There will be a population explosion when women are told they're being drafted to go to war but suddenly find themselves pregnant, another female privilege.
It's not just feminism. It's the entire woke movement. One of the dangers here is that some women either believe they can actually physically best men, or they feel socially pressured into trying. I've yet to see it end well for any of those who tried.

I'm an 'old school' feminist. Do men and women have an equal vote? Are they paid the same when doing exactly the same job, for the same results? Are they equal under the law? Are men and women judged on their character above any other consideration? For me, if all those questions can be answered with a "yes" then that's the finish line reached. All this nonsense about women being better than men in every way - just because they're women - is utter shite. The world needs men to be men and women to be women ... IMHO.

It's the liberal feminists who go along with gender fluidity which is reflected in these unrealistically strong female action hero films. TERF'S are heterosexual mother's like Kelly Jae Keen standing up for women's rights to different safe spaces free of autogynophiles.
All women are now written the way Steven Seagal writes himself in action movies. Infallible perfect ass kickers of dubious moral authority in the violence that the "hero" dispenses and and utter lack of any real humanity despite broad superficial displays of caring.
Perfect comparison. As a fan of 80's and 90's action movies, I always hated Seagal for that crap, so why should I go along with it if the genders are reversed? It has nothing to do with being "intimated" by strong female characters and everything to do with despising hacky, ego drenched screenwriting.
How do you know the women in the movies that beat all these armies, giant ogres and firebreathing dragons aren't secretly trans-men pretending to be women, and even the audience is never told?
In fact you make the most incisive point I have seen in these comments. This man isn't bitching about feminism, it's t-,gender ideology that's done most of this to us, and the rest is Hollywood's infantile ideas. But people love to hate women.
A judo guy told me about a woman joining his club. The black belt, whose experience was that women need to be encouraged to greater aggressiveness, told her to punch him. She instantly punched him in the gut leaving him doubled up, helpless on the floor. She was both embarrassed and very apologetic. Turned out she'd been doing karate for years and fancied trying something new. He should have asked first. Cheers
I honestly hate it when some not all, but some movies portray men as creeps and women as bootlickers. I also hate it when some not all, but some movies portray men as simps and women as spoiled. I myself want movies to portray men as protectors and women as helpers which shows them working together as warriors instead of hating each other period.
I took my nephew's children to the movie "Elementals". The previews to 4 children's movies were an eye opener. The protagonists were all non-white people, mostly women. The rare white person would be a woman in a secondary role. There is a movie about all black astronauts and a black young woman has the lead role as a tough astronaut heroine. One movie "Marvels" is all about non-white chick bosses kicking asß like testosterone XXYYY crazed women. The feature film was about a love affair between a tough female character made of fire and a male softy made of water. He would cry at the drop of a hat. She was a daughter of hard working immigrants who suffered a lot from discrimination encountering all the standard microaggressions. "Oh, you're so articulate...."
Leftist propaganda. Trying to make boys feel bad about being boys and whites feel bad for being white. If white people aren't superior , then why are they being attacked ALL the time? Hmmmmm
I read about any movie made over the last few years and if it looks woke I pass. I dont care how good it is sorry I just dont care to support woke movies. And the women beating up big men is at the top, it just aint gonna happen. I remember telling my wife most men could not fight against that guy he is just like a Brock Lesnar type. Some women IMO rock the tough persona, Ripley from Alien, the woman from the original Terminator, they seemed real. But lately its all non white and non men. Just means I get to spend my money on other things
@@tracer0017I fucking hate nut jobs like you! Everything is woke to yall! Never returning to that bullshit again.
7:00 is right. Feminism should give women choices but should not stigmatize the sacred feminine. We should honour those who raise and nurture the next generation. But diligence and selflessness are seldom rewarded. Feminism has not made everybody miserable though. Just get some stories from the boomer generation about Catholic women becoming pregnant because it's their wifely duty, despite knowing from medical advice that it will kill them. Feminism is the reason women in that situation can now assert their own body autonomy.
Agreed. Not only women, but men, too, have been liberated by feminism, and are now allowed to assert themselves in areas where before they had to face stigma. I wish we just stopped pushing people into predesigned molds and just let them live out their natural lives and potential. Let women AND men do what they want with their lives, but make sure they take personal responsibility for the outcome. Yes, feminism has now gone to far, but the solution is not to go back to the dark ages, but rather find a balance.
In defence of Dungeons and Dragons (not that I've seen it): If ever you were going to have a film where female warriors have parity in combat with their male counterparts, then it would be this one. That's what DnD is all about! A bunch of scrawny weaklings get together and create characters. They can identify as human, elf, dwarf of either gender, and it makes no difference to the game play as their stats are derived by rolling dice, and improved by acquiring experience. Of course, by the same logic, making a DnD film kind of misses the point; but then again I suppose, even if the plot sucks, you can just blame the "players" or "Dungeon Master" for coming not up with a better one.
No. I understand the point he's making. I just think DnD is a bad example, because the very concept it is based on renders any distinctions of a character other than the stats you've rolled as purely cosmetic. An imaginative player might take such things as gender (or height for dwarves) into account when role-playing their character, but they don't have to. As long as they roll a sufficiently high strength and have the luck of the dice on their side in combat, then their chosen gender is entirely irrelevant. That might result in quite a crude game, but that is why it's DnD and not literature.
The early editions of D&D from the 70s, used to cap women's strength lower than the males in all races. The 5th edition released in 2014 has no such limits.
> either gender Larian introduced they/them pronouns. Mark my words, you will have more than 2 genders in D&D in the next edition. The only thing controversial is thinking otherwise. This is wizards of the coast. They already courted woke revisionism of Magic: The Gathering.
"(Modern) feminism is a mistake that makes everybody miserable." That quite nails it. Being drunk (on power) lets you belive your the greatest but you can't be convinced your rather acting pathetic untill your sober.
@Andrew Klavan: Femininity, motherhood, child rearing and homemaking are not primarily devalued by feminism, but rather by capitalism and the market - who take them for granted, won't pay for them, and expect to get them for free. This is the initial and primary template of devaluation whereby a low valuation is fixed. Something which has no monetary value in our society is something which has no value at all - according to the market fundamentalists - who currently rule our culture. The feminists merely take their cue from this. In many respects they are helpless sheep - just like the rest of us - whose powers of analysis - are often not quite as good as we might wish them to be.
He's correct of course, but it's more insidious than that. There is no way to tax DIY child rearing and homemaking...no reportable income means no income tax. Once the income tax was in place, the problem was they could only tax those working outside the home, mostly men. And so began feminism. Now they can tax a much larger segment of the population.
I decided to quit working and become a homemaker 4-5 years ago. I know it's the better decision for me, but I feel so alone because other women around me don't understand that.
Women would maintain the community. The neighborhood. The society. They'd work together to ensure every family in that community was fine. It happened in the UK after WW2, when men returned with undiagnosed PTSD. Women kept the community together and men killed themselves in poor unsafe jobs. Such an amazing thing Women did, such an important role they played. Now women work the same poor jobs as men and go home to empty houses. The community isn't there anymore.
Elas não precisam entender e você não deve explicação a ninguém. Como feminista, acredito que a mulher é livre pra ser o que ela quiser, inclusive dona de casa.
Here's why this is happening: People who tend to be artistic...tend to be very Liberal, feminine, and were probably bullied in high school. These people are nerds. Art nerds. Not by any means BAD PEOPLE. In fact, they are usually smart, kind, creative, funny, and unique. The only problem is: They are extremely Liberal. Even the males are hardcore feminists. And they make up the majority of LGBT. So...now you have all these artsy people running to Hollywood. Writing, directing, producing shows and movies. They are going to shove their own politics into it.
@@pookiecatblue funny how the word “princess” triggers a knee-jerk reflex among so many people cz of the extent angry feminism has warped all brains. These “princesses” were all depicted as hardworking women, caring for their homes, families and friends, all very kind characters and very feminine. Ironically all were very poor and humble in the story. They were not portrayed as entitled bratty “princesses” with long fake nails.
Dude is correct about movies in general, but wrong specifically about Dungeons and Dragons, which to my mind represented well the tabletop fantasy well enough. However, his analysis is spot on for that stupid Rings of Power. I literally could not get past that first episode because of the laming monster scene at the beginning where the monster swats away six or seven dudes then gets owned by Galadriel
Agreed, the latest D&D was really enjoyable. And yes the female barbarian was OP, but all of the player characters have to be to survive a campaign and she's the ONE tank that they have. They balanced that out by her not being very smart or sophisticated, and they were careful to show that all the skills of the entire group were needed. It really felt like a group of real life people behind these characters improvising and trying to solve problems...and not always doing so well!
@@jdraven0890 Yeah, I'd agree. The reason she worked was because her stats actually seemed balanced - she was strong... but not very bright. She was violent, but kind-hearted and loyal, and actually felt like a more traditional feminine character in some respects - being a surrogate mother for the protagonist's daughter. And in the end, the whole party actually functioned as a proper DnD party; nobody carried the group. Actually my favourite film of the year.
Why did _Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves_ have to be the opening example, though? It’s genuinely one of 2023 better films, regardless of how stupidly the filmmakers claimed their film “emasculates men”, which it doesn’t really do.
Yeah, it was actually a fantastic film, and almost completely free of modern ideology. The barbarian character was exactly that - the group's barbarian. It worked as a joke - with her being not too bright, and her thing for halfling men - and it worked in terms of the writing, with her being a fiercely loyal, genuinely likeable character who is actually the surrogate mother for the protagonist's daughter. The fight sequences meanwhile, were really very well done. The brawl in the forge had some great choreography, with the barbarian winning not just through implausible strength, but by using literally everything in the environment to give her an edge.
The fact that the speaker used Dungeons & Dragons as an example of a misandrist movie makes me lose a lot of respect towards him. There are plenty examples to choose from, and yet he chose a movie that actually supports gender equality. Everyone in that movie, whether male or female, has his/her own specific strengths and weaknesses. This makes the casts learn to complement each other.
"There are no likeable or loveable women in the movies!" (or on television.) That's a complaint I've been making for decades. I figured that Hollywood didn't want to put impressive women on the screen because it would alienate the audience, which was made up of mostly unimpressive women. It was the same thing for men. I complained that there were no admirable men in the movies anymore either, but I wasn't noticing the men as much, or I wasn't as annoyed by them as I was by the women. I was always asking: "When are they going to put attractive women in movies?" Meaning feminine as well, of course, because attractiveness is a combination of beauty and femininity.
its social engeneering, they want women to be as repulsive and selfish as possible and men as unmasculine and spineless as possible. These characters are designed to make you think the shown conduct is normal so you become more like them.
@@JesusLovesTheLittlePiggies the answer is to not watch that crap, i dont watch tv, i dont watch netflix or anything else. Its a shame they dont make movies like around 2000 yes but we cannot really do anything besides openly rejecting and hating it.

Like The Critical Drinker always say, these fight scenes only "works" because of extremely accomodating stunt men. A 120lb woman taking on 8 well trained 250lb men in a straight up fist fight is laughable. Ive only ever seen one close to realistic man vs woman fight where the woman won, in the movie Haywire, Gina Carano vs Michael Fassbender. That fight only works because Gina Carano is a beast that actually knows how to fight and has MMA experience, and the fight is choreographed to give her a realistic advantage. She still gets her ass beat but barely wins because of grappling techniques and cheap tricks. Watching Scarlett Johansson piruett and do cartwheels to take down 10 guys is ridiculous.
Is it realisitc at all when Jason Statham can kick peoples a$$ in his mid 50's or that Short Kings Tom Cruise or Sly Stallone were beating twenty something guys in movies when they were in their 40s and 50? Not sure why of all the cartoonish unrealism that goes in action movie ,girl wins fight is where it triggers Conservative men to draw a line.
In D and D you used to give penalties to strength to female characters and bonuses to charisma. A female barbarian would always be worse than a male barbarian.
@@AYFKMRN Not like it's going to be in 10-20 years. "Woke" = rampant misandry. (AKA, toxic feminism) Misandry = hate Hate breeds hate. What do YOU think the NEXT step will be?
Yes, it will tear down the whole western civilization. The whole basis for healthy and productive reproduction of the population crumbles. Some western countries have birthrates closing in on 1 per woman. It's a demographical disaster.
Ya I have been shouting about what feminism has done to women for years and now I have added the battle with confused men in skirts (CMiS). Makes people uncomfortable. One big problem is people can't think outside their own box. Very hard to have a discussion on a broad scale with generalities. Very hard to pull in history. People often reduce everything to their particular situation with 'yes but for me it's like this' comments.
Brilliant. The part about a woman taking a punch like it’s nothing. NOPE. This one really gets to me: a few years back, someone was trying to steal my car. I ran up to him shouting what are you doing? He just turned around, started going into these boxing moves actions, and BAM! Knocked my ass out… three teeth too. Punched me so hard I was lifted up and my head hit the bumper of another car. So NO, women can’t take punches or land one on a guy that will do anything. She will be on her ass passed out on the ground. The problem is they teach these young girls this in movies. Well. It’s not going to end well. Only thing she will receive is a very high dental/oral surgeon bill.
I bounced in an entertainment area back in 08-10; beginning of boss babe era. We started seeing so many girls getting beaten badly by men because TV taught them that they can deck a guy.
Excellent interview. Very important insight on Andrew's part re how the entire thrust of feminism is to undermine the importance of women and try to replace them.
No one hates and/or despises femininity (and women) more than modern feminists. That's one reason that most of them are so miserable. And misery loves company... So they love to make everyone else miserable, too.
I remember watching a film with Angelina Jolie (can't remember the name), she was 55kg soaking wet, and she single handed took on Russian security forces over 129kg of solid mudcle, one kick from the toothpick legs of Angelina and over they went! Totally ridiculous. It wasn't even a comedy. It is just pathetic.
Men are used to being insulted, it is a man's role in life to take responsibility, and all that this entails. Women are not which is also why men are traditionally trained to regard any insult to any female member of their family as an insult to themselves, especially to their wife or mother. No Man is a Superman, Batman, Spiderman, or any other kind of superhero, the vast majority are just ordinary guys, who bleed and die like any other. Therefore watching male superheroes do their thing is an insult to the common man, as this will engender within him a sense of inferiority as he will clearly know that he is not capable of doing any of these kinds of things. Women on the other hand are not used to feeling this way other than when they see incredibly attractive women being able to get a man to do whatever she wants simply because of her attractiveness and guile. However, when they are also shown to be physically superior even to their own husbands or boyfriends this is often an insult too far. Firm producers used to be aware that it is primarily women who make or break a movie. It is primarily women who decide which movies the family and her husband are going to watch. This is why females generally like male Superhero movies, as these kinds of characters provide an object for their sexual fantasies and also give the subtle message to their own man that he is not really up to much, or as much as they may prefer. IMO this is the main reason why these kinds of movies bomb the box office, and Bond movies for example have not in the past. They are an even greater insult to the common woman who knows full well that she will never come close to emulating any kind of superwoman. She would also prefer their male partner would not concentrate his attention on a female character at all, never mind one with greater physical capabilities than they have themselves. They rightly believe that a man who prefers a physically dominant woman is not the kind of man that they would have any respect for, for I hope obvious reasons. These kinds of movies please neither women nor men, and therefore can do nothing else but bomb at the box office especially when the novelty has worn off.
I saw a video recently of a guy and a girl in a parking lot having an argument, or at the least the girl was screaming at the guy. She eventually starts hitting him at least a dozen times. The guy is not a mountain of muscle, though he is bigger than she is. His head snaps to the side a few times when she hits him, and im sure it kinda stung, but he's otherwise unaffected. He decides he has enough of her crap and hits her back just once, completely flooring her. Compare that to your average Hollywood movie, where some beanpole actress throws 6'6" burly stuntmen around for no good reason
One Comment on the internet, but hopefully it will meet the right person: There r real dangers for the woman being only housewife: 1.Financial dependency (classical one) 2. There r good and bed phases in life, in bed phases you will sacrifice anything that makes you feel beautiful and feminine in order of the family to have enough zo pay the bills and have something to eat.Not all people r rich enough all the time and what men don't see is looking beautiful always costs money, doesnt matter if looking just jung or looking like a plastic Barbi, all that costs money. 3.Friends and mental development:there is only so much development you can get out of baking a cake. The real ideas, friends, situations normally u meet outside by being part of the society. 4.Its just an idialized situation. U will still most likely have to work, but probably fo less pay, less time and no real creer opportunity, just to fill the gap jn the family fund.... Never trust men about something that is a unique women experience, ask an experienced woman. Its not that someone hates thrm, they r just idealizing the woman. That being said, there are also advantages of being the mother and the housewife. Just know the traps before getting into something.
Any time you point out anything absurd done by (or even advertised towards) women? The automatic response is to try and muddy the waters to the point where you can say that men do "exactly" (TM) the same thing. Because women are never remiss. If they're guilty of something? Then so is literally everyone else. They have to be. Otherwise (heaven forefend), women might actually have to take responsibility for a problem... and then fix it themselves.

Surely the point is, women should be able to have the choice, of course many would like to lead the traditional housewife life, good on them for it, but they should also have the opportunity to take them where their intellect can take them if that’s what they want, yes it’s crass when some nubile tiny girl is portrayed as a knock them all out superhero in films, but it would also be crass to forget that people like Hedy Lamarr and Marie Curie punched way above their weight in what was very much a man’s world.
I mean the idea is to divide society, so it cannot stand. I have loyalty from my siblings my parents, my spouse, my children. What would I be without those ties? I would be weaker.
When there is injustice in the world, humans tend to create change by going to extremes. It is our nature. If only we could exact change by being more moderate, we might not be at each other's throats all the time. Embrace and cherish our differences as men and women but also allow for individuals to thrive. One day we will work it out...I hope 😅
Well that is not real life. One cannot half jump out of an aircraft. Either you do or you don't. Feminised politics assumes an end goal can be inched towards but that is a cowardly fallacy. What might appear to be extreme is merely a long overdue adjustment, like a hard hand brake turn to avoid a catastrophic accident.
On Game of Thrones a woman never once lost a fight with a man. It was the biggest feminist man-hating show in film history. Every strong male character was killed, castrated or banished. The only one who remained were dwarfs, Librarians and cripples
This may not be about feminism. Movies are about making money. The Wonder Women, Super Girl thing is a male fantasy. These characters were created by men. These movies are largely directed at young male audiences.
The "tough beautiful woman kicking ass" trope. Not only is it completely unrealistic, it happens in about half the films you see these days! It's utterly predictable. You know you're about to be "educated" once again about "how tough women can be" - that's the sort of language they'd use. It's the same vague and meaningless language feminists pull out when they ask "why are men so intimidated by strong women?" And so it is that many female leads HAVE to be "strong and independent". Again. Just like the last film. And she'll beat up & kill hundreds of dispensable, uniformed men... just to educate us about "equality". Then onto the next trope I can't imagine how pathetic the meetings where they discuss all this are. Everyone too cowardly or stupid to stand up and say "how about we make a real film this time? How about we tell a story & forget about trying to tell people what to think:?"
Yeah, people don't understand that while a movie doesn't have to be completely realistic, there is some rules you just can't break. Just because Superman can fly doesn't mean you can let Batman levitate. When James Bond beats up a couple of trained killers that might not be too realistic, he'd probably get his ass kicked in real life, but it's somewhat believeable. He's not a superhero, but he's super well trained, so maybe. But if he just deflects a bullet, that's beyond his abilities. Just like if 110 pounds Jane Bond beats up a couple of trained killers. That simply defies physics. In Age of Ultron they made the same mistake when Ultron, a robot, not a super hero/villain, start's to use superhero powers (telekinesis). In a movie you can break whatever real life rule you want, but you can not break your own rules. A robot is a worldy thing, it does not have superpowers.
There was a movie with Hugh Grant a long while back in which he was a writer of sorts, and there was a moment when he got tipsy at a reception or exhibition or dome such, and after a rant about poor scripts he suggested, "Why don't we do a movie where a woman gets her ass kicked for a change?", which was followed by a loaded silence. The character he played had a good point, but it had to be portrayed as a drunken man's misogynistic rambling.
To be fair, it's Dungeons and Dragons. Any one person can roll basically any character they want each with their own ups and downs. A woman barbarian is not a new idea.
I don’t get the problem with the fact that Men and Women complement one another…we ARE so different in order to complete one another…ffs…Clown world.🤡😫
Women want to be given the good bits of men's lives - not earn the good bits, but be given it - as their due. However, women want protection from the bad bits of men's lives, and men to pay the price for both!

Dungeons and Dragons is a fantasy movie so women CAN beat up men, beasts or monsters IF her attribute score is high enough . The problem is when people want fantasy to be the reality.
True, but the moment they have the 5' 2" little girl that pumped a little iron beats up a massive beast of a "man" (monster?), they've set the tone for the film: This is goofy children's stuff and feminist propaganda. Go watch the original Conan the Barbarian with Arnold Schwarzenegger if you want a fantasy movie that's semi "realistic". There's still magic and monsters, yet it's still based in the real world where woman can be powerful characters, but they're not men.
any politically correct movement ruined movies, comic books, whatever. The goal of entertainment is "entertainment," not political correctness. And entertainment is escapism, not reality (or perceptions of reality i.e. political correctness).
There is definitely a fine line to walk, in example, there was always a message in X-men, but it took the character development and plots seriously within their comic book rules and universes - as soon as they pretended they could make it “realistic” and characters that never were R-rated now suddenly had to be obsessed with sex and sexuality, it got weird. Very little is realistic about super heroes and those of us who created the fan bases, had no issue with that. Just like people who watched soap operas like their lack of realism the way they were written.
@@tablescissors X-Men was made as a metaphor for bigotry, disdain for anothers ethnicity, way of living or any other legitimate example of hate. It actually has a valid point, it's not getting literally political about anything. Even its own quasi-political stance is still presented in a apolitical manner, it doesn't take sides. That's fine , that still works. For another example, the Chucky sequels Curse of Chucky and Cult of Chucky have Nico in it and she's handicapped, she's in a wheelchair. But it works very well for the story, it's scarier because you worry for the character more, it works well in the story overall with the feud between Nico and Chucky and the and it even ties in to the story with Chucky's vendetta against her family. The problem isn't a minority that makes something in a work of fiction politically correct but when politics like that is just thrown in there gratuitously. But that is indeed what a lot of Hollywood movies have been doing as of late. Throwing in political crap gratuitously just to churn out garbage. The Chucky sequels were very good over all, but that's the thing. Those were independent horror franchise movies, Hollywood never touched 'em. I think also, as cool as a lot of the past movies were, the ideas and relevance to them are dated by todays standards. For example (not a popular opinion) but I honestly thought Child's Play 3 was a pretty f*ing cool sequel. The way it took Chucky and threw him in the mix of a group of rebellious teens in military school I thought was a pretty cool concept for a horror fantasy movie. Or whatever you'd call the movie, the idea of a homicidal possessed 1980s franchise doll sounds very fantastical to me. But nowadays pretty much everyone in the US are tards on tiktok, I couldn't even imagine what present day teenagers are like. A lot of people seem to clamour for the nostalgia of the older movies but really if the movies were ever made like that today, a lot of times it simply wouldn't work out.
I remember a scene in Chuck where a beautiful woman CIA agent, fights with a very strong guy (a bad), she's agile, so she throws a kick right in the face of the guy, and the guy don't even move, he punches the woman, and she's K.O. We were surprised to have this kind of situation depicted in a realistic way. Regarding the thing of D&D... As long as I remember, at least in american pen and paper role playing games, women have no physical drawbacks. True, it can seem like every character is male with just a female "skin ". So if a male with several levels in the fighter class can knock out a giant orc, by the rules, so can a woman with equal levels. Let's assume that in D&D, humans are magically stronger and more resilient than the mundane counterpart, or when they take fighter levels (or levels in any player class, they get that "magical" strength/resilience) I think this equality in Pen and Paper is due to 2 things: First, possibly economic, you don't want potential female customers to not buy because of an asymetric ruling. Second and possibly the most important: you don't want to be called out as misog**** by the woke or feminist mob. I don't know, if by american laws(i am not American), making a game ruleset were women characters are weaker could even be legal.
Not illegal, just unfashionable. I'm pretty sure female characters in tabletop D&D exist so teenage nerds can fantasize about f**king them and artists can draw them on the boxes, manuals, etc.
For too many feminists there is a push to adopt toxic masculinity. This will solve the problem of the patriarchy. The patriarchy exists. Talked to female doctors that I respect and they ALL said that it was a man''s world. But, I have to emphasize adopting toxic masculinity isn't the answer.
2:22 "Yet that's what stories are about: they're about whether a woman can be womanly enough and whether a man can be manly enough to keep life going." 2:46 "... because we all have female and male elements, and ... when you put those together, you're getting something like the image of God ..." 3:35 "Women no longer know who they're supposed to be, and they get insulted if you say to them well, you may be many things, but the one thing you are not, is a man."
Feminism is about fairness and choice. Watching two characters fight in a film is simply fiction, a story. You suspend disbelief and censure for the duration of the film.
Feminism is an ongoing quest to retain possession of a cake you've already eaten. You want chivalry, but you also want total independence from men. You want exact parity with men in CEO positions, but are perfectly happy to leave septic tanks and bricklaying to men. You want the vote, but not the draft. I could go on, but it's not like you'll actually internalize anything being said. You're already up to your eyeballs in petty misdirected anger and typing up an accusation of bigotry as we speak...
I really dont care much about women beating up men in movies *unless* it's trying to preach an ideology, which these days is way too often the case, unfortunately. Some movies with women heros are perfectly fine, because we have already left critical reasoning at the door, we just want to escape and be entertained. Also if you watch a couple of average men fighting, it aint pretty or choreographed. Most men can't fight to save themselves, but they are undoubtedly stronger and more robust than women on average.
You lost me with the implication that women can't be special unless they reproduce. As a woman who never wanted children and was lucky enough to choose, I was able to divert my femininity and maternal instinct into art, friendship, creative projects. I've never ever wanted to be a man, have always liked men, had many lovers and was married for a long time. I've had a long and fulfilling life. Child raising is admirable but not for every woman. But Mr Klavan implies that it should be.
all of you said a man can do too, but a man can't make another human being. That's it. We have something wonderful, which is the creation of life. Creation and nurturing. A man can't feed a baby when they need milk. Men are stronger and goal oriented, women are nurturing. It is not about your individual life, is about the power of creation. Men seem to be able to destroy more than we can, but they can't create as we can. It's about the everything, humanity, not a single human. A man by itself is just a man, many man and women can form an impire or a civilization.
@@ShowMeSomething1 but, the point is about humanity, not some individuals. There are many infertile individuals, man or female. there's infertile dogs, and cows and penguins, etc. What's the point of discussing this.
@@kc6810 i think your points are valid but they back up something else. This comes from primative point of view, like olders civilizations, they admired fertility, it doesn't only allow the civilization to grow but also to bond. We use to care about blood because it use to mean you have a place in this earth. When you barely survive, you need a motive, not only divine but also in this earth. I'm not defending from a modern point of view. Of course people are special, because they possess a unique experience of life. The discussion is about primal instincs because it is the base of our species. There's something good about basic, more so, fundamental ideas of human beings. It keeps us not only grounded but aligned with our brain that has not changed much since we started building civilizations. We can't deny nature, and our brain is part of that.
My mother in law who is almost 80 years old bought this non sense of feminism recently. I saw her talking like a feminist the other day for the first time. I was like wtf happened to you?
It's ruined games too. I played Elder Scrolls Online for a few months until I saw a pattern; every single person in a position of power---with very few exceptions---was a female. Sea captains, lieutenants, commanders, spymasters, warriors, untouchable assassins, powerful mages...every single one was female. With the exception of a small handful of secondary male characters who were either a) buffoons, b) incompetent, c) easily manipulated, or d) backstabbers. The only strong male characters were the ones that were already canon in the Elder Scrolls world.

IMHO.

Gail Dines who is fighting against porn with other experts said that in 2002 the new law allowed women under 18 years old to be in the porn industry, because its discrimination.
So it caused an explosion of sexual abuse of teens.... and teens being kidnaped and sexually abused even 12 years olds but also child pornography. So she does seminars about it. She said that men dont understand that the porn industry is very violent and that many women are trafficked without their consent. 90 percent of women in the porn industry or strip club industry were sexually abused before or in childhood, so they are groomed to do the job because of its familiarity in their brains.
But she is not just a feminist but she is also on the side of men because the industry created such tactics that 10 or 13 years old boys who see porn, are innocent boys whose brain gets hijacked by porn and it creates such great imprint in their brain that later they may become trafficked or they may become future consumers opening their credit cards because its multimillion-dollar industry. Also, other male experts said that if 8 or 9 years old see porn movies they may become future trafficked people or consumers, that it's a form of grooming.
In documentaries, they say these kids who were exposed to porn too early have a problem understanding healthy sexuality full of love and empathy and have problems finding relationships. It also destroys families because of the normalization of the sexualization of people.
The youtube channel Fight the new drug says a lot of info and research about it More than 40 percent of women are trafficked against their will 20 percent are trafficked kids or teens, and also some men.
Another male expert that from 2008 to 2011 the number of 13 years olds seeing porn increased from 14 to 49 percent, just because of better cell phones He says that porn itself is a recipe for rape. That it's not how sex and intimacy and relationship look like.
He said studies show that when they were scanning men´s brains watching porn, the parts of the brain that contain objects were activated, not the parts of the brain that contain humans.
That the more people watch porn the less pleasure they feel from watching it because the receptors of the brain shut down from so much dopamine.
It seems that teens shouldnt use cell phones and rather do sports or go to nature because it's healthy for their brain.
So it seems feminism that cares about the protection of young men and women and their mental health is good, especially when it comes to law and protecting human rights. But of course, the other topics like equal pay are quite too much because it's based on different. Equality isn't possible.

Some black guy who did an interview with Jay Shetty said good points, he is also practically on the side of women explaining that men and women are different
because from biological perspective men and women have different thinking.
and he pointed out women are afraid to be feminine because they think if they will be peaceful, kind, and feminine, they lose power and get hurt by a man or husband, colleague etc.
I think we may say they are afraid to get hurt so they give up their feminity....even another woman can be nasty to women.
He said its not true because feminity and implementing kindness and peace is a powerful thing, it means giving peace is power, because its not controlling or affection but being in control of the situation
when you are nice and kind you actually are in control of the situation because you give the opportunity to the other person to be also nice and kind.
He said it's not about women not giving feminity but to whom you will give the feminity.
And another guy gives advice on youtube that not all men but some men are so ignorant and arrogant that the girlfriend or wife is so drained that she even
can not show her feminine-loving side all the time. He said that it may be to the point that she gives up and stops caring what he thinks.
So it means yes both genders should use empathy and kindness toward each other.

In defence of Dungeons and Dragons (not that I've seen it):
If ever you were going to have a film where female warriors have parity in combat with their male counterparts, then it would be this one.
@h.s.m.637 she is a barbarian in the movie and playing with brute force is just fun (in fantasy ofcourse)
The 5th edition released in 2014 has no such limits.
> either gender

@Andrew Klavan:
Femininity, motherhood, child rearing and homemaking are not primarily devalued by feminism, but rather by capitalism and the market - who take them for granted, won't pay for them, and expect to get them for free.
I simply do not have the words to express how profound this was.
Just dont let anyone to tell yo how to be happy. Its a journey that only you have the right to change. Live as you can and want.
Elas não precisam entender e você não deve explicação a ninguém. Como feminista, acredito que a mulher é livre pra ser o que ela quiser, inclusive dona de casa.

"When are they going to put attractive women in movies?"
Meaning feminine as well, of course, because attractiveness is a combination of beauty and femininity.
its social engeneering, they want women to be as repulsive and selfish as possible and men as unmasculine and spineless as possible. These characters are designed to make you think the shown conduct is normal so you become more like them.

"Can a woman be womanly enough, and can a man be manly enough to keep life going?"
Seems like a simple question and yet...
One Comment on the internet, but hopefully it will meet the right person:
There r real dangers for the woman being only housewife:
1.Financial dependency (classical one)
Everyone mad about his D&D example and not focusing on the Terminator example being a mirror of our reality is the problem.
Movies aren't real
This morning my husband got up st 4 o'clock to check our pregnant cows, its hard cold dirty work, I'm happy to stay in our warm bed in exchange for cooking him delicious meals and keeping clean, dry, clothes on hand for him. Im happy to tend to the little ones, handle the finances and be first mate to his captain of the ship. It works for us because we know we are human animals and this is how it has worked for millions of years.
@@kc6810 Because it sounds to me like his job is what makes the money that allows her to do the things she does. That's how it is with me and my husband. I essentially run the house. I cooke all the meals, do the housework, budget, make all plans be it a day trip or vacation, etc. But he earns the money. His one thing is what keeps our ship afloat so he is definitely the captain. And we both worked full time the first four years we were married. It sucked and financially we did worse. Now we're 50 with no mortgage, no debt and a lofty retirement. This is why people were able to make it on one income decades ago. Feminism destroyed that. It seems so innocent in tv and movies but it's a disease that spreads into real life.
@@zsuzsuspetals Just because he earns the money does not make him the captain.
great. literally nobody ever told you that you couldn't do that.
@@zsuzsuspetals you are so right my Dad earned a living capable of supporting our whole family, one parent was always available for the children. We lived on a remote farm and we're home schooled. @@pookiecatblue making the money, putting his body on the line to protect his family and our respect and agreement make him my captain. It's not without negotiation.
I dont think he was being honest. Theres a greater push, I think, to remove the father, and not the mother.
I mean the idea is to divide society, so it cannot stand. I have loyalty from my siblings my parents, my spouse, my children. What would I be without those ties? I would be weaker.
Not FEMINISM but rather washed out Hollywood idea of feminism. What you see nowadays is not feminism at all.
Oooh that question right after 6:00 is going to trigger some people.
I like your comment. I am of the same opinion. For some reason, we are not great at seeing the shades of gray.
Respecting women is fine. When women deserve respect.
It's the same vague and meaningless language feminists pull out when they ask "why are men so intimidated by strong women?"
And so it is that many female leads HAVE to be "strong and independent". Again. Just like the last film. And she'll beat up & kill hundreds of dispensable, uniformed men... just to educate us about "equality". Then onto the next trope
I can't imagine how pathetic the meetings where they discuss all this are.
I don’t get the problem with the fact that Men and Women complement one another…we ARE so different in order to complete one another…ffs…Clown world.🤡😫
We don't compliment each other, women simply exploited us for millions of years and now we are liberating ourselves.
Women want to be given the good bits of men's lives - not earn the good bits, but be given it - as their due. However, women want protection from the bad bits of men's lives, and men to pay the price for both!
Its all about balance. Too manly makes you a prick too femenine makes you weak. We need to see a biger picture of the world if we want to make the right desition.
@@krysuh6936 No such thing as too manly
@@gunsarrus7836 my coment is kinda vage. Let be more specific. High competitivness and stuburness can lead to poorly desition making, team work and awareness is needed in many areas. High agreeableness and emotional fragilness you mostly gonna enter in a sutuation of dependenci and abuse.
Haven't been to cinema to see modern movies in over a decade, it's been going downhill for a long time.
But it's getting worse
That just blew my mind, thank you, Andrew, the replacement of the mother is such an important point
Dungeons and Dragons is a fantasy movie so women CAN beat up men, beasts or monsters IF her attribute score is high enough . The problem is when people want fantasy to be the reality.
The original rules dictate that men are on average physically stronger then women.
Nope. Women are still not as strong as men
@Jianju69 original rules also dictate magic isn't real but again it's FICTION
@@Jianju69 Tell that to my female Paladin who was blessed by Gods with divine strength
Let's assume that in D&D, humans are magically stronger and more resilient than the mundane counterpart, or when they take fighter levels (or levels in any player class, they get that "magical" strength/resilience)
I think this equality in Pen and Paper is due to 2 things:
First, possibly economic, you don't want potential female customers to not buy because of an asymetric ruling.
The only way I can watch any movie today is by imagining the woman to be man because all leads are now women . Ridiculous.
For too many feminists there is a push to adopt toxic masculinity. This will solve the problem of the patriarchy. The patriarchy exists. Talked to female doctors that I respect and they ALL said that it was a man''s world. But, I have to emphasize adopting toxic masculinity isn't the answer.
2:22 "Yet that's what stories are about: they're about whether a woman can be womanly enough and whether a man can be manly enough to keep life going."
2:46 "... because we all have female and male elements, and ... when you put those together, you're getting something like the image of God ..."
3:35 "Women no longer know who they're supposed to be, and they get insulted if you say to them well, you may be many things, but the one thing you are not, is a man."
Feminism is about fairness and choice. Watching two characters fight in a film is simply fiction, a story. You suspend disbelief and censure for the duration of the film.
Feminism is about choice? And yet feminists are continually bashing the trad wife trend.
You've clearly missed the point of his story.
None the less it's (feminist) men who write power girls into scripts. Men's fault that movies are ruined.
I read 1984 and Brave New World back to back. Huxley’s dystopian future seems more plausible today.
So basically you live alone with a cat. Good for you
all of you said a man can do too, but a man can't make another human being.
@@TheMagicOwL127There are biological woman who cannot have baby’s….so what you said is wrong. 👍
Obviously it’s her ‘time’ now, she has to go. I’m sorry you have to be the one, but you’ll do great I have confidence in you!
She came to her senses is what happened
It's ruined games too. I played Elder Scrolls Online for a few months until I saw a pattern; every single person in a position of power---with very few exceptions---was a female. Sea captains, lieutenants, commanders, spymasters, warriors, untouchable assassins, powerful mages...every single one was female. With the exception of a small handful of secondary male characters who were either a) buffoons, b) incompetent, c) easily manipulated, or d) backstabbers. The only strong male characters were the ones that were already canon in the Elder Scrolls world.
I’ve hated how for too long we’ve had puny so-called action heroes like Angelina Jolie. It’s an absolute joke.
The biggest insult has to be Rey in Star Wars being inexplicably invincible.
Love the reference to Frankenstein. Such an important message about women’s coveted and envied power to create life.
Bring back great realistic writing please!
Even in a film there must be a degree of reality if the film is to be watchable. If you have total fantasy that is fine, or magic.
