You can only imagine how many times I have wanted this over 30+ years of Westy ownership…thanks for the great video! Time for me to stop procrastinating and do it. 😜
No problem John. There is a link to the ignitors that I used in the description. Such a simple and worthwhile project. I used Rustoleum Satin Granite to repaint the entire front panel and the new panel I made. Then hit it with a few coats of satin clearcoat. Matches the stock grey decent. nate
Thanks John, but I definitely did not come up with this. I saw it and thought it would be a great addition and thought others could use a how to video to help. nate
@@scottpettitt5173 probes that sit in the edge of the flame path, connected to a shutoff valve that turns off the flow of gas if no flame is detected. I did away with the old Westy cooktop in favour of a modern SMEV / Dometic which has both. Cleaner burn, safer. To retrofit to the old stove one could repurpose the flame sensing gas valve from an old Westy fridge, one for each burner.
hmmm. interesting and worth doing to keep the girl happy 😀 Tempted but I do love the super strong sulfur smell of my long matches… kidding, this is worth it.
Awesome intro and love that it’s not a push push push sparker but like a rapid fire guy. Going to try this. Thanks!
agreed, we didn't want the loud manual clicking kind

So glad we could help! It is really not that bad of a job, just a bit time consuming. Good luck!

Okay the intro and outro was funny! This van is going to be so tricked out by the time you're done with it :)
Thanks, it was fun to make.

Lots of great ideas here!
Thanks! Super easy to do as well
Nate
I bought the same a year ago, but not installed them yet. Thanks for video 😀
Haha, it really is a worthwhile project!
Now on my list! Thank you for your time you put in showing all of us. BTW… what paint or ? Did you use to re do the metal panel under the stove top?

Does the whole stove top/cabinet have to come out?
No. I had the cabinet out to install the TF65. You only need to remove the faceplate to install.

add flame sensing and we'll then give the 👍
my previous westy and current one have both.
Don't even know what that is but we are happy with the ignitors and how it turned out.
nate
KarlosKelly, what is flame sensing? tell us what you did!

What kind of glue did you use ?
Just standard 100% silicone you can get at the hardware store.

Nice job kid. Next remote starter so ya don't have to even get up?
