When a Dutch person does not comment on something that is 'wrong' (i.e. a stain on clothes, a spot on your teeth) you should be asking yourself if they care enough about you..
They dont care. You can point out endless times how you are really unwell but it wont register. Obviously not used to real honest dialogue..think you are acting despite your palour and obvious fatigue.
When I was in Holland, I went on some dates with Dutch men and I was incredibly impressed. The honesty was so refreshing. So, I’m gonna spend the rest of my life looking for a Dutch man. 😁

I'm Italian and I'm with my dutch boyfriend for a year and a half now and I could never go back! In the beginning, I needed time to get used to his ways of saying or things in general. He was really honest and direct and I was not used to, but what surprised me most (in a positive way) is how he approached me: in a very sweet and respectful way. Now, after I learnt how he is (especially his weirdness), omg I can't think to stay with other people of other nationalities (even mine) ahah. Dutch people are amazing! I have, of course, a subjective view, but this relationship taught me a lot, exactly how you said, so I can definitely say that no matters how will go between us I'm already grateful for the possibility to have a dutch person next to me. I learnt so many new things and new ways of seeing things that I can't even explain! Loved your video! :)
This type of honesty feels so refreshing. It feels like most younger men here in the US, when they realize they aren’t interested anymore, continue to do just the bare minimum to keep someone interested in them because they like the attention, or are scared of rejecting someone, and it creates a confusing and miserable experience that only ends by ghosting, which I find to be incredibly cruel. I’m sure women do this too, but I don’t have experience there. I’ve only had one man say “I can tell you want more than me, sorry it’s not gonna happen,” and it bummed me out for an evening, but after that I was able to completely respect him, and occasionally stay in contact on friendly terms. It was great.
I’m Mexican American, but I’m very genuine, direct, honest/ transparent and highly value those qualities in others. Here in America it’s difficult to find people who don’t sugarcoat things. I enjoy genuine and direct people. The what you see is what you get types. It’s refreshing. 😊👍✨
I have a current online friend who is a Dutch and I can really say he is very direct to the point and he will tell you what they really think and feel about. I can say they are really confrontational people. Hehe

My boyfriend is Dutch, I am Mexican, and we have had some cultural shocks... but with time and honest conversations we have learned to make everything smooth. We both have grown up so much together. I am not sure that I wouldn't have achieved this much if I were with a person from another country. Dutch men rock!
I like a Dutch guy very much but in my culture men usually take the initiative. If a woman does, she is considered desperate or pushy. How do I let him know I really like him without appearing desperate?
In The Netherlands women take initiative also, so I would not really bother about that. You can always just ask him if he considers you just as a friend or more.
Well honestly I think by my own experience (as dutch) just tell him, and don't worry about that it might be sounding desperate. If I experience that myself and liked her aswell that would be so awesome. Like for real haha..
I'm American and with a Dutchman. I can see why we get along - I'm super direct and also a bill-splitter and a bunch of other similarities. Frankly the Dutch way of speaking - being forthright about everything - is the most sensible way to exist in the world!! I just don't understand why people in the States don't communicate in the same manner. It causes so many headaches. The Dutch way is what we call assertive - not passive-aggressive, not aggressive, not passive. It is a sign of true psychological health. I think most US men just found me to be offputting given all my opinions and directness, but now that I'm with a Dutchie I feel understood and loved!
I started talking to this dutch guy and after the first day of texting, he started saying how much he liked me. At first I was kinda like huh this is weird cause its only been a day but now it makes total sense.
I made a mistake, I fall in love with a Dutchman. Its too late now since adapting to the culture and customs wasn't that hard. Admiring them even more, and one thing I liked bout my lad is we don't even have to be fancy and also their bargaining skills.
Last year, a dutch guy confessed to me after a week of talking and then we dated (LDR). This year on February, he broke up with me. I uninstalled the app we chatted on. Few months later, I reinstalled that app. Turns out he messaged me he missed me several weeks after our breakup. It's been awhile but I still replied "huh? oh lmao". I thought he'll never talk to me again but he still did. He told me he has a new gf now. I wasn't jealous, but I still replied to his messages respectfully out of my "people pleaser" habit. Ngl, I was concerned how he still compliments me even if he has a new gf. I felt guilty for the girl. So I uninstalled that app again. Hopefully he'll forget about me and focus on his new partner. Several weeks later I reinstalled it cuz I want to join the live stream of my schoolmates. This time I'm even more shocked. He sent me heart emojis almost everyday. Eventually, he told me he tried to contact me before he broke up with that girl because he missed me (but I uninstalled the app so... Lol). I didn't agree to date him again, but he said he can't help his feelings. Currently, he still messages me. What the heck does this mean lol
I have a online friend who is dutch, he pretty much made me want to date a dutch guy because of how straight forward he is. Like everything you listed! I love it. Wish more dutch came to the US lol.
@@ItsTheAlfaa He probably just listens to our media and is most likely left wing like our media. No real Dutch man refuses to go there. Maybe he has a criminal record and knows he can't get the ESTA?

Let’s be efficient : I’m a 30 yo French junior doctor in huisarts, working in the French speaking part of Belgium. I prefer the « Germanic » part of Europe and just started learning Dutch at the moment because it’s the closest Germanic culture from my place. I am seriously thinking of moving the the Netherlands once I’ll have my specialist diploma in huisarts. I’m gay, single, monogamist, and looking for a serious long lasting relationship. And gosh, I would be more than open to getting to know you better ;)
I have just started a relationship with a Dutch and he is very up front and very direct with his wants and how he thinks things should be, these videos are helpful, because I would normally back away, but he really is special, so thank you... I'll give this more time to build 😉since I'm learning that it's just how they can be. I'm from California, so we're definitely different.

Ik like this video. You explained it well. I'm gonna send it to my USA gf I'm talking to and wants to come visit The Netherlands. I'm sending her more videos (links) about The Netherlands anyway. She already knows I'm very direct and honest (and did meet me some years ago) and she is the same. Now we are to old to have (more) kids but most of all for young people into an international/intercontinental relationship I think it is very important to talk about this stuff in an early stage. It could prevent you from investing time and money in some relationship that's never gonna happen. Same with religion, political views, where you wanna live, etc. They don't always match. You did mention the honesty and efficiency and that's what it's about. I think the difference with other cultures are often the cause of misunderstandings and therefor expectations. Chatting with a female (or person) abroad on a regular basis does not automatically mean we see it as having a relationship like in partners. We'll usually tell if that's our goal. To prevent this different expectations and disappointments we need that honesty.
I couldn’t agree with you more. I am very direct person and have learned throughout my many different culture experiences who I can do that with. If I know someone is very sensitive and they ask my thoughts on something, I always let them know I would rather not or let them know my thoughts directly. And if they get offended or hurt, then I just shut them out. I’m sorry, but this is not a picture perfect world we live today. You must be strong minded, but compassionate. I never say anything negative about a person and if someone is negative around me I separate myself from that person or toxic relationship. There is enough negativity in this world and I don’t feed into it. Sorry! Got a little out of hand there, but since you asked (no pun intended!).
God, I relate to the dutch attitude so much! Unfortunately I live in Italy, and I have to admit that here being so honest and direct doesn't always pay off xD
This reminded of my only Dutch crush up to date. He was a semestre in my country, Chile, and we dated. I loved his directness when it came to the honesty about our "agreed temporal, open relationship". However, his directness when requesting something and when meeting new people was sometimes seen as rude, but I knew it was a cultural difference. For example, the first time I invited him to my flat he suddenly said: 'I'm hungry, do you've some food?'. That shocked me, because for me it was too over familiar for the first time. Time later I remembered this to him and told him we almost always ask for things in long kind ways, with excuses and a big PLEASE, overall when we don't know the other person so well. He replied "well, if I said 'I don't wanna be so familiar, but I'm hungry, so would you maybe have something to eat, please'?, it would have been way longer but it means the same" 😂
Thanks for your video. As a Brit-American expat artist living in Amsterdam for many years, this explains a lot. And coming from a culture where the men normally make the first moves and take the risk, i've just thought i was unattractive to the Dutch, rarely being pursued or asked out. and unfortunately, i think from my cultural background, that has also become something attractive to me. Someone wanting me so much From my perspective, in general, Dutch men seem lazy and spineless to not approach me with their 'honesty' when actually interested in me. the fact they don't, makes me uninterested in them. so it's a feedback loop. and having recently made a new good Dutch Girlfriend, i'm beginning to understand a lot more. she says i probably don't realize when a Dutch person is interested in me... the way of flirting and courting is strange and appears non existent to me. but when i tell her things, like a man whistles a tune around me, she says they were flirting, huh? i love to hear a whistle, but never in my wildest dreams would think that was, hey baby i like you. I do find this 'directness' rude, not because it's honest and direct, i love honesty, it just feels like oftentimes the Dutch don't consider how something they say is meant to make you feel. like, what are they being honest about, why and how, like there is a selffishness to needing to know something, i believe they don't need to know nor care all that much,, personally, i'm very romantic and love style, fashion, and creativity aswell, so in general, the 'Dutch' approach is not a match for me. I'm always confused how the culture got this way, when the Dutch seem to take so many holidays and travel so much, i would expect them in general to be more worldly.
I totally agree. They are rather serious and it seems that romantic touches and artful use of language are uninteresting too them. Its all very puritanical except for the sex. Practical is great but whimsy allows us to be transported. I do wonder how they got where they are, obviously close connection with Germany has something to do with it. Ive given up on the people of Allemagne, where ever they are. I grew up in a place with many Dutch people. They were hardworking, cold, serious uninspiring people who seemed to get no joy from life. This is the Calvanistic influence.
@@MsMesem As a Dutch guy, I think you're about right in terms of the Calvinistic/Protestant influence of our culture. However, this really depends on where you are. In general, people in the big cities and in the north tend to be the way you describe them, but under the river Rhine and in smaller villages this Calvinistic undertone isn't really that prominent, since it's always been Catholic. Adressing the argument about the stubbornness and lack of joy in life; I see what you mean, and in some ways, it's true, but you always have to take into account that different cultures have different understandings of 'joy' and 'inspiration', and therefore it's more or less subjective. For example, Dutch humour is some weird shit, especially to people who didn't grow up with it, and can be misunderstood quite easily. In terms of 'being romantic'... yeah no we really do suck at that part. So yes, we can come across as cold, stubborn pricks, and some of us are, but it depends on who you've met and where you've been. Amsterdam and it's people don't really represent 'the Dutch'.
I'm a Finn my self and my bf is Dutch and i can see the similarities in our culture. No small talk but straight to the point and honesty is one of the major factors in our culture as well. Keeping ppl at a distance just to see who they really are before really opening up to them.

i am brazilian and i identify with most of what you said even though my own culture is pretty different from yours. that said, i thought i was straightforward, but you guys are on a whole other level. i dated this dutch guy for more than a year and he once said he found his own opinion on films (i study cinema) to be very poor and unintelligent with the utmost honesty that i found it almost heartbreaking to hear, but he was completely unbothered by it. that kind of brutal honesty about everything, himself included, made me fall for him (he's my fiancé now).
dating a Dutch Man is super easy, like as a lady if you Go for groceries the few important things for the Dutch man is: Coffee, cheese, Bruin bread ,shag, Heineken or wafels and pinda butter 🤣, this are the most popular things you must buy often
This is so ideal since I hate how here in America how people aren’t just straightforward with their thoughts and feelings. I value honesty over trying to be “nice” it’s always so isolating since people tend to find me too direct.
There's a very fine line that differentiates "honest" from "rude", and sometimes that line just gets blurred and the two get mixed... Moral of the story: you can't just say everything that comes to your mind without any filters! It might actually be full-on rude! Period.
I’m really curious about dating a Dutch guy I’m planning a trip to the Netherlands hopefully pretty soon and I’m seriously thinking about moving there and I wanna be able to find love there before I make the move and have nothing or no one to talk to
"We always have the feeling that people are taking advantage of you..." this is what I feel is challenging about the Dutch. Also like the way Dutch people don't like when north Americans say "hey! how are you?" is a reflection of some kind of skepticism, lack of trust of others, which is not the Canadian way. As a Canadian our default is happy, open, welcoming and trusting. Dutch ppl tend to lean into stereotypes a lot more; they make generalizations about Canadian and Americans - often sweeping Canadians under the same brush as Americans.
I can imagine, because for many Dutch, Canada and the USA are all 'north America'. I am Dutch and have travelled to both Canada and the USA and from my experience, there is a huge difference between the both of you. Wow! The Canadians were much more friendly, interested in others and knew what was going on in the rest of the world.
Coming from Croatia we have a same approach to dating, we like to know where we stand im relationship or wheter is a starting phase like we dont like to take things slow and we are also very upfront and direct when it comes to getting to know someone. Therefore I relate so much to Dutch mentality
Dutch men were all over me so fast. I’m an American female and I actually liked the direct vibe. One guy walked right up to me and kissed me so hard on my mouth after introducing himself. He was super handsome, so I wasn’t turned off, but I didn’t expect an instant make-out kiss. I was only there for 6 weeks, but I am sure I would have 3 kids by now how fast the Dutch move. I heard the Dutch love Americans cause our Grandfathers saved their asses during WW2…So, they have this grateful attitude unlike the English who lost America. They can’t get over that failure. Haaa! But I loved Holland. I should have stayed a year. I’m sure I wouldn’t have left tho. 😄
I met a dutch guy over tinder a few days ago he is so hard to read is he into me or not he is texting me .. but im not sure is he being polite haha .. im usually so good at this also he hasnt seemed to ask me any questions . Its mostly been me ... but then again he was visiting ireland and he has had to travel back so could be tiredness.. i do hope it blossoms into something i like him alot

Hi, I just came across your video which very informative. Im talking to a Dutch man now. We have not seen each in person yet. We just talk for a month thru messnger. And he told me his wife died months ago and he has 1 one year old son. And he said he is looking for a woman to be his wife and a future mother to his son. He wanted to visit me on Dember and he wants me to luve with him in Netherlands. Is this okay? I just want to know if this okay. Hr has tats, is this okay?
Talking about calling. I have been living in Holland for more than 2 years. What I found is that the culture here doesn't really like calling. Guys prefer texting and they don't call you back when you called them which I think it's so rude
@@greentea-dg7ht well you can find plenty of Dutch men. Maybe it's this guy maybe another. I hope for you you find someone though. I believe your odds with especially Dutch men would be high. Enjoy your life to its maximum extend. Things will happen if you always make steps forward.
Hi Deniz, i have been feelin some tension between a guy at work and me for some months now ... a lot of eye contact and all;) ... 3 weeks ago, when i was on my way to the bushalte from work, he was on his bike, saw me, got off, gave me company until the busstop and we ofcourse chatted. He as also complimented me for how easy i am to understand after a presentation i gave at work. But everytin aside, the fact that he gave my company, chatted AND GOT OFF HIS BIKE is sending me very strong signals. Wat do you have to say? He lives in Kampen, a religiously conservative area of NL but i am curious to ear wat yu have to say! P.S. I dont know if he is gay/bi/curious etc.
You are the one who should learn other cultures, if you go to another country with different culture, of course you're the one who should adapt theirs, you don't ask them to adapt or understand yours

I was born in different country but recently i found out that I'm real dutch nothing made me surprised when I found out about Dutch people I'm one of them and I have always been it's unbelievable incredible.
Gonna rate your points as I watch! 1. That's...a good thing?? People in North America really really like to ghost and don't know what a straightforward answer is lolll 2. Good. A first date at a coffee shop is so much better than me trying to pretend I'm not dying in a pair of stilettos 3. Again...this is a pro to me! Having to wait 3-4 dates before asking "Do you want kids?" is super nerve wracking. I HATE having to tiptoe around deep questions. 4. YES! GOOD! I AM ALL ABOUT PLANNING MY FUTURE. Y E S WHERE ARE THE CONS SIR?
I’ve just started dating a Dutchman, we have had a couple of good dates and he tells me he wants a 3 rd date, though there seems no hurry around a 3rd date. His also hopeless at texting. Help? Do I give up and move on, or be patient.
As your time is valuable then you don't need waiting for his decision and you just contact with him and tell him your idea and your boundaries. Then you are not appeared from the place of Desperation or needy…and it shows up you are one who respect for your time and your life… e.g just tell him " I am respect for your decision or whatever you think about but if you want to have me I would like …(you can say as you really wish). Just be self-confident!!!
I dated a Dutch man for a month and got into n argument one day then the next day he stopped contacting me and blocked me. Yeah that hurt a lot. Still haven’t fully moved on.
Do Dutch mean start talking sexually after the first encounter? Like everything you said is accurate after meeting me but I notice he was really focused on my boobs lol. Does he see me as easy?

Omw this is so true.......😂 the straight forward questions can be a bit weird...maybe its best to give a person time to open up before just throwing questions at them
Well! I am in doubt and still confused! I've met a Dutch man online and yes he don't text much and I would be the one waiting for his replies and when on a call he sound more like an African guy speaking English 😂 and I ask him to have a video call with me but he gave reason saying he installed an app that didn't allow a video call and that's for his security purposes! I can't believe that crap but somewhere I believe him.. idk what to do! 🙄
Oh God hahahaha " You look so much better now" I am from Brazil and I would feel so bad too haha but I got what you mean...Well, next time for non dutch person you can say: wowww you look amazing today, this shirt fits perfectly :P
i think it's not uncommon, This depends on the person. But it might have something to do with the fact that dutch woman are always very independent and do the same thing with guy friends. So why wouldn't he do the same with his friends who are girls.
Thank you for reply. But i am not a dutch girl and also he live far away from me..He always telling me everything that happen in his life, like the result of his medical check up or when he cut his finger when he cook.. But maybe he just feel lonely cause i know dutch people are individual..

My boyfriend is Dutch, I am Mexican, and we have had some cultural shocks... but with time and honest conversations we have learned to make everything smooth. We both have grown up so much together. I am not sure that I wouldn't have achieved this much if I were with a person from another country. Dutch men rock!
As an American, that was how I was brought up, honest and upfront. Most guys don't handle that well.
Nice profile pic bro
I like a Dutch guy very much but in my culture men usually take the initiative. If a woman does, she is considered desperate or pushy. How do I let him know I really like him without appearing desperate?
In The Netherlands women take initiative also, so I would not really bother about that. You can always just ask him if he considers you just as a friend or more.
by simply telling him you like him
Well honestly I think by my own experience (as dutch) just tell him, and don't worry about that it might be sounding desperate.
Relatable lmao! But in my case it was after one week! XD I was like "?!!!! Well that was quick?! O.o"

no idea why i’m watching this in the middle of the night but i’m hooked 🍿👀
I made a mistake, I fall in love with a Dutchman. Its too late now since adapting to the culture and customs wasn't that hard. Admiring them even more, and one thing I liked bout my lad is we don't even have to be fancy and also their bargaining skills.
Remember a person who finds only get
Last year, a dutch guy confessed to me after a week of talking and then we dated (LDR).
Apparently he's still interested in you
Wow... I'm hooked to this story and my heart yelped at the end... 😢.. You two should meet
What are these men doing with the new gf if they miss the old one? So messed up
I dated a Dutch guy and he ghosted me. I messaged him over and over and he ignored me lololol
😂😂 ok that’s just rude lol
Barbie Velazquez Yep....absence makes the heart grow fonder. To much messaging kills.
RON KALKHOVEN huh? He’s the one who always talked first since he’s 6 hours ahead. It was just one day he stopped talking to me all together

Barbie Velazquez i can tell, sorry for that.
I have a online friend who is dutch, he pretty much made me want to date a dutch guy because of how straight forward he is. Like everything you listed! I love it. Wish more dutch came to the US lol.
Dutch people (also guys) are everywhere but we are also very willing to travel. We love traveling. Everybody has a passport here.

My Dutch friend is genuine but never make me uncomfortable. Very delicate and not piercing at all.

My dutch bf was a compulsive liar SMH. Luckily, not all dutch guys are like this.
They come up with pretty thin stories.

Yes you should! I’m gonna make some more videos too
@@DenizF Keep the vidz coming ;)
One coming up today!
Damn maybe im secretly dutch, i could relate with a lot of things you said maybe i should date a dutch guy
Oh if you’re Italian! Please check out the video that will be tonight on my channel.. I think you’ll love it! And that’s alllll I can day for now
italian and dutch people are in this the same and not so much different
Guarda che tra l'essere diretti ed essere maleducati c'è un confine davvero sottile.
He replied "well, if I said 'I don't wanna be so familiar, but I'm hungry, so would you maybe have something to eat, please'?, it would have been way longer but it means the same" 😂
I must find a Dutch man. I prefer the blunt honesty. You know exactly where you stand and no time is wasted. Surprised this is even seen as rude.
i agree, well, i found my Dutch Man, we're married now with two kids :) x
I am not dating yet..we met through online. ..and in the process of getting to know each other online.

Meu Deus 🤣 aí gente, quero
dating a Dutch Man is super easy, like as a lady if you Go for groceries the few important things for the Dutch man is: Coffee, cheese, Bruin bread ,shag, Heineken or wafels and pinda butter 🤣, this are the most popular things you must buy often
Haha 😂😂
This is so ideal since I hate how here in America how people aren’t just straightforward with their thoughts and feelings. I value honesty over trying to be “nice” it’s always so isolating since people tend to find me too direct.
There's a very fine line that differentiates "honest" from "rude", and sometimes that line just gets blurred and the two get mixed... Moral of the story: you can't just say everything that comes to your mind without any filters! It might actually be full-on rude! Period.
I totally agree with you. It seems just an excuse to be rude.
Croatia is not a European country
Texting seems unwelcome.
