  • Another beautiful spring weekend here in Seoul! Korea has been blessed with some absolutely gorgeous weather and with the situation here almost completely under control, I thought I'd finally venture to the other side of the river and visit a new cafe in Ikseondong along with my favorite palace in the city :) Hope you don't mind a bit of lazy at home content too, cause I have plenty of that. Sending love as always!!

You mentioned feeling a little self conscious about showing your outings lately but for me, it’s wonderful to continue to see your life in Seoul! I love your illustrations and sketches in the video too. :) Watching your videos helps me feel like I’m walking around with you and exploring even though I’m stuck inside.

I like that korean cafes are so calm and they actually let you stay after you finish your meal. In other places it would be like : "Do you want another coffee?" or basically get kicked out.

Hopefully, customers are at least self aware enough to order enough to make it worth it for cafe owners. Small cafe owners in Korea have said that some people just stay for 8 hours with their laptops and electronics being charged while only ordering 1 or 2 $1 coffees, so they're actually losing money.

    • @hopeborgmann6905

@@kimjack1000 I agree , I mean there has to be a balance . I just feel that it's rude to be asked to buy a new coffee or product in a cafe for example where prices start at like $6/7 every 30-45min. (for example). I just can't spend that much money . I know ...in that case that person could go to the library but it's just nice to work in a calm surrounding without any pressure still
staying conscious that you have to consume enough to actually help the owners. So I agree😊

This might sound a little bit repetetive, but I cant stress enough how much energy, inspiration and just happiness refill your videos bring me!💪🏻🌼 Watching someone who also loves things that I love(like going to cafés,walking in parks and taking pictures of trees and plants😂😁😍🍃 etc) is such a confidence booster! As someone who gets energy and can really enjoy my alone time, as well as exploring places on my own. Watching someone a little older than me showing that that is not something wrong or weird but simply my own way and that is okay means soo much to me and has brought me so much mental peace! Thank you as always!🌾🌸🧡🌼

I think people need to get fresh air when they can. Staying cooped up at home and not going out isn’t completely healthy either. Here in the states, I live near and work in, a really small country town. My parents have sixteen acres so I have plenty of space for fresh air.
Ughhh... I am so envious of all the great cafes you have there! 😭maybe one day I’ll get to Seoul.

Hi cari! I just wanted to say that brought up an interesting point about the greenery in cities. We've touched upon it during my geography lessons: the amount of greenery often has to do with in what time period the city was built. Because in cities that where build when they had someone of noble living in it (those from the middle ages / renaissance/ dynasties) often have not only a protective feature, like a city wall, but also places for leisure, like parks. Because people of status valued those things, as it was a luxury to have free time and to spend it outside doing nothing while in the shade. Even if those parks used to be owned by nobility they're now public spaces and owned by the government. You can see that cities build during industrial development and revolutions tend to have less greenery and often ones that have only been placed "recently". Because during those times people barely had any free time and no one in the city valued nature to the point they would invest money and time into creating a public space for it. Ofcourse in modern times even the cities build during industrial times try to put greenery into place, because we now know how good nature is for us.

And the music in your videos just creates this sense of wonder and child like curiosity. That's keeping my hope alive. I also feel that videos like this offer an idea of how we will slowly adjust to being in public spaces. I say this because S Korea was hit really hard by the rona before most places. I have such a long list of things I now want to see and do and also it gives me confidence to go alone.

Cari~ your daily life is aesthetic as ever. I am living in Seoul by the way but I really like watching how chill you are going about your day in this crazy city. When I think of Seoul, I see crowded sidewalks, busy people living with their fast-paced life, but when I see your videos, I honestly feel peace and somehow makes me realize I should look more on the brighter side. Haha please continue making these kind of contents~ Love you!

Cari I mentioned this on my Insta story, please don't be self-concious about these vlogs, you explained the situation in Korea, so the regulars here know it and we enjoy coming along with you! There's no fomo for me. Actually thanks to my allergies I can't enjoy spring like this anyway (I wish I could enjoy it more, but I usually stay inside), so it's really awesome how much it feels as though I'm there with you! And the vlogs are soooo relaxing to watch!
That café sketch was so pretty and the aesthetic of you stirring your drink in that last café, it's those little things that bring me joy.
Plus the Changdeokgung footage reminded me so much of places I've been to in China when I studied abroad there for a year! I got struck by memory so suddenly and intensely, it almost felt like homesickness (I'm European so it doesn't make sense, maybe call it travel sickness?)

I looooooove watching the videos of your outings! Whenever I'm starting to feel a little stuck and down, watching one of your vlogs is the surest way that I've found to energize me! During regular life, my favourite thing to do is go to for a walk around the city and end up at a cafe and read or draw or journal... and watching you do it is the next best thing to doing it myself. You are actually preforming a valuable public service by letting us live vicariously through you right now.

It is really suprising that Seoul has such massive and beautiful parks with abundance of greens!
Here in my city, Manila, the idea of the majority of parks are just not-so-big-scale turf with few benches and trees 😅
Can't wait until travelling outside is permissible again and I would definitely go straight to Seoul! 😆
P.S. Honestly, I'm grateful to watch your little travels in midst of this crisis since me myself couldn't do it here in my country because the ECQ rules are strict. But do always take care and keep safe~ ❤

So happy seeing the Secret Garden in this vlog! I absolutely fell in love with it the first time I visited Seoul (2011) and sworn to myself that if I ever had the chance to travel again to Seoul I must visit Secret Garden every time. So far, I've been back 2 more times, always beautiful, but I'm still hoping to see it in Autumn foliage and full bloom Spring.

Love, love, love your videos...especially ones like these. Makes me miss Seoul so much. I lived there for a year (in Korea for 2), and I still miss so many things...like the abundance of cafes, and the beautiful palaces and parks. It's truly a unique city, which, in even a year, I did not have time to fully explore. So I love going on these virtual tours with you, revisiting familiar places, and visiting new places. When you said, "if spring is ever going to come where you guys are.." I felt that 😅 In Finland it seems the weather can't decide if we're going to have the same temperature all year round, or is it going to warm up... No one knows, I hope the latter. I'm tired of having the same weather and temperature for over half a year now, so I hope everything starts to bloom. And that it will be at least 10 degrees celsius the upcoming month, please. The videos serve as some very charming escapism. I spent three years in Korea, one in Seoul. I often find myself getting pangs of regret having left and though Seoul is dramatically different than in 2009 when I moved there, accompanying you on some of these strolls is very comforting. I am an editor and dabble in some rather terrible writing here and there and Seoul has been creeping in to my writing a lot of late and when memory isn't serving me well, it is a joy to be transported there. Also, bloody marvellous soundtracks/music beds!

I'm from London and I think I remember reading that they're trying to make it a national park city, so it's 45% green at the moment including private gardens and they're trying to bump it up. Theres a green belt which means you can walk most of the way around the edge of the centre without leaving a park, and then there's Richmond park with deer in and sheep in Hyde park so I always think it's surprisingly green compared with other cities.

It's a never ending list of positive adjectives haha. You shouldn't feel bad or self-conscious, especially because I'm sure you still put a lot of effort in them! You're just too much of a perfectionist haha.
In any case, I love it when you draw. I couldn't draw anything myself even if my life depended on it, but seeing you, I think I'll give it a try. How you are able to simplify what you see enough to draw the lines, though, beats me 😌

If I'm being complety honest, about 2 week ago I coudn't watch some of your vlogs. Seeing you go outside (even with the mask) gave me so much anxiety.
But this past weeks I've accepted my country's situation (Uruguay) .. It's been about a month and a half that I'm staying at home as much as possible (I go to the supermarket once every 15 days or so and that's it) and to me.. watching you go outside and going to cafes and enjoying the sunshine gives me hope that one day in the future (months maybe? idk), we'll be able to do the same.
