Looking forward to a virtual golden shower of content.
If I begin getting interesting 'suggestions' from UA-cam, I'm entirely blaming you.

J.S. Bach, “Die Kapellmeister,” also peed a lot! 😂

Thanks for "peeing us" with the knowledge you have accumulated over the years. I will be waiting for the promised series of videos about using Obsidian for research. Sending hugs from Chile!

Thanks for the comment, Fabian, and good to hear from you again. Chile is a country I have seen from across the border but not yet visited.

Chris Aldrich, Andrew Huberman, and maybe a reference to Cal Newport's quote "What amateurs call writer's block, professional writers just call writing". Good grief, man, are you trying to induce some sort of nerd swoon tsunami? Several of my favorite people to read/listen to…
In all seriousness, I enjoyed this immensely and hope that you do carve out one or two videos sharing your thoughts for how an analog slipbox might be used in an integrated way with a more efficient, shorter-term, project-focused style of digital note-taking.
In my work with the analog slipbox, I've found that it does a great job helping me to identify areas of emerging expertise where I might actually have something interesting to say. In my role, these would likely be internal conversations or faculty development resources / workshops. As I believe Nicholas Gatien mentioned in one of those Antinet Book Club sessions, the experience of handling the cards is a much richer memory experience (for me) than reviewing digital notes in LogSeq (my TfT of choice).
But what I'm still wondering about is whether there's a sort of inflection point where the work becomes more top-down than bottom-up, and the advantages of a lighter weight, more portable, more frictionless writing process begin to outweigh the (albeit highly subjective for me) benefits of analog. I've tried before to generate a "Project Zettelkasten" once I feel I reach this point, but there's something about simply replicating my analog practice digitally that feels lacking. My hope is that your future videos on your relevance tagging workflow give me something to try out when the vision of the project is coalescing and speed (as well as being able to access from campus or from home) is more important.
It feels like it would be onerous to maintain both at once, but I could see a sort of focused switch to project-oriented digital notes (with an assist from the slipbox) and then a re-integration of the most salient ideas from the project into the analog realm once the project was winding down.
Thanks for the Must Pee TV...I'll see myself out...

Thank you for your comments, Zach (and sorry for taking several days to respond). I'm especially interested in the "inflection point" you speak of and would encourage anyone who happens to read this AND who has, say, more than a year or two of experience working with a Zettelkasten-I would encourage them to weigh in.
As for maintaining both an analog Zettelkasten AND notes in something like Logseq or Obsidian, I have so far not found it to be onerous. Let me revise that: initially it definitely was onerous, but that's because in the digital duplicate of my analog Zettelkasten (in Obsidian, along with other notes) I was trying to add a whole bunch of information, links, etc. but eventually decided adding all that extra stuff just wasn't worth it.
Thanks again for the comments. Much appreciated.

@@forrestrperry No apology necessary, FP! Thank you for the time and good humor you put into this excellent (and free!) content. That's interesting (and makes sense) about you eventually arriving at a sort of "minimum viable product" version of the digital Zettelkasten. I've definitely been guilty of "majoring in the minor" with digital tools, but do still believe that the affordances of each medium might make them worth maintaining. If one can winnow their workflow down to that level of essential elements, then I feel like it opens the door to one of the most under-hyped benefits of doing all this (in any modality) - it's FUN.
And yes, I'd definitely be interested to hear from more experienced practitioners who either maintain dual slipboxes (or switch between them depending on the context / type of project).

Yup, that’s the plan. I had a video script ready weeks ago, only to realize I disliked how I was doing things in Obsidian (for like the thousandth time). But after a bout of illness, I am now looking forward to producing the next video.
