I love when they have no concept of consequences. Cop tells you to leave or you'll be arrested and their first thought is to do the opposite with no belief there will be a next step. It's baffling.

@@markmiller8853 He refused to leave after being told to leave by that establishment. And when he refused in front of Law Enforcement, that appears to be the arrestable offense. Also, there's a sign by the microwave saying "Please pay for your food before reheating", so once again -- their property, their rules. Private property rights are a thing too.
I'd of called the cops too. Homeless folk don't get to be "entitled".
I stopped there last week and camped the first night in the bakery area. However, the morning crowd woke us up, so we moved our tent to the meat department and had no other issues during our 3-day stay. I give our camping experience a 4-aisles rating.

LEOs tend to work much faster when they have backup. I haven't watched the entire video yet, but the first cop probably stalled until the second arrived
By his logic, he has to be asked to leave repeatedly and for an extended period of time (and he needs to be given adequate time to finish whatever he wants to do) before it becomes an official request to leave that he would consider honoring. #Narcissist

They don't play in Aspen. I used to live there and you can't be homeless there. They will put you on a bus back to Denver.

So, if you're asking a trespasser to leave these days, you must use certain words, with a certain number of syllables - no more, no less - and speak softly in a sing-song voice. If you don't do it exactly that way, you're constitutionally in violation of the law and the trespasser may ignore you.
And ask for 30 minutes🤣
A lot of homeless ppl end up doing this. They get tired of being outside. Then go into businesses and use every tactic they can, to be in there as long as they can.
They'll go to rest rooms and sleep. Loiter, and usually they end up stealing.
It's desperation, but with food pantries, and shelters, and better places to get out of the sun. Like a mall, less likely to get booted out as fast in an area with a lot of ppl around.
They usually have options. Gotta be smart about it, just cause you're homeless doesn't mean the world drops all expectations from you. Still gotta play by the rules.

So many people need to be educated about Private Property rights. Just because it's a retail establishment open to the public, doesn't mean you don't have to leave when they tell you to.

I'm guessing that's because it's in one of the big tourist areas in the country. We have a store like that (not nearly as big) not too far from me, and it has a grocery store/convenience store in one side and the other side has outdoor clothing and camping supplies.

It's called Trespass After Warning. Private businesses have the right to refuse service for any reason. That includes use of the establishment's equipment (microwave). When officers are called to the scene & order one to leave, that's called a LAWFUL ORDER. Comply with lawful orders or face arrest. It's really that simple folks.
