    The simple fact the groomsman had a much better environment and had less fighting and rules etc..shows how one-sided and misogynistic his dad was. I feel bad for the bride and I'm glad she stood up to the father in law.

      All of these comments criticizing a culture youre not apart of and dont know anything about are showing your ignorance. If you dont live it you dont know it. Stereotypes and stories of specific experiences dont speak for an entire group of people. Just like any and all groups there will always be bad and good aspects /people in it. Dont judge what you dont understand.

    I don't understand how it is the bride's responsibility to pay the higher fee. She should have paid what she was quoted by the other artist, and the other MUA should have paid for the last minute substitute MUA.

    • @CaitOnTheGo
      @CaitOnTheGo 5 років тому +49

      I mean, sort of understand that, but the MUA cant be held accountable, the person paying for the MUA has to pay the full amount.

    • @Simpleplanqueen5
      @Simpleplanqueen5 5 років тому +230

      I agree. I think the other make up artist should have paid the difference. If I was the bride I’d be EXTREMELY ANGRY if my makeup artist set up another artist and i had to pay extra because the 1st one F’d up

    • @jackiejohnston202
      @jackiejohnston202 5 років тому +96

      Or the original MUA should have contacted the bride and let her know she found a replacement and what the new quote was, then let the bride decide. Oh well, the FIL paid anyway.

    • @mirsey93
      @mirsey93 5 років тому +40

      I mean we don't know if the bride was actually quoted a smaller amount. She could have just been saying that, we don't actually know. Regardless, this makeup artist bust her butt to get there on time to do the other MUA and this bride a favour, she was run around and around and around in circles for HOURS with no clear answers and it was incredibly unorganized. You should never expect someone to go head over heels to provide you the best service at the last minute for your bridal party of 10 PEOPLE and not expect to pay a pretty price for it. Last minute options are never cheap and no bride should try to take advantage of such a service being provided at the last minute.

    I’m middle eastern/Muslim and I can tell you, YOU ARE VERY RESPECTFUL and I applaud you for that! I’m tired of people coming up here simply painting all of us Muslim middle eastern people in one color. Some middle eastern countries have weddings in which men and women are seated in the ceremony together, therefore, if you are a Muslim women who wears hijab, you wear it to hide your beautiful hair from them. If you have a wedding in which there are only women in the banquet hall (like mine) you do whatever the heck you want, however the heck you want. The father in law or whatever the heck she was overreacted but that doesn’t mean all of us do that? I accidentally walked out in front of a few men without a hijab, I wasn’t told anything nor was it spoken about nor was it considered to be an issue just a simple mistake. It’s overreacting that all and the pressure of a wedding ceremony not to mention a big fat middle eastern one. Damn stressful, you have to have everything right and over the top.
    I THINK ITS TOTALLY UNFAIR, THAT PEOPLE ARE STEREOTYPING US TO BE THE SAME, BASED ON WHAT THEYVE HEARD OR SEEN FROM OTHERS. This is what makes me, a California born and raised gal , lose my self esteem. when I go out to ANYWHERE because I always feel like everyone hates me for things they do not know. By the way your make up is BEAUT EEEE FULL

    • @darkwingduck643

      I think Middle Eastern/Muslim weddings are so beautiful, very lavish and a big celebration of family religion and food. PS. My grandfather was from Indonesia/ Muslim he was married to my grandmother Puerto Rican for 42 yrs they were the best and kindest ppl you could ever meet.
      Thank you for your comment some ppl do stereotype.

This was a year and a half ago and now with a bridal party that size, and for my travel, I would charge probably double that. Also, for those asking if I included tip or if they gave me a tip - the answer is no :( but I learned very valuable lessons that day and I haven’t had a stressful day like that one since!

      Angelica Champagne what part of Islam is objectifying? Just wondering cause everyone seems to be an expert on Islam when they haven’t read the Quran once, never had a conversation with an actual Muslim, or even bothered to look up the definition of the actual word Islam (literally means peace in Arabic). It’s a false narrative that political media has forced onto Muslims (that the women are oppressed) when that is not the case. Wearing the hijab is not a requirement for Muslim women, it’s a choice for herself and nobody else. Some women don’t mind showing a little hair or have various ways of styling their hijabs. Would really appreciate if you educate yourself about what your talking about before speaking, especially in today’s culture. 😉

    This is so frustrating, but I am FULLY AWARE that middle eastern and Indian wedding are different but have very similar concepts when it comes to MAKEUP*****. I have worked countless weddings from both areas and they are almost the same when it comes to MAKEUP****. Also, as mentioned in the video, I was unsure of where exactly the bride was from and it was either somewhere in the Middle East (not to mention that Egypt is in fact considered a part of the Middle East..) or from India, so I was speaking generally*** as to not give any false information. I feel like this was expressed in the video but it seems I need to clarify once again.

    These weddings are so much fun (actually), the energy is great and everyone loves to dance. The reason for the stacks of cash: literally all night everyone keeps chucking wads of notes at the bride and groom (also at the drummers/ band/ singer). It's really funny to watch, just large note bills being shoved in hands, thrown on keyboards etc. I swear I've seen less cash thrown around at high end strip clubs, it's proper bananas.

Also, it's not the family or the husband's decision about whether or not she wears it, it is strictly the woman's decision and no one should determine whether or not she wears on. I'm from Canada and we've had sick, sick cases of young women murdered by their fathers/brothers for not wearing a hijab. I am respectful of other cultures and hope the best for everyone, but am not stupid enough to believe that it's a choice devoid of pressure or shame or threats of some variety and we need to stop blindly propagating such a myth. 😰 my 2 cents

    Word of advice. I have had trouble before getting money from clients. It sucks big time! Don’t feel embarrassed about asking for payment! You earned it! You worked hard for it. You are an artist who deserves to be paid. People don’t work for nothing! If clients are holding up payments, charge them for the extra time you have to wait... and let them know this. You would be surprised at how quickly, they pay when they know you are still on the clock. After all, that is your time you spend away from family, friends etc.

      Imagine if the bride had started crying or something and ruined her makeup and needed it redone too.. ugh. I went to mua school and we had to do makeup on each other all the time and some people with sensitive skin the makeup will never look good the second time and you’d only get one shot. My skin is like that personally.

    I feel like its worth noting that many Arabs are actually christian and that includes much of the Middle East and Egypt so one should be careful in lumping cultures together (NOT SAYING YOU DID THAT). Also, strict practice enforcing hijab or other forms of headwear is not always as extreme as highlighted in this story. I married into a Lebanese Muslim (Muslims are a minority in Lebanon) family and no one one in my immediate or extended family, or even our friends is this strict about enforcing wearing of the hijab. Every family, whether Muslim, Christian, Jewish etc. has varying levels of patriarchal influence or religious interpretations.

    Wearing the scarf isn't the choice of the husband or family whatsoever---it's the woman herself. When the man met his future wife, she was either wearing a scarf or not wearing one, and that's the way he accepts her. He has no say in how she dresses--he just met her!

    I rarely comment on videos like this, but here's my thoughts 😂🤔 I'm a professional makeup artist. I do bridal parties too. I would have never charged extra for it being last minute. Travel yes. But you had no plans. You were making money anyways and could have easily said no if you didn't wanna do it. Its so frustrating as a bride that everything costs soooo much more as soon as you mention the word wedding to a supplier without the added cost of "last minute" also, you absolutely can make someone look more youthful with makeup. Every single mature client I've ever had has told me how much younger they've felt and looked. 🤷‍♀️ Sucks you had to wait around to be paid though. That's not cool.

    Broooo this is so crazy bc I'm Muslim and this happens a lot with arab/Asian people (I'm black and Puerto rican) they as a "Muslim" family, did sooo many things wrong. I'm not talking about culture or living in a western country. I'm talking about PURE religion. 1. Whoever snitched was wrong. Not even a little wrong, a lot wrong based off of Islamic teachings. You're not supposed just snitch especially if you know nothing will come out of it good or bad. Please don't get this confused with we can't snitch period. No that's not it, she didn't commit a murder, she just didn't have her scarf (hijab) on. 2. Her scarf is VERY MUCH HER PERSONAL BUISNESS. This has nothing to do with politics or feminism. If a male saw her, he should've lowered his gaze and kept it moving. And even the father walking into the room (grooms father) shouldn't have been looking either. This is why so many girls specifically, leave islam bc ppl are literally forcing them to do this like there's no ultimatum. I'm not saying she shouldn't wear her scarf a certain way but that's literally none of my buisness. Like ppl don't know how much the Quran STRESSES ABOUT MINDING YOUR OWN BUISNESS. All you can do is remind ppl and keep it going. That's it. There's no punishment for not wearing your scarf or not wearing it properly "in this life" if you believe in a afterlife. Whatever relationship she has with her scarf is her buisness just like how the father didn't care about walking in the room and didn't care that she was wearing makeup (women can't wear makeup in public unless it's in front of family or at home) and didn't care that whoever saw her snitched. Ppl like to use religion to fit their desires so he shouldn't be complaining since he decided to overlook a lot of other things. ALSO YOU CAN'T PREVENT 2 PPL FROM GETTING MARRIED OVER SOMETHING LIKE THAT. That's not proper adab (manners, which is mentioned in islamic teachings). I wish ppl wouldn't call this mysognoy, bc this is based off of pure ignorance and wanting to please others and themselves. I'm just being honest a lot of arab/Asian ppl don't want big weddings. They do it for family members that they don't even know bc their parents want to impress ppl. But that ain't none of my business ☕
