This set is very dear to me. My wife of 17 years and partner of 24 started playing MTG with me on our second date. We opened 2 boxes of legacy, one in the park and the other in a motel room. She's been playing MTG ever since.
Man this takes me back to high school.. I opened LOADS of Urza Block.. absolutely love this!! I played on and off since beta and opened a black lotus- which I promptly traded for a Shivan Dragon… I really wish I wasn’t so dumb when I was younger lol
in the 90s i passed up over 20 dual lands in the 10cent box because i only had a few bucks and wanted serra angels and royal assassins instead. i only ended up with a single bayou which i sold for $100. i've played since then and have never again owned an original dual land.
@@thecollectiblecollectabill2298 Still bums me out that the dual lands are so expensive. I own just about EVERY good land card ever made aside from a Cavern of Souls and the stupidly expensive ones like Cradle, Serra's Sanctum, the dual lands ect.
Relate to these comments so much. Had the opportunity to pick up a Timetwister for $120 and didn’t have the money (was 12 years old.) Wish I had prioritized power, duals, chase lands, and premodern foils so much more. Still have my HP Ancestral Recall.
I was born in December of '98, in the middle of the infamous Combo Winter! This was the first MtG set released during my lifetime! Awesome to see this opening!!
I like to open my magic packs vicariously through you. Just today even I pulled a Foil Crop Rotation from Urza's Legacy! For serious though, Within the last 6 months I've pulled my personal two most expensive cards: Jeweled Lotus from a box break, and a Foil Etched Phyrexian Jin-Gitaxias, Progress Tyrant from a bundle I bought on a whim. Both times, I was in disbelief because I NEVER pull anything like that from packs lol! I was literally shaking with excitement and just sat there smiling for way too damn long lmao! For example, before that, I think my biggest pull was Chromatic Orrery. Anyway, good stuff man. I really dig these old school box breaks.
Got introduced to the game back in high school and it was Urza's Destiny as the most recent MTG set. I remember Urza's Legacy boosters sold at the city's only hobby shop, and I was just checking on the individual common cards to buy for my first deck as I could not afford the booster packs.
Used to trade revised duals for Royal Assassins, Shivan Dragons, and Doppelgangers. Tabernacles and Bazaars were garbage. I've pulled most of the big money (now) cards from revised on but my favorite is my og foil Mom.
Most expensive card I ever pulled from a pack was a foil Academy Rector from Urza's Destiny when the set came out. Or maybe Gaea's cradle and Mox Diamond. But those were opened in the 90's or very early 2000's.
Sliver Queen, Mox Diamond, Cradle, Academy, dreadnaught. You name it. Had all of them as a teenager. Back then they had little to no value since those were new cards and no one even thought of playing anything besides 1n1 with 20 life. So most of the now super expensive cards were pretty average back then. The Commander format made them broken and skyrocket. Like Ur-Dragon and Edgar. I bought Ur-Dragon für $2 four years ago. Now it is at ~60 lol.
What a treat this is. I like hearing about all of your magic history and experience it’s very refreshing and uplifting. It keeps me coming back everyday to watch your videos. # keep putting out these awesome vids for me and I’ll keeps watching those ads for you.
I've only gotten back into mtg recently. Notable pulls. I think these cards all still go for $85+ with a couple over $100. 1. Foil mystical archive jp alternate art Time Warp. (And normal) 2. Foil force of negation (and normal) 3. Tamiyo phyrexian Foil 4. Wandering emperors showcase (got the standard border in foil 2x) 5. Foil bloodstained mire zendikar rising Honorable mention goes to actually pulling 5 urza sagas on my own and the normal and borderless cabal coffers. I watch box openings of mh2 alot but seem to actually see fetch lands more than those gems. Urza saga especially, I love colorless decks.
Killing it with the old school openings lately. Your audience is surely entertained! Most expensive card I've opened I believe was a Foil Retro Force of Negation. But I've opened 2 invocations, one of which was Opposition, which I used in combination with The Locust God in a draft to lock people out of the game, and the other one I forgot but also wasn't very notable as well as an expedition Kor Haven.
Excited about this video, I needed it…. Posting this as an update to my first comment about pulling a Japanese Foil Etched Wandering emperor, just last night that card along with about 2k to 4k of other cards and commander decks, as well as a couple standard and pioneer decks, I basically got cleaned out while me and my children slept last night, I’m extremely devastated, just hoping and praying for the best, I mean this was my whole collection from the past 3 years after getting back into collecting. Sorry if I brought anybody down, just wanted everybody to appreciate there collections while they have them, because someone could break in your house and take yours like they did mine, regardless much love to everyone, and much love to the moss boss
@@JoeyMossBBG yeah that’s some good advice, unfortunately I don’t really have another place for them other than maybe digging a hole in the yard lol. And being strapped done me no good when they came in like A thief in the night lol
The most expensive cards I opened weren't very expensive at the time when I opened them, they got expensive years to decades later so I can't really count Duals, Cradles, Mox Diamonds, etc. That being said, taking immediate value into account, foil Wrenn and Six from a 3 pack blister about a week after MH release. Pulled a foil Echo of Eons from the same 3 pack.
Same here. I opened several duels in my childhood but tossed them aside in exchange for a Lord of the Pit or Force of Nature. A recent valuable pull was a foil force of negation. I also pulled wandering emperor promo in my prerelease kit
Urzas block is my favorite set ever. The foils just look so damn good. That's why I collected all of them I could get from our friend group and have them to this day in a binder with new fresh protectors as of last time sorting the collection. Started playing right after Urzas, but they were still in stores all over town for quite a while. Used to love booster drafts when we could travel the hour to another town to play in them on Friday nights. Would be awesome to get some a box and do a draft with the old friends who are left.
Pulled a Sliver Overlord in the early two thousands. Dropped out of the game and gave away my deck. Bought a Scourge Booster a couple of years ago, when I got back into MTG, and pulled another Sliver Overlord and I was super happy. Not that expensive a card now, but still my favourite pull.
This was awesome to watch. Radiant, Archangel was the first foil rare I ever pulled and I sold it for like a handful of packs. Young and dumb for sure.
Your the man Joey you get to do stuff like this because your trusted people can rely on you to do the right thing always! That’s something you have built over time your just the man I don’t miss a single video!
Love these openings, I wish I had my old cards from 20+ years ago. I had so many from tempest to urza then gave up to play Warhammer. I just started back again collecting a few months ago I kick myself for not knowing what I did with my old cards. I love that smell of old cards, I wish they made a scented candle or something with that smell 😂
Nice!! My fav set is Tempest. I just finished 4 weeks of sorting 45k cards, and scanning the rares/vintage. In the end i had 2280 rares and 180 mythics, and about 300 cards from each set of tempest, urzas, mirage, visions and later sets. I was pretty happy with the older cards, even had some reserved list cards in there. They aren't minty fresh like that be-au-ti-ful box you just cracked. Most expensive card I've pulled is a Japanese Alt Art Foil Nissa who shakes the world, it's worth about... I'm not sure $400 maybe?
Most valuble pull for me was a Scrubland out of a Revised Pack in 2015 at GP Liverpool. got the pack from the prize wall and I damn near passed out with shock and excitement!
My god Joey what is happening on this channel....this is amazing so much TOP content and opening, plus the memories the feelings holy hell this is EPIC thanks Joey!!!!
My brother and I got a booster box of Portal 3k as kids back in 2000 for $75, we used to open like one or two packs each week on Fridays after school. We threw them in a binder and both kinda fell out of magic for a long time. In the last 5 years or so I've really, and I mean really, got back into magic and took inventory of that binder. We're 11 cards short of the full set, have imperial seal and multiples of many rares. It's worth like 11k on tcg but we wanna finish the set and get some graded.
ill never forget my first foil card. my friend and i looked thru the pack and then he went up to eat dinner. THEN i realized that the "slow motion" in the pack was shiny. i had to wait 20 minutes for him to finish dinner before i could share my excitement!
The most expensive card I've ever pulled is The Wandering Emperor foil showcase. I probably should get her graded, but I have her in a magnetic hard case. Such a gorgeous card. Other cards I've pulled have been under $100. I've never opened anything from this set. I just got into mtg about a year ago. I grew up a pokemon player when that came out And I did make it that far in the video lol. I like listening to your vids while I'm working. Always entertaining
I pulled a JPN alt art foil Narset out of my 2nd ever Japanese War of the Spark pack when I bought a box. It was around $300 then. My most consistent luck was Modern Horzions 1. I pulled 5 Wrenn and Six in about 1 case total opened.
Loved Urza´s Saga block. Those were the days. I was a kid, so I bought few packs, whwnever I could get some pocket money to spend. Still have my Tolarian Academy and Argothian Enchantress!
God Pack of Legends I won in a Tournament in 1994! or x2 Gaea's cradles( but it was like a $15 card then lolz), Textured Liliana, Sundering Titan Serialized. However my favorite was a Japanese Foiled Alt art Demonic Tutor... I literally brought me to tears
If we're going by booster pack, the most expensive card I ever pulled was a Battlebond Land Tax, out of a prerelease pack, was the date stamped Liliana from War of the Spark
You asked for it, you shall receive Moss Boss. The most expensive card I have ever pulled was the alternate art foil Kaya from a Conspiracy 2 Draft the night the set released. $20 for the draft buy in and the card was worth over $300 CDN on release night
Three most expensive cards I pulled: Force of Will Invocation - From Hour of Devastation prerelease pack Mana Vault Invention - when cracking Kaladesh box with friend Wasteland Expedition - when cracking OGW box with another friend
Nice snap and mox pulls. I picked up dozens of regular, foil, and prerelease mox ambers at their all time low. Sitting back enjoying the slow climb in price.
Pulled 3 mox diamonds in one box while stronghold just came out. Was buying boxes for 68 bucks. Then it was Urzas Saga and 6th edition. Pulled a foil Memory Jar and several others but those are my pulls. The most expensive card I have is a black lotus CE. I bought that 10 years ago for $350.
Most expensive card I've ever pulled was from a recent set. I got the foil alt art Japanese Liliana from a Japanese war of the spark box. Funny enough it was the last box at my LGS and it sat in the store quite some time until I bit the bullet and bought it last year.
My best pull so far is a masterpiece crucible of worlds I got out of a Kaladesh holiday gift box. Haven't had a chance yet to open anything older than OG Innistrad but it's nice to see older packs opened!
Back in the days I pulled a foil Sliver Overlord and it's nm yet, not even bent over the years. Must be my most valuable card I pulled by myself so far.
Didn’t start playing until around Khans, but my best pull is either Ulamog the Ceaseless Hunger (told my LGS I couldn’t afford one so just bought a single pack and it was in that pack). OR a Foil Timeshifted True-name Nemesis from a TSR 3 pack. So amazing to pull. Love these older sets. Even though I didn’t play during this time I have nostalgia for them haha
The most expensive card I ever pulled is my Zendikar Rising Expedition foil Ancient Tomb, a close second was a foil Flusterstorm from Iconic Masters (was $72 at the time I pulled it, has dropped a bit since). But NOTHING I own compares to my dad and his TWO OG Mox Diamonds from Stronghold, fetching a price of $633.05. Absolutely insane.
I believe the most expensive card I’ve opened is the force of will invocation from hour of devastation. I came back to playing about 5-6 years ago when amonkhet was out. I went kinda nuts because I was so excited to be playing again. My first 2 boxes I opened the force of will and a blood moon. In total I probably opened 20 hour of Dev boxes and about 10~ invocations
Most expensive for at the time, my foil Urza, lord high artificer. I went to an unofficial prerelease at my lgs for Modern Horizons, and pulled him from one of the packs. Little over $400 when i got him, now he's little less than $100.
The best pull I've ever had was a masterpiece Mana Crypt from the Kaladesh block. I also opened a masterpiece Sol Ring, and a Rings of Brighthearth around the same time too, but I don't crack packs these days like I used to. I doubt I'll ever open anything as big as that Mana Crypt again.
i have no clue what this set is i have never touched magic but shiny cardboard im all for that its just cool seeing people enjoying the tcg's they collect/play
Great video. I never got to crack open Urza block. My most expensive card I opened was Juzam Djinn back in 1994, which sat in my binder until 2018. I had it graded by BGS. Came back BGS 9.5 with 10 centering.
In a booster pack, the best I got was a Tarmogoyf + Foil Tarmogoyf in a single Modern Masters 2013 pack. In starter decks, I opened a German black border Volcanic Island, which was nice.
Hi joey, first time commenting and couldn't help bragging about two (what would turn out to be) awesome pulls. #1 was from a pack of Antiquities that I paid AU$65 for, power artifact. Thought I lost on that as it was only around AU$30 at time of opening. #2 was a foil wooded foothills from onslaught. Once again only going for cheap at time of opening. Glad I held onto it, now going for around $1000😁 Love the content moss boss
Pre-release weekend of BFZ I opened a Scalding Tarn Expedition in one of my two prize packs. That was my most expensive card I opened at the time of opening. The most expensive card I opened which went up a lot over time was a Mox Diamond. I bought a single pack for $18 at the time and got reaaaaally lucky.
Eviscerator is good in a life loss deck like Willowdusk. Kinda underrated in that way. Yarok+Eviscerator+Willowdusk on the field means you can tap willow to put 10 counters on something.
I love the nostalgia. I was a big idiot myself. I bought so many packs from Antiquities all the up to 9th edition; And while in high school I had no friends that played and kids who were into that stuff were bullied, so one day I threw all my cards away in the trash. We live and learn. Most expensive card I can remember opening/owning would have to be Candelabra of Tawnos, but I could of had another. That card I remember specifically because I thought it was the dumbest card ever.
I pulled force of negation, I didn't even know it was worth anything for a long time and let it fall around without sleeve until I went through all my rares and reviewed their prices.
i bought one of the $100 vip packs from double masters. i could only afford the one pack. but i pulled the foil showcase force of will. which was over $500 at the time. although it quickly dropped.
That's kinda insane cause I pulled my foiled common cards in my box back then too. Crop rotation, Repopulate, Weatherseed Elf. However, I was super lucky enough to pull a Goblin welder foil and a Replenish foil, which are amonst my most valuable cards today.
Most expensive pull I had was actually Iconic Masters, bought 3 packs, got Mana Drain out of one. Sheoldred out of another, the last is unmemorable apparently. The nicest pull for me was Emrakul Aeons Torn when I was just getting back into Magic after a very long hiatus.
When I was first getting into playing at FNM Drafts at my LGS, I did a random Hour of Devastation pack and won 3 prize packs. In the last one, I opened a Thoughtseize invocation.
9:13 Most expensive individual card I ever pulled? I couldn't have known it at the time, but in high school, about 15 years ago, I pulled a foil Brainstorm that ended up selling for about $350 a few years ago when I sold most of my collection to cover some medical debts.
Most expensive card is a combination, I pulled the borderless extended art Ragavan and a Solitude in a collector pack of modern horizons 2. (might have been a set booster I'm not sure, I bought allot of mh2). I also pulled an archmage charm and force of negation in the same pack, from the same box. That was the reason I ended up buying so many boxes of mh2.
The most expensive was 60 dollar chrome mox foil when the set first released i bought a box. But havent seen or touched a magic card now i see how much that card has gone in value
Joey this is nuts!!! Opening Urza block is crazy. Most expensive card ever opened out a pack was a random mystery booster I bought at my LGS... and what do I hit... That sweet Mana Crypt baby!

I still have that black lotus little Timmy of the past ...... if u got 100k u can have it back in a nice shiny clear Case ✨️ 😉 😏
The first pre-release I went to ever. The nostalgia is real with this set.
It's so cool to see these older sets being opened, but sad to know there's one less box out there in the world.

My favorite block. I bought tons of it. Sold it all.. For dirt cheap. Sold my whole collection as you did and boy do I have regrets.
OG snapcaster from an innistrad pack and a foil mox amber from Dominaria. Innistrad still my favorite set.
Funny enough it was the last box at my LGS and it sat in the store quite some time until I bit the bullet and bought it last year.
oh man, that's a dream pull! Congrats
WCW vs. NWO is an amazing game. I still have my N64 and still play that game.
Yea he was talking to me.. he said Ryan 😂😂
As a native Iowan who was 13 and playing when this came out, it is entirely possible I know the orginal collector.
Absolutely insane.
hahahah you can just say 635 dollars. i dont think the 5 cents is that relevant
Wow, thanks Joey for doing this box opening! Brings back memories from my early young adulthood when I was in college. Thanks brother!
This channel is so great. Nostalgia, brother... pure nostalgia.
That's what we live for
Brings back memories of cracking packs in jr high. Thankfully I’ve kept my Grim Monoliths 😃
Most expensive card I've opened i think would be Ancient Tomb expedition from an Oath box. Still have it sleeved, mint condish
I miss this time in Magic. Value at time of opening, highest value card I pulled from a booster was an Expedition Flooded Strand
Was settling down for this video and heard a call “Mommy, I pooped in my undies” … be back later
Good times
Glad I held onto it, now going for around $1000😁
Love the content moss boss
Very nice
Joey you crack me up with the grading guesses.. I've sent pack fresh ATQ and got 8.5 and 9s at best. Packs cards don't equal 9+ grades. Nice opening
I remember opening boxes of these as a kid with friends. oh the good old days
I bought an Hour of Devastation box and pulled a masterpiece No Mercy after watching you crack all of those HoD packs.
I pulled force of negation, I didn't even know it was worth anything for a long time and let it fall around without sleeve until I went through all my rares and reviewed their prices.
i bought one of the $100 vip packs from double masters. i could only afford the one pack. but i pulled the foil showcase force of will. which was over $500 at the time. although it quickly dropped.
joey knew exactly what he was doing opening these......very clever
Tabernacle… legends pack for my 35th birthday
The most expensive card I've opened was an Unlimited Timetwister in 94, but it wasn't so expensive back then.
That's kinda insane cause I pulled my foiled common cards in my box back then too. Crop rotation, Repopulate, Weatherseed Elf. However, I was super lucky enough to pull a Goblin welder foil and a Replenish foil, which are amonst my most valuable cards today.
Yawgmoth, Thran Physician timeshifted foil from a single Wal-Mart pack is by far my best pull that I still own.
Only thing this freaking channel is missing is putting prices on screen when you pull good cards
When I was first getting into playing at FNM Drafts at my LGS, I did a random Hour of Devastation pack and won 3 prize packs.
In the last one, I opened a Thoughtseize invocation.
I would enjoy seeing some Rath cycle openings - in particular tempest
Cracked the best Exodus box I've ever seen. ua-cam.com/video/uSZ0LWOam1E/v-deo.html
$120 misprint from a 0.03 Basri's Acolyte 🎉
Wow!! Love the old cards. Only on Bad Boy Gaming!!
Damn...I'm so happy with this
9:13 Most expensive individual card I ever pulled?
I once bought 3 booster packs of Battle for Zendikar on my birthday on the way home from college and pulled expedition Polluted Delta. Pretty spicy.
really been enjoying these box breaks lately. sorry if noob question but do u have to be a patron to help pay for boxes?
Yes, it's the only way to organize breaks smoothly.
Joey this is nuts!!! Opening Urza block is crazy.
Most expensive card ever opened out a pack was a random mystery booster I bought at my LGS... and what do I hit... That sweet Mana Crypt baby!
Man the artwork is so epic from the urza's block..foil crop rotation about 220$..gg my good sir
