golden pyro did actually did better than rocketeer since pyro can deal with other enemies while the burning dmg is happening and rocketeer has to deal with them through the entire map range

I just did a comparison between commando and rocketeer, who both are more similar than I thought, if you have to choose between the towers here's how you should do so. Commando: It is better at single-target and sub-dps and is also more versatile due to missiles having all detections. It is slightly worse at splash damage on no-stun enemies, but if an enemy can be stunned, Commando is better(this also makes Commando a better splash tower for breakers). Rocketeer: Better splash damage on stun immunes enemies, more reliable splash dmg(cause no micro needed and less cooldown), and worse single target. Rocketeer also has the benefit of having splash dmg at level 0(granted, not very good splash dmg) and being around 5k cheaper to max.
Fun fact, the explosion has a pierce cap of 7 enemies per rocket, I spawned 10 breakers in sand box and only 7 got destroyed despite them all being in the explosion
Rocketeers is too good now. Has 8* placement limit. Easy to get. Cheaper than mortar. Consistent with single target (ill explain this). And u dont need cliff space to place it down. What i mean by consistent skngle target is that it wont miss. Mortar has cluster bombs that are really jnconsistent and can miss most of the time. So its actual single target can be around 500 to 200 damage per shot. But roketeer will ALWAYS hit its shots so its always going to do about 90x4 damage. And its only single target. Mortars cluster bomc usually hit only 1-2 enemies in hordes. But rocketeers rokets and hit 3 in hordes. Making it very reliable since literally 2/3 of mortars true damage is from its cluster bombs. AND its also more expensive than rocketeer. Dead zone and flying is a disadvantage to rocketeer but ot can be easily countered by its massive range and Firework technician. Even with its downsides it is still on par with mortar and is alot easier to get.
Rocketer is Mid as an early game tower it only get goods when you max it and star spamming it alos I think mortar is better because of cluster bombs wiht yea they can miss but let's be honest you porbably will be using another thing to kill hte fast enemies also mortar is no stun.

I was kind of hoping that Rocketeer would gain a javelin upgrade, and focus a bit more on single target while still having a decent amount of crowd control to work with, because mortar already fulfills that purely aoe role, and I thought it’d be better if rocketeer had a bit more of an emphasis on single target so it wasn’t completely overshadowed. Oh well.
@ Sure, I’m not against the idea of higher level towers being better than lower end, but having the higher end tower make cheaper one completely obsolete is just bad game design. Even minigunner, the stepping stone for intermediate to advanced players, still has its uses for when you’ve unlocked every tower because it’s a cheaper form of reliable, high dps that the other late game towers can’t achieve at only 2,500$. Mortar and rocketeer cost relatively the same price when factoring in upgrades, so why wouldn’t you use mortar?

i tested rocketeer on release and to be honest, its pretty good crowd control for an intermediate tower. not as good as mortar, but useful
