5:30 - Just tried a ceramic shampoo for the first time this month and you're spot on with the low foaming action being a compromise not necessarily a selling point if you like lovely bubbly shampoos. Personally think theyre good to prolong your existing protection. Great impartial review as ever.
Bit of a damp squid that one! I agree I love the beading after my truck, a MSRT Ford Ranger, has been ceramic waxed and dried off. I use Maguires CW. The whole wash duration takes me an hour start to finish - it’s a pleasure not a chore and tbh, if one cannot spare an hour bi-monthly to take care of of your vehicles paintwork by not keeping it clean then there’s something very wrong with your life lol
This beads like crazy. I've got it and used on my car. Best shampoo I've used. Before this used UHD shampoo. Never again I ordered 4 more of these bottles now got 5 ! The best
@@PabloConcrete I’m not a valeter I’m just a normal guy washes car at home. I followed the instructions on bottle 3 capfuls to a bucket of water. Works a treat. I bought first bottle at £18 then ordered 4 more and they went down in price to £17. This is the dogs bollox
The sonax one is the best I have used, gloss and beads are very impressive, also like how slick it is when washing and drying. Also great as a spray and rinse after a normal wash, 20-40ml in a spray bottle and rinse and it will blow you away for what it is
Nice recent review Thankyou. Have to admit ceramic sprays are alot more hydrophobic plus can boost gloss and shine. Impressed by the dilution ratio nice work Autoglym
I’ve been using the AutoGlym polar blast three stage for a year now and find it very good. Think the neighbors must think I’m nuts washing and rinsing three times then drying.
I bought this to use on my Diamond Black Volkswagen Polo. I was lazy enough to not wash her for 4 days and has been driven over 15 miles since the last time she was washed. When I finally got round to use this product, I was knocked over by its lovely sweet smell, and it made a difference to my little car's already-very-high gloss. 10 out of 10, well done again Autoglym!!! I would love it if we could upload photos of our cars in the comments.
Their ceramic spray detailer is amazing though for £15. I bung it on after and beads really well and seems to last a couple of months. Now using the st jarna Glatt which seems blooming good too, I’m a lazy car washer not a proper detailer so suits me
I think a normal shampoo with a drying agent is the better solution. The Autoglym ceramic detailer is a good combo, however I find the gtechnic crystal gives a much better finish
John try Griots wash & coat- it works pretty well- 4 ounces on your foam cannon- it protects well but with low foaming- much better with a base layer with spray ceramic sealant. Get from Frost restoration in UK
I wish i had wached this review before purchasing it last weekend...havent used it yet...but just from this i think I will be staying with UHD shampoo and Seal
Hi John, You use your jet washer to add more suds to the bucket but surely that defeats the point of the grit guard as you have just blasted all of the dirt and particles caught in the bottom of the bucket?
didnt we blast it up at the start? not sure, if we added more soap and frothed it up again you wouldnt normally be doing that but we are just testing it. my porsche is swirled to hell and back anyway at the moment
I use the meguiars one in an orange bottle where you have to mix the shampoo and ceramic element yourself, it comes in a double bottle, it’s probably to address the foaming issue? The positive is it seems to foam like a ‘normal’ shampoo, but the negative is that the ceramic part doesn’t really mix with it, it sits at the top of the bucket like an oil slick. But when you apply it with a wash mitt it does work well. My car is ceramic coated so beads well anyway, but my wife’s isn’t and hers still beads really well, way better than you got in your video. I use diamond brite ceramic snow foam too as a pre wash, my car is never that dirty, but that seems to help beading too, and has pretty good cleaning power and foaming from what I can see. People say it’s a waste of time using ceramic pre wash, but it’s worked well for me so far. And I just do it for the purpose of keeping the ceramic coating topped up.
I kind of expected this from it to be honest..... The whole time you were talking about foaminess of the shampoo, all i had in my head was how good i find the foaming and work-ability of UHD shampoo! Think ill stick to UHD shampoo and either Rapid Ceramic Spray coating after OR Polar Seal after if im in a hurry! Great vid as always¬
I saw this advertised recently and was keen to give it a go as I tend to favour AG products. Having watched your video, I'm not sure I'll bother with it. I think I'll just stick to washing the car and giving it a frequent polish and coating of in2detailing ceramic wax. Thanks, John. You've saved me £33.
I got this last week and trust me it's the best shampoo and beads like crazy water runs off it like mad. It's best shampoo. After using it I ordered 4 more bottles now have 5 of them. Never using UHD shampoo again.
Ez car care do a ceramic shampoo “Quartz” now i know ez products are normally cheap and not all that good but this shampoo is the best ceramic shampoo ive tried the suds are good too considering most ceramic shampoos dont do suds the protection left behind is amazing too well worth a try jon i think you would like this and would love to know your thoughts on this in comparrison to others you have in your arsenal
If it's as any good as their ceramic spray I'll take a bottle. Kept my lunar clubman well protected for years. And longevity is good. Cheaper than forking out for a full on ceramic layer. And you can top it up.
I used a whole bottle of the gtechnic ceramic g wash over the winter and I ve been impressed. They also say u can put a tiny bit neat on the mitt and this does work a lot better I think it better than this new autoglym product . For me these are winter products only u get any sun on when using these products u pay the price with water spots at your peril
I'm with you on this John 100%. It's definitely not for me this one. I like more foam as well. I personally think the autoglym UHD shampoo is far better than this... But like you I like to protect my car after the wash stage with my Polish waxes and sealants👌
Here is me still using my meguiars gold class for the past 20yrs 😂 can’t see past the stuff but coming in to the present day I do like after washing it giving it a spray of auto finesse ceramic foam.
I personally use "Carbon Collective Ceramic Shampoo". Best shampoo ive ever used in my 30+ yrs of driving. Gives a very high gloss, and excellent beading for topping up an existing Ceramic coating.
Interesting review Jon, some good info. I got sent 1 litre of this along with a litre of the Advanced All Wheel Cleaner for helping out with development, hope to be trying both products soon. Looking forward to trying the wheel cleaner as the couple of reviews I have seen seem to rate it pretty highly.
Do you think that mixing this product with a standard shampoo will give both foaming and ceramic water heading ability? To be fair, I would probably use this between a big detail as a "top up barrier" to make the next detail slightly easier. I have never er been a fan of Autoglym products, but as tech evolves, then I am willing to give new things a go... but end up with loads of products in the cupboards I will never use again.
The worry I have is that if the wash does not clean and decontaminate the car are you not just locking in the contaminants? I would see this as a last touch - apc, tar, decontamination, wash and then a second sweep with this?
Hi John, I have used Polar Seal for a while. Would there be any benefit from using the two products together (wash with the ceramic and spray with Polar), or would that just be a waste? Great review BTW
Same here. Makes me wonder if Jon should apply this product via a snow foam lance. Similar to how people found touch on to worm really well by spraying on the car with a snow foam lance rather than in a bucket
I think I’ll swerve that! My concern with these ceramic washes is that they clog the paint. Prefer to wash and then apply a ceramic detailer at the drying stage. I think some of these high street detailing manufacturers need to run two lines - a specialist line with more serious products for enthusiast detailers. These sorts of ‘meh’ products for folks who wash their car twice a year let the brand down.
Why dont you experiment with this stuff with a snow foam lance? Similarly to how BH touch on was instructed to be put in a bucket but works really well putting in a snow foam lance and spraying it on
I could be wrong, but I always though that the reason ceramics typically foam less is that the ceramic nanoparticles act as an anti-foaming agent. For what it's worth, I've found the best hydrophobic effect with these products to come when you foam it on and rinse off after a few minutes with no agitation. For some reason agitation seems to make it worse.
hmm not sure. ceramic nano particles. Those are industry terms really. The main active ingredient will be a cationic Si- material i think. I do think they work better when sprayed on like you say. I almost wonder if the cationic component does not transfer so well from the mitt. not sure I may try it in a lance and see later on. sometimes you need to play around with products a bit.
@@ForensicDetailing yeah i know those words sound like made up marketing bs, but I did a very small amount of research and there are actual nanoparticles in some of these products. I don't go around saying words like nanoparticles because I would sound like a fool, but when you think about it anything ceramic has to be a particle. Of course lots of coatings are just polymers. Just found this statement on the wikipedia page for silicon dioxide: "Hydrophobic silica is used as a defoamer component".
This product does appear to be effective to a point. I do agree with you, John, regarding using a ceramic quick detailer, as a drying aid. I always do this after a contact wash, finding it to be very effective., in terms of protection, and as you pointed out, control of use.
When you blast the pressure washer into the bucket, surely you're kicking up any particles of grit into the water column and totally negating the point of the grit guard?
its a clean bucket mate. but yer you could argue dont blast up the bucket after you start using it. this porsche is plastered in swirls though and now has a blown engine from tearing round a motor circuit. so frothing up foam isnt high up on my list of problems :)
Infinity wax do one called wax on which the water behaviour is pretty good, when your using it you can see like a film where you’ve washed which is interesting
Hate the standard AG shampoo because of the no foaming, less foaming than the ceramic, feels like you're just dragging water over the vehicle. Much prefer Dodo Juice born to be mild, currently using BH auto wash which is fine.
John why are you passing your mitt over the lower arch areas, potentially picking up rubbish then passing the mitt across the bonnet? Surely its best to do the bottom areas at the end to reduce the risk of crap in the mitt scratching the other panels………. Just a thought. I would never ever wash my car like that or with a single bucket process🤔
Not impressed with the AutoGym to be fair , i rather use Gyeon bathe followed by Gyeon wetcoat giving slickness and shine and great beading for months .
I used to use turtle wax ceramic shampoo along with the ceramic wet wax, but i couldn't manage without any suds. It's just not right having no suds for a shampoo.....its like a shy stripper!!! Still looking for a good shampoo tho with lots of suds jon ....any recommendations?
As someone who dabbles with this stuff a bit I have a genuine question! Will these ceramic products block up your drying towels? Daft question but if the design of them is to repel water then surely you don’t want this in the fibres of your towels? Or am I miles off?
this isnt really a ceramic product. A ceramic coating is a hard curing resin that if you buff it off while applying will harden in the MF towel and then yes it effects the towel and you should relegate that towel (non paintwork duties). These products contain SI- material in the form of Siloxane. They can clog up your microfibre and bit but it slowly washes out of the towel in the machine.
@@ForensicDetailing superb explanation thank you! My car has a proper ceramic coat on and I like to use a ceramic spray top up to keep it looking great.
@ForensicDetailingChannel Try Gtechniq Ceramic G-Wash (W3) and dilute 200ml and 800ml in a spray bottle. 1. prewash the car 2. have the wash mitt wet 3. few sprays on wash mitt 4. do one panel 5. wash off 6. rinse and repeat, enjoy your hardcore ceramic performance :)
I really don’t think you should mix the shampoo stage and the coating/sealing stage. Too much compromise on both sides. I like to get the car properly clean and dry before applying either a ceramic coat or wax product. I’ve been using a nice clean shampoo and the rapid ceramic spray after drying and very happy with the results. Get a good 3 months of beadage and a nice bit of protection.
Is this just another example of AG needed to have something because everyone else does? I eventually got round to trying Polar Seal, sorry, its rubbish. However The Rapid Ceramic spray is brilliant, love it. For the price of this id say go with UHD shampoo and Rapid Ceramic spray.
Surely cheaper, more effective and generally better to grab 10 packets of touch on and dump into a canon and bottle up for an easy to use spray and rinse sealant that will offer 4 weeks of protection with self cleaning properties.
because they know more than you. with the p55 at about a foot you get a good amount of push beyond 2 foot its not effective. when you get closer than 6 inches your in the high risk danger zone. If you blast from 2 meters away its close to pointless using it. but yer you know best... can depend on system and nozzle fan out angle to.
UHD shampo will give you a much better experience as a car soap. After the UHD shampoo wash hit it up with their rapid ceramic spray. You could then use this ceramic shampoo to keep the shizzle goingI guess.
@@ForensicDetailing I use their polar seal product over the winter and their paste wax UHD in the summer. But available time is always getting shorter. Will give the ceramic detailer a try this year 👍🏻
Don’t think the wash is supposed to bead ! I used it in a smaller bucket than you used. And blasting it with the power washer doesn’t show how well the water just runs off the surface. Try using just a garden hose, and see that water run off the surface no problem. And don’t wash the windscreen with it, or throw your mit on the screen. The first time you use your wipers, it has a slight haze till it wears off. 👍
You can take that up with Autoglym then because the product claims on the site say. "SUPER BEADING ACTION Our Ceramic Wash & Protect contains ceramic technology which applies a fine protective hydrophobic layer to your vehicle after every wash. This helps water to beautifully bead after a rain shower, and speeds up drying your car after rinsing." Blasting it with pressure washer also helps show a hydrophobic effect versus pooling water down it.
@@ForensicDetailing Hi, on the bottle I have, it says - The super concentrate LOW FOAMING shampoo not only provides a thorough clean to remove dirt and grime, but it also generates an outstanding high gloss finish, and leaves behind a water repellant layer of protection. The hydrophobic barrier makes drying quicker and will also help your next clean is even easier. Ceramic Wash and Protect works in conjunction with all Autoglym coatings to top up your protection and gloss in between applications. So it’s low foam and no mention of beading on the bottle. Guess Autoglym need to sort out the website details. 👍
I was wincing when watching you get your pressure washer lance head so close to the painwork. For me, I'm probably double that distance else you're risking removing the product youve just put on, and potentially the clearcoat.
Autoglym has been for me the most subpar brand and that lack of beading is just dissapointing to see when they have the word CERAMIC on the bottle.....Gyeon all the way!
Looks like yet another case of marketing departments putting the word ‘Ceramic’ into more product names. Polar Seal however is an incredible quick to apply sealant. But I prefer traditional wax.
I'm laid up in bed with a sickness bug, my kids had it first, my car is absolutely filthy and the fact that I'm not well enough to clean her is breaking my heart 😢
Autoglym ceramic shampoo isn't for me. I'm at the point of detailing my own car using a pure shampoo, my absolute favourite is Carpro Reset. Then I'll use Gtechiq C2 after. That is the greatest beadage that combo makes me happy inside and the car looks dripping wet after it's dried 🎉 . Occasionally I'll use Bilt Hamber touch-on shampoo which looks a million times better then this product. BTW the Porsche is looking absolutely amazing!!! 🙌🙌🙌
Bottom line use it only with a ceramic coated car otherwise it’s rubbish. If you don’t have a ceramic coated paint protected car then use wax’s / hydrophobic sprays. The ceramic washes are designed to work with and beef up ceramic protected cars. Of course these companies will sell theses products for all cars as its easy 💰 .
Well that’s not for me if you need to add over 40ml of product not cost effective, excellent video John, loved how you wanted it to work 😂😂 but clearly it doesn’t
For the price of it i think i will stick with the polar seal, iv only used autoglym for the last 20 years now and still love them
Does Autogylm have any coating / sealant safe foam that can encapsulate dirt and break down road film?

Apart from the attempt of a I think German accent not a bad review. I wonder would you do a Jamacian or Indian accent?
Everting aireee!
Jon, does this affect tyre grip on the road? Waxy tyres don't sound ideal.
Really want to try this, but in Norway they are charging 48 GBP per bottle...insane pricing....
40 per cent off at biltma
@@royalanethridge333 They dont have autoglym at biltema 😅😅
Would of been interesting to compare the Autoglym shampoo conditioner against this product 😁
i’d like to understand why ppl foam up shampoo in the bucket. Surely you want the lubricity in the water not wasted on bubbles
That's not for me John but I'm loving your car❤❤❤❤
Dumb question - isnt that a 20L bucket? Thought they said 33ml in 10L?
Yer m8 but it's not full
@@ForensicDetailing hard to judge on video 😅
Polar seal does a better job of it on the hydrophobic side, for me that’s still the way I’d go John.
I think I'll stick with Polar Seal. Its a really top quality product
Surely cheaper, more effective and generally better to grab 10 packets of touch on and dump into a canon and bottle up for an easy to use spray and rinse sealant that will offer 4 weeks of protection with self cleaning properties.
Autoglym are catching up to the market, now they need to innovate
Try ethos grapheme shampoo few 🔥💪🙏
Why do people go so close with power washer lance ! It’s like shot blasting a surface ,do it around 2 metres away as your only washing the soap off🤯🤯🤯
because they know more than you. with the p55 at about a foot you get a good amount of push beyond 2 foot its not effective. when you get closer than 6 inches your in the high risk danger zone. If you blast from 2 meters away its close to pointless using it. but yer you know best... can depend on system and nozzle fan out angle to.
The turtle wax equivalent is great for beading.
No it's not
In my experience
Been Looking forward to this one
Probably stick to my Autoglym UHD shampoo then. But maybe in the summer as a top up. Nice video with interesting insights as usual thanks
"SUPER BEADING ACTION
Our Ceramic Wash & Protect contains ceramic technology which applies a fine protective hydrophobic layer to your vehicle after every wash. This helps water to beautifully bead after a rain shower, and speeds up drying your car after rinsing."
Blasting it with pressure washer also helps show a hydrophobic effect versus pooling water down it.
Ceramic / Graphene wash gels don't foam really as much so not surprised.
What is up my brother in detailing💗
Greetings to you to my brother. Have an awesome day.
Now try the Gyeon equivalent ❗️
I was wincing when watching you get your pressure washer lance head so close to the painwork. For me, I'm probably double that distance else you're risking removing the product youve just put on, and potentially the clearcoat.
When you put the shampoo in the bucket it doesn’t look the right amount to be 3 capfuls it looks less.
30ml used. then dosage upped to 60ml.
I have also found their products very chalky - but perhaps has changed
I'm laid up in bed with a sickness bug, my kids had it first, my car is absolutely filthy and the fact that I'm not well enough to clean her is breaking my heart 😢
Sheeting is protection though.
Snake oil
Carbon collective hybrid shampoo all day long
Well that’s not for me if you need to add over 40ml of product not cost effective, excellent video John, loved how you wanted it to work 😂😂 but clearly it doesn’t
Looks like total rubbish! So many better products available! Thanks for the video.
Great video but i not bying the autoglym
They're probably suggesting 33 washes in a 5ltr bucket like most Joe Bloggs will use.
I found you needed half a bottle to 10 litres
Nowhere near as good as Bathe+ from Gyeon ... that takes some beating!
They had their day... but have been well surpassed.
Their day will come
I would just ceramic coat my car ?
Great video, will know not to buy that looks rubbish no beading at all waste of money
It's far from good enough to be used by detailers, especially
