      It is very beautiful to see friends from far away speaking Quechua. It lifts the moral of the Andean people. Sadly in the big cities still there is racism and people are looked down because they speak Quechua.

    So, I'm here after falling down a history rabbithole in my quest to add some desperately needed multicultural flavor to Dungeons & Dragons. I've got a mapmaker the party is going to meet soon who is from a land strongly influenced by ancient Mesoamerican cultures and wanted to hear this language I was never even told about to understand how this new fantasy culture I'm working on sounds and now I'm more irritated than ever at just how flat and whitebread the modern fantasy genre is. Thank you for helping me add some much needed inclusiveness to my game and for teaching me the sound of a language I didn't even previously know existed.

    Hola don 👋 I have a small question about the Quechua language. This previous year, a franchise I enjoy recently came out with a Quechua character, and as a Guarani person it brought me so much joy seeing a character that represents people like me so closely, even if not exact. My question is about her name- Illari. I understand that Quechua tends to use the “LL” similar to that of the Spanish language (almost sounding like a “Y”), I've heard this in a few of your Quechua lesson videos!
    However, there are a few people claiming that her name can also be pronounced “ili-ari”, and that the LL in quechua can be said as “li” rather than”yi”. Is it true? And if so, is it dependent on the dialect, or the individual? The voice actress for the character says the “LL” in “Illari” as you do “Allillanchu” in this video, but other voice actors (who are not quechua or even latino, and who speak american english) say a very gringo-esque “iliari” (the LL being lost)
    Do you have a video touching on the LL pronunciation, and if there are different ways? If not, would you happen to have the time to teach it?

    • @renehugo6454
      @renehugo6454  2 місяці тому

      Hi; For the Quechua speakers the "ll" and "y" are so diferent. For example "llapan"" and "yapan". The first mean all - everything, the second means its additional amount. Also "waylía" and "waylla" Waylía is an Andean mestizo dance and waylla refers to the greenish and young quality of the plant of early Spring.
      Illary means sunrise, a secret terminology and it sounds totally different from iyary or iliary. If you say iyary, the quechua speacker will asume you are mispronouncing the word "listen" "uyary" And if you say Iliary they will think you are looking for some one cold Ilia or saying what about Ilia? .
      Thank you for traying to do it properly. You are inspiring me to do a video of the unique sounds of Quechua Language. For now I am not teaching on line.
      All the best!

      @renehugo6454 Thank you so much for your response! I feel so grateful to have been able to speak with and learn from you. If you do ever end up making a video on the unique sounds of Quechua, I will 100% be watching and studying it, but in the meantime, I will do everything I can to learn with the resources currently available 🙏 I feel very lucky to have been able to receive such a concise and informative response from someone who knows the language first-hand.

      well I think that in Quechua we dont have an exact verb to say "love" but we can use "munay" or "khuyay" . so, for "I love my mom" the translation could be "ñuqa mamayta khuyani/munani" and for "I love my daughter" -> "ñuqa churiyta khuyani/munani" . And maybe someone has another way to translate 'cause Quechua has many dialects (I don't know if it is correct to say so but some of the vocabulary changes from region to region) depending on the area where it's spoken.
      Si alguien más sabe cómo traducir "yo amo a mi mamá" y "yo amo a mi hija" ayuden por favor para que pueda hacerse el tatuaje con tan linda frase en nuestra lengua que es el Quechua ^^
