader in MCOB Horticultural Lights. If you would be interested in some testing units, please just let me know and i will be happy to 'Hook you up', you will be amazed with the results and I cant think of a better reviewer than you! www.growthstartech.com robiedang@gmail.com
Robbie Dang Thanks Robbie! I checked out your company website and online store. I used to live in Vancouver so I know the city fairly well. I miss being able to whizz up to the mountains for a weekend's snowboarding (aka "extreme zigzagging"). I'll be in touch. Thanks.
MookieSynkk Thanks Mookie. I appreciate you subbing the channel last October and staying with me since! We have so much planned, it's going to be quite a trip. Just you wait! :) In the meantime, thanks for the positivity! Peace, Everest.
My room is always 100+F ( 93F outside) Kelp, silica sand and water/nutrient tray under the pots help keep the plants growing in extreme heat. Using smaller LED lights 2×30watt and 2×17 watts are lighting a 600mm×90mm room. I don't even have a fan so far. The led lights are fantastic, far better than any Lighting I have grown with in 33 years of indoor growing. Thanks for the video.
+Heardphin Thanks amigo - I'm actually pretty stoked to have this many subs already. Any more with certainly be welcome though! I love making these vids almost as much as I love growing the plants that star in them! Lol.
I usually watch all videos at 1.75x however this one was different. Crazy setup. My nft reservoir is getting too warm summer is here and it's outdoors. I'm gonna clad it or bury it.
what is the best option for cooling an indoor hydroponic farm, Air conditioning or Evaporative cooling or water Chiller with exhaust fans? Living in a country with %81 RH and temp is 33C. which option is the most efficient and less cost on the electricity bill?
I have my grow tent in my garage and it gets pretty hot in there. Can I just cool the inside of the grow tent instead of the whole garage? Would I use some sort of small air conditioner? It can get pretty hot in there, around 90-100 F
The only thing here that might apply to my situation is an expensive chiller. Before I go down that road, I'll bury my entire friggan system in the ground. Which you did mention at the end of the video but I was hoping to avoid doing that if possible. All 4 of my RDWC buckets are well insulated and reflective, including the rez but the temps still get up to 23C despite my best efforts! Very frustrating. I've heard of growers that are desperate enough to use ice water bottles in the rez to chill their systems down but that doesn't sound very fun having to freeze and change bottles every day.
Whats your opinion of dropping frozen water bottles into the reservoir? I'm growing here in the hot dry Arizona desert and with constant subbing water bottles I can manage to get my water temperature down to 77 degrees.
HIGH EVEREST..JUST A FEW QUESTIONS ,HOPE YOU CAN HELP I RUN A 1mx1m , 3X3 FEET TENT ... MY HUMIDITY IS HOVERING AROUND 50% AND TEMP IS AT 78-80F WHEN LIGHTS ARE RUNNING ..DURING THE NIGHT (LIGHTS OFF) ITS 71F AND 20% HUMIDITY IS THIS OK ?? I RUN X3 130W CFL LIGHTS ALSO HAVE A SMALL FAN BRINGING AIR IN FROM OUT SIDE THE ROOM ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED PS IM ON A TIGHT BUDGET :) KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK
+setdead666 Hello my friend. Thanks for your questions. I'm a bit puzzled. You say your daytime temps are 78 - 80F and your nighttime temps are 71F - but your (relative) humidity goes from 50% in the day to 20% at night??? That just doesn't make sense. With falling temperatures your relative humidity will go up, always. How are your plants looking? Always happy to help! :)
rite now its at 75.2 inside the tend and 71.4 on the canopy and humidity is at 35-37% last night it was 63.1 @ 35% also??? plants are looking good they look healthy but a little light green ?? im not using much nutes atm as there only a few weeks old , im growing in coco with growstones/air stones .. thx for your help much appreciated ..
+setdead666 Hello and my friend. What is the starting EC (mS) or TDS (PPMs) of your water and also for the nutrient solution you are feeding your plants? If your plants are still small, have you considered a humidity dome to try and raise up the RH a bit?
Love the channel and videos! Nice to see some else excited besides me about going plants in general, keep up you awesome work...and I'm now a ebb & flow guy lol
Daniel Witzel Thanks Daniel. I LOVE ebb and flow. It's the system that just keeps going. It never seems to break down or get clogged. Ebb and flow keeps things super simple and plants just love the 'security' that timers and pumps provide! :) Glad you share my excitement and passion for plants! Thanks for subscribing earlier this month too. I really appreciate it!
If you get a Dyson fan it helps track and cool or heat your grow room depending on which unit you get and also it has a phone app you can use anywhere if your home had wifi
i do not agree with the 2nd point. with an airpump and/or bubbler the water only gets enriched with o2 when the bubble pops on the surface. wouldnt it be better to create sort of a miniature waterfall? correct me if im wrong!
Based on how fast he talks, the description should be: Problemswithexcessheatinyourindoorgarden?Herearetenwaystocombathightemperaturesinyourgrowroomalongwithanalysisoftheproblemshotweatherconditionscancause-includingplantswilting,poorresinproductionandessentialoils,transpirationstressandstretch/stretching. :)
So a little advice if you're stressed for time! No need to talk fast make two videos because you have great knowledge. Thanks for the video gonna watch it again in slow mo though lol
could you do a video on nutrient alternatives to general hydroponics? Not that I have a problem with them, just curious about other nutrient solutions (especially in a DWC setup). I'm new to hydroponics however very interested and have watched many of your videos for info. Also curious about the rocket plasma, however not much has been shared online! Thanks Everest! Your videos rock!
what to do if my room temp is 29-33c in my room in summer? :D i have just small room plants but in 1 week then went from looking nice to looking like they are to hot all the time (i cant lover room temp :( . )
Wow, everyone seems to have there own way of doing things , I hear some people talk and I don't know if there bullshitting me or them self's or what ,I've been growing for 12 years and if I try to cut a corner or do something I'm not sure of I end up paying for it in the end ,find what works and use it nuff said
+Hawk Man Thanks Hawk Man. I'm a bit of a gadget freak I'll admit it. My wish list seems to grow by the day so I imagine you're going to see more and more crafty little meters and so on in upcoming videos. Hope you're subbed! :) Peace.
That tip about giving less nutrients is a great idea.... I dind't even think of this.... you could burn your plant with normal feeding if that feeding is being taken up too quickly.... it's so obvious.
upplsuckimcool16 Thanks man. Tweaking nutrient concentration to match temperature and light levels is standard practice among commercial greenhouse hydroponic growers. Hobby growers would do well to make friends with them and ask LOTS of questions! :)
i had a question about the air stones. Is there a time when i shouldnt use them. for instance my water is at 80 degrees and the air temp is above 90 degrees. would blowing the hot air through the water increase my water temp. or is the air being added to the water more important?
Not all people watching this are potheads, I'm one too but I can still keep up with his tips.🤣 😂 LMAO So, without further ado, I'll Just say what Godz alwayz sayz .. Peace, Love and Hippie Beadz 🔥🌲☮️💚😎
Usually low humidity is just a problem at the beginning of the grow phase when plants aren't transpiring too much. You can supplement humidity with a humidifier (like I do because I live in an arid climate) or leave trays of water on the floor. Another way of dealing with low humidity and high temperatures is to lower your nutrient concentration.
Get a cooler and fill it with ice water. Put a pump in the cooler that circulates the ice cold water through a stainless steel coil (wort chiller). Put the coil in your rez. You could put the pump on a thermostat so your rez water doesn't get too cold.
those who need to press repeat can do so better than letting the whole world wait around the first time. I appreciate the speed as we all have work, education, plants and, shit, smoking to get to.
That idea of keeping it light at night and dark during the day is an awesomely simple but effective idea. But considering the amount of expense and living space this guy's setup require makes me think maybe he's growing more than just tomatoes. Unless he really, really likes tomatoes.
I'm not going to argue with that--damn stuff doesn't go as far as it did but that's just inflation--a byproduct of our music chairs monetary system. :)
Jeez Everest! Could you cram any more information into that video?! Another fantastic video as always mate! Super useful for the hotter weather we're about to get!
progrowuk Yeah that was an action-packed five minutes! Glad you enjoyed it! I hear there's an interesting product available in the UK called "Liquid Ice" by Evoponics. Have you tried it?
I agree you talk really fast, you can talk a bit slower which will make watching your videos longer and make you more $$$ plus the added benefit of me actually wanting to continue watching your videos.
you do realize that the controller you are showing is like 1000 dollars what viewer base are you trying to reach and not to mention the systems that go with that are even more money
it's 30 - 45 (86F - 113F) currently here in the middle east and dedicating a room with AC to cool these plant is more costly than buying premium vegetables from the store don't why I thought I'll find an easy solution :D
ok if you're growing cannabis don't do the humidity thing to lower temp during flower. First of all mold could be a prob, SECOND, a low relative humidity is one of two external factors in trichome density. Low humidity, and high elevation. People on sea level can't help the elevation, but the low humidity is easy. I know a guy who had 16 % relative humidity at the last stages of flower.... just because of circumstance....... and his bud was some of the most crystally and best bbud I've smoked. Later on I read a few papers by a scientist from the 80's (can't rememebr his name) who did many many experiments involvign trichome production in cannabis, and found that genetics are the largest factor........ but you can increase density by increasing elevation..... and lowering humidity. So sometimes circumstance works out well xD
upplsuckimcool16 HOWEVER, that's not to say I know if there is a point of being TOO low in humididty or TOO hgih in elevation...... I did not read the entire paper.
upplsuckimcool16 As someone who is interested in growing all plants, your point about elevation is particularly interesting to me. Obviously I don't have a giant glass elevator to whizz my grow room into the sky (but wow, that would be awesome!) but I say I don't need to. I just need to recreate the environmental factors (or side-effects) of being at that elevation in order to mimic my chosen specie's native conditions. Many plant species have adapted to exploit the harsher environment at altitude-lower temperatures, thinner air, less humidity, less atmospheric protection >> more ultraviolet radiation. UV-B, especially, can cause cell damage to plants which is why some species produce UV-resistant essential oils. If I were growing flowering plants native, say, to the sub-tropics at elevations of 1000m or more, I would definitely supplement my HPS grow lights with another light source that was capable of producing more UV (HPS produces nothing, or virtually nothing, in the UV range.). Metal Halide lamps, especially those rated at 10,000 Kelvin or more-sometimes known as "finisher lamps"-produce significant amounts of UV, as do LEP full spectrum and supplemental lamps-also EYE Hortilux recently released their PowerVeg T5s with additional UV. My recommendation: if you are planning to incorporate UV into your plants' photon diet during the latter part of the lifecycle, use it at the beginning too so they get acclimatized. Hey uppsuck, are you subbed to my channel ? because you really should be! :) PEACE, Everest.
the only channel you don't need to play at 1.25, cheers mate!
You're welcome, Hugo. No three minute intros punctuated with "Wivvout furver ado..." :) Ahhhhh ... so refreshing!

My garage is super hot and it makes the tent like 100deg if I run hydro and keep my water cool I can grow in 100deg temp?
Dude gave me all the needed info to grow in Arizona’s heat!
You a pro, Everest. Thanks for the info, keep doing what you're doing.

A great video to review. Temps here in socal are up over 100° for 2 weeks straight now. Thanks again Everest!
Whoa-that's hot! Be sure to check out my AC sizing video too ;-)
SAAME 100F everyday i try my best to cool it down to 90F but cant get lower. too damn hot out here folks!
P.S. thats in my house not outside...

Good job🤗😉
Your videos are awesome and very helpful but PLEASE slow it down a bit.
Thanks.

Bill G bill gates! whats up ?
Put your air pump outside your grow tent if the outside air is indeed cooler than inside it should help a degree or two, for hydro that is.
Truly ,great advice. Thanks
Got about 30 seconds in, slow it down, its not a race. Moving on!
SQWIB come back buddy, you can actually turn the speed down in playback settings.
Thank you bud I needed professionnal advices, you help me a lot :)
Adam Vaillancourt You're welcome Adam-glad to be of help! Thanks for subscribing already :)
Always been a fan of your videos man, great production quality. Question: What editing software do you use?
Let's Grow Some Ganja Thanks amigo. I use Premiere.
Thank you! Keep up the good work.
slow it down, I just dissed you... nah but for real slow it down because people watching this video smoke Weed, not Molly. chill out but good video.
its better fast than really slow where you have to skip the vid to get to what you need then miss stuff. he makes you have to pause which is nice. :)
those who need to press repeat can do so better than letting the whole world wait around the first time. I appreciate the speed as we all have work, education, plants and, shit, smoking to get to.
repeat several times guy speaks way too bloody fast
same as me
Use the youtube speed control for slower playback
That idea of keeping it light at night and dark during the day is an awesomely simple but effective idea.
But considering the amount of expense and living space this guy's setup require makes me think maybe he's growing more than just tomatoes.
Unless he really, really likes tomatoes.
GIVE THIS MAN MORE MONEY!
I'm not going to argue with that--damn stuff doesn't go as far as it did but that's just inflation--a byproduct of our music chairs monetary system. :)
"basically, it's a major bummer" well said.
Great video, but you should slow down. Crazy fast speech
Never slow it down!!! The slow stoners can replay as much as they like :) keep filling my head with knowledge good Sir🤗 your the best👊🏼

great advice man. hard to find these daze. peace i subbed

Thanks for your feedback, Michelle, I appreciate it.
you do realize that the controller you are showing is like 1000 dollars what viewer base are you trying to reach and not to mention the systems that go with that are even more money

@@Just4Growers Yes!
or... switch to led bcuz temps are only a problem with hps.
Fucking killed the video man 👍
I woild watch more of your vids but one is enough after hitting pause and rewind like 30 times. When you write a book let me know
Don't slow down at all I like getting a lot of information in a short period of time
Nah don't slow it down, your one of the only youtubers I don't watch at 1.25x
Thanks amigo. No chance of me ever slowing down. #futureproof
Lol is like debating u gotta say so much in so little time i respect that too dn want to waste 10 mints to know everything
awesome.
+OneOriginalName Thanks :)
All of that setup that you have is way too expensive for some vegetables. I'm sure you must be growing some good buds LOL
it's 30 - 45 (86F - 113F) currently here in the middle east and dedicating a room with AC to cool these plant is more costly than buying premium vegetables from the store
don't why I thought I'll find an easy solution :D
i prefer this fast talkin a lot more than 9 minutes of fluff talk and 1 minute of info that sounds still like normally speaken at 1.5x tempo yters
If you use co2 you can get your room temperature up to 80/85 !
AWESOME!!! Love it!
+Chris Holwell Thanks Chris.
Dude chill!
MOAR COFFFFEEEEEEE
use air conditioner co2_1800 ppm
I wouldn’t mind one of those environmental controllers
I didn't catch a word this dude said... stoped it at 20 seconds in because he was doing my fucking head in

not 40 humidity when vegging only flower 50 down to 40
ok if you're growing cannabis don't do the humidity thing to lower temp during flower.
Sounds like you had too many cups of coffee this morning!!
So did you make it to the fire? Holy fuck. You might want to back that dose up by ohh I don't know half?
Talk slowly... No one is chasing you
are we just going to ignore that dudes nail?
Yep - move right along. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. Do not visit the nail salon.
Nice Video but rly Speed talk... i have rly problem to understand all what you say so speede... but yeah i love the video
