- How long were The Butcher & The Blade hiding under the ring before their surprise AEW Dynamite debut, and whose idea was that? Andy Williams and Jesse Guilmette answer those questions, along with what it’s like working with Jesse’s real-life wife, Allie (aka The Bunny)! They also talk about the movies and music that inspired their gimmick, how they got started tag teaming, their BFF status outside the ring, the Buffalo wrestling scene, and the time that Orange Cassidy came to an Every Time I Die concert, and literally almost died! Plus, Andy & Jesse answer the age-old question, “does pineapple really belong on pizza?”

Why does butcher sound like the blade and blade sound like butcher 😂
This should be the top comment
@F*CK Kayfabe are you slow?
@F*CK Kayfabe butcher is the bigger guy but he has the softer voice while blade is the smaller guy with a much deeper voice
Haha v
Thought I was the only one that noticed.
The Butcher carrying Rey Fenix on his hip, is one of the best things I have seen lol
The Butcher is visually one of the most grizzled badass characters I’ve ever seen. He’s like the final bosses badass body guard.
The Butcher Andy Williams is one of my absolute favorite human beings alive.
ua-cam.com/video/QZsFnNufIks/v-deo.html
He's a god dang good guitarist.
Same here. ETID’s been one of my favorite bands for years and when I found out Andy was a huge pro wrestling fan and planned to get into it, it made me an even bigger fan of his. Cool to see how successful he’s been with it so far.
The Butcher is guitarist for the great band Every Time I Die. He is also straight edge and hillarious.
@Smith & Wesson there are many straight edge vegans/vegetarians, but this has nothing to do with the three X's of straightedge. No drugs, No casual sex, No alcohol. As Minor Threat said "I got my sh!t straight and I got the edge on you." The punk community was killing itself at the time with the hard-partying lifestyle. Straight edge was about not falling into those pitfalls. There is a socially-conscious side wing of straight edge now that is heavily into progressive politics and animal rights, but that is not the foundation of the straight edge movement.
Love ETID
@@davidjacksonarnold4949 whooaaa we got a punk mark, look at thissss
All Elite Family introduced me to Butcher and Blade. I've been a fan since. They get better each time they get on screen. I'm invested 💯
Ditto!!!!!! AEW AEW AEW
Same bro. Now I love these guys, top 10 in aew easy
Same here Bro !!!
Aesthetically, Butcher is by far my favorite wrestler lol.
Same dude. They are an old school style tag team and I love it
Andy Williams is an absolute hero. Love him in Every time I die
Love him as the butcher.
Just an all round legend
A lot of people like to comment on how The Butcher doesn’t sound like you’d think he would. I don’t have an issue with it, but I honestly think The Butcher and The Blade should totally play that up by having The Butcher be something like Silent Bob - don’t have The Butcher talk for the vast majority of the time, only to have him say something intelligent and thought-provoking in a calm, rational voice on the rare occasions he does talk.
Maybe you could have someone reply afterwards to him, “So that’s why you wear that monocle.”
I feel like if/when Butcher cuts a promo, it’ll have a Jake the Snake quality to it. Maybe not in terms of sound, like voice quality. But definitely in terms of pacing and tone.
Alexythimia23, clearly, I was comparing my idea for the Butcher portrayal in AEW to how Silent Bob is portrayed in Kevin Smith movies - speaking only on rare occasions to say something insightful. I don’t see how you could reasonably miss the context of what I initially wrote.
That's not a bad idea...
Sprechen Sie Deutsch? It’s because people don’t read usually.
The Butcher and the Blade are fantastic , they got that Batman villain thug look , there in ring work is great too,
I hope they get to wear some gold very soon...
Great show , much respect from UK ✌️
Thats a great comparison dude
Keep faith. The build up is happening. Remember their debut? It's the butcher and the blade! The who...? Lot of great work in a short time.
@@tylerleggett5088 yeah man , that was unreal , can't believe how that was handled that to be fair...
They handled that like champs and have been constantly putting in great matches for me since...
Excellent work guys , one of the best out right now.. ✌️
When Butcher started talking spooky stuff I was immediately like "Oh yeah, Dyatlov Pass, classic mystery incident"
same! Thanks to Last Podcast on The Left.
@@Pbarwik I'm honestly not sure where I first heard about it - probably on some paranormal TV show years ago.
@@Pbarwik great taste in podcasts. Hail Yourself!
It's not really a mystery as to what really happened. Tons of myths surrounding that - there was no radiation. Animal scavengers eat tongues and eyes - not unheard of or uncommon at all. Paradoxical undressing is a known symptom of hypothermia. That incident has been well and truly researched, and the conclusions are pretty solid. They got cold, took their clothes off and ran out into a blizzard (hypothermia symptoms) and then were scavenged by scavengers. The radiation claims are completely made up; no radiation was found at all.
Never thought The freaking Butcher would be a soft-spoken dude talking about Dyatlov Pass. Love it.
The Butcher has a interesting look. I feel like he could branch off & actually do good as a solo wrestler but at the same time their tag team is solid either way.
When they debuted, I thought that The Butcher should have been in "Gangs of New York" or a strongman in a turn-of-the-century boxing match.
I get a Big Bully Busick vibe but not as cartoony. Like I’m sure what Simon Gotch envisions himself as
Hey, I'm just trying to help here, so don't bite my head off: it's an* interesting look, and do well*.
I think they are a great tag team.
@@shanestephens4728 Butcher has the best ‘stache in the business! 👍 it kind of reminds me of the late great Ox Baker’s ‘stache !
THANK YOU!! This is the one I was waiting for!!
Their Falls Count Anywhere match with the Bucks was one of the best matches in AEW to date.
The actual Best Friends tag-team.
The butcher sounded so different from what I imagine him sounding like.
I imagined he sounded like Lemmy.
YEAH he sounds like really soft Guy, XD
@R. Dale no one said it was a problem 😅😅 you okay tho? Need someone to talk to? You seem so upset everyone is talking about their voices. 😅😅
He’s actually a very tender guy with a heart of gold. You just don’t expect it because he is so big and hairy with lots of tattoos and he plays in a hardcore metal band.
Sounds like a regular white guy
I love these guys. I love when butcher comes in and he stomps around the blade
I’ve been a fan of Butcher and the Blade for a few years now and it’s good to hear them back on a podcast. Kickin Ass Pod was one of my go-to podcasts. But glad to see them on AEW every week. Heat’s in the ring, brother 🤙🏽
Tony is hilarious! I've never watched one of these, but man is he funny.
Also, Butcher and the Blade's voices seem like they should be reversed, haha. Cool guys.
I was thinking the same thing about their voices 🤣
Tony is great. I'm really happy they got him to come back to the biz.
Totally agree! I thought that straight away.
Checkout What Happened When , Tony is great on that Podcast
indeed
This team has grown on me a whole bunch and might be my favorite on the AEW roster at this point. These guys are great. Big fan. Gotta get myself some of their merch.
Take a drink every time Butcher says "like". Seriously though these guys are cool as hell!
The Butcher is such a unique looking character, how are you not doing something unbelievable with this guy, is beyond me!
Exactly i like this guy
Love these guys. Butchers appearance is so misleading. He looks 44, sounds 24. Good mixture
And he's actually 34 {÷}
@@kaineshigaraki5253 he was born in 1977
@@kaineshigaraki5253 He's 43.....that's quite a big plus/minus.
Hands down my favorite one so far! These two guys seem like super cool, chill dudes. The B&B gimmick is in my top 3 tag teams right now, definitely happy to see them getting a push more and more.
I can never look at The Butcher the same way again, I will always think of him as a Gentle Giant with that type of voice.
This was one of the most entertaining AEW Unrestricted podcasts ever! Butcher & Blade were a lot more friendly and entertaining than I expected them to be, which is why I love this podcast so much because we get to see the person rather than them being in character. Now I have to go watch Tank Abbot vs Big Al during the demise of WCW.
Can't wait until Blade "gets his house in order" and we find out what's up with Allie and QT Marshall
It’s still crazy to think that blade and Allie are married
this storyline. yes. i hope they get those ducks in a row and make something great out of it.
I have listened to Every Time I Die since the super early 2000's. Now to see Andy not just play guitar for them but also wrestling as The Butcher in AEW is simply amazing.
Ah hahahaha! Disco Inferno is always talking smack about AEW. Jealous punk. I'm so glad that Tony said something about how bad his career was, because it's insulting that he thinks he can tell others how to run a large promotion.
Daniel LaDue Disco is/was nothing more than a glorified jobber
Disco is never relevant as a wrestler.
@@jackhoff1002 I think "glorified" would be giving him too much. He's just the goofy dude I used to laugh at when I was 12.
The dude who uploads Disco Inferno's podcasts swears D.I is like the greatest wrestler. Fuck Disco Inferno lmao
I thought I was the only one yessss disco stays talking about aew lol
Thank you tony 👏👏
So awesome! Love the Butcher and the Blade! Great interview, thanks AEW!!!
Really great pod!!! Bring them back ASAP
Didn't know much about these guy before they showed up on AEW and I've really liked them since they arrived. Great interview, and I support anyone who shouts out Westside Gunn on Dark.
Amazing. Been a every time i die fan for almost 20 yrs. Seeing andy have a 2nd career and still make me music is amazing!
I almost died of laughter with the story with Orange lmao Poor Butcher lol What a lovely guy by the way, which tells me how good of a performer he is to be so threatening in the ring.
I love Dynamite, but one of the best things about it is actually after it's over finding out the new guest on Unrestricted. Such a fun listening and a great way to get to know the people behind the characters and the stories they have :)
AEW!!!!! AEW!!!!!! AEW!!!!!!
I was at the front row of the concert in the exact spot where andy threw orange into the crowd. He had to clear at 5 foot gap and andy threw orange at a 2 foot rate of speed. Had my arms out to catch him but he was well short. The look of pure panic in Andy's eyes and orange gets up after smashing into the ground like it was nothing.
I swear Butcher and Blade's voices are reversed lol.
This is the top comment.
I was going to say the same thing lol
@R. Dale shut the fuck up. You've posted the basically the same reply on multiple comments.
dope interview!!
When they wear their all white it reminds me of a clockwork orange which fits really well with their gimmick, real sinister and creepy!
Been a huge fan of ETID since forever... was so happy when I realized Andy is Butcher
Watching andy progress as a wrestler has been awesome. It seems like hes having alot of fun with it. Great dude.
Love this! I have been a fan of The butcher and the blade from day one and they are improving a lot! Hopefully you can have Penta and Fenix even if they need someone to translate it would be awesome to see an interview of them.
"Can I tell a kayfabe story real quick"
I never thought butcher and blade were super cool homies
Thank god for unrestricted podcast. Definitely better to watch than that other show on Monday nights.
Braxton Allie and Laurel Van Ness' love triangle in Impact is my favorite wrestling love triangle since the Mega Powers blew up and just think of how much ground that covers. There's one piece missing of that puzzle in AEW. Well she's up North now, but never say never, especially since Matt Cardona is now in AEW.
This is terrific. I had, absolutely no opinion on these guys, but now I love them. Such great dudes, with awesome personalities. I can't see them as heels now. Ha!!
The amazing thing about aew is the fact all the guys and gals get a chance to shine. They have the faith and loyalty of the fans. I honestly wasn't overly impressed with the first match I saw on beyond, but they are definitely growing on me. Butcher looked great against mox. Keep rockin lads!
Love these podcasts, really enjoyed learning more about B&B. I've been a huge ETID fan for years, but never really followed B&B until AEW.
Completely adore these guys. I would love for them to have some gold.
Was in Chicago for their debut and it was AMAZING!
Hell this butcher guys looks so intimidating but his voice is so gentle
Wish they turned this into an ongoing gag of sorts.
My favorite team in wrestling right now
I love Tony and Aubrey together. I hope the chemistry is authentic.
Also, every time I die fans, where you guys at
yess. Love it.
To my mistress the bridge!
🤘
literally came to this video to hear andy say they were releasing a single soon
i need new etid like 6 months ago
🤘🤘🤘
Really enjoyed this one. Always a great interview
This is one I’ve been waiting for, these guys are awesome and I’m excited to watch all of this!
Knowing Andy from following every time I die it's a trip seeing him wrestle on tv nearly every week.
My favorite interview so far!
Does Andy know that he looks like Doctor Mindbender from G.I. Joe when he wears the monacle? :)
Love these podcasts! Hopefully they can get some old timers on occasionally
My favourite AEW tag team, so many story possibilities for their character and style
This is so freaking amazing. I love it and am fascinated by butcher and blade. It's great to know more about them.
Andy Williams ftw!!!!!
ETID FOREVER
Every Day I Die should do a Jericho Cruise and jam with Fozzy
Time*, nah, no chance, they would upstage Fozzy
Very cool cats...and are horror movie buffs...could totally hang with these guys...keep up the great work guys
I really liked The Butcher before but this has made me a total fan for life!
Very happy to see these guys seem down to earth and nice, they are cool characters on tv, underrated a bit I think. I enjoyed the interview :)
The only bad part is realizing they are up there in age :/ Even though they don't perform like it👍
Great episode. Love Butcher & The Blade. Andy is such a teddy bear
Said it before, say it again, I think the Butcher has one of the best looks/aura's in AEW right now. Seriously, you think he'd be a joke. The monocle, the mustache that beats anything from the civil war and a kinda eyerolling name. But this man owns it completely. Really hope he goes as far as he wants to while in AEW.
I like how hard Aubrey tried to bury Tony and Butcher and Blade were not having it.
Great Interview! I'll be checking out Every Time I Die
Dyatlov path incident is the crazy Russin hikers thing that Butcher was talking about near the end.
Great interview love these guys! Butches band is awesome.
Butcher and Blade, dope podcast. Jazz fusion all day. Awesome style, can dig it.
53:45 He's talking about the Dyatlov Pass incident. There's a somewhat realistic theory that explains it now, but it's a cool story to check out.
My co-worker's good friend is a booker for The Granada in Lawrence. When Every Time I Die plays Lawrence they would eat at his house since he would host a BBQ. It was a fun moment when he already knew about my wrestling addiction and then tells me his story that he knows the band. I was like "Dude.....The Butcher ate at your house?" and he replied, "Who?".
Great interview with The Butcher and The Blade. Different outside the ring
Thank you for recommending the movie, Mandy. I just saw it and it's definitely one of the best movies I've ever seen now. What an incredibly surreal psychedelic journey 😱
I'm happy Len Denton was mentioned! The Grappler rules! ALSO TONY RULES! great interview TONY !LOVE YOU MAN !!
I like both of them. They are very good
Never knew these dudes are funny as hell!!!!
The butcher reminds me of the villain from sonic the hedgehog xD
Eggman?
@@KairosObj i can't recall his name, the crazy scientist with the big moustache xD
@@KairosObj just searched it, you right dr. Eggman, aka robotnik 🙂
You meant Marty Scurll LOOOOOL!!!!!! Kidding ;D
The Power and The Glory is the Gentle Giant album Andy is talking about. It's a great prog rock record that everyone should check out. Ironic album for a tag team wrestler to reference.
Also, Pat Martino is the badass of jazz guitar badasses. What a beast!
Butcher and Blade are a fine example of why it's very hard to find a favorite in AEW. Let's just say it's like the Justice League. It's hard to find one favorite because they are all great and are all really important parts of the whole. I loved their inclusion into AEW from the moment they burst from the ring floor into the stage. And now I am glad they are a group with the Lucha |Bros and with Eddie Kingston as their spokesman/manager. It's perfect.
Love this tag team, the look & the work is amazing, wish they would get a legit push
Love that jazz-fusion Mahavishna Orchestra Carlos Santana-Johh Mclaughlin album etc
THESE ARE THE BEST FRIENDS! so wholesome.
I enjoyed this podcast. Butcher and the Blade is a very underrated tag team. Hopefully we will see championship gold around their waists one day very soon.
I feel like Butcher should have Blade's voice and Blade should have Butcher's voice.
Does anybody have the clip of Butcher throwing Orange Cassidy?
I'm from Buffalo I want to find this video I want to call riverworks and find this video there has to be a camera video of this outdoor venue in Buffalo in December
Best I could find while listening to this was a twitter post...
twitter.com/BIG_E_1984/status/1206093572509962242
It doesn't show Orange land but you can clearly see Butcher go "oh f~"
Same here with me that was basically the same fee I got when I looked it up on UA-cam
Hilarious, i would have bet money the bigger guy with the beard was the one with the deeper voice 🤣
God I love you guys I love the butcher in the blade I have to show this to non wrestling fans who live in Western New York because these guys are talking about Western New York and buffalo and I love my hometown and these guys love their Hometown Buffalo they have become my new favorite tag team Butcher & Blade Mafia for life
I just realized that Aubrey and Chuck Taylor look really similar
Tim Terrell in a cute way
I love the butcher and the blade they're one of my favorite tag team Andy Williams every time I die the butcher treats the blade like a brother to him
Great show. Loved the take on Conspiracy Theories being like comic books.
Met Andy at an ETID and Norma Jean gig around 14 years ago, he thanked me for buying their newest shirt with my last bit of cash and bought me a beer while one of the opening acts played, that's how you treat a fan.
Every time i die > Fozzy
Butcher&Blade are Badass.
That is all!
These guys were on the cusp of being my 2 favourite dudes, but after this podcast they skyrocketed to top spot.
After hearing them talk about horror, I had to google their ages and it turns out they're a couple of "school years" older than me, which makes perfect sense... as I can testify... Candyman had a massive impact on me at that age. Imagine just becoming a teen during the 90's and seeing an 18 rated horror movie (age ratings meant nothing back then... you could walk into any cinema or rent any movie without ID) that gave you an absolute fear of a) project's/block of flats (UK term), b) public bathrooms and bathroom mirrors, and c) ... God help you if the light/power goes out whilst you're in the bathroom. Still holds up to this day, but possibly wont have the same impact on modern kids as I'm not sure if "urban legends" are still a thing, and for the most part in 2020, the projects are cleaned up... a bit. Remake coming in 2021, but I'm gonna try and stay unbiased as, lets face it, remakes suck for the most part.
The Descent is another good shout because, same boat again, I had the attitude that "modern horrors suck" but stuck it on anyways for something to watch. Pleasantly surprised. Made me feel anxious as hell throughout and genuinely made me feel really claustrophobic and disoriented. It got me really panicky at moments because I once had a random panic attack whilst potholing. I had to slide through on my belly, arms outstretched, and whilst completely in the middle my breathing started getting ragged. The more my breathing sped up, the more I panicked. The more I panicked, the more it sped up. Every time my lungs expanded, my ribcage would touch all sides of the tunnel and I'd be stuck in place. Terrifying.
One last horror related thing. The mask that The Blade wears, that's based on/is a replica of Decker's mask in Nightbreed, right? Don't think I've ever heard anyone mention it before... or the movie... but that was absolutely one of my favourite movies growing up.
Random modern horror movie recommendation: The Void. Not the best movie by a longshot, but features lots of body horror and good old, lovingly made, practical effects. Recommended if you're a fan of Silent Hill, Lovecraft, The Thing or 80's horror in general.
@rudy2fat I knew it!!
And yea, he still has the same eye-positions etc on the mask, but its lost all detail and its in like a shiny black wetlook PVC/leather.
Not joking dude, Butcher... just looking at that guy I was like "this guy right here! I have a feeling this guy is gonna be my new favourite!" before I fell in love with his stompy-knee old-timey wrestler walk around the ring.
Blade I was like "meh.... hes the skinny work rate one right?"
...and then I saw the Decker mask and was like, "nah c'mere mate, I have room in my heart for 2!" haha.
@rudy2fat 100%. I couldn't agree more man!
They deserve the Gold
You guys should check out Butcher’s band Every Time I Die. The guy is a killer guitar player.
The Butcher is such a nice guy for being such a huge, menacing guy. He sounds like he couldn’t hurt a fly.
We know that’s not true.
love you gals and galls thank you for entertaining me....during these times your the best literally!
