I’m not even Indian, and even I knew that first one was wrong.
Of course. It's supposed to be of a thick, gravy like consistency, not dry like cornflakes.
Dry Daal is a completely another dish. That was definitely not Tarka Daal. 🤣
chim chim's jam kookies THE LAST FEW WORDS YOU SAID SENT MEEEE
maryavatar rightt
I know right. Its just..wrong.
Was that a dal which the first mom made🙄 every Indian mom would cringe seeing that
I'm not Indian but my aunt cooks daal and it is never that dry
It is never supposed to be dry ... In India it is eaten with roti or rice
The only time I've seen a dry dal is when it's supposed to be a Gujarati dry moong dal...and that is not what a dal tadka is. Embarrassing, especially given her haughty, more-talented-than-thou attitude. "This dal took me almost two hours to make." No wonder it looks overcooked and lifeless.

*Karens try each other’s Starbucks order’s*
OMG LMFAO
Yaaaaaaaaas
Diva
😂😂😂😂
Or casserole 😂
First mom's daal was more like the stuffing of daal paratha.
Lol ya so accurate😂😂
I thought so too!
Purnima Pandey exactly what I thought looks like stuffing of dhal puri
True
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Honestly none of these women can cook. That doesn't even remotely resemble Tarka daal. It looks like what you would get in a hospital.
Preach
My 12 year old brother makes a more appetizing looking daal
@@todomido4ever955 Your brother is more Indian than these women will ever be.
And a totally unrelated question, you like anime? Sorry for being creepy lol.
They need to hear this!! Being an Indian, I feel embarrassed of what they are bringing to the table 😂
@@ladytrashcan5829 Lol he won't be happy to hear that, he's trying to claw away from all his desi roots!!
Occasionally 😂 I don't watch as much anime now as I did when I was younger, but there are a couple I can't get enough of!
When the lady with the black has such a proud and snooty attitude but her daal is the worst rated one
Hahahahahaha but to be honest all of them sucked
But she was nice to the other dishes tho
That was khichdi
Anne Rose Alex Did you taste them?
It was so different that it doesn’t matter that it was rated low.
I like how in every episode, throughout all variations, the one who can't cook, is the most opinionated.
Frr
Every timeeeeeee
To be fair, they were all like that. They think too highly of themselves
I just love the confidence with which the first mom was SO convinced she sent it with that dal tadka.
They are STILL so rude since last time. Omg... “I don’t even want to taste it.” “It looks disgusting.” Do they not have any manners like she hasn’t even tasted it yet and she already hates it??? I mean fair enough if you do not like it but before you even try it if you start shitting on it then wtf.
Don’t get me wrong, I love these videos and please keep this content coming it’s just so weird that sometimes they hate on something for seemingly no reason before they even try it. Lmao.
@@buffoonery4649 To be fair that first daal looks sooooo dry, I can see what they're saying.
@@MurrayTheMac Then why wouldn't they just say "It looks very dry" instead of "It looks disgusting." That is what I am saying.
See the difference between the other two videos, the scores are rated higher, and their attitudes are slightly better. But nothing can top the British mums.
Snoodle ngl but that first daal really did look disgusting. The last one looked pretty good and both the moms noticed.
Okay, the aunty in black tee is clearly delusional.
period
“It’s very Salty” no hun sounds like you’re Salty.
When the woman in the black shirt said “this one looks more like a porridge” ????? Isn’t Daal a thick lentil soup???? Lol
Mar yea
Not necessarily a thick lentil soup. The consistency varies according to the region and the community. Usually the one cooked at homes in hindi speaking belt on common days is more runny. The 3rd mom's dal is more similar to that. Sometimes its consistency can be closer to a broth than porridge.
But yes, the lady was intentionally trying to be rude and insulting. There I will agree with you.
Her is so dry it isn’t even dal
@@glorymishra7101 right porridge/ soup is not how a dal should be
What the hell was the first dal? It looks so dehydrated haha
It looks like halwa
It need rehydration therapy
1st Yes it is dry. Looks more like khicdi than daal.
2nd Looks like the standard home made tarka daal. Restaurants has a bit more color.
3rd Hold my daal. That does look good.
Dude.. Uhh 2nd day is not standard idk what are you talking about.. Tbh we have better looking n better tasting dal at home
No offence 😅
@@kamlakumari5 Well lucky you! But as someone who was both born in the west being used to pre-cooked frozen weekly meals and raised in the east being used to everyday cooked meals, the second one looks like the western standard. But that does not mean everyone's is going to be the same, duh. But in my social circle it looks to be the standard.
It's like my cooking is spicier than my mom's. Does that mean her's is bad? No, of course not. But the same dish we make is going to look and taste different due to our preferences.
The lady in black is scary! Imagine having her as a mother in law!! And she is the worse cook!!
She's a Indian-British Gordan Ramsey....
for real though...
@@xixiruan well Gordon is at least a good cook.. that lady just made some dehydrated dal
I wouldn’t hide throwing her food away
Just the thought of her daughter in law gives me tears😂😂
Oh GOD she would complain about the quality of the oxygen she’s breathing.
First woman tries the first one: "nah not salty enough"
same woman tries the next one: *"WAYYYYY TOO SALTY"*
"This dol is definitely above average"
*Gives it a 6*
Dol🤣🤣
Lol dol
Lol dol
I thought she said "about average"
Dol🤣🤣🤣
You should do african mom's try each others jallof rice
Kylietink Turay YESSS
Please! yes - this needs to happen.
Bring it on.
Omg yes.
Kylietink Turay YYYYEEEESSSSS
Yesss
“It’s really spicy”
*Does a fake cough*
" I think my food will go down as different and maybe on the SPICY side."
The first mum is the snob-ish mum who is never happy with anything in her life.
The second mum is simple, probably amazing at what she does and has a beautiful heart.
The last mum is a delight to be around, cheers the whole room up, and has the best sarcasm or humour.
Jk, all of them are cool mums.
3:36 *That cough was so fake, i could literally choke rewatching it*
vital hygiene it was so frickin annoying
HAHAHAAHHA OMG
Corona lol
😂😂😂😂😂
CORONA VIARUSSS
They really weren't that rude? It's just the woman in black
G Snar yeah she was too cocky Nilay was nice in this episode.
I agree, idk why ppl are so critical and negative
I hate how she called the second one like "porridge" even though hers was like quinoa.
"I'd rate it a 7...youve got 2 invite me over 2 taste it then it'd be a 10😂"
Should've just given a 10 right?! But oh her Shego just wouldn't allow it 🤔 she clearly enjoyed....
Do this again, but with punjabi moms.
How do you know they are not Punjabi?
@@islandsunset too vile
@@TheIndianJedi because they are British first!
Yoo!! Ikr!!
@@islandsunset they have a british accent
Mum 1 is such a hater when she knows the other 2 Daal's we wayyy better than hers.
I really like the grey sweater mom, she’s funny and fair. The one in the yellow sweater seems nice too, super cute hairdo and outfit.
My mother accidentally saw me watching this video, and she went like- 👁👁
*cleaning her eyes*
Ye kya hai?Khichdi?Aaspetal ka khaana?(what is this?porridge?hospital food?)
They're my seniors but don't know how to cook, yikes.
I was like- BURN kar diya inko mummy ne😂🤣
The one in the black sleeve is so annoying lmaooooo
These “Indian” moms are from UK so expecting them to make a proper authentic Indian dish is useless.
ps- I just stated something a lot of people are agreeing to. No need to hate on me lol. *NO OFFENCE TO ANYONE*
Why are you watching buzzfeed U.K. then?
A lot of Indians live in the UK so that’s irrelevant
Stew stew Nonyo What makes you think I’m answerable to you? Lol mind your own business. :)
sorrynotsorryxx I don’t think so you understand my comment. So yeah.
Alankrita Chauhan lol. You should take your own advice. Maybe mind your own business when it comes to how Brit born Indians cook. Your comment is pure ignorance, you chose to say it out of the fact that you show distain towards Indians who were born abroad because you don’t think they’re like true bharat bhakts. It’s pathetic. You are the problem with why people see Indians differently, you’re too busy trying to tear down your own people. Constructive criticism is fair, but there’s no need to put it down to the fact that they’re apparently somewhat less Indian than you. Again, take your own advice and mind your own business on how people are. If their nationality is a problem then go compare and criticise buzzfeed IN. Otherwise just criticise the food alone, not the people. Also the great thing about our culture is how diverse our food is, and from one Chauhan to another, the fact you chose to sit here and spew such a hateful comment shows you’re not worth the title, disgracing our namesake with your attitude, that is not who we are as people. It’s a disappointment, to reiterate, I suggest you take your own advice and mind your own business, focus on your own issues.
As an Indian, the only edible looking daal was the last one 😂
Mom number 3 is very mature and gives constructive criticism to the other moms.
Love you aunty
I am Indian and if these people were to cook this here, in India, they wouldn't even be considered 'cooks'
Edit: they cannot even pronounce daal
Yeah isn't it pronounced dye-l ?? I'm Bengali and we say it like that
@@TantiPraenuntiaFabam we pronounce it as simply daaal
Hope u understood 😅
Indeed.. It's like someone puked out khichdi makes me sick
@red dye-l is the sylheti and assamese pronunciation. in standard bangla and hindi, it's dal/daal
@@TantiPraenuntiaFabam eh? dye-l? XD here in Bengal,we simply call it as 'daal' in standard Bengali
Maybe the dialect difference out there idk
Even I was in shock horror seeing the first Mum’s daal
How I make it: Boil the red split lentils (masoor daal), once cooked thoroughly you can use a hand blender to make it smooth if you want). In a separate pan, add olive oil, mustard seeds, and let it pop. Then add cumin seeds, asafoetida, a dried red chilli, let it fry a bit. Then add finely chopped onions and cook until golden brown. Add garlic and ginger paste, with some chopped fresh green chillies and cook until the oil separates and raw smell evaporates. Add salt, turmeric, chilli powder (if you like it spicy), coriander powder, cumin powder and stir until the aroma wafts up. Add chopped fresh tomatoes and lemon juice, or a bit of tamarind paste. Stir until oil separates, then add a pinch of garam masala, stir and add the mixture to the boiled lentils. Garnish with chopped fresh coriander. And my family love it.
Yeah. This is how I basically make mine. It’s so yummy.
I honestly want a video of them all making this dish together. Especially the 2 who kept it traditional.
The first mom used her secret ingredient: liqu
or 43.
stopppp💀💀💀💀
But still can’t taste the sugars
@@crimsoneyes419
The nutmegs the cinnamons I can't taste nunah dat
Did she put sugar in it? WHERES THE FLAVOR???
@@stop_the_straggots
I don't taste nunah dat
:)
Don’t worry! I think that only someone ignorant would believe that all Indians are like the ladies in these videos
Did you j-just say... oml 😂😂
In all honesty....British Indians are fairly rude 🤷🏻♀️
Most Indians I’ve met are really nice, but some really angered me
Well they are.
The lady who went first has a very royal sounding voice, she sounds like a queen.
Is the 1st mom's daal going through a drought or what?
Looks Dryer than the Sahara Desert.
😂😂😂😂😂
Just seeing them again i knew they were about to be rude af 😂 no pues wow
Des 17 I could tell from the first 30 seconds
Really, it was just the one in the black shirt. Especially since hers was awful!
They do not represent indian mom's I repeat they do not !!
Even if u went on a hunt in india you wouldnt find such rude people
Thank you for saying that. It is definitely true.
Exactly!!!
You know what, being an Indian kid I somehow relate to the poor dal. Like that dal got the criticism that a teen gets in an Indian household
So does stirring the lentils make it starchy and stodgy? Or did she just make it too dry? Or both? I want to make dahl at home so I'm interested to learn what NOT to do 😊
Without watching I already know they about to be rude af! And I’m here for it! Give me the drama I need 😂😂
Street Maggie DCUO but it’s literally so annoying
Ok actually they weren’t completely insulting each other though but still some unecessary comments
They honestly were.
Mum 3 has changed her attitude, and is now nicer and had rated higher scores compared to others.
“you’d have to invite me to your house” lmao if this isn’t every asian parent trying to invite themselves over
The third one is the one that looks the best in terms of 'looking' like tarka daal, ngl
Ladies its pronounced “ दाल “ not “डाल “ stop the accent . Just dont Vivekamundun it aye
They were most probably born and raised in the UK so they can't speak in our Indian accent
😂😂😂couldnt have said it better
Well, in Bengali diction it's the latter one but who knows if any of them is Bengali lol
@@rituparna6133 well I'm Bengali and I can confirm this
Lol🤣
i wish they would give them their own and dont tell them😂 lets see what they would say about it
When I’m competing in a food challenge, I never want to proclaim that my dish taste “different.”
0:28
"I didn't just boil it to death, and then fry up some onions and garlic and throw it in and wish for the best...
..no I *STIRRED* it.
and when I do serve it to those *LUCKY* Indian moms, I'm going to put fresh coriander on it." "👁️l-l👁️"
This vs british mums l can’t the difference is pretty big
I 150% love these videos. It’s so interesting to see how different palates like different things, and also get tips on how to make the meals better yourself.
We need one with each others biriyani
Excited to see how it turns out
Mum 3 is like the professional, I like her best.
Mum No. 3 is always my favourite lol. She needs her own podcast/tv show
I'm an Indian, and I can say that I've never known an Indian mom who is like them. 🙄
Well they are British-Indian mums not our regular Indian mums.
This whole time I thought they were calling all the foods “dull” but then I read the title 😂
could you please share the recipes?
*I am only here for the drama.* 😁
This is a dry to wet scale for Dahl?
The first one is not even a dal and she is so confident
People are so sensitive, it's a competition trash talk comes with the territory it's really not that deep you'd think the women in this video had killed someones cat 😂
This isn’t trash talk, it’s depressed jealous housewife talk sweetie. Can’t tell if you’re a moron or a defensive Indian tryna defend their auntie 😬 either way. you’re a spesh 😂
@killer That's uncalled for. You sound far more rude than the women in the video. The hypocrisy.
Exactly lol. They’re fragile
@@RR-kp5ps :)
Can you do Pakistani mums please, I've never seen anyone have people from Pakistan x
Pakistani Mums try each other's Biryani 🤣
@@1o1gaming9 haha yes! my mum ALWAYS makes biryani 😂
I think they improved well since last time, not every daal is tasty, and the moms gave their own opinion for the first one. It’s no hard feelings, just the way they feel about the food. Love the video!
Where do they find these people??????
I haven't watched the video yet, and I already know their behaviour sucks. Also..I'm an Indian . 😂
can we have pakistani moms try each other’s biryani next? lol
This could turn out to be a lot like Big Boss if all them were in the same room while doing this and gave the comments on their face! 😂
The fresh coriander mom was very intimidating 😂😂😂😂
Indian mum sayings its hot ????? She aint normal my mum is african and can deal with anything lol
That's just stereotype thinking this :D of course not every person likes spicy food.
mum 1 is so overdramatic, like it pretty sure mum 3’s dish wasn’t that salty and not to mention mum 1’s dish looks very dry and unseasoned.
The way that these women feel about each other’s dal, I feel the same watching this video.
Only the last one really even looks like what it’s suppose to look like
You should do Persian moms try each other’s Tahdig!
I feel like their being paid to act rude so it gets more views
They are nice to each other
I think these three are the funniest food tasters on this section of BuzzfeedUK mainly because of their personalities and they way they criticize each other's dishes.
Also I keep saying this but BuzzFeed India should do this instead of BuzzFeed UK
Siddharth Prabhu well no because these are British Indians...
*i CANNOT be the only one is disappointed that they don’t even have a hint of a indian accent right?*
tae’s• tea• Well they are British, why do they have to fit a stereotype 😂...being south Asian does not necessarily mean that you have an asian accent 🤷🏻♂️
Not any thing to do with this comment
But hi army!💜
Sifat Jahan hii
45tibi i didnt say anything about an asian accent. An indian accent is..different
I hear ya but they being of Indian origin isn't real Indian.
Ya'll complaining about them being "rude" they're not being rude, they're being blunt with their opinions. That's what this whole thing is about. If you are afraid of rejection then you shouldn't participate
This playlist is so good
the things they made looks like something i can get on air india 🥳
Haha😂
🤣🤣🤣
The first mom's dal looks like coagulated dal rice after you leave it out too long in the open
They should explain what the meal is/ what it consist of
Whether or not it looks like daal everyone has a different way of making it because it’s what their used to honestly in this day an age one dish can be made differently in so many ways
The one with the driest daal had nothing but sour things to say...
They missed the opportunity to say: "this daal is dull"
Please make a video about Filipino mom tasting each other’s adobo. Thank you!
"for effort and potential" 😂
Allow them, and get my mum on 😂😤
I think everyone cook food differently. That makes things special. Imagine everyone is making same taste stuff. Things will become super boring. Don’t you think it’s fun to taste how other people cook same stuff with different style?
But he first one was not a daal a daal is supposed to be runny and not dry
That first mom talks a big game but then can’t deliver lmaoo
The first daal look like when you fry the left over daal gravy from yesterday😂
I’m not shocked at their attitude. Sneering, rude and up themselves. Very typical of the older Indian mother.
I want these icons to get their own series. The straight-talk from them is actually more refreshing than the way the British mums sort of try to be nice whilst being negative.
This is my favourite so simple but I love this dish 😋
The winning mum is a winning grandmum vibe
My 13 year old sister can cook a more appetizing dal then theirs 😂😂😂
