Having spent some time in Canada for work I can definitely say that stalls in the US and Canada are a lot worse. They quite often start like 30 cm from the floor and end at like 170, so when you stand up you look over them, and you have like 1 inch gaps on both sides. Sure, some stores or restaurants have that here as well, but it is a small fraction. Most just have a wall all around the toilet and an actual door.

    • @lizb853
      @lizb853 2 роки тому +1

I may well be prejudiced, but I think the dutch mayonnaise is far superior to anywhere else in the world. And even better is the
Frites Saus. I could live of that, except i'm not supposed to eat that really due to excessively high cholesterol levels and Blood pressure problems. I'm actually resident in the UK, but everytime I go home to holland, I allow myself as a special treat one huge portion of patates met frites saus. Just the ONE portion, but it DOES make my time back home complete. Naturally though, I don't approve of licking the knife, etc and as for walking through the house with shoes on. Forget it. The pantoffels,( ie slippers) stand by the front door as you come in and you don't enter the rest of the house till you're wearing slippers or if you're not, yourl ife's not worth living for the rest of the day.

Okay, I am Dutch, and I definitely wanna react to this hehe. Here it goes.
1: I do lick my fingers after eating some good stuff :) Like, if I ate ice cream or something (which I don't do much because I'm eating very healthy). But this definitely ain't because I want every penny out of it. It is more, because I like the ice cream I ate, but even more, because I hate sticky fingers! After that I will wash my hands of course, because even licking my fingers doesn't get all the sticky stuff off.
2: I never, ever, EVER put my knife inside a jar of anything, and then lick it, and put it inside another jar. It's gross AF!!! I use my knife to put butter on my bread or my rusk, then I wash it, with hot water (the butter melts off itself). Then I dry it, and only then I put it in the jar of jam or something. If I want another rusk or slice of bread (or if I have to make two at the same time) I always wash the knife before I re use it. I do lick it sometimes, but after that I first have to wash it. You know hopw many germs are inside your mouth? No, I never ever lick my knife, and re use it. It is gross indeed. I also never use it, and just swipe it clean on my bread/rusk and re use it. It has to be washed first! Or I'll grab a new knife.
3: I do keep my shoes on in the house, yes. But when I came from a muddy place, and there's mud under my J's. I always take them off. So this is not true. Most people take them off. And I'm not sure what she means with ''white floors''?! If it is carpet, well, the person walking with muddy shoes over a white carpet is just weird. But if you have a white floor because of white flagstones. It's easy to clean, just a little water and a mop, and you're done. But then again, most people do take their shoes off when there's mud under it.
4: I do wash my hands after a toilet visit. But there's indeed people, who don't. It's pretty gross indeed. But I don't think it's a typical Dutch thing. This happens all over the world.
5: Most houses are put together that way that they have the toilet close to the entrance. It's a normal thing here. Especially if you're in a regulat attached rent house. You can do it differently when you buy a house of build your own house. I mean, I had some people I knew who lived in a villa district, and they definitely didn't have the toilets at the entrance. But it's a pretty normal and common thing in the Netherlands. Also, it's probably because houses in the Netherlands are way smaller than the houses in US! I mean, we pay a whopping €200.000 for a regular small attached house here with 4 rooms (3 sleeping rooms and a living room) and one toilet, a small shower and a very small front and backyard. In USA you could buy a huge detached house with a big ass drive up, 8 rooms, 4 bathrooms and so on. It's a huge difference.
6: In the Netherlands people do have a bidet. And some do use toilet paper with water on it to clean it a bit more. So this statement is false. Not everyone has it though. And if I could choose myself, I probably would want a bidet hehe, just to make things easier for myself. But I don't have one, and I couldn't care less. I just wipe with toilet paper. And if needed, a few drops of water. After that, I'll obviously wash my hands with soap (which I always do)
7: I think we used to have a sink in one of our bedrooms. But the last owner removed it. I'm not sure why, but I also don't know why we would have a sink in our bedroom. Especially if it would drip, I would go bananas and won't be able to sleep with that lol. It's weird. But I actually also do not know anyone who has a sink in they rooms.
    8: I don't understand what the guy says @02:22 :/
9: Yes, we are pretty direct. Going to the toilet (or, the WC) ain't no secret at all I guess. Everyone knwos what you're gonna do if you're going away from the table for a moment haha.
10: I only put my bag on the floor when inside. I won't do it outside, because I don't want it to get dirty. I mean, if it was a regular bag or something, but I also have a pretty expensive bag (€200) which is a gaming backpack, and I definitely ain't putting that on the floor.
11: Picking they nose (in je neus peuteren) is world wide. Everyone does this every now and then. Yes, sometimes I do this too, but that's mostly because there's something inside which annoys me. After that, I wash my hands. Or I do it with a piece of paper towel. But I only pick my nose when blowing my nose ain't working, and it needs to get out. It's annoying. I rather don't pick my nose. I also do know some people, who pick they noses, and eat their loot after that... And this is just disgusting! Sorry, no other words for it. Don't touch me anymore when you do this please lol.
12: Having sex is great obviously :) But please, keep it in a private place lol. Although, I did do some weird and exciting stuff with my ex back in the days. I won't go into detail haha, but I can tell ya, it was fun. And of course we made sure no one could see us. Because no one will be happy if they dwould've seen this. (It was dark, and trees everywhere, so no one could see it)
13: I often eat my food (I never eat uitsmijter though) as whole as possible. Most people for example cut they pizza in 12 slices. I rather make only 4 slices and eat it like that haha. It's all personal I guess what you prefer.
14: ''Sinterklaas'' and his helpers throw ''kruidnoten'' over the ground. Indeed kids obviously grab it, and eat it. I've done this back in the days, but it was always inside the house. If they threw it outside, I wouldn't have grabbed it in the first place. I don't eat off the ground outside lol, it's nasty.
15: I do eat mayonnaise, but I don't really like it that much. I do use it on my fries, and I also use it on some foods. But not on rice. It's weird. I did use ketchup and mayonnaise on my rice back in the days. But I rather have a good hot sauce on it hihi. I love hot sauce!
Hope it was interesting to read this. You guys are great, and you, who reads this. YEAH YOU!!! You are a great wonderful person too. Love you all! Peace out, wherever you're from.

Putting your own saliva into a container of something isn’t good, even if no one else has access to your kitchen. In a family household, double dipping your chips or something isn’t unheard of, but contents are usually not in the container and have been transferred to a bowl. Kids get in trouble for drinking out of jugs in the fridge because they aren’t conscious of their back wash, and even adults aren’t completely immune from this. It’s not about germs, it’s about food/drink storage.

If i walk in someone’s house i always ask where to put my shoes and if they say just leave them on i feel oncomfortabel. Alot of dutch people walk with their shoes in the house even when there is mud on it, i will never understand this. I never saw a sink in someone’s bedroom. Never in my entire life. For being so open about going to the toilet is so true, it’s so normal to us it almost sound unbelievable they don’t do that🤣 as for cutting the meat in pieces and then eat it, i never saw an adult do this. For the mayonnaise im kinda offended, we really put it on everything. It’s a sauce I honestly can’t live without and poke bowl with mayonnaise is for me the best rice you can ever taste. I eat mayonnaise with fries, and all types of patatoes, i put mayonnaise in my spinach and mash it under my patatoes. I put it on sushi, i put it on pasta with tuna. I changed those habits in adulthood and it’s been so much better for hygiene! Especially not being able to use water in the restroom when I’m not home got me feeling disgusting.

I don't know where these people were in the Netherlands? But, I know for a fact that they have mud rooms and they do take their shoes off, or where they have gone to restrooms? All the rest rooms I used out in public had doors or stalls were you couldn't see what the other person was doing.. or washing there hands!? Come on people? And almost having sex in pubic... He even said he thought they were drunk? I'm sure that happens in other countries too. And I'm sure you there are people in other countries that don't wash there hands! And what is so bad about Dutch Mayonnaise? I lived it! My adopted Dutch family must have taken me to the right places.. Every country has weird things that they do that others think is weird or disgusting..! ! I find the Dutch culture fascinating! From their toilets, to using Dutch mayo, to everything in between.. I always watch your videos.. And I find them funny. but this one was a bit Stupid.. This is just my opinion.

Actually, calling out that your going to poop is sort of a service. A lot of Dutch people live in homes with just 1 toilet and it's not very nice to have to pee after someone stank up the place. So having someone announce what they're going to do gives you an opportunity to use the bathroom first if you need. Not that everyone does this (by far!) but it does have a use. Also, since becoming a parent, I've started announcing that I'm going to the toilet so everyone knows to watch the kid and she knows that I will not be there for her for a bit. I expect this habit to wear off after a few years, but these people might have been in homes or at dinners with young parents. Just saying there are reasons 😇
