@@davidbiewer4766 if someone isn't around horses much, especially working horses, they'll find it impressive. Heck, I've been working with horses for years now and even I found it impressive how well these guys are trained. There's absolutely zero call for the negativity. ..it's not easy for me to find the right words to explain how I perceive Brenda's contribution to the videos you are making. My wife and I love cats ... and when Brenda spoke about Andy's cat ... a thought came to my mind, all these little gestures of interaction that she has with your animals, gives me the image of a community... The 4 humans, the 6 horses, and now the cat ... all have their individuality ... you guys make me look at the good side of life ... May who ever is in charge in the other reality bless your family ... you community.

☘️🇮🇪🇺🇸❤️ Your love , camaraderie, innate understanding , patience and natural ability to communicate with your horses is beautiful. So few have your gift… so few honor the magnificent creatures by bringing them into their lives and working WITH them . My grandfather would shed true tears remembering his Jimmy Jackie and Joey to home plowing fields in Northern Ireland… once a human finds that spark between horse and themselves, the world is never the same .. Blessings to you and yours Sir

But I’m sure you’ll attest to such behavior in your beauties.. .. they clearly love working with you eagerly patiently standing to be harnessed… lololol y’a can see the muscles twitching “ let’s go Dad!! “ ears following you listening… blessings!!!!

Seldom seen so well cared for and fed working horses. These two beauties have a super good relationship with their "boss". They are so relaxed, their whole behavior shows absolute trust in people and in the usual processes as they are shown here. Unfortunately, my English is not so good that I would have understood everything, but I could "read" the horses and that was great.

Jim I have had my share of horses as a younger man and often found many horses with white patches on there withers caused from improper fit of the saddle or pad. and rubs hair off and always grows back white. I know your horses is just so much movement it almost has to wear some hair off. But you and the wife take such good care of them. Love the way you caught the sore neck and now you will take care of that problem with a new neck pad. I really love your work sir

My Grandpa used to tell stories about 1 team he had that he used for barn cleaning. His barn had windows that opened out so you clean the pens by pitching the manure through the window. He would hitch the team and they would walk to the first window and stop. When he had that pen clean he call them to "Step up" they would walk to the window and stop. When they got to the end of the barn they walk around to the other side. He said if he could have figured a way for them to engage the spearder he could have sent them to the field by themselves. He would always chuckle and say " You can't do that with a M Farmall".

I once there was semi truck got stuck going up a icy hill! There was not enough room for tow truck to tow it! Road was narrow. A farmer with a team clydesdales pulled the semi truck up the hill! There a places where horses can go and Machines can't! I have great amount of respect for your family that show the world that there is place for these beautiful n strong horses! Much Love n Peace to all!

Excellent video! Very impressed with Bill and Lady's backing skills with minimal voice commands. Barn and stalls look great also. A life style few people could adapt to let alone do it as well as you and Brenda and your daughters and of course your teams of horses. Grew up on a small family farm back in the 50's and 60's, we also did logging, we had a Frick husk saw mill with a 54" saw and and a carriage with four uprights with the dogs, great memories! Hats off to your operation and your life style!

Very informative about the sweat pads and the neck issues. It's nice to give a recommendation to such a good hardworking, trustworthy business. I had no idea how much those pads would be but from guessing what horse tack usually costs and due to the size of them, I expected you to say those pads were closer to $50 each. I think $21.25 each was a great deal, and you were smart to buy four at a time so you would have the red ones ready for the Percherons when you need them.

Couple of questions for you...Do you ever take a day off, except for the feeding and care of the animals? Also, has your farm been in the family, or purchased by you years ago?
I must say, that Jim...you never come across as someone, "trying to make yourself look good" with working your horses. Love your channel you guys do an amazing job! I race harness horses totally understand the work and pride you take in your team. They are performance animals like ours. A couple quick tips for cooling them out quicker we call them coolers a fleceblended single sheet with a 2nd on top wicks the sweat away keeping the bottom cooler dry and the top one takes the moisture away. In the bush during break they are a little lighter and keeps them dry and the skin is able to breath. Second try a little hopple chafe on those skin patches after work will help encourage hair growth, during work a little baby oil around the areas helps lube the skin and prevent harsh rubbing. Training race horses has its perks we know how to keep them in good peak performance week after week. I give you tons of credit for what you are doing and filming it on top of it all, alot of work you are both inspiring.

Wow, you guys , your energy is really high. Good hustle, nice to see the hussle and the quick work post logging. Getting ready for the cold night, worked hard and put away wet, but nice blanket, then to come back out and water and brush again, letting that moisture really flash off, then ready for the night. Yes, amazing how much heat those big animals heat the barn, all the hay above in the mall, great insulation. Nice job guys and thanks for explaining. Regarding ship then pay, I used to do that but got burnt a few times, now I do it cautiously, and much more rarely, I usually chuck one loss per year up to, a donation of good will to keep the good karma going. But yeah, have to be careful.
Usually a few good folks such as yourselves allow me to help the less fortunate. (Balance), Cautiously Caring. Those pads are nice and good price. Do they use the material like the liners of snowmobile boots? Thick felt?
It can take the weight and wear.
    Great Video! Carry On Carefully.
Impressed.. John. Ps; Hello to all from Alaska. Temp running in the teens, perfect..

Hi John, thanks for your comments. Yes, wish everyone was honest! There is some sort of a foam inside the pads, not sure exactly what it is. Below 0 here today and much colder when wind chill is added in. Enjoy those balmy temps!

I'm originally from York ,PA. I've dealt with the Amish in Lancaster, PA. Same way of doing business. There are quite a few harness shops.

Seems to me that would have been a decent price back in the late 80's when I was still buying such things. I don't know if your viewers all realize that the blankets will wear the hair off a horse like that as well. When I was working with hunter jumpers and with Thoroughbred, it was not uncommon for the blankets to rub the hair off the points of the shoulders, the top of the withers, the points of the hips, and if it had a closed back, it would even rub the hair off their butts. The leg straps can rub the stifles as well, and if you forget to criss cross them between the legs, they will rub the insides of the legs too. Those old canvas, wool and leather New Zealand rugs were heavy, and took a lot of hair off. The newer Weathabeetas are much easier on them, but they still will rub.
When I was a kid, those harness marks would raise the price of a horse at auction by several hundred dollars. Chain traces used to be pretty common in the south, and folks used to let those chains rub and turn the hair white, which would permanently raise their price. It told you for sure that the horse was broke to work, and had worked enough to get those permanent marks, which usually meant they were a decent work horse.
