I appreciate your channel, but this time you made a special show man. 1999 to 2008 were my glory days of MtG, so I love to watch people opening these old packs. My second deck used to had lots of Unlimited and Revised cards like Savannah Lions, Wrath of God, Armageddon, Serra Angel, Crusade, Disenchant, Swords to Plowshares, White Knight and some extra stuff like Order of the White Shield and Soltari Visionary. Sadly I sold the whole deck back in 2003.
Urza was in stores when I played at the WOTC store in Detroit Michigan. Some great times, I can only imagine how hard I was getting abused in trades at the store considering how old I was and how little i knew.
@@MTGAttitude that was a lot of lands. I don’t remember ever opening that many lands unless it was a starter deck. And definitely plan on doing it on camera. Have some outta the box ideas for some of my videos already done.

Mirrodin was my first block, but I got to play with a bunch of stuff from Tempest up to then because a friend's older brother would lend and sell us cards. That Mirrodin pack felt good to watch.
There's a lot of things I appreciate about your channel. The humor is what drew me in, the interaction with patrons and viewers keeps me commenting, the appreciation for both the art and the cards themselves, and the history we get to witness by going back in time with you. You're like a diet archivist in a way! I got into magic in 2008. A friend was showing me how to play one afternoon and we just kept going. Next thing I know, it's 7am, and I have class that starts in an hour lmao! The first card I bought was Molimo Maro-Sorcerer for like $20. When I got to the car, I un-sleeved it and it felt THICC. I slid it back and forth and realized a card was stuck to the bottom of it because of a price sticker. When I pulled it apart, I saw the crumpled up $30 sticker attached to ol' Future Sight Tarmogoyf himself! Hot dog! I don't think I opened my actual first pack of cards until core 2015! I was a bargain bin gatherer for far too long. Watching your videos helps scratch that itch that I know I missed out on all those years ago. Thanks for doing what you do brother!
I love looking at these old cards. I played back in 93-94. Until my parents found out. Didn't come back until 3 years ago. it is nice to see what I missed.

Same! I started with Portal, when I moved on to the 'expert level' cards all of Tempest block was still being sold, with Exodus having just released, and Urza's came out a few months after. It was a great time.
Tempest was amazing. That was the beginning of my favorite story arc in Magic. And yes Weatherlight was technically the start but I consider the prologue.
What was your deck during Saga? Mine was Green Stomp which was a big one, my twist was during PTQ that got me 7th in State Champ. I splashed white. Ran Defense of the heart+ Cradle+Serra Avatar+something for lifelink + mother of ruins side-boarding wall of glare for other stomp decks etc. Something that gave trample. So much fun
I was late to the party and started back in Origins, but it got me hooked nonetheless. I remember pulling Jace, Vryn's Prodigy while I was in a hotel in Texas with some friends during Pax South. Good times!

I had a binder with 5-6 cards in each slot. I gave them all to my nieces step son. Along with my Homelands and Ice age binder. I kind of regret it but I couldn’t fit them in my suitcase for the flight

My first interaction was elves vs goblins dual deck. I had goblins and I was hooked immediately! First block was zendikar, mainly rise of the eldrazi and I was a champion with those monsters.
I began getting into Magic in 1995. 38yrs old now. But Ive missed out on so much from 2000 and beyond. Just recently began getting back into it about 5 years ago. I played here and there all throughout the 2000s but never picked it back up seriously til' recently.
Technically I started in the Dark since it's the first box I ever got. But I actually started in Mirage cycle in 97. I actually still have a pack of Mirage I accidentally didn't open because I had put all the wrappers back in the box and didn't notice it till 2002 when I had moved to Canada from Texas and it never really left that box. I guarantee there's a LED in there or at least a Dreadnought, since the rest of the box wasn't anything to rave about. I did get a Worldly Tutor that I still have, but it served in the concrete battlefield and it looks like a veteran.
Sorry to burst your hopes and dreams but the tokens for Odyssey could only be obtained from the Magic Player Rewards program that WotC should bring back!
I started right before Urza's Saga came out, so the Tempest/Urza standard is where I discovered Magic. I've taken two hiatus' since then though. I stopped right when they changed the frames in 8th Edition, sold my entire collection for like $300 (had a playset of Volcanic Islands), then I got back in when Zendikar came out and really played through Zendikar and Worldwake until my brother stole and sold my entire collection that time. It turns out that everything I had in that collection is now worth more then $500k. I just got back in w/ Strixhaven. I remember getting tons of packs and starter decks of Tempest, Stronghold, Exodus, and the whole Urza's block from places like Toys R Us for $2.50 a pack or so. I opened so many cards that are worth a ton now. I also did the same with Zendikar/Worldwake when I got back in, and to see the stuff I pulled back then going for what it is today is crazy (except for Jace, he was $120 when he was legal in standard.
Ice Age was the newest set when I started. But 4th edition was also new, and Revised/The Dark /Chronicles/Fallen Empires were all available at the time too.
i started pretty late with khans of tarkir, I got a little pre-con standard deck, it was the Mardu one. in the two packs in the back I opened a flooded strand and windswept heath.

I started with portal second age. It was 1999 or 2000. Back in the day we had a small local comicbook store in town. This was a time in which the internet seemed like science fiction to us. I can remember visiting this store with my mother. She bought me my first mtg portal starter bundle or whatever it was called. I have a lot of these old cards to this day. So long ago... good times

I put the link to the opening with the times of him opening the pack, the white fraying of Savannah Lions on the back right side and the 7 lands pulled. I haven't opened these in years, but I never pulled that many lands in a pack. I want to get Moss's opinion before doing anything crazy. Good looking out boys...thank you.
My brother found a few starter decks of Odyssey a few years back for like $25 each, and he bought the last few the guy had and gave one to me. I got a Mindslicer and an Entomb for my rares. I love the lands, they look great.
Was it only me but does that almost only land pack (one with savannah lion) looks like it has been tampererd with, also notice the slight ding on the upper left (would be right if face up). I could be wrong but i wouldnt hold it past humanity.
The last booster box I ever bought in 2002 when I stopped playing MTG was an onslaught box. I opened them all and put them in my binder. Just recently looked back over my cards after 20 years and I happened to find a polluted delta Foil in MINT condition. Had no idea I had it or had any idea what it was worth until I looked up some of the values. Never thought in a million years it’s worth $1500-1800 and up if graded. I think I may send it in the get graded.

Being the closest prerelease location to Wotc HQ, we got employees there all the time. Usually just watching, gunslinging and hanging out. I vividly recall being asked by an employee if I had any critiques of Mirrodin. My complaint was that the artifacts were too light and looked like white cards. And whadyaknow, they fixed it with Darksteel (I obv wasnt the only one lol)
I just started into the game about 6 years ago...but my fiance has been playing since Alpha, and he still has all the cards from when he started... it's an amazing collection.
just found this at random after watching command zone and buying some cards lol. I started in Theros, when i think the first lot of gods started swinging. My first God card was Mogis and my first deck aside from the starter deck with Eater of Hope was a dual deck with Nicol Bolas and Ajani (if i remember correctly)
same here. magic back then with my cousins. had heaps of cards, literally. so many cards from urza. some really old shit my cousins got from other friends. I remember portal being one of the editions. and something with a palm tree as logo. also a lot of cards without edition logo's on them. we didn't even know back then what the differently coloured logos meant. "Oh hey, this one's silver! Neat!" LOL. The things you learn growing up... in my defense, that was when i was like 11-14 years old
I remember I had some cards with a logo of an open book, we didn't know which ones were rare, uncommon or common all of them were the same color but with broken effects.
I never had a large enough group of players to be too into Magic, so I never played a lot. I remember being in junior high in like 95 in Kent, WA, and these kids were playing Magic in the library. I was really interested, but never ended up getting into it. My mom actually bought my first cards in 96, because she always loved fantasy art. I tried to find people to play with, but we didn't have the internet back then to find people, so I collected cards for a while. I eventually did find a few people who played, and for about a year I played. I moved and lost people, so I gave the cards to an exchange student from Germany who played in like 2002. Now that I know they could have been worth some money, I might have kept them, but I am sure he got good use out of them.
I started in return to ravnica the stopped at fate reforged because i didnt k ow hpw to build decls properly. Got back in through mtg arena at kaldheim release cause i finally learned how to build decks lol.

That revised pack was a repack. You never got that many lands in a pack.

I remember portal being one of the editions. and something with a palm tree as logo. also a lot of cards without edition logo's on them. we didn't even know back then what the differently coloured logos meant. "Oh hey, this one's silver! Neat!" LOL. The things you learn growing up... in my defense, that was when i was like 11-14 years old
I remember I had some cards with a logo of an open book, we didn't know which ones were rare, uncommon or common all of them were the same color but with broken effects.
I started somewhere between 7th and 8th core set.
I never had a large enough group of players to be too into Magic, so I never played a lot. I remember being in junior high in like 95 in Kent, WA, and these kids were playing Magic in the library. I was really interested, but never ended up getting into it. My mom actually bought my first cards in 96, because she always loved fantasy art. I tried to find people to play with, but we didn't have the internet back then to find people, so I collected cards for a while. I eventually did find a few people who played, and for about a year I played. I moved and lost people, so I gave the cards to an exchange student from Germany who played in like 2002. Now that I know they could have been worth some money, I might have kept them, but I am sure he got good use out of them.

My Dad played Revised and had a full set and playset of each dual land, but he got rid of them Yada Yada, you know the vibes.

I started in return to ravnica the stopped at fate reforged because i didnt k ow hpw to build decls properly. Got back in through mtg arena at kaldheim release cause i finally learned how to build decks lol.

I started with vintage revised and played for about two years then packed my cards away until I pulled them out about 6 months ago
My first pack was an Unlimited Starter Pack, with Scrubland and Timetwister in the rare slots. I thought Craw Wurm was the best card in the pack.
I could use that Galvanic Key for my Osgir Deck.

I wonder where you got those packs from Joey. You can very well get unlucky, but I would be afraid of repacks in this case.
