You could also give an altitude meter that shows how far up the player is and different balloon types will have different limits on how far up the balloon can go. Very nice concept, i really like the whole idea. A comment as far as the modeling goes is you guys work with more geometry than necessary, for a pc game that's not a huge deal but it can add up very quickly, also i don't know your material set up but for low poly games like this you use work with palettes and specular maps. For example trees and organic stuff like the leaves should not have specularity. Also try to think of a style to follow, low poly with flat shading(either flat by angle or not) or low poly with smooth shading to keep your style consistent.

Unity is free and always will be. If your game makes more than some threshold some of the money will go to unity. You can download it from unity website.

those assets are hyper not optimized man, keep in mind to use as faw poly as possible
