There's a saying of sorts, "A camel is a horse designed by a committee." I'd say the Kepler R demonstrates the point.
I've never tried the group meditation option. It's pretty damn hilarious. Also Jules' passive-agressive smile just kills me.
Walter said he was gonna make it his personal ship. Guess he figured if he was gonna have to fly one, so did you 😂😂😂
If Stranger Things was British it’d be called
Bit Odd Innit?
What monster fits on the end of your finger?
The bogeyman!
31:35 - Walter said exactly the same thing to me, and I designed an absolute potato of a ship. It was so bad, it made the Frontier look good. It had no weapons, minimal cargo space, and it handled terribly. But it could carry a lot of passengers. Somehow Walter loved it. I immediately sold it.
PS. Minigun windup is purely for cinematic effect. The real thing fires instantly.
Really? 600 hours and I never checked. Just gave one to Andreja.
Guess I have FMDS, fallout minigun derangement syndrome 😂😂😂
@@wolfhors3_660 A wise decision.
The Kepler-R truly is a monstrosity of a ship. The engines and grav drive are the only bits worth keeping. Trash the rest. (Also, the absurd ladder drop from the docking port is a death trap! What were they thinking?)
I ended up scrapping and reorganizing quite a lot of it and was never able to get a perfect interior, but it had better mobility than the base frontier and was able to take out two of those D class boss ships.
So that's the Kepler R. I went for the Kepler S because I just wanted something to serve as a base and I actually thought what would be good for Stroud-Eklund to sell others. Glad for my choice. lol. Though... it would be all worth it just to have them go through the meditation exercise bit.
The "Sleep is for the WEAK" ship design.
I initially favored the explorer ship, but went with the fighter. And it wasn't half bad, actually. A few tweaks, loaded it up with Vanguard Obliterators and it kicked butt.
team building exercisers, that can never go wrong. as long as there is enough alcohol that is. :) you should have brought out the beer for them.
So much for being a family ship with only 1 cot. Weird it still has such a large crew capacity though. :(
(I swear it had more than one, but maybe I'm remembering a layout after some modification).
That said, I love the Kepler R features, but not its layout. Also, as you mentioned, it needs maneuverability. Its a great base to modify from, with appropriate skills and cash.
Ship speed is determined by the engine class, A class being the fastest and C class being the slowest. I typically run B and C combination for a good balance between speed and thrust. Also, you can get the mobility of the Kepler R up to 100 by simply reducing the fuel tanks and cargo it comes with.
The components from the Kepler R can actually be Frankensteined into a decent ship for combat and exploration.... you just need to scrap most of it and add a decent particle main weapon. Add a few more Stroud structural pieces, ditch the mess hall and add functional habs and you can end up with a really good C-class corvette. It's an excellent base for building the ship it should have been.
.. my thoughts exactly... one crummy bed for all. It should be called 'the Frankostein!'
It's nice that they included speech options for clumsy idiots like myself :) That is exactly how I would be in a presentation.
The 2x2 habs tend to be pretty nice tho you gotta travel to specific vendors for them if you're not using mods to put them in all locations or at an outpost shipbuilder.
They don't give you a means to really preview the habs before you invest in them, so this vid was handy early on with shipbuilding - ua-cam.com/video/g7hMVAqgoxg/v-deo.htmlsi=0lP8rNVnrb9-3MAV
This is the equivalent of Herb Powell letting Homer design "the new car for the average American" :'D
Yeah, it took me all of 30 seconds to say 'oh hell no!' and completely rebuilt that monstrosity! Lesson learned, only do one mission. I guess next NG will need to see what thing they make if I do just the passenger transport and not the fighter job.
I am currently using that ship after making a few adjustments to it. Lol.
I've been looking forward to this episode
Thank you. Defending that ship would be a pain. :)
By the time I received this.... thing, my upgraded Varuun donation was superior in every way. Thus, I've never even gotten in it. It sits in my collection of Nostalgic Unique Ships I have no use for.
Now that I think about it, I haven't built a Stroud-Eklund ship since getting this design catastrophe😂 You'd think Walter would want to make changes in his development team, but 🤷♂️
Is a ships crew all sleeping at the same time at any point? I think them all having their own bed would be kind of a waste of space.
Oh my! I think I have to say the Kepler S is a much better ship. I will be going the other design.
So I've done that quest twice and both times I think I picked the type of ship. So if you do the meditate thing they just decide themselves?
I think it has to do with going for the kitchen sink budget and doing the meditation thing. Not sure though. I had them all compromise and got the Kepler S.
I originally did the kitchen sink, compromise, and received the R variant. I believe it's solely based on budget.
Just so you know there is a way to sell a ship that's unregistered... Still not going to get a lot of money for it until you increase your economy skills.
@Gopher. Starfield has been getting some harsh reviews on Steam, Are they deserved after playing the game for so long?
It's episode #80. Does that tell you anything?
