This specific area is especially gorgeous in my opinion but in general I really b the countryside of Japan.
I really appreciate your ability to highlight travel areas in short period of time. I enjoy a travel experience that spans a greater number of regions of a country. A mix of city and country, stimulating, relaxing, historical, and just enjoyable sights/events.

I enjoy both the city and country parts of Japan when I visit.
I live in the countryside, so I would much rather visit a big city, like Tokyo. But this area was just so beautiful and so different from where I live, I was enchanted by it.
Japan is awesome like that, both the busy city and rural countryside are amazing.
I tend to prefer cities over countryside. I enjoy experiencing the creative energy of all the different businesses vying for your attention and seeing all the subtle differences in the way that each city functions.
I enjoy both city and countryside. I come from a a big city so I like to see the differences in other cities around the world. But this may be a reason why I have a huge craving for the countryside and long to explore more of it.

I am a city guy but yet once in a while I like to visit country sides.
I'd go for the city
country side is amazing and I won't miss it but It gets me bored if I stayed in it for a long time
So I guess a third of my travel to Japan would be in the country-side
That may also make for an easier trip to execute as it's much easier to get to/around the city in Japan.
I've been living in the countryside for 5 years now but i'm a big city girl at heart and miss the bustling city life. Although i could pretty much watch anything that comes out of your magic editing skills. Truly breathtaking! It's a shame you don't have more subscribers, your videos are the best!

Great video, seems that any place in Japan has something great to offer. Oh and I guess I can't really choose between city or countryside, both have something to offer, so I guess a mix of both. City for the entertainment and shopping, countryside for the scenery and general exploration.

I am always torn between the City and the Countryside. I simply love both. But I would probably prefer living in the city, for all the convenience it offers.

Choose for countryside
Wow, i guess you saved the most best most epic views for the final episode. Im sad another season comes to an end, but I really enjoyed seeing a new part of the countryside that I haven't seen before. Im definitely becoming more of a countryside adventurer the more I see the many beautiful places outside of Tokyo.

let's face it nowadays you cannot really live in a countryside all the time cities has a lot of things of offer things you need like and love however it is important to visit countryside from time to time to give yourself a break and to get some fresh air
for me I like to spend a week in a countryside every year at summer time and 7 to 10 days more through out the rest of the year
especially after accomplished something like after graduation, after a hard work season or something like that and that's my opinion
I agree, it's definitely less convenient to live in the countryside.

Hey, I now live in the southern end of the Japanese Alps. I really prefer being in the countryside of Japan. I find it so much more interesting than the city and I just love being in the outdoors, too.

Thanks again for a great video. Awesome footage and seems that you had a great weather. Do you usually shoot the footage on a one day or do you spend multiple days on location? For the question the countryside is for me to live. A city is nice to visit but quietness and peacefullness of the countryside is more for me :).
I feel exactly the same way. For business I go through downtown Tokyo usually once a month or so, and although it's fun, I'm always exhausted by the end. I prefer the countryside.
For filming, usually I plan to film 1 season in 9-10 days in case weather is bad. This video was filmed in about 1.5 days.
Hello! I'm planning on visiting okuhida this October. Which town would you recommend us to stay? I was thinking about Hiroyuki ou shin hotaka. But shin hotaka seems really far away from everything and I don't know if there are public buses to get around easily. One more question: is one night stay enough to get to know the area or would you recommend 2 instead?

I recommend Either Hirayu. There are local buses which should allow you to get to know the area pretty well in 2 days and one night. I highly recommend doing the Shin-Hotaka Ropeway also. - Andrew

Countryside by a landslide. Cities for short stress filled trips of doom.

Hi, I wonder Andrew if you can help me. Going to Japan to hike in Japanese Alps. What I would like to do is establish a place, a base, so I can stay there in a cheap hotel, maybe combine with hot spring and go everyday or every other day to hike. Because of cost I don't want to move from one place to the other. Just one to stay and hike for a day or so and come back, relax in the hot spring, stay in a cheap place till the next day. Of course if I need to move once or twice along the mountain range that's fine. I have a map of Japan, I tried Google but I can't find what I am looking for. For example if I stay in Omachi I can go to spring in Kuzu and hike Tate yama. I want to go for hiking trip for a month. Please help to find 6-10 places so I can have base for each mountain rang. Stan
Hi Stan,
Your trip sounds like a lot of fun! Japan is a great place to go hiking. A few places that quickly come to mind would be somewhere in the Okuhida region, perhaps a campground depending on your budget. Sadly, public transportation is a bit limited in this area though. A few other good bases for hiking would be Hakuba, Nagano, Takayama, Toyama, Kawaguchiko, Kamikochi, and Nikko to name a few. Almost anywhere you go in Japan outside of cities, you'll be near mountains. I hope this helps!
