i you for this, i could not, for the life of me, find a tutorial on anchoring. ended up finding someone at a festival, stilll didnt really get it (since i was frying) but once i did finaly get it, i love it so much, #longstringforlife
Thank you so so so much. I just started using a flow wand, and I grew tired of the short string really fast. So I'm grateful that you shared this video and helped me reach the next level
this was so helpful! oh my gosh, i tried a long string a while back but with no success i kept practicing and practicing but the more i did the worse it got. this makes so much more sense
Thank you so much! This is indeed a great start as I have been struggling with my long string for a while. And yes, it has been a big jump from short to long but people like you makes it very easy! I can't wait to practice! :)
hi! im form Argentina! Thank you for this tutorial, you did it very well, I have seen many tutorials but definitely I stay with this. pd.: you are beautifulllllllllll jajaaja
Awesome tutorial! I'm a novice wander, I just recently felt comfortable with the short string (then it broke :)) So, I decided to just go for the long. But, I'm struggling keeping my wand upright...It's a cheaper wand. I bought it off amazon from Emazing Lights. I just bought a nicer one and it will arrive this week! YAY! Do you think this could be the reason why? Or is there a very common "rookie" mistake I'm doing that's making my wand wobbly? :) You rock. Thanks for spreading the love of flow!
Hi Carla! Congrats on the new wand, I hope you love it. In my experience, lighter wands, especially for long string, tend to get off balance a little bit easier just because there isn't much weight to them and they will show "jerky" movements more. I recently bought the contact wand from Flow Toys and it's a bit heavier, but it does stay balanced better. For the tangling, that's where balancing out the movement directions is important. I keep getting asked for more tutorials so now that I have another wand, I will have to put one together, but basically you want to make sure you "unwind" your string too by doing the reverse of some of the movements you do that tangle it. If you balance your movements out that way, it will help keep the wand untangled. Another option is to have a swivel somewhere in the rope, likely closer to the wand, to help keep it from getting so tangled. I just recommend to keep playing around until you find what works best for you. Happy flowing!
+Vítězslav Ferko (Qwerty) There is a big jump between long string and short string, but if you are much more motivated to do long string, I would start with that. Your motivation will carry you though. You can always wrap the long string around your hand too and practice as if it is a short string to get the movement down. Good luck! :D
Hello Lindsey, add to poi I found the flow wand also to play for me after looking some vids and thinking Oh my god, how it work this?????? Now I see your wand and want ask have you any knots or ?swivels? in the line? I had one after 30cm and took it away, but now my wand kicks a lot with the top in front the way I move it... I m frustrated a little. thaks for your vids you look realy good and dancing is very cool
No swivels, only a knot to close it. It does get tangled easily but that's part of the balance of flowing with it, you have to make sure you go both directions. Thank you for the kind words!
thank you! this one is the atomic wand by astral hoops. it's $200 but you can get $15 off or so with some coupons around the internet. it's an LED wand, so that's why it costs so much. you can also get pretty daytime flow wands from flowtoys for $20. i recommend both companies!
Hi Lindsey! I've practicing short string flow wand for a while, but somehow it's getting boring, since there is not much to do with a short string! I'm starting with a long string now, and your video is very helpful! I wanted to ask you something.. In many websites they say that the lengh of a long string is supposed to be 9 foot, about 3 meters. Which is very long! Would you advise to practice with shorter string before, and slowly make it longer? And where did you get you very cool wand? ;) Thanks!
+kaly pso Thank you! I'd say if you are pretty comfortable with short string, just make the jump. You'll notice that long string will feel weird no matter how long it is and just takes time to get used to. I find it hard to do a shoulder anchor properly with string shorter than my current set up, but that all depends on what you want to do and how you want to accomplish it. I suggest in the video using tape or something else to make the string shorter temporarily, that way you can mess around with the length and not worry about undoing a knot. Maybe try that out until you figure out what you like best? I am not sure how long mine is exactly, but I know it's my wingspan plus 6 inches or so. The best thing I can advise is just to experiment!
+Lindsey Enders Thanks for you reply. I tried to start with 9 foot, but it feels way too much, I don't know what to do with all this string messing around my arms! ;) (but very funy moment though!!) so I better start with shorter, I made it the same length then you, more or less, and I feel much more confortable, and I can start playing with the wand pretty easily. I'm very excited about learning new tricks. I might ask you more advice later. keep flowing!!
kaly pso They are great for LED performance, but the balance is kind of off. I am not sure how the newer ones are. For a hybrid wand that can be used day and night, I recommend checking our hoopyfrood! I have one of hers and they are great. You don't need a crazy expensive wand to get going, just something with long string on it.
Definitely wise to start with the short string. You'll learn how to move with the wand and how to stay out of your own way with it to keep it going. It's a big jump to go from short string to long string because your other hand actually plays a role in controlling the wand with the long string, so then you have two hands working together trying to stay out of the way, and that can get confusing! So definitely easier with short string because of one hand first!
at the moment im using a gora fire wand, but dont know where to get a string long enough for long stringing, the wand i use now has a steel string, im guessing i will need a longer steel wire?
Excellent tutorial! Thanks a ton!
i you for this, i could not, for the life of me, find a tutorial on anchoring. ended up finding someone at a festival, stilll didnt really get it (since i was frying) but once i did finaly get it, i love it so much, #longstringforlife

My wand strings seems to be tangling a lot too. I'm guessing this doesn't help the wobbling...any tips on how to help this?

Thank you for the tips! I will definitely be putting those into practice :) Please make more videos! I've enjoyed watching the one you have currently.
I really like the long string wand, but should I start with short string first? I haven't done this before.

can you do more with this type?
Hello Lindsey, add to poi I found the flow wand also to play for me after looking some vids and thinking Oh my god, how it work this?????? Do you know how to do the trigger finger control
How do you anker long string by putting yourself in the string
Wich type of string do you use?!
thanks a lot amazing tutorial
I am sorry, I just saw this video. The string came with the wand. I believe astral hoops sells extra on their site.
omg this is great, may i ask where did you get your flow wand? and how much did it cost? i want one so badly!

How are the rolls done
Hi Lindsey! I've practicing short string flow wand for a while, but somehow it's getting boring, since there is not much to do with a short string! +kaly pso Also, the wand is from Astral Hoops. It is called an Atomic Wand!
+Lindsey Enders Thanks for you reply. I tried to start with 9 foot, but it feels way too much, I don't know what to do with all this string messing around my arms! ;) (but very funy moment though!!)

+Lindsey Enders It's awesome, but pretty expensive.. I'll wait to get better to get one of those.. Are they good quality??
kaly pso They are great for LED performance, but the balance is kind of off. I am not sure how the newer ones are. I'm just starting to learn how to flow wand would it have been better to start with a long string or was I wise in starting with the short
Do you hook your thumbs through the two strings or by the 2 strinhs
Your shoulder goes through the two strings, and then the strands go together around your neck to your hands and such
can you do long stringing with a fire flow wand or just the normal short string type?
+resale roadie You can do fire wand with any string length :] Just depends on what you want to do and what you are comfortable with!
at the moment im using a gora fire wand, but dont know where to get a string long enough for long stringing, the wand i use now has a steel string, im guessing i will need a longer steel wire?
i dont think i have seen longstringing on fire, i have only ever seen longstringing with a nylon string if that makes sense
I got this recommended today and literally thought it was written Lindsey Stirling
thank sexy girl, very usual tutorial
