I agree that the battle between Ash Greninja vs Mega Sceptile was absolutely amazing. Overall its my top favorite battle of all series to date because of just the raw amount of hype, the appealing animation of the battle and the overall intensity it had.
It was great for the major battles (Ash Greninja vs Sceptile and Charizard) but outside of that the league seemed rather bland and every Pokemon seemed to be a glass cannon where they would battle for like 2 minutes then get one shot or a double K.O. It was a decent league but everything besides the battle against Mega Charizard and Mega Sceptile were highly forgettable
I did some research and this is how many trainers participated in Ash's Pokémon leagues KANTO - 256 Trainers JOHTO - 192 Trainers HOENN - 512 Trainers SINNOH - 256 Trainers UNOVA - 128 Trainers KALOS - 64 Trainers ALOLA - 151 Trainers
We were so hyped for Alain's Charizard because of how strong it was in the Kalos League just for it to get slapped by Leon in the Masters Tournament. Alain's victory aged really well.
@@spartanclaude7170 Honestly if they had done these side stories for all of Ash's main rivals throughout the regions I would have loved to see all of them especially the man himself Paul.

The same but with the Sinnoh League: Torkoal: I will show Darkrai some firepower Torkoal is defeated by one single Dark Pulse Darkrai: I'm unbeatable as always.
I don’t know how many people will be content with my idea for a Down To The Fiery Finish rewrite (one where Ashy Boy wins), but here it is: After seeing that in his current state, Pikachu cannot do much damage to Charizard, Ash decides to recall him. Alain also recalls Charizard, knowing Ash has a plan. Now then, the next bout then ends in Goodra’s victory, but Goodra instantly falls to Charizard right after. However, with the rain still up and Bisharp defeated, Greninja is more than ready to take on Charizard. This time around, Greninja manages to do much more damage to Charizard, to the point where he is unable to properly stand. But Charizard is still a bit stronger than Greninja and takes him down, like in canon. But with all the damage Charizard has taken, he can’t take another hit, and while he’s recharging from that super powerful Blast Burn that took down Greninja, Pikachu takes this chance to land the finishing Thunderbolt. So my version had Goodra do something, still convey Charizard’s power, still made Greninja look good and won Ash the Kalos League.
i like the filters you put over the video it's a nice effect, amazing content as always, hoping the youtube gods are kind to you and you don't get demonetized :(
I don’t know I don’t think it makes sense to me, Alain’s Charizard got defeated by an elite four while Ash’s Greninja is stronger than Diantha the Champion that is stronger than the elite four, it felt like a inconsistent power scaling that the writers pulled off
12:56 Your are right he did great at the Kalos league and he was able to win the Alola League, and is Now the First Ever Champion of Alola, can't wait for your review of the Alola League man
Erbby Saintvil I hate that out of all the leagues he could have won at..... he won the damn alola league. The league (timeline wise) is the newest out of all the leagues, meaning the first time he climbed the mountain it was on something that was just getting started. He couldn’t have won sinnoh or kalos, two leagues that have clearly been established as strong leagues with a rich history of great trainers emerging from said leagues.
@@draico4265 it was also an actual league unlike the orange league, and he finally won an official league so that's what matters. Yeah he should have won the kalos league considering he had a fully evolved team, he made it to the finals, and he was facing a rival he couldn't beat before, and yeah I was a bit mad at Ash losing here when I first saw this, but u gotta give the boi credit. The finals was the farthest he ever got before Alola and he beat his top 4 placement in Sinnoh so shouldn't we also b proud of Ash? Also, the exhibition match reveal for the Alola League was a bit of a giveaway since no one but Ash deserved to face the MR, torracat had a rivalry to settle, and there was no better place for Ash to have his rematch with the MR than the Alola League, so give this league a break. Ash won an actual league and he's a champ now. Nuff said
Not just that, but since alola also has no current champion, ash is also champion, of an Entire, Region! That's a bigger deal than just league champion

Everyone was betting on Ash finally becoming Champion...And then he loses. Even if he wins the Alola League, the salt from Kalos will still be there. Easily the most controversial battle in the series.
@@mawile2468 rain dance was still up when greninja and Charizard started to throw down tho. If greninja just landed a water shuriken in the rain it would have done quite a lot
Agreed. It and the penultimate episode of the season made me quit the anime for a few years, because it was clear the writers didn’t respect Ash or their fans.
I do remember the false advertising leading up to the Kalos League finale with the promos and ads on TV Tokyo misleading people into thinking that Ash is going to win against Alain and the fact that fans analyzed Ash and Alain's previous battles and stated that Ash's Greninja will win due to Ash mastering its power and the fact that fire types are weak against water types but Ash ended up losing again.
Kanto - He lost because of his disobedient Charizard and Team "I won't leave you alone" Johto - This loss didn't bug me Hoenn - This loss didn't bug me. What bugged me was the fact that Pikachu lost to a Meowth. Sinnoh - He lost because the writers thought it would be funny Unova - He lost to a trainer who forgot to bring a full team of 6 Kalos - He lost because the writers wanted to see their fans to their boiling point. Alola - I was very happy to see Ash finally win a league. I don't care what people thought about the final Counter in the battle. This is the anime, not the games. Suck it up.
I am really impress that Ash made it far to the runner up at the Kalos League Lumiose Conference, but still I really wishes that he used some of his old Pokemon to Swap like he did in the Johto league. Because using the same team over and over to the next round someone would seen his battle strategies and might used hit against him and that would be bad. Beside that some of his old Pokemon back at Professer Oak's Lab were absent during both the Pokemon Black and White series and Pokemon XY series too and never been seen again. I still think they should return to Ash's team so that they have time to be trained and evolved before the Kalos League Lumiose Conference that would be very interesting but sadly that never happen.
Levi Bentley Yeah, that ruined not just the league for me but all of XY. It ruined the anime as a whole for me too though I am considering watching Sun and Moon just for its league now.
Executive Meddling: Ash losing the Kalos League was the result of this. *Originally Ash was supposed to win the Kalos League, but the higher-ups ended up veto-ing it under the belief Ash winning the League would result in a drop in viewership since the Myth Arc would have finally been wrapped up.*
It is not like that, what happens is that the creator of pokemon xy wanted to end the pokemon anime because most people were already tired of seeing ash as the protagonist, but unfortunately he lost and continued pokemon sun and moon where he won just because in kalos had created a massive hatred
Kalos was literally the perfect moment for Ash to win. He was mature in Xy, showing that he grew up, which means that he should be elevated now, which means he should be in a higher place, a champion. Him being champ in SM is because of the backlash from XY. Pokemon anime is so flawed and shitty
Some people even stopped watching the anime because of the Kalos loss. They literally skipped the Team Flare arc, and at least to some extent, the Alola portion of the anime.
The writers really should’ve let Ash win this Pokémon League. He even promised his mother that he’d win it and he had such a type advantage over Mega Charizard X
11:05 - Yeah, about that, can someone care to defend to how the heck did Ash-Greninja blocks Mega Charizard X's Thunder Punch (Which is an electric type move) using Water Shuriken (A water type move). and yes I'm aware of the anime logic, but can this be defended?
A very rushed league indeed, but it gave us the best single-battling-episode ever, the first part of Ash vs Alain, showing Pikagod as the real Ash team's MVP, Hawlucha redeeming himself, the best aerial battle (a piece of art on animation) and action since the beginning. The defeat againts Alain was the power of script clearly and Goodra unfortunately sucked, even Noivern did it better on that powerfull dragon battle against Salamance.
I can imagine Zac going crazy because the episode before the beginning of the finals was gonna copy that Axew filler in Black and White, but Zac was relieved that Chepsin was found quickly.
I completely agree with your video!!! for my sinnoh is better! Just because they skip soooo many rounds in the kalos league... normally ash got to win like 5 battles to get to the semi-finals (or even more!) and now within 2 episode's he is already there like it's nothing!!! Also I never saw Sawyer als a real rivale... he only won from ash once by luck lol (still great semi-finale batlle though!)
Realistically if ash wanted to win: Pikachu vs Tyranitar Infernape vs Weavile Charizard vs Unfezant Charizard vs Metagross Charizard Ash vs Charizard Heracross vs Bisharp Greninja vs Charizard X
I like it when you mention "Satoshi-Gekkouga", refers to the original name I feel like Kalos League was rushed because the main focus was the final arc where the most epic battle in Pokémon anime (Satoshi's canon) franchise was ever happened, also looking back at how Satoshi-Gekkouga formed, somehow reminds me of similar phenomenon in different franchise Takato and Guilmon formed Dukemon, Golden Experience acquire the Requiem mode, Netto and RockMan.EXE formed a Fusion (forgot what it's called), even if in Alola he wins the battle, but his ace, Gekkouga, is still the best for me
The worst thing is that every time a new series starts Ash’s progress is basically wiped, he loses all his badass Pokémon from the previous generation and has to start from scratch.
So what you wanna just watch ashes first team which is basically just gen1 Pokémon start going through next however many generations and win all the leagues cause if that’s what you want then you won’t be getting any greninja or most of ashes other Pokémon from the whole series
The action in some of these episodes easily ranks some of the anime's best battle scenes which makes it all the more depressing that for all that effort and all that hype, they just couldn't bring themselves to break the mold and let Ash get the win he deserved. The league as a whole being so dang rushed is just a bucket of salt in the wound. I think with the start of XYZ the writers were starting to make a few fumbles for the sake of building up the final Flare arc but I think the would have been the perfect place to rectify all that. But in the end...they blew it. Such an incredible battle wasted in the sake of keeping the anime's most loathed tradition. I am sorry but I just can't be as kind to this league. It had easily some of the best fight scenes in the whole series but those don't rectify what rush job it was only to end in another L for Ash and completely throw all the build up they established not long prior. I could at least forgive Sinnoh cause Ash beat the key rival of that series before the anticlimax but here he doesn't get to win against Alain once so there's no satisfying resolution to an otherwise great battle. It just feels like one big, cruel tease of potential that didn't pan out. Oh well. It definitely still beats the atrocity of the Unova League. At least this battle was actually good. I just wish Kalos could actually break the mold like it was seemingly promising to do instead of replicating so many previous series' greatest mistakes.
The Ash vs Alain battle didn't even last 2 full episodes. Each match in the finals lasted like 3-5 minutes, which is way too little time for my liking.
Completely agree with your take on alain winning the league. At least we were able to see alain at least 10 episodes before the entire league even started. There were even short specials with alain and mairin to give back story of them and their relations with team flare so it actually gave them character compared to tobias in DP and cameron in BW.
@11:59 For this, I blame the 3D animation. It drives up the relative cost of making every minute of combat compared to if you are allowed to economize using cut-ins, fixed images or simpler 2D cheoreography. It subjects every combat to a more stringent cost-benefit analysis so only *necessary* combats are shown.
It is a very good league but I have complaints first is moivern and goodra doesn't win a single match second greninja movest seriously water shuriken, cut, aerial ace , double team it could have been better considering greninja in game moveset

I think I know why it was "rushed" it work like the FIFA 2018 World Cup round of 16 greninja vs altaria qtr final hawlucha vs absol then the semi finals the finals
@Jack Karkowsky he won 1 against Sawyer Doublade
U think Ash's loss to Alain wasn't great, the last two league losses were much worse
I agree that the battle between Ash Greninja vs Mega Sceptile was absolutely amazing. Overall its my top favorite battle of all series to date because of just the raw amount of hype, the appealing animation of the battle and the overall intensity it had.
9:52-10:08 my reaction to knowing we gotta go back to school soon.
Edit: This did not age well
Oh I don’t think so
This aged like fine milk
Damn coronavirus
The Kalos League is one of favorite league!!!!
Dang, Lillie! Talk about a costume change!😁
Best League for me
It was great for the major battles (Ash Greninja vs Sceptile and Charizard) but outside of that the league seemed rather bland and every Pokemon seemed to be a glass cannon where they would battle for like 2 minutes then get one shot or a double K.O. It was a decent league but everything besides the battle against Mega Charizard and Mega Sceptile were highly forgettable
Yet was very bad and rushed
I agree!
I did some research and this is how many trainers participated in Ash's Pokémon leagues
KANTO - 256 Trainers
JOHTO - 192 Trainers
HOENN - 512 Trainers
SINNOH - 256 Trainers
UNOVA - 128 Trainers
KALOS - 64 Trainers
ALOLA - 151 Trainers
I really feel like if they had just made ash’s battle with Astrid a full battle and shown it I ya entirety it really wouldn’t have felt so rushed
i'm looking forward to seeing your Alola League review
We were so hyped for Alain's Charizard because of how strong it was in the Kalos League just for it to get slapped by Leon in the Masters Tournament. Alain's victory aged really well.
Pure satisfying karma...but why?
I really think Sawyer should have had his own group of special episodes just like Alain did.
So true dude, honestly sawyer is definitely one of my favourite characters in all the anime
@@spartanclaude7170 Honestly if they had done these side stories for all of Ash's main rivals throughout the regions I would have loved to see all of them especially the man himself Paul.

Hawlucha: SLAKING IM GONNA DEAFEAT YOU
Hawlucha gets deafeated
Slaking: 😐😐what did you say I was sleeping
Lmao 😂
The same but with the Sinnoh League:
Torkoal: I will show Darkrai some firepower
Torkoal is defeated by one single Dark Pulse
Darkrai: I'm unbeatable as always.
The worst thing is that slaking is weak to the fighting guy and he endures it like nothing and on top of that I defeat hawlucha
5:30 is no one going to talk about how the trees are floating I know this is just a cartoon with monsters that can breathe fire but still
Ash pikachu use iron tail on the ground that makes shockwave which send those cut trees on the air.

Do battle frontier review next, I know that it's not a league but you can still review the episodes where he battled the frontier brains
I don’t know how many people will be content with my idea for a Down To The Fiery Finish rewrite (one where Ashy Boy wins), but here it is:
After seeing that in his current state, Pikachu cannot do much damage to Charizard, Ash decides to recall him.
So my version had Goodra do something, still convey Charizard’s power, still made Greninja look good and won Ash the Kalos League.
i like the filters you put over the video it's a nice effect, amazing content as always, hoping the youtube gods are kind to you and you don't get demonetized :(
Are we gonna talk about how Zac searched up a lot of movie characters over-dramatically saying “no” just for that finale ending
HAhahaahahaah, thats exactly how i feel about him losing though!! spot on hahaha
I don’t know I don’t think it makes sense to me, Alain’s Charizard got defeated by an elite four while Ash’s Greninja is stronger than Diantha the Champion that is stronger than the elite four, it felt like a inconsistent power scaling that the writers pulled off
My favorite post-league moment was when Ash and Greninja prove their bond to Lysandre and they scream "BATTLE ME LYSANDRE!!! AAAAAHHHH!!!"

Your are right he did great at the Kalos league and he was able to win the Alola League, and is Now the First Ever Champion of Alola, can't wait for your review of the Alola League man
Erbby Saintvil I hate that out of all the leagues he could have won at..... he won the damn alola league.
Draico Storm alola league is so stupid itll never compare to a real league and they think doing that will make me forgive them for rushing the kalos league and making him lose for having a type advantage which is so dumb

Anime fans: The Kalos League killed any hope of Ash winning an official league!
Alola League: Allow me to introduce myself.
Really though, that Bisharp must have had 5 Wide Lense slapped onto it! Seriously... landing TWO Guillotine moves?!
It really feels like Goodra was cheaped out of that, to the point where I'm not mad at Goodra for not getting a legit win... feels more like Goodra didn't get a FAIR DEFEAT!
The salt is real, and it's STILL there. I stayed off the internet for the entire week to avoid spoilers. I swear this was the most hype Pokemon had been since Gen 1, maybe better. Everyone was betting on Ash finally becoming Champion...And then he loses. Even if he wins the Alola League, the salt from Kalos will still be there. Easily the most controversial battle in the series.
@Mr. Anonymous123 If Rain Dance didn't go away, Greninja would've won

Ash should have brought his charizard back with a mega stone from professor sycamore and battle Alan

Yep
Kanto - He lost because of his disobedient Charizard and Team "I won't leave you alone"
Johto - This loss didn't bug me
Hoenn - This loss didn't bug me. What bugged me was the fact that Pikachu lost to a Meowth.
Sinnoh - He lost because the writers thought it would be funny
Unova - He lost to a trainer who forgot to bring a full team of 6
Kalos - He lost because the writers wanted to see their fans to their boiling point.
Hey I blinked and missed half the Kalos league. This video helped me alot and filled me in!! Thanks
How the Ash vs Sawyer ended the way they did: Ash had used the weakness policy item on Greninja just before the battle
This league was phenomenal until Ash-Greninja lost to Alain's Mega Charizard X.
😌
Sinnoh league was phenomenal even after losing to Tobias but both leagues seem great, sinnoh is just the better one for me
Levi Bentley Yeah, that ruined not just the league for me but all of XY. It ruined the anime as a whole for me too though I am considering watching Sun and Moon just for its league now.
@@supersonicheroes you should it's good, once you like a good story line instead of over the top battles. But watch it, you won't regret it.

Is it just me or if Kalos have one more episode I could have beat sinnoh or tied with it at least?
@whatishappi
It needs more than one extra episode.
S. Wu WAY more
People forget that dragon resists water so greninjas moves are neutral to charizard whereas charizard had thunder punch
People forget that mega Sceptile lost after being hit with a water shuriken 1/4 effective :D
The League with the silver trophy is back.
That was seriously idiotic on the writers part
It is not like that, what happens is that the creator of pokemon xy wanted to end the pokemon anime because most people were already tired of seeing ash as the protagonist, but unfortunately he lost and continued pokemon sun and moon where he won just because in kalos had created a massive hatred
Agreed. The fact that it was a last-minute change is so irritating.
Brock: Both of Ash's pokemon are water types and they are totally weak against fire types
Kalos league final: Well you not wrong..
That was a dub error for Arceus sake
10:05 - 10:10
Everyone hugging there Ash-greninja plushie and crying
Here after Alola our boy finally did it
Although I was sad that Ash (Satoshi) didn’t win the Kalos league, Alain had a reason to win the league, and that is to save Mairin’s Chespin.
I never realized how short the Kalos League arc was

6 down, 1 to go, alola league, here we come
Yeah
The in between battles might've been skipped but your damn right we got 3 great battles in return
Are you gonna make an Alola league review once it's over? It's been my fav league so far
I can imagine Zac going crazy because the episode before the beginning of the finals was gonna copy that Axew filler in Black and White, but Zac was relieved that Chepsin was found quickly.
That axew filler was so completely stupid
@@eljordinio7647 Yes it shouldn't have existed. Kill that episode.

One of my fav things about this league was the shape shifting arena for each match. It was pretty cool.
I like it when you mention "Satoshi-Gekkouga", refers to the original name
I feel like Kalos League was rushed because the main focus was the final arc where the most epic battle in Pokémon anime (Satoshi's canon) franchise was ever happened, also looking back at how Satoshi-Gekkouga formed, somehow reminds me of similar phenomenon in different franchise
Takato and Guilmon formed Dukemon, Golden Experience acquire the Requiem mode, Netto and RockMan.EXE formed a Fusion (forgot what it's called), even if in Alola he wins the battle, but his ace, Gekkouga, is still the best for me
The worst thing is that every time a new series starts Ash’s progress is basically wiped, he loses all his badass Pokémon from the previous generation and has to start from scratch.
So what you wanna just watch ashes first team which is basically just gen1 Pokémon start going through next however many generations and win all the leagues cause if that’s what you want then you won’t be getting any greninja or most of ashes other Pokémon from the whole series
IT’S BACK YES!!!!!
The entire XY anime was just a 10/10 for me tbh
Yep same here 😂

Completely agree with your take on alain winning the league. At least we were able to see alain at least 10 episodes before the entire league even started. There were even short specials with alain and mairin to give back story of them and their relations with team flare so it actually gave them character compared to tobias in DP and cameron in BW.
Could you ever do a Battle Frontier review?
@11:59 For this, I blame the 3D animation. It drives up the relative cost of making every minute of combat compared to if you are allowed to economize using cut-ins, fixed images or simpler 2D cheoreography. It subjects every combat to a more stringent cost-benefit analysis so only *necessary* combats are shown.
It is a very good league but I have complaints first is moivern and goodra doesn't win a single match second greninja movest seriously water shuriken, cut, aerial ace , double team it could have been better considering greninja in game moveset
